They sent the 2 cheapest products (clarinet reeds) but I have not heard ANYTHING about the clarinet mouthpiece that I've ordered AND PAID for!! I've emailed them NUMEROUS times with NO RESPONSE! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my first order with Music123, and it was a great experience! Although it took some time for my order to ship; the prices were great, and the merchandise arrived in perfect shape! My only complaint is that they never respond to price matching requests, or any emails. I will continue to do business with Music123, and would recommend them to my friends. They're quite good!
Stay away...
Very unprofessional..
I placed an order for two items...One was shippted after 4 days and they forgot to ship the other one..It took another 2 weeks to get them..No phone call, I had to call at least 20 times to get it shipped.
Customer service, they are very rude and do not know anything about the process in warehouse...
I would not recommend this store..
This company is a disgrace and the fact they still operate is terrible. I placed an order in May 2006 and still haven't received anything. They took immediate payment at the time and my relentless requests to be refunded are falling on deaf ears. They do not respond to emails, phone calls or faxes. They seem to have a con of changing order numbers then claiming the order didnt exist. Purchase from this store at your own peril.
I purchased Cakewalk Home Studio XL. After an unusally long wait it Finally came. I was never able to get it to work on two computers. I called to get a refund, and was told that no record of the sale could be found. I faxed a copy of my credit card statement, but they claimed to have never received it. I was at a local music store that had the same program and I checked it out. It did not look the same. The disks or the booklet. I am now convinced that they sent me a pirated copy and then covered their tracks. I have contacted the Arizona State Attorney Generals Office and will let them handle it from here.
It appears that Music123.com (aka Woodwind & Brasswind.com) fails to ship products as promised due to ongoing credit problems with manufacturers and distributors.
In my case, they have not shipped, claiming that the source for the tenor Lanikai HSS Ukulele Bag was on backorder and that the factory (Hohner Inc., in Glen Allen, VA) was holding them up.
I called Hohner and inquired about the item. I was told that it is a very popular product and they never allow their inventory to go low or to zero. They have plenty in stock and can ship to retailers immediately.
When I asked why a retailer might say that the factory was preventing them from shipping to customers, I was told that Hohner customarily doesn't comment about retailer relationships. However, they could say that bad credit-worthiness is the number one cause of those sorts of claims. The Hohner representative asked who the retailers were that I was having trouble with. When I said who it was, they stated that they could only say that THE STOCK CONDITION AT HOHNER IS NOT NOW...AND NEVER HAS BEEN, THE PROBLEM.
I'm not sure when or if I will ever get the bag. Music123's customer service is totally helpless and are only inspired to take new orders or cancel existing ones. They have offered no other assistance whatsoever.
Thankfully, they haven't charged my credit card...yet. I think I'll let the order stand and see just how far they will let the issue go. After this order is resolved one way or another, I won't be going back to them for anything.
Update: 07/31/2006
Music123 sent me an email stating that they had to reassign my order to a new order number due to system changes on their end. A minor inconvenience, I thought. However, when the online reference to my old and new order numbers failed to be recognized, I called and learned that my order had no backorder or shipping information. They could identify the order number, but they didn't have any history of the transaction. They don't have any idea what the item's backorder status is and they only offer: "We should know any day now."
As previously noted, my card has not been charged, so it was an easy decision to back out. I asked them to cancel the order, but they emphasized that they could not guarantee that the request will be successful and they could not (or would not!) tell me what options I had. I assume my only recourse will be to dispute an errant charge when and if it occurs.
Two days ago I placed an order with a competitor of Music123. I paid $5.45 more for the same item and it has already shipped. It will be at my door on Thursday. I've learned my lesson and I can only hope I am entirely done with Music123.

