I have purchased several books from a1Books and have always received good merchandise at a great price.  
 
However I will no longer make any purchases from them because of how they treated me after I signed up as an affiliate. Basically they refused to credit my affiliate account (through Commission Junction) for the sales made directly from my website.  
 
Despite showing them the invoices for the orders in question they just ignored my requests. Very unethical and very disturbing! I don't want to do business with criminals do you?  
 
Additional Information added:  
 
I have communicated with Commission Junction and they have made it clear that tracking is done by the vendor (ie a1Books). They also contacted a1Books on my behalf without a response.  
 
a1Books has responded to my review saying that I don't have any links on my webpage. Of course not!!!! I took them off because I'm not going to keep promoting a business that doesn't pay the commissions they owe. The orders were all placed by clicking on a link on my website to a1Books and then immediately placing the order.  
 
I tried to work this out with a1Books for almost 2 months without a response. They didn't respond until yesterday after I posted a review here.  
 
a1Books - don't place any more BS responses!

All tracking is done through by Commission Junction through Commission Junction. If there was an issue with payment is it to be made with them as they are responsible for that. We did email you with no response as well as visit your website that has no affiliate links on it from us or anyone.  
How an affiliate program works is that the website webmaster, such as yourself, gets a banner to place on their site with a referral code in there to track for commission. It appears that not only did you not do this but you went straight to our site to place the order without clicking on your own referral link. Therefore the order was not tracked in CJ.

I received an order confirmation 2 days after my order. I didn't receive a shipping notice until 9 days after my order. The book (a gift) didn't arrive until 20 days after my order. I also sell books through Amazon so I know I am to have that book delivered to the doorstep within 14 days, so I was very disappointed that my gift wasn't received until day #20. I will not buy from A1 books again.

I ordered a book from A1 through Amazon on January 13th (today is the 21st). A1 says in its FAQ section (at http://support.a1books.com/cgi-bin/csFront?act=showHelp&WVSESSION_ID=1943157557 ) that "Standard order processing time ranges from a few hours to 3 business days." The order, however, is still processing. I began to wonder what was going on, so I looked around the A1 site to find reviews of their system and to find a good way to contact them.  
 
The FAQ says that "Before making a purchase, you can view comments and all the positive and negative feedback submitted by previous buyers." However, no link was provided. I went to their homepage and I still didn't see any reviews. I eventually just googled "a1books reviews", which led me to this page.  
 
I also wanted to contact them. The homepage doesn't appear to have any "Contact Us" links or anything. The FAQ had an address and a fax, but no e-mail or phone (my two preferred methods of contact). If I can't find anything else to do, I will probably eventually send a fax. I also looked at the e-mails they sent us to confirm that we had placed an order, but "This email message was sent from a notification-only address that cannot accept incoming email. Please do not reply to this message." The FAQ says that "If your questions or concerns are not answered by our FAQ's or if you have problems with any of our sellers, please contact us by logging on to our Help Desk." I went to the Help Desk link at http://support.a1books.com/cgi-bin/csFront?act=greet&WVSESSION_ID=1943157557 and it told me to select the site where I placed the order. I clicked on Amazon.com and entered my order information. I was hoping that they would give me an e-mail, but all they did was show me my order and inform me that it was processing. The Help Desk didn't have any means of contact, contrary to what was said in the FAQ. A1Books' replies on this page say to "contact our customer support at support.a1books.com", but do not provide anyone with the information of how to actually do so after you go to the link.  
 
In short, this "company" appears to AT BEST have no useful customer support, an extremely inefficient order processing system, a poorly organized website, and a completely incorrect FAQ. It seems almost certain that this evaluation is too generous and that they are simply hoping people won't notice when their orders don't arrive.  
 
EDIT: Eventually, the order processed and shipped. I have adjusted my opinion accordingly. I am unhappy that the processing time was long for both me and many other reviewers, but as the order eventually shipped, that was the most important thing as I wasn't in a big hurry to receive the item.

When you click on the order number, at the bottom you will see:

That is where you will be able to open a support ticket for us to help you further.

I ordered several dozen books from various used book marketplaces. All of them were coming from A1books.  
 
As far as I can tell, every single last order I placed that was to ship from A1books was cancelled by them as thay claimed to have already sold the item. I know there was a huge run on the titles I ordered, but every other used book seller at least filled a part of my order.  
 
I tried to call to complain, but their phone service isolates everybody from customer calls!

I have another negative review to add to the pile. I ordered two books from a1 on December 28th. It's now Jan 14th and I still haven't received the products. What's worse is that I wasn't even provided with a tracking number. I emailed a1books to obtain one, and they refused to do so. Thus I don't even have a means to independently confirm that these books have been shipped or even exist in the first place.  
 
Terrible company. They're scam artists. Avoid at all costs.

I will NEVER order from this "company" again. It is just a big SCAM. That is ALL it is. I placed an order on December 21st, 2009 for a book for a Christmas present for my friend. Here it is January 12th, 2009 and I still have not received the book. I have not spoken to one happy customer who has ordered from these people and now I know why. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! IT IS A COMPLETE SCAM!  
This is Meaghan's Mom, and I just read your reply to her. You have no record of her??? Funny, that she got a invoice number, a shipment date and a tracking number from you. The only thing is is that the tracking number is obviously bogus. Even the money has been taken out of her bank account, but you still have no record of her???? The book looks like it came withing 30 miles of us and was never delivered. Now it is down in TX somewhere going from city to city. There is not even the name of the shipper anywhere so they can be contacted. I called your company, but does anyone ever answer the phone??? Obviously NOT!! I just reported you guys to Amazon.com and they are looking into the matter. If we still don't get anywhere with you in the next couple of days, I am taking this matter to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Washington DC, so maybe further action can be taken against your company and other unsuspecting people won't be SCAMMED!!!

