BEST PRICE CAMERAS.

BEFORE YOU BUY, CALL THE 800 NUMBER and listen to the voice over and how they pride themselves with customer service, also, please note all the scam icons referring to their "trusted seller rating" Give me a %$@#!? break. Unfortunately, the NY and NJ Better Business Bureau are as bad as these guys. There have been thousands of complaints and the BBB simply turns their heads. As you can see by the hundreds of comments below, and more importantly, this company's ratings over the last 6 months, along with their lifetime rating, this organization is nothing but garbage, like the people who work there. Best Price Camera, along with many of the companies out of Jersey and NY with the name camera or photo in them, are nothing but scum, thieves and scam artists, (artist is used figuratively here) If you plan to proceed to place an order, my first suggestion to you is "USE YOUR AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD." AMEX won't put up with these ripoffs if they fail to provide you with a product. If your fortunate enough to receive your item, you may find your bill much higher than you agreed to to, Let AMEX know and you will not be charged for what you did not agree to. Secondly, some of us have begun to turn the tables on these guys. With a little bit of time on our hands, we have been calling them acting like we want to place phone orders, asking all kinds of questions on different products, after about 20 minutes of questions and pissing these guys off, we let them know how pathetic they really are. It totally catches them off guard and I love to hear the silence from these guys. What's most interesting is they are so caught off guard that they forget to hang up on you like they usually do with there other customers. Their pride won't let them hang up. Give it a try, give these guys a run for their money!

One more fool and fooled. I wanted to buy a Sony A700 and stumbled across their offerings on eBay. The prices were good and so was the selection. Since I am in Belgium I mailed them for banking info so I could make a wire transfer. I got a pretty prompt reply with the information. I then wired them $1,534 for a kit, thus out of eBay, agains their policies and stripping me of any recourse. Since nothing, no word no reply to my mails (30 +). From abroad one cannot call any toll-free number so they are pretty snug there.
I filed a somplaint with the NY better business bureau for what it's worth (it seems that there are already over 700 complaints against them on file !). Somebody in these reviews asked if there was a lawyer with an axe to grind. It seems to be getting to such proportions that it warrants class action suit, if there is ever one, count me in!
No invoice cumber but proof of transfer avaialble

The order was overpriced by $121 in comparison with the price list on their WEB site. The salesperson explained that it covers the brokerage fees and the price is very good. But on the delivery I had to pay $ 73.85 brokerage fee to the importer.
The shipment was in addition to it short of a 5 hour lithium battery, for a price of $179.99 that supposed to include a second battery free of charge according to their add. During my phone call, the vendor promised to ship the missing item but no notification of the shipment was ever received even after my e-mail request for a confirmation of the shipment

Oh, you have got to be kidding...these complete morons will screw you in a NY minute and laugh in your face...

I was really pissed after the way I was treated by their so-called customer service

This is their internet policy:

We do our best to ensure that you enjoy a smooth & pleasant online shopping experience. If you prefer, you can always contact us by phone or e-mail to make a purchase, resolve a difficulty, or simply request information from our knowledgeable & courteous staff. A representative will be available to assist you during the following hours:

courteous staff ?????

smooth & pleasant online shopping experience.????

You MUST be kidding...

I just want to express my TOTAL dissatisfaction at the insane way I was treated, and the way they do business

the staff is rude, disrespectful, and ignorant

their so-called customer service staff is without a doubt just plain immature

where do they hires these PUNKS from...some street gang

Personally, I will be watching my credit card charges now that they have it....

First, I placed two internet orders
and got email reply to call and confirm my orders

ken x283
chris 244

For each order I called the next day, and got put on hold three or four times, obviously because both times both Ken and Chris were obviously talking to several other customers at one time, and every time they got back on the phone they asked me what my order number was, when I had just told him 5 minutes ago...what kind of way is this to treat a customer

Then after 20 minutes of playing phone tag ...they finally CONFIRMED my order and stated I should get my order in 3-4 weeks.

Let's repeat that... both Ken and Chris CONFIRMED my order and stated I should get my order in 3-4 weeks.

