This is my third machine from CyberPower. I'm a graphic designer and 3d animator. My work demands a lot from my machines. I always do a lot of comparative shopping and research prior to buying. Three times in a row, over the past 4 years, CyberPower has been my choice. Their online configurators make it easy to get the rig I need, at the lowest price point. I've never had an issue with any of their builds. Very satisfied.
I ordered my computer in August of '02, a "Titanium Gamer Pro" (upgraded slightly to fit my needs) because I had read some good reviews for it (ZDnet and a few others). It didn't ship with a power cord which I thought rather odd but it was easy enough (and free) to fix for me, I also had to switch the network card into a different PCI slot becuase I think one of them was bad, or it wasn't plugged in all the way, but thats not a big deal, and it "usually shipped in 5-10 days, but I didn't end up getting it for about a month (once again not a huge deal to me). It has given me almost flawless performance since, besides some Microsoft crap and other software installed. I opted to get a formatted HD because I like to do my own thing on my compters.
The main reason I ordered from CP was their prices and I liked their packages. If you have the money and the skills required to build your own computer I would suggest it, I would have rather ordered custom parts instead of getting a preassembled computer, but I didn't have the time. All in all I am pretty pleased with this company's job with MY computer. My friend however baught one about 2 months after I did and something was wrong with it. He ended up sending it back (after we tried installing multiple OS's and even and new HD). They said it was just a driver problem but I have a feeling he is going to end up sending it back again. According to him the technical support isn't horrible, he always talks to the same guy and he is very nice and helpful (his name is Frank, and I guess all the other reps should learn from him). But he did say that the Customer Support wasnt the best. Allthough they have consistantly called day after day trying to reach him. Another couple friends of mine have had minor problems. But with my experience they have been OK. I probably wouldn't order from them again but I am pleased with my computer.
In my opinion, CyberPower is one of ther better custom build pc sites on the market. I know a few people who have orderd from themand enjoyed their systems. I've had my system for about a week now. I've tested and tested the system and it seems to be working fine. The only thing I had to do was find the latest drivers.Being that I'm an avid gamer, use digital animation, and know a good amount about computers. I would highly recomend this company to my friends.
Great site, PC configuration was very easy. Pentium 2.8 with shuttle MB and ATI 9700 vido card... Best price I could find on the net, and I could pick the parts I wanted!! System arrived right on time and has been running a week with no problems. Was missing one case fan, emailed customer service and they said it would be put in the mail.

A friend of mine wanted a computer with a "warranty" so he opted to go with Cyberpower. I ordered the computer for him on my credit card on Oct. 28, 2002 and it was at my door on Nov. 11, 2002. I was very pleased with how quickly I received the computer.
So, we open the box and everything looks great. I pull the computer out and I hear something rattling around inside the case... I think to myself, "oh great." Upon inspection it turns out that the hard drive cage and neon light are bouncing around freely inside the case. This is not a good sign, after a few minutes I am able to secure the cage and light and we put the panel back on.
We turn the computer on and hope for the best... As the computer starts the first thing I notice is that the DDR memory is set at 266Mhz when they claimed it would be 333Mhz... No big deal, I can change that later... Well, it goes to boot up windows and nothing happens. Wonderful...
Long story short, the computer will just not boot, I repair the windows installation and get into windows but the next reboot it does the same thing.
Finally after some coaxing, a fresh windows install and other mysterious happenings the computer starts to work fine.
We try to install the sound blaster live but it turns out that they did not include the WinXP drivers!!! We install the Geforce TI-4200 but the drivers included were unstable and rebooted the computer each time we tried to play a game!!! So, I headed over to a friends house and burned the most current drivers for each device to a cd.
After all of this the computer is working great. But if we wanted to go through all of this I would have just built the computer for my friend. All in all, we will be very hesitant to order another computer from Cyberpower.
I also forgot to mention that the light does not work, it just intermittently flashes.
The only thing good about this experience is that my friend learned first hand why hardcore computer users NEVER should leave the computer assembly to another company. Computer "warranties" are worthless when you have a friend like me and I would highly recommend that anybody to build their computer if they can, or if they know somebody who can.
I purchased a computer for home in Nov 00. Liked the price, and was moderately satisfied (although I did have problems) so I purchased six more computers for my organization in May 01. Purchasing experience was not smooth. People on the other end of the line were not very knowledeable about their products.
