"DO NOT BUY FROM 1 WAY PHOTO. This was easily the worst experience that I have ever had in retail. My experience is very similar to the many who have written previously. I made a very large purchase from their online store. The next day I was contacted by their sales rep Scott. Through a series of lies and misrepresentations of both Canon and Sigma camera products, Scott convinced me to change my order from Canon L lenses to Sigma lenses.

With all the warning bells ringing in my head, I let him talk me into changing my purchase. He insisted that the great deal being offered would not necessarily be available if I took the time to check out his information and call back.

The next day, I contacted both Canon USA and Sigma USA and determined that he completely misrepresented both product lines. When I called him back with the information that I had found out, he still insisted that I was wrong and that he was correct.

I then started the process of contacting my credit card company and disputing the charges that had already been made. They recommended that I not accept delivery of the camera and lenses and to send the entire order back to 1 Way Photo.

There was a three week waiting period, but I was given a full refund from 1 Way photo with no restock or shipping charges. 1 Way Photo had threatened to charge me a 20% restock charge and shipping costs. On my order, that would have amounted to approximately $1,600.

Needless to say, I am so relieved that the credit card company was able to resolve this dispute 100%. The stress that I endured during the three week waiting period was no fun.

If you have an order with them that has not been received yet, you can avoid charges if you refuse their order and send it back. They are not a legitimate seller and you are much better off not buying anything from them. "

"I strongly urge you to consider NOT doing business with the place. My horror story is very similar to most reviews listed below me. After I received my "confirmation"/upsell phone call and agreed to the package "deal", I got an uneasy feeling about the whole thing. I heard most of the same things you've all heard. I mean seriously, what kind of camera manufacturer (I was buying a Nikon) includes a battery that is only good for 15 minutes?! The more I thought about it, the more it didn't make sense and the more I felt like I was being taken for a ride. I called them at least 20 times today to ask various questions. Each time, their answers made less and less sense. I thought about it for a fews more minutes and then called them again and spoke with the same rep I'd been dealing with all day. My intent this time was to cancel the order. The rep's words, verbatim, were, "What now? You've called us like 55 times today. It's ridiculous." He was not pleased to hear from me again and tired of dealing with me. You could hear it in his voice. I promptly and firmly told him to cancel my order. He put me on hold for about minutes and came back to tell me it was canceled. I asked what surprise charges I may see on my credit card and he said, "None. It's been canceled." My question is this: to those of you who have had success in canceling orders, have you had any problems with getting the pending charges dropped from you credit card or any problems with a refund to the credit card?"

"I ordered a D80 package, called in and told it was in stock and ready to go. I opted not to buy the extras they were trying to sell me. Then the next day it was on backorder for 7-10 days. After a week, I called back, now it is 3 weeks backorded. I suspect that because I didn't order the expensive extras they won't actually ship it to me. I see the same comments all over the place on these guys."

"So I ordered the Panasonic HVX-205a - a P2 capable DVCProHD Camcorder. For 1,399. The cheapest price online!

They hadn't charged me by the next day so I called them. After a while, the same man kept transferring me to himself over and over again and then finally went over the order. He told me the camera didn't come with a charger, battery, viewfinder or LCD screen - it was a barebones body!

LOL. He placed the order anyway, at nearly three thousand dollars.

I called the bank and cancelled the card. I tried to call them back, but I got a message saying they were closed for the day. I told the bank not to let them charge my card.

If they attempt anything, I'm taking a train out to Brooklyn with ten of my toughest friends and we're gonna mess some people up.

They're located at:

5409 18th Avenue
in Brooklyn, New York."

"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
It's FRAUD. I never got any email confirmations except one saying to "Call to confirm".
Bait & switch indeed...they convince you to buy other stuff. My total went from being around $600 to $1078. I called to cancel, they told me it's been shipped out. I told them to provide a tracking number, they tell me you don't get a tracking number until UPS picks it up - LIE. My company works directly with UPS and the moment you print out the labels, you can get the tracking number. They started YELLING, asking me "WHY DO YOU WANNA CANCEL YOUR ORDER?!?!?!" Very rude, IMMATURE, not legitimate business. Let's bring these people down through the media & internet. I will be rejecting the package, disputing the transaction on my credit card. They told me I will be charged 25% restocking fee but that will not happen. They messed with the wrong person, I am going to blast them all over the internet. Their physical address is: 5407-5409 18th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11204"

"1wayphoto is a one-way ticket to disaster. I have never been more upset purchasing something online than I have during my brief experience with this store.