I bought a Bahch trumpet plus various accessories. When I received the trumpet it appeared to be a factory reject. It had two long deep dents along the entire bell. In the bottom of the dents the silvering was still rough, indicating that the factory was unable to polish it in the bottom of the dents. So clearly a factory reject which I payed full price for. I selected a type which is specially good for the high register, but it is by far the worst trumpet I have ever played in the high register. I have tried to get in contact with music123 to complain, but they completely ignore me. The accessories which were supposed to be shipped later as they were not all available, still haven't been shipped now 6 months later. Again I have tried to get in contact to cancel the remaining order, but no answer whatsoever. Just a new e-mail every two weeks telling me that the order has been delayed anoter 2 weeks. My recommendation to everyone is: Do not buy from music123.
OMG stay away from this incompetence! According to their site, orders for ground shipping are shipped out within 24 hours of placing the order. I placed an order for a Roland electronic drumset on Monday morning June 26, 2006. I keep checking the order status and all I see is "now shipping" - no tracking number for some reason. I called Wednesday and am told it is shipping out that day. On Thursday, I check the order status again - same thing. So I call. It STILL hasn't shipped. So I wait until 4:45 Thursday and call. STILL hasn't shipped. I told them to cancel the order. They lady said ok - simple enough, right?
I had the presence of mind, thank goodness, to call AGAIN Friday, June 30, 2006. I am told the order was too late in the process to be cancelled (wasn't told that on Thursday). So now I have to wait until I get a FedEx tracking number and cancel it at the 'hub'. Here is the message I emailed them:
"I placed this order Monday morning, June 26. As of Thursday, June 29, I was told that this order still had not shipped even though your site says this order is in stock and according to your shipping policy will ship within 24 hours. I told the lady on the phone to cancel it of course. Good thing I had the presence of mind today to call AGAIN today. Now I am told it was too late in the order process to cancel it so it shipped out.
During all of this time, NOT ONE EMAIL, NOT ONE PHONE CALL has been made to me. Now I'm told I have to wait until FedEx shows a shipping number so I can cancel it after it gets to the hub. I don't see how this should be my problem except for the fact I made the mistake of attempting to do business with Music123 in the first place."
Here is the response I got:
"Dear Jason: We see you contacted Mindy in customer service for assistance on your order. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thanks, Customer Service"
They say on their site that orders will ship the same day if ordered before noon. However I ordered an item an item with 3-day shipping on friday and it arrives on the next friday!
I would like to say first, that music123 SUCKS. While they were able to give me a more than reasonable price on my item, every other single thing involved with this order was horrible.
I was interested in buying 2 Numark HDXs. My first salesman initially quoted me a price $400 above what the website advertised (as well as every other site). After a bit of discussion via email we came to a reasonable price, I placed my order and was told that my item was shipping that day, and that I would receive an email with tracking information. 2 days later I receive an email telling me that only 1 of the items is available. So I assume that it at least shipped.
I call monday to check and the item had not even been processed. This means 2 more days before they even care to think about shipping it. The salesman straight lied to me about the date of shipping and the item availability. I called customer service at that point to cancel my order. They begged me to stay with them and I talked to another salesman who lowered my price more and promised it would ship monday. My order status showed that everything was go and it was ready to ship and that I should receive an email with tracking information soon.
I waited 2 days for an email with my tracking information and never received one. I finally called customer service back and they gave me a shipping number and said that it had shipped tuesday. So I called fed-ex to make sure. They said they hadnt gotten the item yet. I told them I needed my stuff before friday, and here it is wednesday and my package hasnt even shipped, when initially I was told it shipped last friday night. They promised me it was shipping tonight and that I would possibly have it saturday, but why should I believe them. We'll see when I actually get my package.
DO NOT SHOP WITH "MUSIC123.COM", OR "WOODWINDandBRASS.COM". I should have taken the reviews to heart, but I didnt. I am NEVER EVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN. MUSIC123.COM SUCKS.
I ordered some drumheads from this company and it seemed to go off without a hitch. At first, I was willing to wait for 3 of the 6 drumheads that I had ordered since they were on backorder. 3 days later I get an e-mail saying that I have credit on my account when 3 of my drumheads were said to have been shipped. Apparently, they only sent 2 of the 3 heads that were supposed to be shipped. I then cancelled the rest of my order simply because I do not want 3-4 different shipments on something this simple. More than likely, I will not be doing business with them again.