Not that I MIGHT get my order... or that I Might have to wait another 3-4 weeks because it is backordered

So I waited 4 weeks, and then called back Chris, who I had confirmed the order with...because his email stated that he would be handling my order...and what does he say...he says I have to talk to customer service

Oh, so now he no longer is handling my order, first he was... but now he is not...what is this???.

So, I called customer service and after 30 minutes of waiting, I explained the problem, and I am told I have to wait ...ANOTHER 3-4 weeks...an then I am asked "do I want to wait"..

I say "it would have been nice if someone had bothered emailing me that"...

But their immature customer service PUNK tells me to stop whining ...WHAT...what kind of way is this to treat a customer who has been waiting now for over a month.

I explain that I was not told it was on backorder...I explained that my order was confirmed and I was told specifically that I should get my order in 3-4 weeks.

He again tells me to stop whining, and then he decides that he is going to cancel my order WITHOUT my agreement, and then he hangs up on me.

This business is a complete and total farce...the staff is pathetic and rude and doesn't understand even simple common courtesy

OH, BTW, I just placed an order with Abe's and I will have my camera in 3 days,
and... I let them know how Best Price Camera had just screwed with me

They said...yea we have heard this before !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER.....EVER....order anything from these
arrogant...conceited...immature...morons

This has to be the worse company I have ever tried to do business with. I
Cannot understand how they stay in business with their unscrupulous tactics.
I ordered a Canon EOS Rebel XTI Camera package from their website at a
Price of $449.00. It included the camera, one lens (18-55) 1GB Memory Card
Card Reader LCD Screen protectors, Lens Cleaning Kit, Camera Case, Table
Tripod, Full size tripod, Lens Pouch, Cap Keeper and Wrist Strap. It even included
A free MP4 Player!!! All of this was listed on the website so I copied and printed it for reference.
The next night I receive a call from Victor (ext. 202) who tells me that I must
Purchase a battery for the camera in order to use the camera and did I want
The 2 hour battery or the 5 hour battery He recommended the 5 hour battery
For $168.00. I told him I did not want his battery. And he said OK but the camera
Will not work without it. (I felt he was trying to upsell me with this offer) Most all
Cameras come with a battery included. Then he told me that there would be a
Shipping and handling charge and I told him the shipping was listed as free on
The website. He said they could not ship and handle the camera for free and make
Any money and that I would need to pay a shipping charge.
After I hung up I became more and more aggravated and convinced that I had
Just been duped by some slick New Yorker.
(They already have a terrible reputation for this practice). So I called
Back to ask to cancel my order. Customer service put me on hold and I
Held for 20 minutes before I spoke with Chris, gave him my order
Number and told him that I wanted to cancel my order he put me on hold again
And it was another 20 minutes before he came back and he told me that it
Had been done. I ask him for a conformation number and he said I did not
Need one that it had been taken care of. This was on December 5, 2007.

On December 15, UPS delivered a Camera with a charger and battery and standard disk and manual and warranty which could be questionable and a sales slip for $629.99. None of the extra "bait" was shipped at all. I called
My credit card company and told them to dispute the charge (all of it). I will see if I can
Aggravate them as much as they have me. Someone needs to do a class action suit
Against this fradulent company. I cannot believe there are so many complaints(on this website and others) about
This company for the same thing over and over.

I regret that I had not read the reviews here at resellerratings.com before purchasing a camera from Best Price Cameras. Like many of you, I was also a willing victim of the “too good to be true” lure that was followed by the “bait and switch” hook. The sales associate, “Chris”, went as far to say that I would pay over $3000.00 at Best Buy for the $1,500.00 Nikon D80 camera package which I ordered. I now realize that I paid over $500.00 or more than if I purchased a similar package from a local retailer.

