All the reviews below sum it up for 1800flowers.com. I ordered flowers (large size) for Mother's Day on May 6th with a delivery date of May 9th (a day before mothers day). I called my Mom on Mother's Day (May 10th) and asked if she liked the gift I sent. Well, to my surprise, she said she didn't receive a package. So on Monday, the 11th, i call customer service to find out what's going on with my order. They gave me an excuse that the florist they ordered through had a system failure and were backed up on several orders. They told me they would deliver them today (Monday), and that they'd upgrade my order to "even more flowers and we'll add a balloon and a note of apology, as well as send me a $20 gift card" for future use as compensation. I said, that's fine. My mom called me on Tuesday night stating no flowers were delivered. I call customer service back again on Wednesday the 13th (on hold for literally 30 mins before anyone answered) and am pretty heated this time. The customer service rep puts me on hold to call the florist again, comes back after 5 mins and says, "you have two options, you can either have them delivered today and receive a 50% refund, or you can cancel your order and receive a full refund" After arguing with the guy for a bit, I chose option 1, as I still wanted my Mother to recieve her flowers. He told me they'd deliver the flowers today (Wednesday). I was skeptical as i heard this 2 days ago. Wednesday night rolls around and I get a call from my Mom stating, again, that the flowers were not delivered. I'm livid at this point. My dad calls me this morning (Thursday) and says they were finally delivered. He took pictures of what came. There was no balloon, no apology letter, and the there were less flowers delivered than what the picture on 1800flowers.com showed. I wish I would have read these reviews first before making a purchase, that's my own fault. At least I received 50% of my money back, but WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will gladly pay a little more money and go through a local florist from now on.

My girlfriend received the Sweetest Love bouquet the day before Valentines Day and the whole order was messed up. The flowers came in a big ugly vase and she didn't even know it was the flowers that she talked about 24/7 until I told her. I paid $15 for the chocolate truffles in the quilted heart box and she got assorted chocolate in a paper Garfeld box. The card on the flowers read " Happy Valentines Day!love Always & Foreverkevin". There were no spaces. Love and Kevin were not capitalized. Everything that could've went wrong did go wrong and our Valentines was screwed up because they didn't get my order right. I talked to someone over the phone and they were going to send her more flowers usuing a different florist. She went to work early the day she was suppose to get the flowers cause she was excited about getting them at work. She never received them because the person lied to me and never put the order in. I called back again and the lady I talked to gave me a full refund and a different redelivery date. This person also lied to me and didn't put the order in. I called back again and talked to another lady and she was suppose to set a redelivery date for today but she charged me $140 for them. This is the worst service I've ever had through any business and I'm tired of being lied to and these people trying to rip me off. I spent my last penny on these flowers and it was suppose to be a special day for my girlfriend. However, it turned out to be a nightmare and here it is over a week and nothing has been resolved yet. I will never do business with these guys again and you shouldn't either!!!

Wow.
That's all I can say.
This is another vendor I've used, and either I am absurdly lucky, or the reviews are just plain wrong.

Granted, I didn't order on Valentine's Day at the last minute - I ordered after a bad morning fighting with my wife or something trivial.

I ordered the JEWEL OF MY HEART(TM) (#17360)
and Add On: One "I Love You" Mylar Balloon (#2050LV)

They were stunning.

I grew up working in my parents' flower shop, so I know good fresh flowers from stale crappy ones.

I also know that national floral referral services are only as good as the independently owned shop that actually fulfills the order.

I remembered from my own experience in the shop that FTD had poor arrangements that only looked good from one angle. Back then, Teleflora was the way to go.

Why did I go with 1-800-flowers?

Because one woman I work with always gets email from them, she has excellent taste, and I was in a hurry.

These not only looked good upon delivery, they stayed looking good over a week. (She kept them even longer, though after a week I would have tossed them.)

She received the delivery about 90 minutes after I placed the order.

The vase, while I'm sure was inexpensive, did not look like it. Unlike the awful milk glass or green glass, this one is a beautiful purple/lavender shade and would look fine in any surroundings.