Most positive or satisfactory reviews are another Scam by A1books to fool new customers, they are all short, no details, and almost same pattern of deceptive language.  
Any one who is a victim of A1books.com scam and interested in a class action lawsuit please forward your name and email address "gorbeapashmalo@gamil.com"and I will forward them to my lawyer or file your complaint at www.bbb.org  
 
laA1.books, never replied to my many emails, and inquires for shipment, after I called I was told processing take 5 business day. my order place on January 2 and 5 business day mean IT should have been shipped on January 8, 2010. We can provide all the necessary paperwork showing that we did indeed respond to this customer's email requests Jan 7th, Jan 12th, and Jan 13th  
The book ordered was a special order book and was noted as such on the site. After emailing us he did indeed speak to someone in our company and when offered to cancel the item he accepted. He was also told that a refund can take up to 48 hours to reach him. The reason being that it has to cycle through our system, the credit card processing company's system and then his issuing bank's system.  
Our books state where they are shipped from. Most ship from the US and the UK. Not sure why this customers keeps bringing up India. We do have a site in India and sell on about 20 other platforms around the world as well.

I bought through AbeBooks, so did not know I was dealing with these scam artists until it was too late: Total scam artists -- DON"T SHOP HERE. I ordered a text book, they shipped from some other company, with no contact or return info THE WRONG BOOK, even though the packing slip had the text book name correct, they shipped a cheap pamphlet "study guide" for the textbook I needed, NOT THE TEXRBOOK. Now I am a week into the semester with no book, the used books are sold out on campus and I will have to spend double for a new book or fail my class. DO NOT SHOP A1 BOOKS.

I ordered 3 books for my son for Christmas thru Amazon. The expected delivery dates for the books according to Amazon was December 23rd. Perfect! Two of the books arrived on the date promised. The book shipped from A1 still has not arrived.  
 
I'm not one to complain and have never written a complaint about ANY company that I have done business with on the internet but this is downright RIDICULOUS! They charged me almost $4 to ship ONE book that could have blown here faster.  
 
I order a lot of things off of the internet. I have never seen anyone ship anything so slowly in my life.

Ordered a widescreen version of the "Stardust" movie. Received a full screen version. Contacted A1 Books - the only way is the website. Received an email to contact the seller directly. The seller submitted again the wrong return address on purpose and then never replied. Summary - A1 Books is a cover for scams.  
After I notified A1 Books about my reviews, they replied to several other people on the same day - Jan 4, 2010. They also asked me to perform the following actions:  
Can you please take a picture with a camera or your cell phone of the box that you addressed and have had stamped as undeliverable? Can you also forward the email that the seller sent to you to seller@a1books.com along with the  
pictures. I want to compare his address with what we have on file. Also, when did you physically mail the package? It should be on the box as well.  
 
Well, I wasted enough time and I am not going to spend any more resolving a $10 issue. Just buyer beware - with A1Books you are gambling and you are on your own. Better spend couple more dollars and buy from Amazon. Even eBay is better - sellers are really concerned about feedback.

On our November email to the buyer we explained that they should try to contact the seller and exchange with them. If there were any issues to please contact us again. We were confident that the seller would handle the issue. We were not contacted again but after the buyer posted this review then contacted us. We have asked the buyer to forward the email he received with the ship to address so we can look into it more. Have not heard anything yet.

Ordered a guide book to Peru before my trip on November 11. Never received the book before we left on November 24th. A1Books said it had been shipped on the 19th but never gave a tracking number. Book was not shipped until the 24th of November and reached destination on the 9th on December, nearly a month after order was placed. Will NEVER, EVER buy from them again. Recieved a feedback notice from Newegg. Tried to leave feedback and A1books' site and it said my account did not exist. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! It's not worth the hassle and frustration!!

We do apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately I can't look into exactly what happened from what we are reading on this site as we do not have the invoice number. I can tell you that if you purchased the item on Newegg's site you would have to leave the feedback there and not on the A1Books site as that is where the order was generated.

The Book Homeopathy and Child care by Shshikanth Tiwari  
and there is no resonse form the A1books  
 
A1 books responded but both the books are wrong and I have to send back with my expense for their mistake which is not right

I am very suspicious of this company because I believe my credit card number was stolen through transactions with them. Within days of buying an electronic book through A1Books, fraudulent charges were made against my credit card. This is a card that had been used very rarely for several months, so it was not in wide circulation. The card number was changed, I purchased another ebook, and the card was immediately compromised again. The only purchase I had made so far with the new number was through A1Books. I have no absolute proof, but the circumstances are very telling. I saved a lot of money on those two books, but I doubt I will use the service again unless they start accepting paypal.

We do accept Paypal, Google Checkout as well as a secure checkout system. We do take steps to insure things like this do not happen and when we get a complaint do take it very seriously and look into it.

So, I like everyone else am struggling to figure out why I have yet to recieve my order. As you've all discovered A1books does not have a telephone number to call. I did eventually find this working one:

Now, if you press 9 for customer service a machine tells you to go to the website and then hang up on you. However, I also found the first names of several of their employees (http://www.jigsaw.com/id552229/a1books_com_company.xhtml) :

So, if you go to their employee directory and enter the first three letters of any of those fellows, you get to at least leave a message. I'm harassing them til I get a response. You all should join in.

We addressed this issue with Megan the day of this review as she did contact our support team at support.a1books.com and opened a CS ticket. As we explained to her we prefer customers to contact us via the support system as tracking info is there as well as the information that our CS reps will need to assist her.