Yesterday morning I ordered a Nikon D80 packaged with some extras for a relatively modest price. A little less than 15 minutes later I received my online receipt. So far so good. A couple hours later a salesperson (whose name escapes my mind at the moment) called to ask for my security code on my credit card, then proceeded to say that the battery and charger do not come with the kit (which is completely untrue). He asked if I wanted a 2-hour or a 5-hour batter. At that point I suspected foul play somewhat but was too blinded by the low price. After saying a whole bunch of needless technical jargon that doesn't even make sense, he proceeded to charge me first 1349, then 1249, then 1449 after the 200-dollar insurance and handling fee (i.e., the expensive "free" shipping). An hour or so later I called back and asked for an online receipt for the new order. A customer service rep named Jason stated that he will email me the receipt, but it will take several hours for its "server" to send it to me. At this point I assume that their "server" is run by a turtle on a wheel. It's been more than 24 hours and still no receipt. But no matter, I sent an email yesterday to cancel the order, to which they replied (with absolutely no proper formatting and email etiquette) threatening that my "hasty decision" will cost me "a lot of money" according to their company policy, which is legally shoddy to say the least. I've already notified my credit card company, and will dispute all charges from 1wayphoto as well as refuse any deliveries coming from them. Do NOT buy from these bait-and-switch vendors!

Edit: They've just sent me the tracking order for the package that they had shipped on 3/26, even though I have already sent in my request for cancellation on 3/25. I'm not even sure if that's legal. I have already filed a dispute with the credit card company this morning, and will refuse all deliveries from this store.

Edit: It's been a month and still I'm fighting for every cent I deserve. They resolved a dispute with the credit card company but only gave me partial credit, claiming 370 dollars in shipping/handling/cancellation fees. I had to put in yet another dispute claiming service dissatisfaction in order for AMEX to start an actual fraud investigation on the transaction. I will fight to the death to get all my money back, and update all of you as this goes on.

Edit: I looked at their policies on their website today and noticed that they've added a clause saying they'll charge a penalty for refusals. Be careful! The battle's still ongoing for me with AMEX requesting more and more information from me."

If you ever made purchase, and now you are reading it, be very hurry!! take your action to get out of there, otherwise you will feel like
an greatest idiot in the world.
Don't waste your time with these scammers to try to fix the problem.
just call the bank, and file disputed claim,
that's what I did after I was hung up many times, and fooled by lies and lies,
I got sick and tired to deal with them, and I hope you don't need to go through that yourself. You really don't need to be nice to those people because the more you treat them nicely, they will try to fool you and use you.

I will skip my story because it is just same as others story here. But one thing, when I was
so desperate with this scam, I came here and read all these stories and I got couraged to take my action and I got my money back and returned the stuffs. I learned about BBB from here so I filed the repoert, filed disputed claim with my bank, and they helped me. So if you have same situation, talking to your bank would be the best way. Fight for your right.

"My experience was similar to most other reviewers. I purchased a camera, and received the email stating that I needed to call in my order. When I called, I was offered a extra battery for $150. (I later checked at found that this battery cost around $50 at Ritz camera!) The salesman stated that the battery included with the camera only lasted about 20 minutes. I declined. He tried to offer me a few more accessories that also seemed overpriced, and I told him I just wanted to try the camera before I purchased anything else. So we concluded and I was told the camera would arrive in about a week. Several days later, I got an email stating that the camera had been put on back order for 3-4 weeks and that I would get a call when it was to be shipped. Growing more uncertain with the legitimacy of this dealer, I begin to shop around again. I found this web site and saw the user rating of 1 way photo. I immeadiately called, cancelled my order and now I'm keeping an eye of my checking account because I do not trust these guys!"

"1WayPhoto.com:
I ordered a Canon camera "package" from them. They double-charged me for shipping, did not bother to include a $200 item, bait and switched me from nice canon lenses to super cheapo Sigma lenses, and the camera they sold me was a 'grey' camera, which I think, is an illegal copy. After I found that out, thanks to a poster here, I emailed them and told them I would turn this camera over to the police if they didn't credit my credit card back every penny. They hurredly did this.....after I'd been fighting them for a month. I had been filling out online forms for the BBB, FTC, and everybody else I could, and emailed 1WayPhoto a copy every time, and they gave me back some of my money, but it took the grey camera thing to get me back the rest of it. Oh yes, I forgot...I was charged, initially a total of $1180 for a package of stuff worth less than half of that. THAT is what you can expect when you do business with these people.
Thank you to this forum for providing me with the info it took to get my money back.
