I haven't used 1800flowers.com in about 3 years or so, but I tried them again last week and was extremely disappointed in the quality of the roses I bought. First off, they were shipped via Fedex in a box from Miami to Central Illinois. Not necessarily what I would call an ideal trip for a delicate flower. Secondly, when I opened the box, all of the flowers looked like they'd been withering and dying in the dark for days. They were awful. Then I noticed some literature they included printed on the box that said "Place in water for 8-12 hours and watch them revive!" Yeah right...what a waste of money. I'll never, ever order flowers from 1800flowers.com again and would advise against it for anyone else considering them as well.

Horrible service. Orchid plant not delivered on time, I was never notified, and they refused to give me a refund. I will never use them again. Next time will google a florist in neighborhood I'm sending instead.

I ordered the Fields of Ecuador bouquet and silver vase for my parents anniversary on 5/29 and unlike most of the reviews here I had an excellent experience!
The flowers came on time and were exactly as pictured and made my parents very happy.
It seems most of the negative reviews here center around Mother's Day and maybe they're all true, but I had an awesome experience and would definitely return.

All the reviews below sum it up for 1800flowers.com. I ordered flowers (large size) for Mother's Day on May 6th with a delivery date of May 9th (a day before mothers day). I called my Mom on Mother's Day (May 10th) and asked if she liked the gift I sent. Well, to my surprise, she said she didn't receive a package. So on Monday, the 11th, i call customer service to find out what's going on with my order. They gave me an excuse that the florist they ordered through had a system failure and were backed up on several orders. They told me they would deliver them today (Monday), and that they'd upgrade my order to "even more flowers and we'll add a balloon and a note of apology, as well as send me a $20 gift card" for future use as compensation. I said, that's fine. My mom called me on Tuesday night stating no flowers were delivered. I call customer service back again on Wednesday the 13th (on hold for literally 30 mins before anyone answered) and am pretty heated this time. The customer service rep puts me on hold to call the florist again, comes back after 5 mins and says, "you have two options, you can either have them delivered today and receive a 50% refund, or you can cancel your order and receive a full refund" After arguing with the guy for a bit, I chose option 1, as I still wanted my Mother to recieve her flowers. He told me they'd deliver the flowers today (Wednesday). I was skeptical as i heard this 2 days ago. Wednesday night rolls around and I get a call from my Mom stating, again, that the flowers were not delivered. I'm livid at this point. My dad calls me this morning (Thursday) and says they were finally delivered. He took pictures of what came. There was no balloon, no apology letter, and the there were less flowers delivered than what the picture on 1800flowers.com showed. I wish I would have read these reviews first before making a purchase, that's my own fault. At least I received 50% of my money back, but WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will gladly pay a little more money and go through a local florist from now on. This review was modified by its author, NokturnaL909, on

2 days delay on Mothers Day delivery, was unable to track the order online, lied about their 100% customer's satisfaction, will never shop there again, and do not recommend anyone to order from 1800flowers.
This review is written after I finally after 2 calls, spending a lot of time on hold, and asking where are my flowers, finally received flowers May 13 in the evening, they promised flowers on May 11th,if I did not call no flowers would be delivered at all, 1800flowers obviously do not know whether the customer received flowers. Still will never shop with them again, it was not pleasant experience at all! This review was modified by its author, crystallclear, on

I wish I would have read these reviews before ordering. Ordered flowers for Mother's day. Of course they said they "tried" to deliver but no one was home, even though my mother never left the house. It is impossible to reach them by phone and emails to their "customer service" go unanswered. I wound up disputing the charge with my credit card and ordering from a local florist instead. Mom got the flowers the day after mother's day thanks to these jerks....Never again!!

