Horrible experience thus far. Ordered a Sigma 17-70 F/2.8 for my Canon 40D. Really needed it for the weekend, so I paid an extra $10 for 2-day shipping. Seven days later ... still no camera, though the charge had hit my CC account. So I called, they offer to overnight the lens, only to receive the Sigma in a Nikon mount. Still waiting to hear back from them ...

Terrible service, rec'd wrong items, no response to 3 emails and phone calls. Items rec'd were cheaper and inferior to what I ordered and paid for. Company will not respond to repeated requests to call or email me back and no one answers the phone there when I try to call. I will never use this company again.

I tried to place an online order for a Canon lens. My order would not go through because it kept telling me the address on my card was not correct (it is my debit card, of course it is correct!) So I call them to place the order. The phone is answered. Call goes as follows:
I state name and say I wish to place order.
-Guy says "what item?"
I give item number.
-He says "What is the description?"
I tell him.
-He quickly says "not in stock ma'am."
I start to say, uh it says...
Guy immediately cuts me off and very rudely says "I told you it's not in stock!!"
Web site clearly states item is in stock, offers free shipping and can ship within 24-48 hrs!!!!!
I will NOT be calling this company again.

Ordered a Sigma 150-500mm Nikon lens off ebay on 5/20, credit card was billed on 5/21, got the email with shipment confirmation on 5/21 saying it will arrive on 5/26, as well as another one on 5/22.
On 5/26 I stayed home from work to sign for package, checked tracking it said billing info recieved. Called 47th street, they said they were out of stock of the item.
I checked their online store and it was available and in stock for about $170 more than the ebay listing I had won (supposedly).
I requested a cancellation on the 26th so I could order from a more reputable dealer, didnt get confirmation email on the cancellation until the 28th.
Still awaiting credit back to my card, which I am not worried about - that can take a few days to show up.
Very dissapointed, since their reseller rating looked good. There is no excuse to "sell out" of an item with any computer-based inventory tracking system, they just didnt want to sell it at the lower price on ebay when the lens value has gone up due to demand.
UPDATE - June 4th, still have not refunded my card for item they never shipped, so now in dispute with credit card company. Thank goodness I didnt use paypal!
ANOTHER UPDATE - June 11th, they have STILL not refunded the money that they charged my card for an item they never shipped, despite sending me confirmation on the cancel and several calls. Total scammers. This review was modified by its author, bigdumbdane, on

Had a photo shoot on Saturday and called 47th St Photo for a grip 4 days before the shoot. I offered to pay for overnight shipping and the guy there told me that there was no need so I gave him CC info and he promised I'd have it by Friday. A week goes by and I still haven't got the grip, nor any answer to my emails.
When I call to ask what's going on, I'm yelled at by a customer service rep saying that it was pretty much my fault and that he doesn't want to hear anything I have to say. I was so taken back that I asked to speak with a manager who was nicer but said that emails are a very unreliable way to communicate and he wasn't surprised that I didn't get a response (hello, it's 2009 and for people that live on the road it's much easier to email).
Turns out that after checking my order number, my grip didn't even ship yet!! A whole week went by and they didn't even ship the order to me. I would not do business with this company again. Stick to the people you trust, Cameta Camera or Amazon.

UPS rescheduled the delivery of my purchase for a later date. 47th street photo shipped on 5-11 and I will get (supposedly) the lenses on 5-19. That is too long for almost $9 shipping. Now neg feedback for you on eBay.
UPS is not a reliable shipper.
I had no say in the shipping company or method.
I am dissatisfied with paying $9 when these could have been shipped USPS priority mail for less and I would have received them by now.
Very Dissatisfied!

