I Had made a few calls to Adorama and talked to Alen , at ext 2263 . I was looking at the Ioptron Mini Tower . It's a computerized mount with tripod for Astronomy viewing. After talking with Alen the second time I ordered the product , and he asked if there were other things he could help with. I had ordered and sold camera equipment from/to them before but said for today this will hold me just fine.Being excited about the new perchase I cleaned out some things to make room in here and thought that maybe by the weekend I might get it. Well, I had ordered it on a monday about 1:30 in the afternoon I believe and by today (yup the next day) at 11: oclock UPS pulls up with 2 large boxes. Darn I couldn't believe how well they worked on this order - to get it out and to my home so fast.Oh, no broken or torn boxes either ! Service like this is a PLUS and I wrote Alen so say how happy I am and will be a repete customer for a long time to come - thanks Alen (( ext 2263 )) and ADORAMA so such a great job of treating your customers so well.

This is the third time I have ordered from Adorama. I am very satisfied with their courteous and concerned sales and Cust Service staff. They want you to be satified with your purchase. I ordered an item once that the customer service rep actually recommended another, less expensive item that would better fit my needs. I have been making camera-related purchases almost exclusively from B&H because of past experience but on this occasion, B&H no longer carried the item I was looking for and was forced to go look elsewhere. I decided to go with Adorama and see how their service stacked against B&H’s impeccable track record.  
 
In short, I am pleased to find another retailer as good as and perhaps even better than B&H. This particular experience with Adorama would most likely become one of the benchmarks with which any future purchases will be measured against.  
 
1. Speed: I picked up the phone at 4:30 pm to place the order, and I found the merchandise on my doorstep at 9:30am the next morning (that’s mere 17 hours and no, I did not request expedited service nor was it a special overnight delivery). Living in NY metro area helps as Adorama is a NYC retailer, but the fact that the order was shipped out within same business day despite 4:30pm order placement shows their efficiency and commitment to excellence.  
2. Product Description Accuracy: as noted on its website, nothing more nothing less, leaving no speculation. I have the trust and assurance next time I purchase something from Adorama. Also, the merchandise was very securely packed.  
3. Courtesy: I spoke with Al (ext 2263) who answered all my questions. While I understand it’s probably in their protocol to offer accessories during phone transaction, he respected my ‘No’ response and never pushed any further for things I did not need or want.  
 
While I’ve known about the store since the pre-internet days (and made some small purchases at their actual store) I've always gravitated towards B&H when placing order online, but now I can shop with confidence from Adorama.  

Recently upgraded my nikon d80 to a canon 5d mark ii. I wanted a full frame camera and had experiece with the Canon system in the past and decided to revert back to that system. Rather than the hassle of trying to sell a bunch of items through ebay, I tried the Adorama used dept. for the trade in. The used dept. contacted me quickly and quoted me a price on all the gear I wrote down at Adorama's used gear site. They even provided me a ups label for shipping the box of gear to them with insurance. Well, in short I was able to talk with several people in the used dept. and was able to trade in all the gear for the canon gear and pay the difference. The canon 5d mk ii is in demand and their site lists the kit package with 24-105 lens as being out of stock since they cannot keep up with demand. However, they got me to the top of their list and said I would probably get it within a week. I was pessimistic as the week progressed but just a couple of days before the week was over, I got a tracking number for overnight shipment of the package. It arrived the next day and everything arrived as promised. Dealing with the used dept. and Adorama has been a smooth experience and much easier to deal with than if I tried to sell on my own. One important note, realize that the quote for used gear is the market value for the equipment and not the money they will give. Adorama gives 70 percent of the market value quoted. Make sure to get a firm quote of exactly how much your used equipment is worth and the amount of the check to expect. Otherwise, expect a fair value and all new items you buy with them to be exactly what it is. I have used Adorama for thousands of dollors of equipment in the past and plan on using them again and again in the future. Thanks adorama and the used dept.

June 22: I made my purchase for a Nikon D90 combo kit. Best price with the kit!!  
 
