After deciding what I needed I placed an order with Genius Camera. The Nikon D200 package that I had in mind had to be shipped from an overseas warehouse so I changed my mind and they gladly cancelled the order. This was the same as the majority of the sites and stores I researched. After rethinking I called back and spoke to a very good salesperson by the name of Adam and ordered the D200 body, a camera bag and memory card. When it arrived on time it was just as I hoped for. Adam, and the rest of the fine Genius Camera staff I want to extend a very sincere thank-you for making my first internet camera purchase a good experience. Keep up the good work! Kindest regards, Joseph M. Augusta, GA.

Again, one of the best online shopping experiences I've had. This company pays attention to detail and gets it right the first time. The prices are fair and the customer service is courteous and responsive. I just wish they sold more than just Camera equipment so I could spend more of my money with them. Big ups to Jeff T.

Like everyone else it seems, I was attracted to Genius Cameras due to their low prices. I placed an order over the phone for a Nikon D80 camera and a Nikon 18-200 nikkor VRII Lens. Other than a little hard sell by the person whom I spoke with who's mission in life at one juncture was to change my mind from the Nikon lens I asked for to another inferior brand, the transaction went well. I had to wade through a barrage of high pressure coaxing for accessory upgrades or additions I did not need nor want, but after I told the salees person, "you are quickly convincing me to cancel this sale by waisting my time", he relented and we completed the sale for exactly what I wanted originally. Less than a week later I received the package and everything I requested was delivered exactly as specified. I know these guys have a terrible past track record as evidences by most of the other writeups here, but I can sincerely say that other than the aggressive arm twisting I experinced, they did deliver for me. Suggestion: When dealing with these guys, do your homework before hand and know EXACTLY what you want and shut them down when they start their high pressure bait and switch song and dance routine.

I also ordered a camera from this site a few days ago. I was told the camera was on backorder before placing my order but decided to go ahead and placed the order on line. I did rec an email letting me know the camera was on back order and my current order was cancelled and my cc not charged, which as of today (4/26)it has not been charged. I called back today and was told the camera (Canon Rebel digital XT the body only) is due in the middle of May and since I did place an order already, I would be notified by email when the camera came in to see if I still wanted it. I did not have any problems when I did say all I was needing was the body only....there were attempts to get me to buy more, which is normal when in sales...I have been in sales myself and earned commission.
I will wait on the email in May and hope to be able to order this camera.....Overall it has been pleasant dealing with this company and hope for a smooth final transaction in May. This review was modified by its author, WolfLady, on

On December 6, I called to inquire about the Canon EF 70-300 IS USM for my Rebel XT. The salesperson stated that the lens was "in stock" and would be shipped out the next day if I ordered the lens. I placed the order online right after the call. After placing the order, I received an e-mail stating that I needed to call them to provide "verbal confirmation" of the order. When I called to confirm the order, the person I was speaking to said that I was "eligible for an upgrade" on my order. I stated that I was not interested in the "upgrade."
Two days later, I checked to see if the charge went through for the purchase. Having purchased camera equipment at other online retailers, I expected to receive shipping confirmation and to see the charge show up on my credit card. When I saw neither, I called them for the status of my order. The customer rep said that my order should be shipped within 5-7 working days. When I asked if the lens was in stock, they repeated it will be shipped in 5-7 working days.
This didn't seem right to me so I called back to get more information. After being placed on hold and waiting for 1/2 hour, I decided to cancel the order. When I spoke to their representative about cancelling the order, he said the order had "already been shipped." I responded by saying that I spoke to another rep earlier who said it would not be shipped for another 5-7 days and that I checked with my credit card company and that no charge had been made. At that point, he said he would cancel the order.
Maybe I should have waited the 5-7 days but after reading all the negative feedback, I decided to go with another retailer with a better reputation. I ordered the lens from profeelvideo and the order was promptly charged and shipped by the next day.

