Received defective item. NO contact telephone number. Emails slow. Did NOT received refund or anything for a credit. Bought from them for years and in the last year they have become worse. In fact, they are terrible. Do not buy from them.

[Update2] I received the correct product today, a month and a half after my initial order. The product was top quality and works well. The web site still does not work correctly. The product you are looking at isn't necessarily the product that will be added to your cart when you press the "Add to Cart" button. I might still purchase from them, but I will be very careful of what I order and understand that problems can take a long time to get resolved.
[Update] I finally received a response about 10 days after receiving my incorrect order (see below). They issued me an RMA number and I returned the drive for exchange October 2. Today I received notice that a package is being sent to me and I hope it is the correct drive. The email I received was courteous and apologetic. I will follow up when I receive the drive in a few days.
[original comment] As I have had success ordering from Surplus Computers in the past, I receive their email ads regularly. I had been thinking about updating my notebook computer optical drive to a DVD writer and saw they had them for sale. I click on the link in the email for the product and my browser opened a window showing it. There was another similar product shown in the email and I clicked on that to compare it and make sure I was ordering the correct drive. This opened a second browser window and I was able to determine that this would not work with my computer. I closed that browser window and was looking at the original window that I opened. I verified that this was the correct drive and clicked the "Add to Cart" button. I then proceeded to check out. At the confirmation page, I noticed that the drive on the order was not the drive that I added to my cart. It was the drive from the window that I had closed. I immediately sent an email to their "orderprocess" email address as they direct for modifying orders. I also called their phone number several times (during business hours) and could not leave a message as all the voice mail boxes I tried were full. I never got a reply to my emails and don't think they were read as I never received a return receipt. I received my order today and guess what? It was the wrong drive. I sent an email to their "RMA", "RMA2" and "websales" addresses and will wait and see if I get a reply. So far, I am disappointed that I was not able to correct this problem before the order was shipped. They now have a second chance to correct this problem. This company has poor customer service. I ordered a webcam. After I didn't hear anything for a week I tried calling. Noone answers the phones at the offices and the voicemail boxes are full. I sent an email and noone replied. My second email 4 days later was replied to after 2 days only to tell me that the product wasn't avaliable. THEN WHY ARE YOU TAKING ORDERS FOR IT?!?!? This totally sqrewed me because I needed that camera for a trip!
I am very disappointed with my experience with this company. This company provides poor customer service and I will never do buisiness with it again. BEWARE!

I made a purchase about a year ago. I never received the item I purchased, though my credit card was charged. Also, not one of their email accounts that I emailed ever responded to my emails. I called the credit card company, got their phone number, and ended up speaking with an answering machine and never got a call back. I'll never order from them again!

I ordered the item on June 26th. The website had no way of tracking the order and I only got an e-mail just confirming the order with the price. On July 4th, I got an e-mail telling me that the item shipped via USPS on the 3rd. I finally received the item on the 6th with no problems.

Ordered Logitech Wireless Headphones for Apple iPod on 6/15, received on 6/20, shipping is quite quick. The product is listed as "new" on website, but the product I received is definitely anything but new. There is a marker-pen checkmark on the right ear piece, which doesn't have the "sponge thingie" attached on it, like the left ear piece. And the warranty is crossed out. I emailed them complain about the "refurbished" product they sent me, but they insist it is "new", just not "boxed" but "oem bulk". They can call it whatever they want, but from what I can see, it's not new. Worst of all, I bought from them because I expect this will qualify for $50 rebate from Logitech. Well, there is no box, which means no UPC, and that means no rebate... I should have buy from Amazon, after $50 rebate, it's 35% cheaper than Surplus' price. I requested a return, they want to charge me 20% restocking fee. I was thinking to dispute this with my credit card company, but decided not to waste any more time on this as it's just $40. Will never buy from Surplus any more.

I've made many purchases from these guys in the past because of their cheap prices. I've never had to try to reach their customer service until now and I have to concur with these other reviewers that their "customer service" is a joke. I had to return some defective merchandise and after emailing them three times asking for an RMA, I got fed up and just mailed it back to them and disputed the charge with my credit card company. The old adage that you get what you pay for again rings true.

This was the worst service I have every had from an online store. If you plan on calling for support do not plan on talking to an actual person. Also, do not plan on them taking your request seriously. Please do not shop from this company.

Be very careful of these people. I ordered an item that was sent with missing parts and without documentation. When I was able to reach them, they said that it had no documentation. (This was not mentioned at the web site.) After a lot of back and forth they offered an RMA. It took forever to process and when I got my credit card statement, they slapped a 20% fee because "it was working." I am protesting with the credit card company and will not buy from them again. Some of their items are bargains but many are off brand not intended for the US market. Forget phone calls to these people.

I purchased a Logitech cordless keyboard & mouse sold as "Condition: New" and received an open-box product that had the serial numbers on the keyboard and mouse crudely marked out with a Sharpie. That's not what I consider "Condition: New". The seller's site included no mention of this poduct being refurbished or marred in any way. Having the serial numbers marked out with a Sharpie is the sort of thing the seller should inform potential buyers about!

I purchased a Microsoft Trackball Optical Wheel Mouse USB from these crooks.
On the website, the condition says NEW, but what they sent me was a dirty and damaged mouse.
The wheel was broken and un-scrollable.
There were dirts and grime all over in the red optical parts, and under the mouse.
I wanted a NEW Microsoft Trackball Optical Wheel Mouse USB, not this trash.
These guys did not send a NEW product, but sent a USED garbage.
I am also submitting official complaints to BBB, Consumer Affairs, and FTC.
AVOID ALL YOU CAN!!

Purchased a Microsoft trackball and flashlight (both listed as new) on evening of 16 Jan. Received confirmation email shortly after ordering. On 20 Jan, received email that it had shipped previous day. Arrived 21 Jan via USPS Priority Mail.
Flashlight was received in sealed blister pack.
Trackball was in plastic bag with documentation, CD, and USB-PS2 adapter (no fancy box, etc.) Cord appeared that it MIGHT have been unwrapped at some point, but saw no signs of use on the mouse itself, and it works fine.

At first skeptical, because of such low prices. But, product came as advertised. I will buy from you guys again. Great Prices, Great Descriptions. (I bought a few NEW items, so I wouldnt go with refurbished) This review was modified by its author, dwu182, on

Ordered Microsoft Wireless Optical USB Tilt Wheel Mouse - Mood Ring on 1/7/2006 and received it 10 days later. The manual states that two alkaline batteries are included but not. The lowest price I could find is $37, they sold it for $16 (free shipping). I certainly can buy lot of batteries for the price difference.

Surplus Computers shipped my item within 48 hours and it was securely packed. They used UPS's QuantumView to notify me of my shipping status and tracking number.
Their description of my item was right on, and the item was in perfect working order. They have plenty of good deals on their website, and I'll certainly purchase from them again.
