"This was my first order through Allied Electronics and it will be my last. They trick you by telling you this is the price, have you input your credit card information, and then after the order is complete show the receipt with extra shipping and handling charges. I bought a raspberry pi and paid 12 dollars shipping and handling. Explain that to me. The darn thing weighs 45g. Shipping was also slow. Estimated delivery in 7 business days. I called on the 7th when it didnt arrive and got voicemail. Didn't come on the 8th and I called and got voicemail. Came on the 9th. The whole process just left me with a "
"I've been a customer of Allied Electronics for quite some time. As the owner of a small business specializing in custom-built tube amplifiers and solid-state synthesizers, a dependable source of electronic parts, tools and wiring is essential. Allied provides access to all these things, and adds personalized service, quick delivery and reasonable prices to the mix. I cannot imagine running my business without Allied in my corner."
"I have worked with Allied Electronics for the last 6years, I have never had a problem with finding what I need or delivery. I would suggest this place to all."
"I placed an order over the internet and according to the order information, it should have amounted to less than $15 with S&H. It turns out that they attempted charging my credit card almost $10 more for shipping an item that weighs less than an once and this caused credit card declines. When I called the rep about it, she politely explained that its corporate policy to put a larger hold on your card than the website order shows in order to cover all unforeseen freight charges? This is after they sat on the order for a week? I told her that they could have simply put the little part in an envelope with a couple of stamps and sent it out to me same day, like everyone else? Needless to say, I cancelled the order and purchased the item from Gopher Electronics, who sent it out same day for much less, without excessive holds on my card, excuses & run arounds, time lost locating my order between depts, and sneaking ridiculous freight charges in for something that weighs less than on once? I will not using this vendor again."

"Worst service ever! Ive been working in retail for 5 years now and worked customer service and as a sales rep never treated a customer like they have treated me. My complaint is not about thier usual exspensive s&h but an issue reguarding them over the phone, everytime i call they answer by just saying "allied". And not there name or department or how can i help you"? So after explaining that i did not recieve all items in my order, the rep snickers, gets my order # and transfers me to someone else who eventualy after waiting 10-20mins hangs up on me! I eventualy talk to someone though who tells me that he is going to do a "wave check just for the hell of it" and takes my phone number to call me back the next morning i waited till 3 pm U.S. eastern time and got nothing from them. Tried calling again and like a broken record the cycle begins all over again. I understand people make mistakes but these are no mistakes, just workers who dont care. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! THEY ARE COCKY AND IGNORANT AND DONT CARE!"
"Allied's shipping costs are geared toward people who buy more than 50 cents worth of stuff.
I ordered about $50 worth of IR leds and photo transistors and supporting stuff on Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011. It arrived before noontime on Friday! And I wasn't paying for special shipping. Allied had the order pulled and shipped the same day I submitted it. I've ordered from Allied before and had the same sort of service. I don't buy a lot of electronics stuff these days, but Allied is where I go when I do. Shipping was $10.65 - not the cheapest I've ever seen. But there was a fairly heavy power transformer in there. My alternative source locally would be Fry's electronics where I could have paid $3 and up each for IR leds instead of "
"I'm surprised these guys are still in business on how fraudelent they are. My order was for 50 cents plus $5 handling and $12.26 shipping. They purposely don't put their shipping costs on your order until they actually send you the Shipping notice. I didn't think I needed to check out the reviews on a big company, but wow! Crazy."
"Almost fraudulent ordering system on line. For a coax fitting I grudgingly agreed to pay $4.96. After that they say shipping and handling is to be determined. Well, when they shipped the item they charged $5.00 for handling and $12.40 for shipping an item that is really small. Too late now, and that is why they don't tell you what shipping and handling will be. Outrageous!!!!"
"I ordered a small super capacitor from Allied Electronics a few days ago and I have to say that I am not happy with their service at all. Similar to the previous reviewer the part I ordered was only $1.25 to start, but cost me over $16 after their overinflated tax, handling, and shipping.
First was the $5 handling charge for not meeting their $25 minimum, then more in taxes than I paid for the part... and to top it all off around $9.50 for shipping!!! For a part smaller than the nail on my pinky finger! The whole package weighed an amazing 0.2lbs. I asked the UPS driver who delivered it and he said it should have cost around $5 for the company to ship...
I think worse than the charges themselves was the fact that the website couldn't even tell me how much I was going to be charged total! The checkout page only lists the price of the product and handling and states that tax and shipping "need to be calculated manually". Needest to say I never expected another $10.
I will not buy from Allied ever again, should have stuck with Mouser!"
"Good catalogue selection, and it seems no minimum order amount or "handling" fees. However they still will not tell you what the shipping charges are online. You have to trust them. What may have started just as poor online software with no database about size/ weight/ special handling, now seems to have become an affectation with Allied.
Their charges indeed may be just their cost for shipping. However several dimensions are not obvious to customers. How many warehouses/ shipments are required? What charges for special handling?
At least pay close attention to the tiny icons in the product descriptions, which Allied describes at www.alliedelec.com/CustomerService/ShippingInfo.asp"
"As many other reviews state, they have a major problem with handling and shipping costs and not giving you the proper information about them.
They charged me around $20 for that (and it was USPS standard). If I had known, I may have tried finding alternatives. Pretty unsatisfied."