WOW -- what a great site! I have to admit I was worried about ordering from GeniusCameras.com (no mailing address listed on the site and all links for secure server certificates didn't actually link!) and put off the purchase for a few days. Deciding my VISA would give me some protection, I placed the order for the Nikon D70 and two lenses.... and received the email to confirm my order.
When I called to confirm they were overly nice, "How can I provide you with EXCELLENT customer service?" Odd, but ok...
I confirmed my order and declined the upselling of filters and such, confirmed this product was NEW and in the box with warranties. Confirmed the price and was told 10 days for my order.
Subsequently I found this site this AM and immediately called to cancel, expecting the worst. I also notified my card company to decline any charges from them.
When I spoke with "excellent" customer service, I gave my order number to cancel. I was then asked for my credit card # which I refused and said I would only give the last four digits to verify my purchase. That wasn't acceptable to them and thus I began my card #... only getting 8 digits out and the rep moved on to my address (even though the whole # was required) I confirmed my address completely and was told the order would be cancelled and to "expect a refund within 30 days."
I contacted my card again to advise them and immediately received an email from GeniusCamera's Shipping department -- advising me my order was backordered and cancelled.
This worries me two-fold... they're not automated to pull my order to verify my info as well as know it was automatically cancelled... and 2) are they just phishing for credit cards? The reason I suppose #2 is that they confirm the #, billing address, etc. to CANCEL an order, which is odd.
I am now reporting them to Bank of America to watch my card and ensure no fraudulent purchases are put on there just in case this is a phishing scam.

Placed order for Nikon D200 package with 3 day shipping and told IN-STOCK. They tried to talk me into several overpriced additions to the order. I did not go for the extras. Called back to check as not delivered. I was told the item was BACKORDERED 8 to 10 weeks or more and the price was not guaranteed. This review was modified by its author, iMe, on

After ordering a camera body (Canon Rebel XT) with no accessories I received a call asking for my credit card CVV number. After refusing some hard sell tactics the salesman gave up. The next day I receive an email saying they are backordered on the product I ordered and it would be several weeks before they could fill the order. I contact them every week, but am yet to hear back. My next step is to report them to the Better Business Bureau. It looks like there are quite a few dissatisfied customers who should do the same.

1 hour after I placed an order for a Nikon d200 on the GENIUSCAMERAS.COM web site, a salesperson called to confirm my credit card cvv number (even though I provided the number during the checkout process). I thought that was odd, but whatever. He then tried to sell me on several (overpriced) accessories for the camera. It was only AFTER I provided the CVV number AND AFTER I declined to purchase any accessories did he inform me that there was a "problem" with the web site, and that the correct price for the camera was approximately DOUBLE what I had paid! What a blatant scam! Don’t waste your time like I did! Stay far away from this merchant!

Classic bait & switch: buy our expensive accessories, and parts that normally are boxed with the item, but we've removed to sell to you at an extra price, or we'll place your order on permanent backorder.

Worst store on the web. I agree with all the bad reviews on these guys...they bait you in with low prices and don't even have the camera. I ordered a camera, got a confirmation, then a note saying it was backordered. Never heard from them again. Called twice, was told that it would be in in 2 weeks. 3 weeks later, I call them and there is no date for it to come in. Nice inventory tracking. Horrible store....STAY AWAY!!!!

The WORST retail experience I've ever had. RUN, don't walk, as far away from these liars as you can get!!! I wish I had seen these postings before I contacted this company. Bait and switch is only the tip of the iceberg with these guys.

Horrible & Liars! Lied to me about a problem at Canon with the digital rebel xt for 6 months after lieing to me that it was initially in stock. Am I really that big a fool believing they had a good buy? Yep!

The WORST kind of scam artists. Ordered the Canon EOS XT Rebel with special lens...great price. When I called to confirm the order they tried to upsell me a battery and carger for $550 (retail about $70) and a 1GB memory card for $350 (retail $80). When I ordered neither, I was told my order was on back order two days later by e-mail.
When I called to confirm the item was on back order, Adam, my "service rep" spent 10 minutes trying to convince me that he was able to offer me a "better deal" if I wanted it...and wouldn't tak "no" for an answer. Luckily, I digitally recorded our conversation just like that AOL guy. That's when I cancelled my order completely.