I received my Nikon D80 package today which totaled 1489.99. What was to be a much anticipated year end purchase for my business is instead a “sack of coal”. The order was neither complete nor accurate. I had ordered an upgraded telephoto zoom 28-300m lens but instead a cheap 28-70mm F2.84 DG Sigma lens, which can be obtained new online for between $69.00 and $129.00.00 was conveniently substituted. I went online to register my camera and NIKON USA indicated that the serial number that I provided is not valid and is likely for a “grey market camera”. Basically, the camera should not have been sold in the U.S. market and will not be serviced by NIKON USA. The warranty provided is not a Nikon 1 year parts and labor warranty but an aftermarket 90 day labor and 1 year parts coverage. Many of the extras that were to be included in my original package (MP4 player, card reader, lens pouch, additional memory card, additional lithium battery, UV filter, and tripod) were missing. In fact, I asked repeatedly if the tripod was included and the sales representative answered “yes”. As far as the “deluxe” accessories which were included, they were all cheap and inferior products. The “Premium Camera Case” (Vidpro VID-90) was a generic all purpose camcorder/camera case that retails for $29.95. The 3 piece lens filter kit, was offered to me by BPC’s salesman, Chris, as a half-price bargain for $120 plus dollars, is actually a Sakar VO300-58 filter kit which has a suggested retail price of $119.99 but can be purchased new online for as low as $21.99. The battery charger and battery, that I was coerced into purchasing and charged a premium, was not an upgrade but are the same items that come include with any legitimate U.S. basic D80 “camera only” retail purchase.

With baited breath, I am planning to call BPC’s Customer Service in the morning. I do not expect my case to be resolved to any reasonable satisfaction. Like others before me, I do intend to dispute the charge with my credit card company and report Best Price Cameras to both the New York Attorney General’s office and the Better Business Bureau. However, it appears that the previous barrage of consumer complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps, only a class action lawsuit will have any genuine consequence on this merchant. And if successful, the eventual outcome of any legal recourse will likely result in attorneys profiting and Best Price Cameras continuing their sham operations under yet another alias. Let me be the first to suggest the new company name of “B.S. Cameras” and corporate slogan, “We never stand downwind of our products”.

Update:

I spoke with my sales associate, “Chris”, and as expected the issues regarding my purchased were not resolved. I presented him with my dilemma. He insisted that I had received a superior camera and accessories. He only attempted to counter and refute any evidence to the contrary. For example, he insisted that I had been given a $300.00 digital lens and $120.00 filter kit when in fact the items can be purchased new for $69.00 and $26.99. He stated the” premium case” that was included was a $60.00 value. When I replied that it retailed elsewhere for 29.95 and could be purchased for $22.95, he stated that their wholesale cost was $36.00. He insisted that a “gray market” camera was “a superior value” when compared to a legitimate NIKON USA warranted model. He repeatedly stated that the retail Nikon USA D80 cameras did not come with a “quick charger or extended life battery”. In fact, the few retailers that I visited (Best Buy, Circuit City), the battery and charger included with their Nikon D80 camera is identical.

His initial attempt to rectify my dissatisfaction was to offer me a credit of $150.00 for the return of the lens and filters. I had been already paid a minimum of $420.00 for these items. When I asked “Chris” for an itemize dollar breakdown of the purchases, he replied that it was not possible since it was a “package purchase”. He then went on to offer me an additional lens and some of the original “missing accessories” for an additional $100.00 in lieu of returning or any disputed items. When I ask that the additional lens and accessories be sent to me free of charge as compensation for the inferior camera and over-priced accessories, he flatly refused and stated that their mark-up on any item is only 4%. At no time did he suggest or asked that I return the entire order for a full refund.

I became quickly frustrated and realize that I could not reason with him. I indicated to him that I was going to pursue this legally. From his reaction, he did not seem at all surprised. This was certainly not the first time nor most likely the last time that someone has been scammed by BPC. Once I got off the phone, I immediately filed a dispute with my credit card company for those items which I had been overcharged. I have since proceeded to file a formal complaint with the New York Attorney General.

This is a bait and switch operation that sells gray-market items. After the internet order is made, they want to "confirm" your order, which is no more than an opportunity for them to give a high-pressure sales pitch and get you to pay more. Their $849.00 5D is represented to be a polycarbonate housed item (that was never made by Canon) and for the regular price, they will "upgrade" you to the mag housing. A $28 shipping and fondling fee is added plus a 7% shipping charge. I managed to cancel my order before I got hosed.