June 23: E-mail was sent to me confirming my order was being sent!!! Real fast compare to other place. (Check my other reviews.)  
 
June 26: I was suppose to receive my package today. Stupid UPS didn't ship it between their business hours 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. I was waiting and waiting! I went out at about 7:15 pm and came back later to find out they did indeed ship it to me but it needed a signature so they have to reschedule. (Note on my door for reschedule on June 29 !!!)  
 
So far so good with Adorama. Though funny thing is I placed 2 different orders, 1 for the D90 kit and the other one for filter lens. My D90 kit is shipping faster than my filter lens. (Even when I ordered my filter lens on June 19.)

Ever since I got my DSLR, I have purchased many items from Adorama (SD cards, filters, diffusers etc.). This review is for the recent Flashpoint carbon fiber tripod CF1228 I purchased.  
 
I was quite skeptical about the quality of the product and did a lot of research before making the purchase since it is their store brand. Based on positive reviews from others, I decided to give it a shot.  
 
I was really surprised by the build quality of the product and it has worked well till date in various conditions (field and otherwise). The tripod is really sturdy yet amazingly light. It is easy to set up and has an hook for additional weight addition, for extra stability.  
 
Since I am not a pro, I am quite happy with this carbon fiber tripod for the price. I think it will last for a long time. Adorama personal were as usual very clear about warranty and return policy and shipping was free. The tripod arrived superbly packed and padded.  
 
Only a few thing could be improved about this tripod. The strap of the case holding the tripod is rather strange and difficult to put on the shoulder while hiking. The instruction manual was bare minimum and the tripod has Adorama written on it in too many places.  
 
Everything said and done, all my purchases from Adorama have been perfect and hassle free and hope they keep doing a great job. Also I would like to mention that for each item I purchased Adorama had a price much lower than B&H Photo and most of the times with free shipping.  

I have been dealing with Adorama for the last year and a half, and have thus far spent in excess of $2500.00 with them. To this point every transaction has been a positive, friendly experience. Orders are filled rapidly and shipped in sturdy containers. I am in the process of having one item, which I have been using for over a year, serviced by them. I have to ship the item to them to be fixed, but I expect that all will go well with that experience also. Adorama has met or exceeded my expectations at every turn. I will be returning to their web store again.

One concern is that Adorama says that they accept Paypal when ordering on their web site. When you order, a couple of hours later you get a notice saying that your Paypal payment has been canceled and to call sales immediately. In my opinion, this is an absolute scam to prevent you from placing orders without getting the hard press sales pitch. In my case, I placed the order at 9:00 Friday morning and by the time I got the email, Adorama had closed for the day. I was livid!  
 
Luckily one sales guy, Meyer, was available to place my order. He stayed late to insure that everything was correct and shipped on time. Meyer's service kept my business at Adorama as I was truly ready to walk. Deal with Meyer to get fair service. Deal with anyone else and your are on your own.  

I bought a light meter from Adorama. It was shipped to me in 2,5 days to the other side of the world (Finland)! Great job Adorama and UPS. :)  
 
After shipping (about $50), local VAT 22% and handling fees (from UPS for taking care of customs and VAT) it was still about 40% cheaper and probably a lot faster than any domestic offers that I could find.  
 
Special thanks goes to Helen Oster (Adorama Camera Customer Service Ambassador) who helped me with my order. This was my first international "expensive" order, but it won't be my last. And I will definitely buy again from Adorama. :)  
 
For those who bitch about shipping, local VAT and customs fees: Adorama (or any other store) can't do do anything about them. About $50 for UPS Worldwide Express shippping is really quite reasonable price. Possible customs & VAT are charged by your goverment.  
 
There isn't such thing as "free shipping". If someone offers you free shipping, then shipping fees are included in the price.

Fast shipping, moderate prices

Great experience. Received a very good price on an Okidata printer plus free shipping too. Printer arrived factory sealed in only 2 days!! (New York to Chicago)
