I ordered a Sharp LC45GD7U 45" LCD HDTV for $3099. I was required to call in to verify and confirm this order. I called an spoke with Jim who tells me he needs the 3-digit code on the back of my card. This info should have been added to the online process. As you may have read from other reviews, the real purpose of order confirmation is to sell you warranty and the sales tactics are very aggressive. I've called this company (800)732-7960 several time for product info and finally the order confirmation and I spoke with the same person each time, Jim.

On my product info calls, he was very irritated that I was bothering him with my questions. From this, I should have known better. On the confirm order call, very pushy and spoke with me like I was naive. "So, why didn't you get that awesome deal that was offered?" I was confuse as there was no other offer presented when I made my online oerder. Looking back, he's trying to sell me the infamous and expensive might I add $800 In-Home Warranty. When I decline the offer, he says I'll be getting the import model. WHAT THE HECK!! There were no reference to import model when I ordered online. What a scam... I even tried to re-order to check and see if there was some notation that got passed me, but there were no reference to import model. Ask what is the difference between an import model and a USA model. Warranty was the difference. With the import model I would need to pay upwards off $500 for shipping plus insurance to send my TV overseas somewhere for repairs. To me, this means no warranty. With the import model, there were no in home service. I was frighten; and told him this was ridiculous. Had I known the purchase price I was paying online was for an import model, I wouldn't have made the purchase.

"We can change your order to a USA model," says Jim. I ask, "How much more?" It would be $3999 and you get the 1-year In-Home warranty from Sharp. I was just flabbergasted. They offered lower price but truly in the end their price was not competitive at all. I will never buy anything from this company...very shady company.

Unfortunately, AFTER I ordered my camcorder from this company, I read the horror stories on many reseller review Web sites. I was paranoid that my experience would be like many others. And it was, but not exactly.

I ordered a camcorder (10/20/05-a.m.) and thought my order had been processed. After a couple days of no change in the status of my order on their Web site, I called (10/24/05-a.m.) to check on the order. My first suspicion came when they had the wrong camcorder down for my order. They verified my name and address and told me that was all they needed. When I asked when I could expect it to be shipped, they said, "Check the email tonight." When I checked the email, I was informed that my item was on "backorder" and I would have to wait 6-8 weeks if I still wanted it.

They never tried to sell me any overpriced accessories or extended warranties, so I never had the chance to decline them. They said in their email that I could cancel my order if the wait was unacceptable. I replied to their email that I needed to cancel the order (10/24/05-p.m.). I have received no response regarding my cancellation as of today (10/26/05-a.m.). My credit card was not/has not been charged (yet). If they try to assess their "10% cancellation fee," I will fight that, and report it here as well.

I do know someone who ordered from them before with NO PROBLEMS. Considering the many bad reviews and my own experience, that baffles me. All and all in regards to my situation: no harm, no foul. But I wouldn't have ordered from them had I read many of these reviews beforehand and I won't order from them again.

Afterward: I ordered the same camera from Amazon (though much more pricey) after cancelling with PCandPlasma and expect to receive it within a few days.

Purchased panasonic th50px600u,thinking I was getting a good dea; no way. When I called to verify shipping times etc. I was told that I could purchase the American model since this was "grey material" meaning that it's for
asian countries and that the remote and literature would be in another language. Now aint that sweet. Ofcourse for a mere $600 I could buy what I thought I was buying in the first place. What a bunch of scammers!!! Stay clear.

My experience mirrors other reviews...ordered a Sony LCos 60A2000, as they had a very good price ($2,399). Received a call from customer service and an email, asking that I call to 'verify the order'. I did, and a very pushy salesperson tried to sell me an expensive extended warranty. I declined. Then he noted that my model was an 'import' and, unless I upgraded to the US model, I would be unable to read any of the menus. I promptly told him to cancel the order and sent an email to customer service. Wish I had read these reviews before. My first bad internet experience, but I guess I should have researched them more before purchasing.

Saying all of that, they're playing with fire....they're violating the Commercial Deceptive Trade Practices Act and could receive substantial fines and penalties...a point I mentioned in my email to them. Sounds like a bait-and-switch scam operation.

Horrible store. I could go on and on but they have already tired me out. Basically we ordered a huge plasma TV, were told that it would be here in a week (after somehow being convinced to buy an extraordinarily pricey warantee). It never came. They never returned our calls. 4 weeks later they told us it was backordered. We tried to cancel, they threatened to charge the cancellation fee, we threatened to call the credit card company and BBB (36 complaints against them! oh my! including one FROM the BBB). Suddenly they agreed to reimburse us 100% but the money has not yet posted to our account (only 24 hours later though). So I am getting ready to call the credit card company again...