I ordered a Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens. The IS stands for "Image Stablizer". We'll return to this feature in moment.

The day after I placed my order I received a call from the infamous Chris. Initially he said he wanted to confirm my order, which he did.

He then asked what camera was I going to use the lens with. I told him it was for my Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

Chris said that the XTi had image stabilization built-in so I was wasting my money buying an IS lens. That sounds like good advice, except for one thing. Chris is wrong. The XTi does not have built-in IS.

Now Chris turned on the hard sell. He had a Sigma lens for me that "has better glass anyway" than the Canon lens.

No thanks, I said. I'll stick with the Canon lens. Then it was which haze filter did I want with my lens. No thanks, I said. Then lens is all I need. (I wonder if he was going to try and sell me the $70 haze filter or the $100 "multi-coated" haze filter.)

Undeterred, Chris pressed on. He had a nice lens pouch for me. No thanks, I said. The lens is all I need.

At this point I thought I'd gotten through to Chris. Not quite. Did I want a plastic or metal mount for my lens, Chris asked. (Despite the fact that the lens pictured on their Web site has a metal mount. Canon's metal mounts are silver and their plastic mounts are black.)

Please just send me the lens I ordered. That's all I want. Chris' rather loud reponse was, and this is a verbatim quote, "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! WHOA! What's with the hostility? I'm tryin' to give you a good deal here. What's your problem?"

Once again I told Chris, all I want is the lens I ordered. Please just send me what I ordered.

"OK, you'll have your lens in six to eight weeks." Click.

This must the "polite and friendly staff" you hear about from the recording they play for you while you're on hold waiting to cancel your order.

After my chat with Chris I decided to check up on BestPriceCameras.com. If you're reading this you know the result of that.

I called back the next day and after about ten minutes on hold I got through to customer service. The guy looked up my order, cancelled it for me (I told him I didn't want to wait six to eight weeks) and sent me a confirmation email. At least their customer service department was OK. Although the guy I spoke with was anything but personable. Maybe he's become jaded by a constant stream of cancellations and complaint.

I've been a B&H customer for years and should have realized the BPC deal had to be bogus. My lens shipped the next day from B&H. Oh, and I bought a Canon haze filter too, for ten bucks!

I was in my local Best Buy store today and happened to see my new lens in a display cabinet, for $699!

I had the photo guy take it out of the case for me so I could check it out. When I gave it back to him he asked what I thought. I said it was a nice lens, but $699 was a lot of clams. Without hesitating he said, "What if I dropped it $100?"

Gee, I never knew Best Buy was in the business of negotiating prices! I thanked him and said I'd have to check with "Santa".

I guess it's true what they say. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

I can hardly believe that BPC has a five star (the max) rating from over 5,000 customers on ShopCartUSA.com.

Based on my experience I would say stay away from BestPriceCameras.com.

I placed an order with for a camera and accessories in the afternoon on 11/25. I had ordered it over the phone and something seemed not quite right so later that night I found this website and decided that I wanted to cancel my order based on the reviews. This is where the nightmare starts! I called the following morning as soon as their Customer Service lines opened to cancel my order. I was told that it was already processed and had been sent to shipping. They promised to try to cancel it before it was processed and said that I would get an email confirming the cancellation. I called them after four hours had passed and they forwarded me into someone's generic voicemail named "Steve." Steve never called so I called yet again and was told that my order had already shipped. Amazing that they were able to get that package shipped within 24 hours of the order being placed, especially when I didn't pay for express shipping! I finally received the shipping notification late the following day which shows that the order had NOT shipped until long after I had attempted to cancel. They told me to simply accept the package and call them for an RMA number and that I had to have one in order to return the package. I received the package and called Customer Service to get the RMA number as instructed. It took two attempts and over a half hour on hold along with talking to no fewer than four people to finally speak with someone that informed me that I would be receiving a form through email that I would have to resubmit in order to get an RMA number. Also, there is a 10% restocking fee and what worked out to be another 15% shipping fee which all came to more than $350!!! I told him that I refused to pay it considering there was no mention of such a fee anywhere on their site and that I indeed canceled the order prior to it being shipped. I reminded him that their hold music advertises that credit cards are not charged until the item ships. He was very insistant that everyone pays a restocking fee nad that I had no choice in the matter. They would process my credit less the restocking and shipping fee when the item was returned. My credit card company said that there is little that they can do as the charge went through as soon as I placed the order. Guess I just learned an expensive lesson! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