My wife works in a tax office, and every day she told me about all the compliments she received.

I made the mistake of giving 1-800-Flowers a second chance, after they failed me one previous time. The previous time, the so called "roses" they sent looked like something that were dug out of the trash after the care takers got done cleaning up the headstones at a graveyard. On that order I called to complain, they were nice enough and offered to resend them, which I said ok. BIG Mistake...no better. After a few more calls, and an attempt at a third delivery I got a big 20% of my order refunded to me.

So a year passed, I was out of town on Valentines and decided, hey let me try this again. BIGGER MISTAKE. I ordered two dozen roses in a vase, with a box of chocolates. Well...the chocolats showed up, along with a stuffed animal (bear) but no roses. So I called right away, was on hold for 20 minutes on the 14th, no one ever picked up. I called again on the 15th, twice, same thing.

I finally get in touch with them this morning. And guess what, they offered me 20% of the order amount as refund. But I didn't get what I ordered??? They say, well you weren't suppose to get a stuffed animal (bear), but we sent that instead, so that replaces the value of the vase and some roses, so we can only authorize a 20% refund. His supervisor wouldn't get on the phone, she told him to relay this to me.

I then called their corporate headquaters in Carle Place, Long Island. Was put on hold, for 15 minutes, then disconnected. Never actually getting to talk to someone.

So, I'm on a one man mission to get the word out. If they refuse to give me 100% refund, well I'm going to get my satisfaction and then some by letting as many people as I know about how poor the service and products are at 1800FLOWERS. Do yourself a favor, use your local florist, and support the neighborhood small business.

Thanks

The same as many others, I ordered 2 dozen roses for my wife for Valentines and paid the premium for guaranteed delivery on the 14th. The 14th came and went, no roses. The 15th came and went, no roses.
I called the customer service number and after being hung up on by the automated phone system at least 20 times I was put in the call queue.

To my surprise the rep was cordial and not rude. I have to say they can be shrewd a try to double talk you into believing it's your fault or the shipping company's fault. She actually wanted me to contact UPS to find out where the roses were. Last time I looked it was the shippers responsibility to track shipments. When she offered to refund the shipping costs I asked her to prove that the order actually left the facility, prove that it was given to UPS, she could not. I believe UPS tracking more than I believe 1800's word. UPS tracking did not show the order in their system.
I told the CS rep that I did not want a box of dead flowers, if they ever did arrive, and to please issue a full refund. She did along with a confirmation number. That surprised me considering all the other posts I've read.
After this experience of dissapointment and my wife's disappointment....
The only other time I would ever user 1800flowers would be to send a funeral arrangement when this company goes under.
I have to say, my wonderful wife was very understanding and she loved the flowers I ran out and got at the local supermarket. It was the only place open at the time, and I couldn't let the day go by with out giving her flowers.
I may sound calm now and when I called them, but I was hopping mad at the time, as I'm sure everyone else who got disappointed by this company was. Be assured I will never order from them again, and always use a local florist, in person, from now on.

Ordered some flowers for my girlfriend for Valentine's day. Chose guaranteed delivery on Valentine's day so she would receive them at work since she had to work until 9pm.

2/13/08
Placed many calls attempting to contact customer service to confirm that my order would be delivered on time so I could be sure my girlfriend would be getting them. I was unable to get through to a customer service rep. The call was either disconnected or never answered.

2/14/08
Received a voicemail stating that my order would not be delivered on Valentine's day but perhaps a day or two after. The lady said I should call back to confirm this. I tried to call back all day and was unable to get through again. I sent 2 inquiries using the contact form on 1800flowers.com first asking if there was a place I could go to pick up my flowers or a different bouquet (and if not, cancel my order) since they had seriously messed up my Valentine's day. The second inquiry I sent stated flat out to cancel my order. I received one email from them saying that I will hear back from them shortly.

2/16/08
I attempted to call customer service again to confirm that my order has been canceled. There are still no flowers to be found, my $84 has not been refunded, and I have still been unable to contact them or hear back from them. I sent them another inquiry using their contact form.