Keep every email they send you. Document every phone conversation you have with them. Just so you are prepared to go after them. Sigh!

Me: I am calling about ordering a Canon GL2.
Sales Rep: Yes.
Me: Is it on backorder.
Sales Rep: That depends
Me: That depends on what?
Sales Rep: Are you going to purchase any accessories for it?
Me: No.

I ordered a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 television for $2,799.99 plus $299.99 for shipping. Everything was correct with the order, but I received an email indicating that I needed to contact them to confirm the order. I contacted Mike on extension 207. He was a very high pressure sales person. He first tried to sell me a 3-year extended warranty for $1,199. When I wouldn't buy, he reduced the price to $999. When I still wouldn't buy, he told me that I had purchased the International (Taiwan) version of the TV, and that it came with no warranty from Sony. He said that I could purchase the United States version for $3,499. At that point I cancelled my order and told him that I wouldn't do business with his company. In my opinion, they are just a bait and switch scam artist. They had no intention of selling the item for thier advertised price

Very bad company, full of lies.

I ordered some TVs from them because their price is at least $1000 cheaper than the bigger stores. Website says they are made in USA and will ship within 24~48 hours.

After I got the order confirmation emails, they said they need to confirm the charges. And then during the phone call, they told me it's backorder and made up some stupid lies that told me the TVs are made in Asia somewhere, so it needs 2~3 weeks to ship them from the factory. I knew that was total BS because Sony does not make that model over that made up factory at all. My father-in-law has been doing the TV import export business for 40 years between Asia and US. So we told them to cancel the order.

Now the funniest part came out, they sent me a form for me to sign. That form bascially says we have to pay 10% of the totally cost for the cancellation. I was like WTH! I canceled something not even exsit and I have to pay 10% for the cancelation??!! Of course I called my credit card company to dispute whatever charge this fraud company has been made. And my credit card company told me that the charge has been made from pcplasma was very weird doesn't look like a normal transcation, my credit card company said they will 100% dispute the charge for us after we told them the whole story.

Then I went online to do more research about this company. (so regret I didn't do that before we made the purchase). The website is new on BBB, because their previous websites were full of complains. What they are trying to do is make one website to run business by lying and cheating, then close it and open another one. Here's what I found for their previous website from BBB.org

www.5starselectronics.com

Customer Experience

Based on BBB files, this business has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau because it failed to respond to one or more complaints.

The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number of complaints received by the BBB. The number of complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgment on the validity of complaints filed.

Additional Information

This firm has misrepresented itself as a member of the Better Busines Bureau on its web site at www.5starselectronics.com. In 2004, the BBB requested that this firm cease and desist all unauthorized use of the BBB name and logo in its advertising. The firm responded to our request, but failed to remove many instances of the BBB logo appearing throughout its site. Further correspondence sent to the firm by the Bureau has not been responded to, and the firm has not complied with the Bureau's request. This firm is currently not a member of the Better Business Bureau serving Metropolitan New York, the service area in which it is headquartered. This firm has not responded to our request for basic information.

A bad company all around.

I ordered a video camera accessory package thinking it included the camera. When it didn't I decided to cancel that order and to order the Sony HC1 that I thought I was getting already instead. The price on the site was $999 but I was told that was the "non english import model" and that the american model was $1500. Then they sold me on a filter kit (because the camera is HD) and tried to throw in a free 8 hour battery. I called later to cancel and they said I would be charged 15% as my credit card had already been processed. I felt stuck.

Today I called my credit card about them and they said that there was a pending charge on my card from the night before and that there was little they could do until the charge went through. However, when it did go through they would be willing to fight it for me. They said to ask that my order be cancelled.

So I sent 3 e-mnails asking them to cancel, with no response. I called their sales dept. and they said I would have to contact the customer service dept. to cancel.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention, and this is my trump card here, it says in their policies that they will not charge your card until AFTER your order has shipped. Yet my card was being processed already and was subject to their 15% fee because of that. HMM, a direct violation of their own policies....tsk tsk.

I sent an e-mail to the customer service dept. demanding that my order be cancelled as soon as they get the e-mail tomorrow morning. I told them I expected a full refund as they were not supposed to charge my card until AFTER my order shipped. I also said that if they refused to cancel my order, I would let them deal with my credit card company, who, as I said before, back me 100% on this.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. There are better deals on ebay and other retailers on the same packages they have. Even BestBuy has a slightly better price on the camera right now because it is on sale.

I ordered a camcorder at a very low price, the Sony HDR HC1 at $999... I was weary to begin with, because most companies were selling the same camera anywhere between $1500 to $2000, but I figured it was worth the attempt at such a low price. I chose not to order any accessories, as they seemed over priced and not very necessary, and the day after I placed the order I was informed that the product was on backlog for 6-8 weeks. I've heard of this happening, and I feel as though this is a gross misstatement of the facts if they do not really supply the item purchased for the price advertised. Luckily I didn't purchase any of their accessories, because I'm guessing those would have been found aplenty in their wherehouse.