*** 5/22***Followup from my earlier post***
As a result of 4 phone calls and 12 e-mails which included sending photos of the damaged product, 1800flowers finally sent my Mom a new flower basket. Of course they didn't have what I originally ordered but claimed to have sent a higher priced item. It appears based on their site, it does cost approx. $10.00 more. Also it was delivered by a local florist, not shipped UPS. It took one week of both me and my mom contacting them to get this straightened out. I was told, in my final conversation with a customer service supervisor, that my order had been deleted and they could not validate my complaint however by sending my e-mail confirmation and my order number multiple times, they were able to correct it. Grrrr...
I placed an order on 5/5/09 for delivery of a flower basket by 5/8/09 (In time for Mothers Day).
I received a confirmation that my order would be delivered by 5/8/09.
On 5/9/09 I received an e-mail confirmation that my order was just shipping and would be delivered by 5/8/09. Excuse me? It just shipped, a day late, obviously it was not going to make it there as promised.
I contacted the company by e-mail and advised them I would never order through them again as this was the 2nd time this happened with this same company. They sent me a "credit of $20.00" for future use :(
My Mom received the gift basket today 5/11. The box was damaged, the basked overturned and dirt all over the place. It was supposed to be the daffodil garden. The tips are broken on the plants that have started sprouting. Not only was her Mother's day gift late, it is totally defective. But hey, I have my $20.00 credit for future purchase!
So much for their 100% satisfaction guarantee This review was modified by its author, WackieJ, on

APPALLED! Complete failure to deliver a bouquet that even resembled what I had ordered. The arrangement was supposed to be "Plum Crazy" with lots of purple flowers... what was delivered? Pink and white and some other random greenery. Oh, but there was one purple flower so I guess that counts. And don't get me started on size - the LARGE arrangement I ordered was supposed to be approx 17"x15" in a vase. What was delivered was 7"x8" in a 3" square jar looking thing - that was RED. 1-800-Flowers should be completely ashamed of themselves. And when I called Customer Service to get my "satisfaction guaranteed" all they would do is either credit me 20% or give me a $20 credit towards my next purchase. HA, like anyone in their right mind would bother ordering from them again. So, even if you only get 50% of you had ordered and paid for, they're only willing to give you 20% of it back. My recommendation to everyone wanting to get flowers - go to Safeway and hand-deliver... the quality and quantity will be much greater.

Okay, So they suck after reading these reviews I'm ashamed of my self for not doing so before ordering I always used my local florist before but decided to give 1800 flowers a try. That was a huge mistake the flowers were late and did not look at all like what I had ordered for my bffs birthday they were so bad I sent another bouquet from my local florist on top of the other order. 1-800 flowers would only offer me a 15% refund for a late deliveery and dead flowers I told them were to stick there 15% and that I had just learned a big lesson!! Always use a local shop all 1800 flowers does is take 15 to 30% of your money and then expect you to be happy with whatever a shop sends you. They put the flower shops in a bad place by only giving them part of the money so you think you order a $50.00 arrangment then they give them $30.00 or so and expect you to be happy with what is sent. I DON'T THINK SO!!! SHOP LOCAL AND YOU WILL GET THE FULL VALUE!!

It's unfair that you can't give fewer than 1 star.
For starters, I ordered 6 items for the girlfriend's birthday:
Stuffed puppy plush
Box of assorted chocolate dipped items (ie: pretzels, etc.)
Box of assorted chocolates
Box of assorted taffies <sp?>
3 dozen assorted colored roses
Half dozen mylar balloons
I envisioned her having a fantastic birthday surprise when all of these goods were delivered to her at the workplace. They would walk in with all of this stuff, all heads turned, and her desk would be loaded. Instead, the following happened:
1.) Day before her birthday, the stuffed puppy plush arrived in a UPS box delivered with the rest of their UPS deliveries. With it was a note mentioning the other items, so the entire surprise was completely blown.
2.) Day of her birthday, the chocolate dipped items, roses, and taffy arrived. All in UPS boxes. She even had to unpack and assemble the "bouquet" of roses as can be seen here: www.javin-inc.com/flowers.jpg (image on the right is what they advertise, image on the left is what she got after pulling everything out of the UPS boxes.)
3.) Balloons and assorted chocolates arrived an hour and a half before closing time.
4.) Called 1800FLOWERS and they offered what amounted to a 2% refund (not 20%). When I asked to speak to a supervisor, was put on hold for half an hour and hung up on. Called back to be put on hold for a full hour before being hung up on.
5.) They completely ignore the fact that they state "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" on their site. If you mention it on the phone, they pretend not to hear it.
I cannot begin to describe how horrible this company is. They are blatant thieves, and scammers. They took me for literally hundreds of dollars.