I placed an order with Music123 on 1/12/06, and it is now 3/17/06 and the order has not been filled.
Contacting Music123 using the on-line ‘Correspondence’ page is useless, as Music123 does not respond. However, Music123 has sent over 20 e-mails constantly pushing back the anticipated shipping date. These e-mails all state that the manufacturer is the reason for the delay. However, the manufacture insists the product is readily available. The manufacturer put me in contact with another distributor, and I placed an identical order with the alternate distributor. The duplicate order was drop-shipped from the manufacturer within 24 hours.
I haven't had any trouble getting someone on the phone at Music123, but the answer is always the same; the product is backordered. I have heard of financially challenged companies defining 'backorder' as something similar to 'we owe too much money to the manufacturer and they have cut us off'. Even though Music123 did not provide their definition of backorder, I was able to establish that the product is readily available from the manufacturer.
If you demand customer service, this may not be the company you want to work with. However, if you like getting the run-around and you want to gamble with your money, shop with Music123.
On the bright side, my order was considerably cheaper than anywhere else (online or storefront). I was aware of Music123's poor history before ordering and I take full responsibility for making such a foolish choice.
I don't believe this company means to do anyone harm, but it's possible that they are fabulously inept at customer service. Assuming they have telephone service, I intend on calling to request a refund.
FYI - Woodwind and Brasswind is somehow related to Music123 (same mailing address and website design) and I have experienced strange practices with that company as well.
UPDATE 4/13/06: I called to cancel on 03/17/06 and was told that refunds are made on the 15th of each month (I paid by personal check) so I decided to wait until the week before the 15th of April. The shipping date has changed twice since 03/17/06 (now it is 4/18/06) so I called to cancel today. Music123 says my money will be refunded at the end of April. I hope it will be that simple.

I am so scared. I ordered an amp, speaker, etc. from MUSIC 123. They charged my account Monday the 30th and my stuff has not even left the wharehouse and it is now Friday the 3rd. Curious, I googled their name and found list of complaints about them that is so incredibly long I am still in shock. The stories are so horribly sad--poor musicians that save all of their pennies to get that piece of equipment that they can barely afford just to be ripped off by some faceless online schemers. Now, I am another one of them. Now I have $150 in limbo and have to face the fact that I may never see my merchandise. I decided to take a chance with them when I saw that they are "musicians working for musicians"--I guess they are . . lazy, unreliable junky musicians, maybe? I am so upset, I can barely afford to make this purchase and now I'm affraid I'll have nothing to show for it. And who knows if it will even work; it's a non-factory sealed deal! According to reports, even their new stuff doesn't work whan it gets to its recipient. I am probably going to get a bag of loose parts and shattered tubes. I am really apranoid now. i also don't want to fall into some abyss where they just keep telling me its going to ship and then doesn't.
I ordered a guitar, guitar strings and a tuner on 1/16. The order arrived in two packages on 1/24 and 1/25. The order was complete except for the case that was supposed to be included with the guitar. Calls to their customer service line go unanswered longer than I have time to stay on hold. They also are extremely slow responding to e-mail. At the time I placed my order the product information/specifications page stated twice that a "deluxe hardshell case" WAS INCLUDED (I saved a copy of the page that I have referred back to). The fact that a case was included was part of the reason I placed the order in the first place. After an e-mail request to please provide the case that was to be included with the guitar (I can’t get through on their customer service line), they edited the product information/specifications and deleted the references to the included case; and are now telling me the guitar does not come with a case and they will not provide one. Presently I am waiting for another e-mail response, so it's possible that there may still be a resolution to this frustrating experience. If so, I'll provide an update. The unfortunate aspect of this is that the guitar and case were to be a birthday present for my daughter. Her birthday is in a couple of days, so we will end up buying her something else and the gift of a guitar will unfortunately have to wait for another occasion. In the future I intend to take my business elsewhere and will recommend the same to my friends (and my kids’ friends & their parents).
