Ordered a Sigma 150-500mm Nikon lens off ebay on 5/20, credit card was billed on 5/21, got the email with shipment confirmation on 5/21 saying it will arrive on 5/26, as well as another one on 5/22.
On 5/26 I stayed home from work to sign for package, checked tracking it said billing info recieved. Called 47th street, they said they were out of stock of the item.
I checked their online store and it was available and in stock for about $170 more than the ebay listing I had won (supposedly).
I requested a cancellation on the 26th so I could order from a more reputable dealer, didnt get confirmation email on the cancellation until the 28th.
Still awaiting credit back to my card, which I am not worried about - that can take a few days to show up.
Very dissapointed, since their reseller rating looked good. There is no excuse to "sell out" of an item with any computer-based inventory tracking system, they just didnt want to sell it at the lower price on ebay when the lens value has gone up due to demand.
UPDATE - June 4th, still have not refunded my card for item they never shipped, so now in dispute with credit card company. Thank goodness I didnt use paypal!
ANOTHER UPDATE - June 11th, they have STILL not refunded the money that they charged my card for an item they never shipped, despite sending me confirmation on the cancel and several calls. Total scammers.
