The website is very slow. It takes over a week for them to even send the goods out. They have no telephone, snail mail or email contact details, you can only contact them via their online form. It then takes almost another week for them to respond. An utterly dreadful service.

Ordered on the 17th October 2 items, one being a 250Gb USB2 external hard drive - card debited same day. Goods delivered on 19th but drive was an 80Gb Firewire.
24th received a RTA number to return wrong drive which was collected 26th.
Now it is 8th November and I'm still waiting for a refund (as requested if there was going to be a delay) or the correct goods which I have noted have been out of stock since the 26th October.
There is no telephone support, only an enotes system which prohibits a follow up note until responded to or the first withdrawn and the 4 or more days starts over for a reply.

Updated 29/11/04:
Well, after a lot of shouting, fair dues to eBuyer, they finally got the kit to me and even refunded the postage in full (only fair as I'd paid extra for next day delivery). I stand by my original statement of them being very good if everything goes smoothly, but just be aware that if things don't - you could be in for a rocky ride. So my advice has to be if it is a little more expensive elsewhere, you might want to pay a bit extra for customer service. Your choice.

Original Post:
eBuyer may be one of the cheapest for computer equipment, but over the last few months I have become increasingly dissatisfied with them.
My most recent experience involved trying to purchase a wireless modem router. This was shown as being in stock. Due to technical problems at home, rather than suffer the frustration of a teenage boy being without internet access, I ordered this for next day delivery. I also ordered a couple of other items. My order was accepted and their web site showed that 3 boxes would be shipped to me. The next day 2 boxes were shipped. I checked the web site, no sign of anything saying partial shipping so I contacted the courier company who informed me they only collected 2 boxes. They do not publicise phone numbers or email addresses but insist on enotes. The problem is with enotes is that you can only have 1 open at a time - I already had an open query relating to my previous order, so I tried raising an RMA request - just to get the message through, these just got deleted. I have now cancelled my original enote (which hadn't been actioned after 6 days even though they say 2) just so I might bet some response. If not, I shall have to consider visiting them in person with my very large dog in tow.

Previously had good experances of ebuyer - their automated systems are very good. Prices are low and I have reccomended them in the past.

However in my last order I was sent a non uk modem and a faulty processor. A month on and I'm still waiting for my replacements....

Ebuyer are good until something goes wrong, after then your going to have your work cut out even getting a response from them. As they have now stopped phone contact, you can only communicate via a ticket system which leaves you waiting between a week and 10 days between responses.

Would I use them again? No way, I'd pay the extra few quid just to know if anything goes wrong, it'll be fixed by a professional company.

Update: Over a month on I still hadn't received any goods from them. They didn't reply to any notes I left them. Ended up getting my card issuer to refund the money. Try www.aria.co.uk much better.

I found the prices on ebuyer are pretty good in general. But I was so disappointed by their customer service and return service. I got an incorrect delivery and was unable to have ebuyer to get me the right one. It has a online return system, but it only told me to contact the manufacturor instead. But why should I contact a manufacturor that does not make the item I purchased?
Ebuyer also has a enote system, which claims to be able to give "speedy" response to customers. I left three "enotes" on their server and got no reponse after a week. There is simply no way to email them.
They have a phone number which is always busy. I have been calling for three days and was never able to call in.
Think about this situation if you want to buy anything from ebuyer.

Right where to start. I was purchasing a DDR Ramchip as after SP2 and new Hardware my computer seemed to be running slow, due to the amount on new processes running.

As I had used kelkoo to find the DVD Burner, which I had no problems with, was cheap and was a high spec one, I used them again and they came up with the cheapest prices at eBuyer.

I found their website easy to navigate, and easy to use. The ordering process seemed fairly easy and I promptly received confirmation of my order.

As I ordered using the standard service the part was supposed to be delivered on the Monday after placing my order. It didn't show. It came the day after meaning they hadn't dispatched it until the day it should've been arriving.

So I took the PC apart and fitted the Chip, put everything back together again (the worst part of upgrading is stripping/reassembling the cables) and switched the PC on. Got a nice reassuring beep, got to my main BIOS screen and froze. And carried on freezing. So I reset the system, with the same result. In case of incompatibility issues with my existing chip (there shouldn't have been, same spec and BUS speed) I tried it on its own. This gave me the added advantage of DIMM Slot problems. Nothing. No Beep, no power nothing.

I went back to the eBuyer website to find out how to return the part. Turns out you have to raise an RMA, of which the first option is Dead On Arrival, which didn't reassure me in the slightest. If you don't they won't accept it.

Posted it the next day (at my own expense at less than half the price they quoted for delivery) and they received it the day after. This is where the fun and games began.

It took over a week for them to admit they had received the part and admit it was faulty, during which time I had made 3 phone calls and 1 e-note (which was never replied to) chasing this up (the phone calls lasted about 20 minutes each in a queue, for about 1 minute of unhelpful service with no apologies, at a premium rate of 9p per minute).

They then sent me a replacement which should have arrived on the 20/09/04, however in line with their earlier fiasco was received on the 21st.

Once again the part didn't work. As I no longer wanted a duplicate part, as I had no trust in that make, I tried to raise another RMA. It took 4 attempts over 2 days for this to work, and to date I don't know what their intentions are as they have not said whether they are going to replace for another make or refund my monies.

I would not recommend this company to anyone, for further reviews on how bad their post sales service is try dooyoo.com, and read up on the horror stories which seem to have been the norm, rather than a freak incident. Also note the timescale this is not a recent problem, and they have made no attempts to resolve them.

