"EDIT:
As to the sellers response below, I never used inappropriate language when talking to customer service. I did get upset but not agitated. It is completely reasonable to get upset when the person on the other line is too busy to help you.

I would also like to add that I sent my credit card full copies of all the emails during this transaction and they came to the conclusion that the seller had not verified with me the amount they would charge before making the transaction and that they failed to ship the item through the carrier as paid for, as a result they have credited my account for the total amount of the purchase. I was charged $6.18 by my credit card company for the "currency conversion" on top of the charge ATS made.

I never had the opportunity to order through your U.S. store because there was no option during the checkout process. If you new that I could have ordered from your U.S. store, then why did you not call me or email me to let me know that the item would not arrive in time if I ordered it from the Canada store?

It is the sellers responsibility to contact the buyer if the amount on the invoice is incorrect so that the buyer can determine whether to continue with the order or render the service elsewhere. As far as I know it is illegal to charge a credit card an amount without first having the customers authorization for the intended charge amount. It is unethical not to disclose any "currency conversion" fees to the customer. It is true that I refused the item and you can look at my review for the reasons. I have detailed records and I stand by my decision and I am now seeing more of this companies true colors.

ORIGINAL POST:
I ordered a Kodak Zi8 from this seller on Friday December 18, 2009. I noted in the "Special Instructions" area that this would be a Christmas gift and I felt confident that it would get to me in time because they advertised a "usually ships same day" on their site and because they offered UPS Expedited service.

I went to the UPS site and did an estimated shipping time on a package from Toronto Canada to my state in the U.S.A. and it would've gotten here on December 24 if they sent it by Monday.

On December 22 I decided to call them to ask for a tracking number because I didn't receive any communication from them other than the order confirmation email. I was told by the worst customer service representative that I would have to reply to the order confirmation email to check on the status of the order and that they did not provide any tracking numbers only confirmation of delivery.

I had no choice but to rely on an email form of customer support. I sent an email and I received a reply after 2 days stating that the order had been shipped and that it would take 1-4 business days, not including customs, to receive my order. I figured that It would get here on or before January 4, 2010 since I had paid for "UPS Expedited" shipping which was what the invoice stated. During this time I had checked my credit card statement and they had charged me $15 more than what was reflected on the invoice.

I got suspicious and I called them again the next business day on December 28, 29 and 30 but I always received a message saying that they were closed for the holidays. I gave it another try on January 3 and I finally got someone to answer and they told me that they could not give me any information about the order and to reply to the order confirmation email with any questions. I explained to the representative that I had already emailed them and that they did not provide me with a tracking number and I wanted to know what parcel service they used to ship my order and again I was told that they didn't have that information and to reply to the email. At this point I was ready to call my credit card company and report this transaction because I knew that UPS always gives you a tracking number and the customer service I was receiving sounded very suspicious.

I replied to the email again asking them to provide me with a tracking number and if they didn't that I would call my credit card company and report the transaction. They replied to my email on January 4, to my disappointment they decided to save themselves money and send it through a second rate parcel service called "Purolator" and they included a tracking number which could only be tracked through "Purlator.com", not UPS as I paid for. They also said it would arrive within the next few days. I was very upset at this point because the order would not get here until January 7 and because I felt cheated by this company. They overcharged my credit card, sent the package out late, they did not use UPS as stated on the invoice, they provided me with a tracking number only after several attempts to obtain one and their customer service was the worst online service I had ever experienced.

I refused the package when it arrived and I did not even want to look at it. I was able to get my money back through my credit card company and not through ATS because they refused to refund what they had charged. I strongly advise anyone in the United States to look elsewhere for their online orders and not to this Canada based company. "

“We are sorry about your experience. In response to your case you keep referring to the item NOT being sent by UPS. Here is the tracking number for the return of the item by UPS: http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/processAltInputRequest?loc=en_CA&req=alttrk&tracknum=1Z662F48DK80497000&r=6617

In your complaint you state UPS was not involved and since the above information confirms this, I am sorry to say that your complaint is misguided.