The first computer was dead on arrival. At the time service was from Allorica. Called it in and they sent someone out to replace motherboard. When we received the six computers at work, 3 were DOA. We eventually got those all fixed. Fast forward to Nov 02: Home computer mother board will not boot. Tried contacting Allorica (supposed to provide Tech support) and the recording tells me that they no longer support CyberPower. Tried calling all CyberPower numbers at 9:00PM MST and all I get is a ring at the other end. No voicemail, no recording, no automated system. Hmmm... These guys don't seem to be too professional. We'll see what happen if and when I get a human at the other end of the line.

I'm a partner of a reseller company in Idaho. Most of my reselling is done through a sister company to cyber power and then again a few orders are done directly from the cyberpower's website. Each system I have ordered from them is extremely well priced. Their systems show great potential and reliability. I'm sure cyberpower is currently going through a rush of business so a little patience and knowledge may be needed with these systems. For example, I have caught one system where they forgot to plug the audio cable from the CD-ROM to the sound card, but it was almost a dead givaway when I noticed the cable sitting in the box. I don't use customer tech support so I can't give a rating on that, but in general their systems are reliable, extremely well priced and a great investment for any home owner with a little bit of computer knowledge. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there not like HP or Compaq, which I have found to produce awefully unreliable systems but will hold your hand and kiss your tush. Cyberpower is for seriouse PC users who are somewhat knowledgable and looking for a great deal on a great PC.

My system works just like i want it to... perfectly. I love how they send you the drivers for your devices and how they use quality fans. Little things like that really put Cyberpower above the rest. I had no trouble whatsoever with contacting customer support... i got antsy and called them to get my order and shipping number... I'm definetly buying my next comp from them. They even had it delivered to my house before they said it was going to ship. definetly a pleasent surprise. Highly recomended.
Abouth 3.5 years ago, I purchased a system from CyberPower and was impressed with the flexiblity and price. To my delight, again I was impressed with my order for an updated machine (about $1450 with shipping).
I did need to update some drivers and do some final configuring, but then thats just me. I wanted a certain config and CP was able to deliver that system and at a great price.
One note, if you're a non-tech type, you may want to stick with a standard system. The order process may tend to scare folks away, but if you know what you want and need to save $$$ getting
it (esp DIY'ers), then CP is the only place to buy. -Michael.
I placed my order 9/20/2002 over the telephone with Angela at station #106. I received a copy of my order by fax shortly after hanging up.
The order consisted of:
AMD XP-2200+ Athlon CPU,
Corsair 512MB PC3200 PC400 DDR, Maxtor 80GB 7200 ATA133 HD,
CPU heatsink and fan,
two extra case fans, Gigabyte 7VAX-P KT400 RAID, LAN, Sound,
Albatron Ti4200 128MB DDR w/ TV out,
MSI 46X16X48 CD-RW,
FDD 1.44 Mitsumi,
AMD certified 350W ATX med. case,
PS2 keyboard and mouse,
480W speaker w/ subwoofer,
Windows XP Home,
round cables,
System box and foam, and
Viewsonic E90F monitor.
On 9/23/2002 I altered the order, changing the Viewsonic monitor for a Sony 15" Flat Panel LCD.
So my order is in by 9/23/2002. A couple of days later I go to the web site to check on the status and there it is with an expected ship date of 10/04/2002. On Monday 10/07/2002 I check the status again. No new info. Not shipped. I call to inquire what is the status. I was informed that it would ship Wednesday or Thursday. Over a week later 10/15/2002 I call again to check on the status. I'm informed that there has been some sort of hold placed on the system. Seems the memory was back ordered. She believes the memory should be in next week and they would send it "3 day" at no extra charge because of the delays. Another week goes by. No system arrives. No change in status of my order. No communication from Cyberpower, Inc. Yesterday 10/23/2002 during their business hours I called and could not speak with anyone. I left a message cancelling my order. I also e-mailed them with a cancellation. Hope they have not yet charged my credit card.
I see this as a lack of COMMUNICATION on the part of Cyberpower, Inc. They should have procedures in place to communicate with their customers.
Amendment #1:
Four (4) hours after writing the above; I find that UPS has attempted to deliver 2 packages from Cyberpower, Inc. I was not at the delivery address, so I did not receive them.
Again, no e-mail to notify me that the order had been filled, packed, shipped, or any tracking numbers; lack of communication.