I attempted to use Ebuyer.com in the UK. Will never use them again. Can't recommend any part of the service.

I ordered several peripherals and a tower case. They turned up a day late causing an extra day to be taken off work. So far I assume the peripherals are in working order but I can;t verify this as I don't have my own computer to test them in as the case and associated PSU arrived mangled. The fascia was smashed, the PSU was no longer secured to rear of the case, the sides were dented and scratched, even the overall shape was no longer square. Incidentally the package showed no damage whatsoever.. yup it was packed like it, nice. No blaming this one on the courier. It has been two weeks now since I requested an RMA and I'm still waiting. They won't contact me by email as I have requested (a legal obligation, I might add... check trading standards) leaving me no option but use their awful Enote system, akin to a bulletin board, which they clearly don't read. After many msg's left there the only replies of any note I have had are prestructured 'how-to-request-RMA' notes. Despite the fact I had alrdy requested one as can plainly be see due to the fact their system won't let make another, they still send these notes. I was complaining about their return policy which attempts to charge the buyer for return postage, something I not willing to accept as this case should never have been sent in the first place. Clearly they haven't read my Enotes as they only send the how-to notes back, if I'm lucky, usually I get no response. Also, every complaint I make is forwarded to a different 'advisor/rep' implying to me they are either all incompetent, ignorant, uncaring or all of the above.

Conclusion - terrible moneygrabbing service, use at your own peril

I ordered and paid for a 512mb Lexar compactflash card from ebuyers.com on June 16th. On June 22nd I received a 64mb Lexar memory stick. I called ebuyer.com and a person took down my email address and state she would send me the return info - it never came so I went on line to initiate the return process. Once my return request was accepted, Ebuyer.com did not offer to pay any shipping charges for the return and stated it would take 14 days to resolve the problem once they received my return. Because I am uncomfortable with this company and because of the the money involved, I will be returning the wrong product w/ a return receipt. This company has very poor customer service and return procedures as compared to other companies.

2nd order with ebuyer.com, I ordered the wrong product and needed to send it back. Filled out their RMA request form. 1 week later they still hadn't issued one. I had to call. They hemmed and hawed but promised an RMA number. Still nothing. Called again, they were reluctant but promised again. 5 days later, still nothing. I filled out a complaint on their site and they told me that they have a "relationship" with the hardware maker that prevents them from accepting merchandise returns. Huh?!

I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company and shipped the items back to them anyway. Same result for me, although it was painful. I'll never order from ebuyer.com again.

Low prices aren't necessarily always better because it usually means the customer service suffers. Beware.

Have had absolutely nothing but non stop problems with this company... They have a huge variety of products however their customer support and attitude towards their customers just sucks... Ive spent thousands with them and have been sent broken components, damaged processors, dead memory, some items ive never even received am still waiting for some items which where supposed to have been sent months ago, am still waiting for a reply about a missing wireless keyboard and mouse... My latest order is half missing, the ebuyer website says there are 4 packages the delivery company says there are 2, half the items are missing, a couple of hundred pounds worth, need the system working by tommorow but wont hold my breath that their customer support will reply... lol, once I even paid £45 for a new nice designer tower case, when I got it I had been sent someone elses smashed returned case, the whole front panel was cracked, they expected me to send the whole steel case back at my own cost just ended up keeping the case... This company is a nightmare and probably run by the devil :o( am currently going to be writting to small claims court to try and resolve this because the companies pathetic...

I bought a joystick listed as "In Stock" from them once. It took over 2-weeks to get it! Lots of good reviews for this place, so I thought maybe it's a fluke... I gave them another chance, ordered a D-Link wireless LAN card this time. Guess what? 2-full weeks later and NOTHING. You have to use the dropdown menu to get to Order Status, because the link on the top right corner "Track Your Order", doesn't work. Order status says my item is "On Order". Their realtime stock still says there's 425 left!!! The "ship by" date at the bottom is 2-weeks AFTER I placed my order. This place STINKS. I hate them.

Placed an order and realised when I got the confirmation email that I had ordered the oem product when I wanted the retail boxed. I TRIED to cancel the order and found that I could only cancel it within 5 mins of placing it. I tried emails but they are rejected as they dont want to talk to yu once you have placed the order. I used their enotes and it was ignored. The next contact was from them telling me that they ahd sent the item.
Abysmal service, I expect to be able to contact an internet retailer using email and not to have my enote ignored - and reassigned to another person.
I now wish that I had wited for a reputable company to get the stock of the item I required. I will now have to contact the credit card company and teh mags to get this sorted.

Company does not use e-mail, and their e-notes web-mail system did not work with any browser I have loaded. My only alternative was a toll call, just to get the receipt they did not provide, and over an hour of my time was thus wasted.

PURCHASED SD CARD FOR CAMERA. ORDER WAS AWAITING DISPATCH & I WANTED TO CANCEL IT BECAUSE THE CARD WAS AVAILABLE AT A LOCAL RETAILER. I WENT TO MY ORDER, BUT THE COMPANY HAS NO MECHANISM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO CANCEL, EVEN THOUGH THE ORDER WAS NOT SHOWN AS SHIPPED. AFTER A NOTE AND A CALL STATING I WANTED TO CANCEL, E-BUYER SHIPPED IT OUT ON TUESDAY, ANYWAY. THEY ALSO CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD RIGHT AWAY (PRIOR TO SHIPMENT).
