"I ordered a camera that Beach claimed to have in stock. The shipping date has come and gone. Countless emails get a reply that the camera will ship yet those dates have also passed. The latest is that it's going to ship TEN days later than promised. Meanwhile, Beach has reduced the price of this camera and still claims to have this item in stock.

I wish I'd never come across this outfit. This is quite the worst online experience ever."

"MAURICE THE MANAGER LIED, HUNG UP ON ME, CANCELLED MY ORDER UNJUSTLY. CLEARLY IF BEACH CAMERA HAS EMPLOYEES LIKE THIS YOU REALLY NEED TO TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. WE ARE A RETIRED COUPLE WHO PURCHASE CONSTANTLY ONLINE AND HAVE NEVER ENDURED SUCH DRAMA ALL CAUSED BY MAURICE J., THEY WORK WITH AMAZON SO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT THE SELLER WHEN ORDERING ON AMAZON.

"I don't know if this is the place to write a retraction, but I hope so........

Maurice at Beaches just called me about the used cameras I have received, and he is going to take care of this. He is sending a new camera out with overnight shipping, and has promised that I would get a new camera. I am writing this, trusting Maurice to do what he said he would do. I prefer to believe that people are honest and caring. I am trusing Maurice to take care of this. He was very sincere when I spoke with him, and I really believe that he will. SO, disregard what I wrote previously. I am excited, anticipating the delivery of my new camera. I have Maurice to thank for that.............Karen

I understand BEACH CAMERAS is a large company and that they have been around for a while. Then I truly don't understand why they would send a USED DEFECTIVE CAMERA to me, not once, but TWICE. I bought through eBay, and paid immediately. I didn't keep them waiting. The first camera wouldn't work and I tried everything, including returning everything to default. I finally called Canon who worked with me about two hours, testing each and every thing on the menu, changing settings trying to get to the bottom of it. It finally worked, HOWEVER, they advertise the item is NEW NEVER OPENED. This was opened, plus Canon confirmed that the settings had been changed. It had been used. I didn't want the NEW camera that I bought TO BE STARTING OUT WITH PROBLEMS ALREADY. I wrote to return it, and they gave me a return number. I sent it, insured and with a tracking number. It was deliverd. They were going to refund my purchase, (What a dumb trusting person I was) when I said I would rather have a NEW NEVER OPENED CAMERA. They said they would send another one. I was away for 7 days, so when I got back, I checked all my emails, I picked up all my mail from the Post Office, and no Camera...no correspondence. I wrote again and asked if they would update me on the status of the NEW camera, and oh, they said they would get it out right away. Then I got a new email saying they showed it delivered. I wrote again, the one delivered was the first defective camera I received. Again, they said they would send it out. I was also running out of time to photo a wedding, and begged them to send the new camera Priority mail, and send me an invoice to pay for it but, No, they couldn't even do that. I finally received the replacement camera on the July 27th, mind you I bought this camera on June 29, 2010, and I received another opened camera......... that had a drip spot showing on the back of the camera. I took pictures of it and sent them to Beach, and just like the first one, I couldn't open the battery opening without prying it off with my fingernail. They turned around and sent me back the same camera, or one in as bad condition. What part of "I PAID FOR A NEW CAMERA, AND I WANT TO RECEIVE A NEW CAMERA," DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND???? I read many good reviews, so why did they treat me this way. I had to write over and over having to prove my claim in the process of all this. It wore me out. I don't want this used camera, because I don't know what might have or what may happen yet because it was used. Oh, the latest one didn't even have the plastic coating on the Display Screen.. I hadn't removed that from the first one. I leave those forever. I wrote Beach canmera all this, I sent pictures of the spot on the camera. Once more, I told them they sent a used camera........ but I have not heard a word. Why would they send a used camera for a new one, twice. If I don't hear something very positive by 7/30/10, I am starting a case with eBay. I have every transaction between me and Beach, so I will also report all their actions to Canon, because they are an Authorized dealer. Yes I have the business name of their other companies also. I didn't really have the money to buy this camera when I made the sacrifice, but to get a used one is horrible. The last week I was expecting a camera from Beach, Canon had a special where they sold the same camera for $199. Hows that for savings when buying from eBay??? Today, the same camera is $229.00 with Canon......... I want my money back and they have until 7/30 to do it. BUYERS BEWARE!!"

"Father purchased a dslr for me, however due to inconsistent policies, Beach Camera shipped to parents address even tho I had put in "my" ship-to address when placing the order. A minor thing caused a mountain of lost time and problems.

After going back and forth with CSR, they advised to reject the 1st order and re-order....even offered next day shipping free of charge. I agreed.

Received the order, however found that the battery charger is the wrong model. Could not use camera because battery will not charge! Contacted CSR and they want me to ship the battery charger back (didnt offer to pickup or rush a replacement charger).