2/18/08
Still have not heard anything from 1800flowers. Have not received the flowers (they would be utterly dead by now) or my refund. Filed a dispute with my credit card company.

2/20/08
Received a call in the morning from 1800flowers saying they are charging back the amount to my credit card since the order was never delivered.

I placed an order on 2/9 for a Valentine's bouquet of flowers. I took a lot of time to find the "right" bouquet for the occaison. The flowers were indeed delivered on 2/14 as promised (I had to pay extra, of course), but when the recipient sent me a picture of what they received, I was horrified!!! My magnificant bouquet that I had paid $175 for was nothing more than a dozen slightly wilty red roses and 4 stargazer lilies stuck amongst an unattractive bush of greens. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT as I could have achieved the same end result from my local grocery store for about $30! What was delivered was and completely unaccpetable and way off the mark from the bouquet advertised from the 1800flowers.com website. Reading some of the other reviews here, sadly, it seems to be more the norm than the exception with this company.

They have promised me a 2nd bouquet will be delivered, and that it will be "right" this time. We'll see whether they step up to the plate and make things right, or whether they embarrass me a second time. I hope not, because 2 strikes and you're out with me as a customer.

Ball is in their court.

2/21 UPDATE -- The new bouquet was redelivered today as promised. It is MUCH nicer than the sparse arrangement of dying flowers that was sent on Valentine's Day.

While I'm happy with the bouquet, two things stick out here:
- The bouquet still looks NOTHING like the arrangement advertised on the 1800flowers website. Maybe the picture they're using to sell flowers is just over-zealous, and not even feasible to sell to customers?? That certainly looks to be the case here.
- I thought I had this all sorted out with 1800flowers, but the recipient tells me they were harrassed by the florist, who told them that they were expecting an EXCHANGE of the original flower arrangment before they gave them the new arrangement of flowers. This is absolutely a "WTF?" scenario!

The 1800flowers CSR said NOTHING about an "exchange" when I spoke with them. And why the hell is the florist harrassing my valentine when it was their screw up to begin with?

All in all, this is just a BAD experience, and I'm personally done with using 1-800-Flowers in the future. They and their rude florists can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

My husband ordered me flowers for Valentines day back in January, before he left for his deployment. He emailed me from his current location to let me know that there would be a "valentines day surprise" coming on Thursday. I was so excited! I couldn't wait for Thursday to come! Well, I got home Thursday night and NOTHING. I WAS DEVASTATED, talk about pouring salt on an open wound. As if I wasn't feeling bad enough that my husband has been gone a month with many more to go! Today I received a voicemail saying they "tried" to deliver the flowers yesterday but they had "car trouble". That is the lamest excuse I've ever heard! Now my arrangement is going to be delivered TOMORROW. Gee, thanks for my flowers that are already two days old. I'll make sure he never buys from 1800 flowers again.

I have read many comments about this company and I am in the same boat. I ordered some flowers for my wife for V-DAY also, and like every one else they arrived a day late. This is not the first time that this has happened. I ordered flowers for my mother about 3 years ago and she never got them and I did not get a refund until about 2 months after. And it was gift card. Who the hell wants a gift card. It would be one thing if I was able to spend V-DAY with my wife, and did'nt get the flowers on time. But I'm stuck here in IRAQ and this was the only way that I could say, "I LOVE YOU". It's sad the way that this company treats soldiers. We are the reason why you are safe and are able to continue with this "BS". I suggest that this company gets their act together, or people my be willing to take these customer comments to the next level!!!