Here is a company to avoid. thety send a broken 300 doallr tripod i purchased on ebay. i told them and they send ups to pick it up for a return, after awile they finally sent another package. the problem was it was the the exact same broken tripod. i asked again for a return and they finally sent an email for me to print a ups label and return it. when i took it to ups the shipping label had expired. i tried to call and email them and never received a reply. i found out it was not too late for paypal refund and too late to provide feedback on ebay.
buy at you own risk.
ripped me off for 300

Bottom Line: Paid for 2nd-day shipping, arrived late, no response at all to multiple emails to sales and support staff. Terrible customer service!
I ordered a Sigma 50mm F1.4 lens for Sony mount on 3/24 by calling on the phone. I spoke with Ely and he agreed that if I placed the order on 3/24, that he would ship it that day, for delivery on 3/26 with a 2-day shipping charge of $14.95. On 3/24, I got a shipping notification from UPS with a tracking#. On 3/25, I checked the tracking# - UPS had not yet received the package. I called Ely on 3/25, he said he was aware that it had not been shipped as promised, and would ship it next-day at no extra charge on 3/25 for delivery on 3/26. On 3/26, I checked the UPS tracking# - the package had been shipped, but was still 2nd-day, with a rescheduled delivery date of 3/27 (a day late). I sent Ely & customer support multiple emails over a 3 day period asking first "where is my item, and why is it late", and then "please credit me the $14.95 shipping since it's late". I got absolutely NO response to SEVEN emails!

Terrible - stay away from them. Zero communication even with several attempts. I am stuck with a five hundred dollar lens that is worthless to me. They don't even answer the phone during supposed business hours.

I ordered an Opteka 77mm Close-Up Set (+1, +2, and +4) with 10x Macro Lens from 47th Street Photo on 12/9/08. I tried to order it on Amazon from the same dealer but there was no way to order a specific size (77mm) through Amazon's site so I called 47th Street Photo directly. The rep said that they had the 77mm set in stock so I ordered it for $24.95 + shipping of $4.95. I received it a few days later (very good time). However, what they sent was a 67mm set with a 77mm-to-67mm adapter. Not good. This is backwards. My lenses are 77mm. Anyway, I called them and they said they would send a return label to me which they did. I returned the item and tracked it until it was delivered to their store at 8:10am on 12/26/08. On 12/30/08 I got an email that said they had credited my credit card for $24.95 (no shipping charge was to be credited). By 1/5/09 I still did not see the credit on my account so I sent an email to them asking about the refund and also why the shipping charge was not added to the refund since it was their fault. The only response I received was that they had credited the account on 12/30/08. So then I called them and explained the situation to the rep who answered the call. She checked the refund and said that it had not gone through and that she would resend it. I verified the credit card number for her and also told her that since the error was their fault they should refund the shipping charges also. She agreed and said that it would be taken care of. Two days later and it still has not been resolved so I turned the issue over to my credit card company as a dispute. Hopefully it will get resolved soon. I will not order anything from this company again even through Amazon.
Update: Looked up my CC account and the $29.90 has been credited to my account. Haven't heard from 47th Street Photo so I assume my credit card company made it happen. This review was modified by its author, Binks, on

Ordered before 10am on 12/30/2008. Paid for expedited shipping. A shipping confirmation email was sent same day at 1:43pm. It included a UPS tracking number. I expected item to arrive on 1/2/2009. As of 9:00pm on 1/2/2009 UPS still shows they have not received the item, just the electronic billing information.
Item should have been received today, 1/2/2009 even if UPS ground to a halt on 1/1/2009.
This isn't good service.

Our company ordered two Sigma zoom lenses from 47th street photo in August. We received them in a timely manner. When we tried the lenses, we found significant flaws in both. One was impossible to get to auto focus. The second had a flaw with the glass that caused photos to be unacceptably noisy. We tried these lenses on 3 different slr cameras and had the same result. We are professional wedding photographers, and certainly know what we are doing with our cameras and lenses, so I know it was not user error. We contacted 47th to return them, and was told they don't supply prepaid airbills. We did explain the problems we had with the lenses and were assured we would NOT be charged a restocking fee. We sent them back at 12.00 shipping at our expense. We received only a partial refund, minus restocking fees the following week. When we contacted a supervisor, he apologized for not sending out lables, and said they don't actually test returns as they come in anyhow. He promised a full refund within a week. When that refund never came, we called to inquire as to why. The extremely rude "supervisor" said the previous supervisor shouldn't have told us there would be another refund coming. She then hung up on me. Twice. We are now pursing a chargeback with our credit card company, as this appears to be the only way to actually get a refund out of this extremely rude, disorganized compnay.
