Thank you for taking a moment to post a review on your experience with Atbatt.com. There were a few points that you mentioned that really concerned me, so I took the liberty in reviewing your order to determine the best course of action.
Please allow me to address these points so that I know I have provided you the correct information to your concerns and comments.
1. Brokerage Fees to Canada- unfortunately this is something that is out of our control, as FedEx assigns brokers tot he delivery of your item(s). In many cases these fees can be quite high once the total the brokerage, customs, duties, and taxes. As we do not know the exact amount of these fees, we do provide the following information on the shipping option that you requested:
"Customs Charges and Brokerage fees WILL be applied and can reach upwards of $50. We are not responsible for any brokerage, duties, taxes nor delays by Customs, as these are not related to the shipping of your order."
We also do offer a faster service to Canada via FedEx where the majority of these fees are included in the shipping cost. While there is a Free Trade agreement in place- it only applies to items that are manufactured in the US. In this case, the batteries that you purchased did not fall under that agreement.
2. I truly apologize for the receipt of the defective battery after paying such high fees. As we are not the manufacturer, it is not possible for us to test each battery before shipping. While the manufacturers do have quality control testing in place, it is still possible to get a defective item here and there.
Although these specific things are out of our control, what is in our control is the way that we handle our customers in these situations. While our return policy is clear and is provided at the time of ordering:

There are those situations that must be handles outside of these guidelines.
Although I have found that your return was handled in accordance to our Return Policy, I also find that we could have done more to assist you with the expenses that you obtained because of the defective battery issue. I see that the replacement was sent to you as a "replacement value" and therefor should not have accrued further fees. As a courtesy, I have refunded $38.00 to your credit card- $18 for your return shipping, and $20 towards the brokerage fees that you paid.