Before I agreed to a purchase of a plasma TV from PCandPlasma, they took my credit card numbers, etc. They added so much from the initial price of $2100 (went up to $2950) that I cancelled the order. However, they already charged my card, and now they are demanding a 10% cancellation fee ($295) before they would credit my credit card. I called MasterCard and I was told that they may have a right to do this, even though the whole phone conversation lasted 20 minutes and no paper work or even a semblance of hardware movement was done. This company uses high pressure tactics and apparently not to be trusted. Beware!!!!!

First I get this email partially provided below; "Thank you for shopping with Pcandplasma.com! Due to new credit card company approval procedures, we would request that you get in touch with us to verify and finalize you internet order. We apologize for the any inconvenience this may cause you and as a courtesy for taking the time we would like to reward you with a 25% off any future purchase on accessories.

Next, I called and was lead into a sales pitch about buying more junk that is way over priced. So I turn them down and get the following; "We regret that shipment of the merchandise listed above, on your order number PC11057 is delayed for 6-8 weeks because the merchandise is on backorder with the manufacturer. If this revised shipping date is not acceptable and you decide to cancel you may reply to this e-mail. Your account will not be charged and any money due will be promptly refunded. Also, even if you request that your order for this merchandise remain open, you will still have the continuing right to cancel at any time before we ship.

Again, we apologize for the delay in shipping and for any inconvenience this may have caused you. You are a valued customer and we look forward to serving you in the future."

Here is what I think. The item was ready to ship after I talked with the guy and now I get this email, and it still shows that they have it in stock at the store. I'm waiting a few more days then I may cancel. Price is worth waiting for if they will sell it. Just to point out that many of these Brooklyn, NY stores all are related and pull this game. Will update later, but this is such a pain, when the item I ordered from B&H photo the same day was shipped the next day and I didn't need to go through the phone calls and emails to get approved and the annoying sales pitch from some overbearing sales guy.

Not worth the headache when the same product is available for a few percent more. How people give into the junk they bait and switch with the credit approval call I wonder?

Follow up: After waiting a month for the shipping information I called and was told that the model was not even available for shipment, yet the item was listed on the web page as available and the price was even $100.00 dollars less. The guy then told me that the unit was a foreign model and the USA version was available for $3599 or $700 more than the original order amount and was trying for the hard sell on this one. Not only was the advertising inaccurate, they tried to sell me all this junk to go with it that I didn't want and would not take no for an answer. After I held my ground they forced me out by not shipping the item, then give me the bait and switch routine for the same model for $700 more. Total loosers. What a waste of time an effort.

Talk about THE WORST! I wrote them that I did not want any extra warranties, or extra charges. Just please process the order. I advised I had read the bad reviews but hoped for a good experience and promised a good rating for a good performance.

Here is the response from Albert--the actual quote: "I really don't care about your review or care about you been happy.
If you need your TV you need to buy the warranty.
NO CHOICE. Don't think u are smarter than all the other shopper that wrote those bad
reviews. So it's ur choice."

My choice is to go elsewhere. You would be wise to do the same.

I originally gave this company a good review just because I was happy to finally get my T.V. These people are a bunch of scam artists who use high pressure sales tactics to get you to buy more products you don't need. I went through the same thing that everyone else did. The U.S versus the non U.S. product. What a crock. I tried several times to cancel my order but was told that a 10% restocking charge would be charged to my card. How about that, a "restocking" charge for something that hasn't even been shipped. The only thing they did effeciently was charge my card right away even though their policy is not to charge your card until the product ships. When my plasma finally arrived I went over it with a fine tooth comb and was relieved to find everything factory sealed and brand new. Don't, and I repeat don't buy anything from this site. I went through a lot of headaches to save a few bucks. This place is located in New York like a lot of these type of sites. They all use the same tactics. Next time I'll spend a little more from a reputable dealer and have peace of mind. I hope everyone can get their money back from this place. I think the government needs to start worrying about what's happening in this country and put these scammers out of business. I hate to sound like an ass but NY deserves everything it gets, including the Arm Pit of the nation award.

I just cancelled my order. I ordered an digital camera and was given a great price. I got a delay notice of 6-8 weeks. After reading the resellerratings.com website I decided to cancel after 3 /12 weeks of waiting. I called last week to chekc on the product and was told to wait at least another 6-8 weeks. No way they want to sell w/o your purchasing the accessories...is how I feel about this "store". I would not recommend them to anyone.