Received the order"

"Horrible experience with this company. They shipped the item late and by the time it arrived I had moved out of the country. I contacted them more than 20 times before I got a response--they wouldn't have the order redirected and then let it sit on the porch for 3 weeks before they had the package picked up. The manager then wrote me back and said it was a joke that I would spend this much time for a $60 order. I guess he was hoping he could keep my money and his product."

"I ordered Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm lens from BeachCamera on 26th July'10 as I'm going on a tour on 30th...I paid additional shipping as well hoping that I would receive my Lens on time.

My general experience with any purchases is that the status of the order gets changed from processing to shipping in few hours or maximum of a day...But the case with BeachCamera is different...They won't ship the product until Billing Dept verifies directly with customer(even after CreditCard company releases the money).

I had shipping and billing address different as i want to collect the $700 product directly at my office...BeachCamera told that they won't ship product for atleast 72 hours as shipping and billing address are different...It is a company policy as customer service rep says.

Billing Dept called me yesterday(27th) to validate the billing/shipping information and told me that they are good and will ship the product...But they never shipped it yet(28th), so I called Customer Support again...the agent was telling me that they had problems with my credit processing(which was already processed) and hence the delay...I told him that it was resolved yesterday and he replied "ok then we will ship it tonight".

I will update on product once I receive the package...Hope I receive it by Friday.

UPDATE:

Maurice from Customer Service called me up and helped me by expediting the package...I'm receiving the package tomorrow.

With such good customer service, I would recommend Beach Camera for any purchases."

"Receiving ridiculously horrible customer service from BeachCamera.com! I recommend going somewhere else even if you have to pay much more. BeachCamera.com is not worth the hassle and it will end up costing you more anyway. Ordered an item from BeachCamera.com for Christmas and the item arrived in pieces due to poor packing. It was a glass item tossed into a box just a little bit larger than the item itself and shipped with a couple of those little plastic air pillows dropped on top and nothing else! What were they thinking? When I picked up the box little pieces of glass poured from the corner, leaving a trail of broken glass behind. I of course contacted them immediately to get instructions on returning and exchanging the item. I even emailed them photos of the condition of the package and its contents as I fully photo documented the opening of the package and its condition. Even though their policy states "We do not issue refunds for damaged merchandise returns. An item discovered damaged upon receipt will be replaced with the same model." They did not offer to send an replacement. They don't even follow their own policies. They instructed me to send the item back (at my own expense!) then go on to their website and order another one. Then when they received the damaged one they will give me a refund for the $163.92 item. So in other words they are asking me to shell out another $163.92 for an item they have not guaranteed will be packed any differently than the first and are not reimbursing me for the $22.25 shipping I had to pay to send the item back per their instructions (($163.92x2=$327.84) + $22.25 = $350.09). How ridiculous is that? Why don't they just ask me to send them a check for $22.25 each month and let them hold on to $327.84 out of my bank account because that is what they are asking amounts to... actually... doing that would be less of a hassle than what I am going through now with Beachcamera.com; as I should also mention all of the time that has been wasted communicating back and forth with them to no avail. And I don't have the Christmas present in my possession and Christmas is only days away with my money tied up at BeachCamera.com. I mistakenly read a few good reviews and went with this company because I thought they had a better reputation; even though their price was a little higher on this item than the other online retailers that I was concerned about not having as good a reputation. What a mistake! All this for something I can order on a more popular site known for books for $134.25 with free shipping. Please do not order anything from BeachCamera.com. You have been warned!"

"On November 15 2004, I placed an order of a Panasonic Lumix FZ20K with some accessories for a total cost of $663.98. Beach Camera's Web site said everything is in stock and should have been shipped in 1-2 business days. One week later, on November 22, I still had not got anything from Beach Camera, so I called and was told that the camera is out-of-stock and only available after Thanksgiving. I was so upset and cancelled the order then. Beach Camera ruined my Thanksgiving weekend by not shipping the camera as it was supposed to. The $663.98 was also charged to my credit card account right on November 15 although the items were not in stock. "

"I don't know if my shopping experience with BeachCamera was illegal, but definitely shady in my opinion. I ordered a Sony 52" LCD tv after researching other sellers and finding they had the lowest price by $50 and it was in-stock.

I received a message the following day from their verification department to call them. No problem, as I anticipated it. Called them back, verified my order, was told my order was in the warehouse and will ship later that day. I then received an email confirmation of my order having shipped. I also checked with my credit card company and verified the card had been charged to BeachCamera.

Four days later I receive a email and voicemail message saying my order was cancelled. They gave no explanation as to why it was cancelled. They left a call-back number but everytime I called I got an answering machine and no live persons. I left a message to call me back for an explanation but haven't heard back.

I then checked their website and found the tv was no longer listed on their site. Hmmm...Check again 5 days later and not only is the same tv back on the website, but it is listed as "in-stock" and is selling for $70 more!

I've bought from BeachCamera once before many years ago, but after they wasted my time and jerked my chain this way, I will never buy from them again."

"I had a problem with my order, but after I complained on this site Maurice called me and resolved everything to my complete satisfaction.

In fact, Beach Camera went far beyond my expectations!"