Further updates to follow.
UPS made the delivery 10/24/2002 after I called their local office. Very accomodating of UPS to make a second delivery on the same day.
Hooked everything up and got it running. The CD was not found on start up. I shut down and opened up the case to find a loose cable. Plugged it in, restarted and everything was working.
Everything seems to working properly. If only Cyberpower had better communication procedures in place. . . .

So I try to boot the computer up and it seems to sporadically boot. Sometimes it freezes in post, other times is freezes in the middle of loading the same .cab file in Win2k. Everything I try fails (I'm a CompTIA A+, Network+ tech... plus MCSE, CNA, MCDBA, and a few other simiarly unrelated, but tell-tale signs of experience in the field)
Then there is a whole new horror story with their technicians. Basically I waited on hold for 45 minutes to speak to a tech. I finally gave up and called my sales rep back. It was the same girl for sure, but she had completely forgotten who I was, didn't remember my problem, and worst of all, when she looked me up in their database, she had no record of my problem.. despite the fact that she told me she was making note of the whole situation.
She said she couldn't help me and I'd just have to call tech support again and wait longer until I got through.
So I called tech support again and put it on speaker phone so my neck wouldn't strain from waiting. Finally nearly an hour later (these are not exagerations... my phone has a call-duration clock on it, I checked each time) a tech answers the phone.
I tell him about my situation. He couldn't seem to care less about anything other than the bare minimum requirements. He eventually tells me he thinks I have bad RAM.
He said I have to send back the bad RAM at my expense and once they receive the RAM, they'll send me some new RAM. I ask him why I need to pay shipping for their defective product on my brand new computer. He has no explanation. I then ask how long it's going to take if I FedEx the memory to him. He says after they receive the memory it will take 3-4 days to ship the memory out, and then however long UPS ground takes to deliver the memory from CA to TN. He says that they can only ship UPS ground unless I want to pay extra. I explain to him again that I ordered this computer a month ago, being promised it would be shipped within 7 days. I now have a new employee starting in 2 days and without this computer working, they will be without a computer. (yes we normally keep a spare or two, but they were being used because of a couple unrelated hardware failures he had on some older computers). He was indifferent and said if I had a problem with it I could speak to his manager. This is where it gets good. He put me through... AND I WAS ON HOLD FOR THE MANAGER FOR NEARLY THREE HOURS!!! I actually put the line on hold and used another line at the office to call the tech back and ask why 1.5-2 hours had gone by and the manager wasn't picking up. He got a very nasty attitude with me and told me he had no control over "how (his) manager spent (his) time".
So then I resorted to some very simple Q&A
-Is your manager in his office?
Yes
-Is your manager on the phone?
No
-Is your manager's phone ringing with my call?
I don't know
-Could you please go into your office and tell your manager to check his line because I'm calling and have been on hold for over two hours now?
No, I told you I don't decide what my manager does with his time.
So anyhow... I hang up with this guy and the other line stays on hold for nearly another hour.
After I get on the phone with the mgr he decides his tech was wrong and that it is my motherboard that is the problem. I tell him I want to be sure so he finally agrees to ship out both a motherboard (the one I actually ordered this time) and RAM. He finally decides he can swap-ship the memory out (albeit while still charging my credit card until the defective merchandise is returned, but this doesn't really matter to me... especially at this point).
Now that would have been OK if it hadn't taken nearly 2 weeks until the memory got here. And when it did get there, the memory was still PC266, not PC333. So I swap the stuff in (I have no idea what they'd do if I was the other 75+% of their customer-base who doesn't know how to swap a MB out??)... and it works great. I call them up to tell them about them sending the wrong memory again.
3 weeks later I get it and it's PC266 again. I give up!
Oh and on a side note, they never sent me an invoice with this computer. The invoice number I have listed is my customer number instead. I've called my salesperson 5 times now over the coarse of the last month or so, requesting for her to fax it. I even spoke to somebody else once who was covering for her while she was on vacation...
I still haven't seen the invoice to this date.
Moral of the story, this company's quality, customer service, policies, and proactiveness are unbelievably horrible.