1-800-flowers doesn't even deserve one star. They can't be trusted.
From the website I ordered some quite ordinary memorial flowers to be delivered to a Midwest funeral home one day before the viewing, and two before the funeral. I received an email confirmation of the order plus an unhyphenated 15-digit order number and an address to track my order.
On the second day, when the flowers were to have been delivered, the order tracker on the site still listed my order but no further information. So I called the funeral home and they said had not received the flowers or any messages. I called the 1-800-flowers customer service line and was asked to input the 15-digit number. I was connected to a telephone answerer who could barely understand my English except for the order number which she asked me to give verbally. She looked up the order while I was kept on hold for nearly an hour listening to a junky loop of Vivaldi and Mozart , and finally was informed that they hadn't filled the order. Could they fill it in time for the funeral, at least? No. Why didn't you email or phone me? No explanation.. Why hadn't their order tracking page given any information? It doesn't work. At no point was I offered any explanation or even an apology.
After further delay, I was offered a credit card refund. I do not yet know whether they performed that -- I have had no communication from them.
Before writing this review I checked the order tracking site, and it said that the order was canceled. That is false: the order was simply not fulfilled. They hadn't informed me although they had email and phone numbers to do so, and they hadn't informed the funeral home although they had its contact information as well.

My girlfriend received the Sweetest Love bouquet the day before Valentines Day and the whole order was messed up. The flowers came in a big ugly vase and she didn't even know it was the flowers that she talked about 24/7 until I told her. I paid $15 for the chocolate truffles in the quilted heart box and she got assorted chocolate in a paper Garfeld box. The card on the flowers read " Happy Valentines Day!love Always & Foreverkevin". There were no spaces. Love and Kevin were not capitalized. Everything that could've went wrong did go wrong and our Valentines was screwed up because they didn't get my order right. I talked to someone over the phone and they were going to send her more flowers usuing a different florist. She went to work early the day she was suppose to get the flowers cause she was excited about getting them at work. She never received them because the person lied to me and never put the order in. I called back again and the lady I talked to gave me a full refund and a different redelivery date. This person also lied to me and didn't put the order in. I called back again and talked to another lady and she was suppose to set a redelivery date for today but she charged me $140 for them. This is the worst service I've ever had through any business and I'm tired of being lied to and these people trying to rip me off. I spent my last penny on these flowers and it was suppose to be a special day for my girlfriend. However, it turned out to be a nightmare and here it is over a week and nothing has been resolved yet. I will never do business with these guys again and you shouldn't either!!!

I ordered flowers for Valentines day from this company and a week later they still had not been delivered. A sorry excuse for a company with that kind of service. I will never use this company again.

Three strikes you're out! First I ordered flowers and they came a week early. Then I ordered again because they gave me two $10 gift certificates (in error, I was only supposed to get one, they can't even do that right but at least that was in my favor)and those arrived a day late then after a long period of time I decided to give them one more chance. Big mistake! I order flowers for my grandmother's 90th birthday, she might get them 3 days after her birthday if she's lucky! I'm done with 1800flowers! Also when I emailed my complaint I got a rude response from the customer service person who didn't know what he was talking about. I gladly set him straight and of course I received no response or apology. The flowers did finally arrive not looking as good as they would have if they had been delivered on time. They do have a nice assortment of flowers it's just too bad they can't get them delivered on time and that they have rude customer service people and obviously don't care about their customers or losing business. I will never buy from them again, I did not receive the right order. I ordered a dozen red roses in a red vase with baby's breath for Valentine's day. They said the roses would be delivered prepared. There was no vase and the flowers were in a box wrapped in plastic. I contacted customer service to get a refund or get my order re-sent (late because valentine has passed) and they said they would give me a twenty percent off coupon for my next purchase. I responded again saying they were going to lose a loyal customer if they did not meet my needs and they sent a e-mail saying that they had credited 20% of my order back to my credit card. I said thanks for the $15 I will never purchase from you again.