BAIT and SWITCH alright. I did not make a purchase but was going to. Thanks to the information from this site, I was really leery and asked a lot of questions up front. Yes, they sell a brand new Canon EOS 40D body for $449. But, that is all you get. No manual, cables, battery, disks or warranty. I have sent Canon an email to make sure they are aware of this.

My son purchased a Sony DCR-DVD408 Handy cam from Best Price Cameras for 579.00. For that price he received the DCR-DVD408, case, 5 pack DVD-R, screen protector. When I looked on their web site the gold package included the DCR-DVD408, 4- hr battery, case, tripod, 3 filters, cleaning kit, 5 pack DVD-R, screen protector, cap keeper all for 599.00. When I inquired about the small price difference and that the gold package included more stuff, I was informed that he also received a battery charger and the USB cable and output cables that they consider extras which are not included in the gold package. I just assumed that if I purchased a camera the battery, charger and cables are standard equipment, not at Best Price Cameras. Also my son got the US model with a US warrantee. I also checked out another web site Foto-Connections and their price was $100.00 cheaper, and the charger and cables are standard equipment. When I called Best price about this they just replied, “that are policy”. In short be warned when dealing with Best Price Cameras,

This place gives me the creeps. Like everyone said they should not be allowed to be in business at all. I ordered the Olympus E510 on their website which they advertised for $719. Damn! It sounded like a really good deal - more like "too good to be true." So I bought the item and did not receive any confirmation mail from or an order summary. I call in the next day and was transferred to Alan's voice mail. Left him a message but no calls were return. Finally, I was able to get hold of him on Friday and the moment he came on the phone he tried selling me the extended batteries and the extended warranties. i politely declined and told him "I need the camera like it is from the factory" He replied "OK" and hung up. At that moment my gut did feel like something wasn't right.
On Sunday I decided to search for reviews for this company and boy am I glad I found this site or what. I was horrified after reading the reviews. Immediately put a hold on all transactions on my Visa and called the company in the morning. I asked the guy (don't know his name) what are the package contents and he calmly replies "You are getting the 2 lens kit" then i asked him what about all the other things - battery, charger, cables, cd's, warranty card and the books. He replies "they are not included and that's why such a low price".
According to their website everything is FACTORY FRESH & FULL US WARRANTY...All BS. Don't fall for it. I canceled my order with them right away and I could sense him becoming obnoxious over the phone the moment I asked him to cancel the order. I feel like a dumb ass for falling for something like this.
Thanks, to all those guys who have posted up their experience with this fraud company. I am really glad I came upon this site earlier, but hey better late than never! Thank you for reading and let's continue to boycott this store...
I finally ordered my camera from Crutchfield and its already been shipped :)

Like the rest of online shoppers, their websites got my attention for the lowest price for Sony DLSR A100 camera that I wanted. Ordered it and never got a confirmation number. Got a phone call a day after asking me if I want to upgrade the included lenses since they said it is made of plastic. I declined the said offer. Same day, I received an email telling me that the camera is a back ordered and waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks. Well as everyone been subject to the same run around, I called them the 19th of October asking about the camera, first put on hold for 15 minutes, then a man answered and put me on hold again for 5 minutes. Spoke to Manny who told me that the camera still not available. Cannot gave me any estimated date. This guy is rude even by New York standards. When I said that I will cancel the order, he become more sarcastic and obnoxious. I wish that a manager was standing by to hear this guy treats potential customer. I am an avid online shopper but this is first time encountered such stupidity talking to a customer rep. Anyone wanting to shop from this store, please take your business somewhere else. I wish I can do more to discourage online shoppers to buy stuff from bestpricecamera.com. I wish YAHOO will take down this site for good. Thank you for reading and let's continue to boycott this store...