I’ve read many of the ratings on this forum and felt that some individuals have provided a rating prematurely, i.e “Just place the order and so far so good” or “Just got my PC and it’s great”. Others seem to trash the vendor after minor problems. Others seem to have legitimate complaints, although not all the facts are present for the prospective buyer to form a valid opinion. I want to provide an honest review of Cyberpower for those who are ready to layout $1000 bucks for a PC with a vendor that may be on the opposite side of the earth. First, let me say that I researched both the internet as well as local and major PC manufacturers before settling on Cyberpower as my PC supplier. I came to the conclusion that Cyberpower offered the best value for the dollar based on research recommendations from other Cyberpower customers who’s opinion I value. That said, here is my personnel experience:
Ordered my custom built P4-1.8Hz , 80gig drive with ATI 8500DV video card w/alum case and WinXP Pro OS on June 8th,2002.
The system arrived June 18th on time however the Alum case was not in new condition, i.e the case side and top had very minor dents and front face corners, plastic, had what appeared to be worn surface paint where the shipping packaging had rubbed the paint off. I contacted Cyberpower and replacement panels where placed on order. A replacement case was requested at this time and panels were offered which I accepted. I was advised this would take several weeks.
Upon initial startup of my system I had no problems, however when attempting to plug the ATI 8500DV Video card remote RF transmitter into the rear USB port and loading the ATI drivers, not originally installed, I got a lockup and the blue screen of death on startup. This was resolve after several calls to Cyberpower tech support by downloading updated USB drivers from Microsoft and all was well. My point in mentioning this issue was that the 72 hour burn in obviously did not include this remote peripheral device which surprised me. You can assume that the burn in is for the major components only as this device was definitely not checked prior to shipping because it was a lockup issue every time until new drivers were installed.
I had ordered the highest priced and only “Modem Speakerphone” Cyberpower offered and much to my displeasure was furnished a 3COM modem that would not function as a speakerphone under the WinXP OS. This could have been due to the WinXP OS. Cyberpower did replace the modem with a cheaper Intel modem and provided a credit difference. This modem’s sound quality was not acceptable and I requested that Cyberpower take it back and provided a full credit which they did without question.
My initial case took several months to resolve. Apparently only one side panel was available from the case mfg. The top and front panels were on back order so I request a complete case replacement after waiting over six weeks for the initial replacement panels. Again Cyberpower offered and shipped a new Case for which I installed all the components into and now, as of September 20th have a complete and operational system.
I truly have the PC of my dreams. I could not have purchased this PC with the options I have from any other manufacturer for the price I paid. Cyberpower staff, although at times were difficult to reach ,i.e. extended phone wait time, provided a RMA number for all components returned and provided prepaid shipping labels as well. They also provided prompt account credits when applicable. In short Cyberpower did everything I requested in what I considered a timely and professional manner.
When I read some of the negative responses, I can’t help but think that perhaps these customers are not really PC savvy and some of the frustrations may be due to a lack of knowledge on their part. The big question is would I recommend Cyberpower as a PC supplier, that can only be answered with resounding YES and NO. For those who are not willing to spend the time and effort needed at times to resolve problems, my answer is NO. You should go with the big volume major manufactures and settle for a less equipped PC that has no room for expansion at a higher price. But for those of you who are fairly PC literate, I highly recommend Cyberpower as the best place I could find for the PC that meets my demanding needs now and has room for expansion in the future. A company that’s been in business since 1992 in the PC market must be doing something right.
PS: To early to comment on warranty performance, however the 3 year warranty offered was another reason I chose Cyberpower. My guess is they’ll be good on their word.
Placed order Oct 7. Item should have shipped Oct 9. Called Oct 11 because I still received no response, they said Item would ship that night. It didn't ship, I called back Oct 14, they said they were still processing my order. So I canceled it.
I've been shopping for a pc suited to my tastes for some time now. Finally decided to go with Cyberpower. I'm in the US Navy and am very meticulous about how I spend my money. Hopefully all goes well with this company. Placed order on 10/13/2002 9:15 pm. Ordering process was easy and thorough. Verification email sent right afterwards. So far so good Cyberpower. Updates will come based on my experience with this company. I pray I'll be able to give this company rave reviews.
*Update* Upon receipt and print out of said receipt, noticed they charged me for full shipping (system w/monitor $99) and I only ordered a system minus monitor. Called Bobby as he is my sales contact, took about 30 seconds on phone, said charge was corrected and will be charged for system shipping only. Havn't seen it yet. Will update when I see it. Otherwise no problems getting through to cyberpower..*