Here is also a message from UPS Trace Specialist.

Hello. We had attempted delivery of the item in the time frame, customer would not accept the package. Item is Currently in transit, waiting for customs clearance into Canada and Estimated delivery date. The tracking number is 1Z662F48DK80497000

I listened to the calls in which you state you were directed to reply to your email. You had called the sales department asking questions about your order, you were very agitated and were swearing at the sales people - we have audio copies of these emails and are available for review. They had directed you to log into your account to see the shipping information or call the service department. You didn't do either. As stated on the site and agreed to when you placed the order, we are NOT responsible for time in customs and it appears that due to the tightened security at the borders due to the "underwear bomber" all items going through customs were delayed: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,581355,00.html

As agreed upon when you placed your order, we are not responsible for time in customs but the item did arrive in time frame as selected - not including time in customs as you selected and agreed upon.

The approximately $15.00 is the for currency conversion as this was sent from Canada. Again, you selected this.

As you know, you had refused the item to a UPS employee and UPS attempted to contact you multiple times to deliver the item. I can provide this contact information to you if you'd like.

To simply avoid whole issue you could have selected this item to ship from the US warehouse, but you did not. You were the one who ordered the item and you, yourself selected the item, where it shipped from and the delivery time. We had no input on this for you.

We are sorry you did not get the item in the time frame you had wanted but it did arrive in the time frame as selected on the website when you placed your order.

Also, you ordered this on Friday the 18th after 10PM. The first possible ship date was Monday December 21 (which is when it shipped) and even with the upgraded service you ordered it knowing full well that this would not get there in the time frame you had selected, and that is without any hold up at customs. Again, we are sorry but you should have selected it to ship from the US warehouse and not the Canadian warehouse. Also, you should have ordered the item a lot earlier if you knew that it could be an issue to get this within a certain time frame.”

"I ordered a Griffin product on May 24 that their website said was in stock and would ship immediately.
After not receiving it and many calls where they claimed it had been shipped, it finally arrived on June 11, shipped by Purolator on June 8.

Now here's the kicker ....
The online total was $72.84 including taxes and shipping.
My VISA statement just arrived showing a charge of $84.25 !!!"

"I ordered a simple tablet sheet on September 6th, and it didn't arrive until October 15th. It was a simple sheet that I really didn't need right away, but it literally took them over a month to get this to me. This kind of service is unfathomable and I would never order anything from them again.

EDIT: I really didn't appreciate the six missed calls on my phone 1 hour after this review went up. I got my purchase (over a month later) I don't want to do business with this site again. Calling my phone six times isn't helping, or very professional. "

“We are sorry for the item arriving late. The item was sent to you by and was unable to be delivered. The carrier as well as us tried to contact you several times. There was never an answered call. The item was then returned to us.

The item (at no charge) was resent to you via regular mail, so that a signature wasn't required. Considering the fact that the item shipped from Canada, went through customs 3 times, once there, on the return and then once again on it's way back, the item arrived within a reasonable time frame. Had the item been able to be delivered when it was first sent, it would have arrived in 4 business days.

Again, we are sorry you are unhappy. If you would like to call in, we can credit you the shipping even though the reason for the delay was out of hands.

Thanks for the comments and we will strive to help you in any way we can.”

"Bought something and was worried about the purchase because the price was lower then other places. I was concerned that the item was used. Called and representative was polite and responsive to my questions. I called three times before the item arrived (just paranoid first time shopper and almost a first time internet shopper).

When the item arrived 3 days after order I was ready to be disappointed, but I wasn't. Item was perfect. I ordered some Bose headphones and they were in the manufacturer box, with the manufacturer seal. And they sound so great!!! I am very impressed.

I called and they said that I was happy, they said there is many places on the internet to write a review and this is what I found when I googled reviews. So here is my review.

I am very pleased with my purchase and my ability to save some money on my order.

I would glad do business with them again.