AVOID THIS COMAPNY!!! DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I ordered flowers to be delivered for my mother on Valentine's Day. They didn't show up. It's now the end of the day Feb 15th still no flowers. I called and got the usual rude, apathetic phone rep. I also talked to a supervisor Kimberly ID 10709. I was just going to deal with them delivering a day late, but they were so rude and insulting I ended up just cancelling the order. For missing V day, they offered to deliver "as soon as possible" (3 days late? 4 days?) and give me a 20% discount. You've got to be kidding me. This is insulting. The only reason I ordered from them was to get flowers delivered on V day as they had promised when I shelled out the $85 to get them there on V Day!! They wouldn't refund any shipping or offer any remotely fair resolution. I am furious. WILL NEVER USE THUIS COMPANY AGAIN. I WILL TELL EVERYONE WHAT A CRAP COMPANY THEY ARE. They ruined my V Day gift for my mother. Because of them, she didn't get anything and I had to explain this BS! SHAME ON YOU!!!!

The same thing happened to me today as a number of people has written below -- NO FLOWERS ARRIVED today on Valentine's Day!! It's true that unlike these people, I waited until the very last minute (2/13) to order. But the site does say "order before 2pm that day for same day delivery". Hey, if they already know that at the time of my order, my local florist would not have been able to deliver the flowers on Feb 14 as I have requested, they should NOT have allowed me to proceed with the order. And today, when I tried first to call them to track the order, and then later to cancel the order, I could not even get through to the customer reps! Rather than putting me on hold, they just said "all the reps are busy now, and we can't take your call", and hung up on me. I then tried to e-mail them to cancel the order, explaining that since it will already be passed Valentine's day when the flowers do arrive. They sent me back a reply saying that I am not allowed to make changes or to cancel the order because of the high traffic during the holiday. So they just took my money, and they are going to send my wife the flowers (assuming they are still sending them, who knows?) couple of days later? when they are meaningless??

I should have stuck with iflorist.com as I did last year, when I had a same-day delivery order with them. They were much more responsive. As soon as they got my e-mail, they called up the local florist and confirm with me that the flowers will be delivered on the same day. I thought a big place like 1800flowers would be even better, but man was I wrong.

My aunt passed away last week and as it was going to be a Jewish funeral (1-2 days after death), I was unable to attend. She was the mother of my twin cousins, so I ordered two items, one for each of their respective houses, for same-day delivery. The after-funeral reception was to take place at one cousin's house and the other cousin would be there, so I sent a gourmet gift basket to that home and a plant to the other. The plant arrived, but the gift basket did not. The driver never even attempted to deliver it, as no one heard the doorbell ring, and the family were there all afternoon and evening following the funeral. The florist couldn't even give the 1800FLOWERS customer service rep a time quote when the driver supposedly attempted delivery--"either 2 or 3," and they said everyone was home. The customer service rep tried to make amends by having the (same) florist send an upgraded gourmet basket the next day (when I called to complain about nondelivery the day before). I requested that no meat be put into the basket. We are all pretty much vegetarian, and they are not kosher, but the florist sent a basket with Viennese sausage and cheese and crackers, apart from the fruit. It is not what I asked for, and 1800FLOWERS customer service understood this. When I called back the day after delivery to report it, the customer service rep I got was not very nice at all, like the first one had been. I said I wanted to complain about the florist, and she rerouted me to empty air space on the phone, before telling me that she wasn't authorized to handle a complaint about a florist. I called back after hanging on hold for 5 minutes or more and got the same rep, I think. When I asked about a refund, she said they'd be happy to give one if the basket was picked up and returned. Big clown. The family had already eaten the fruit; I don't know what they did with the crap that they don't eat. The nasty rep (Diane) said they don't issue refunds unless the merchandise is returned. This is the first bad experience I've had with 1800FLOWERS, but it's bad enough to prevent me from ever using them again. I'm astonished at this, and I will complain to the director of customer service as a courtesy, not expecting anything to be done to ameliorate all of this, and to my credit card company to see if they can give me any satisfaction. I wouldn't be surprised if 1800FLOWERS even cheated me out of the airline mileage I'm supposed to get for placing the order with their firm. For flowers and anything else I send across the country by wire or Web, it's FTD for me, from here on in--or some other company who's even better, and greener, and not anti-Semites or lazy bums who can't leave their truck to ring a doorbell when they see 10 or 15 cars around a driveway, to make a delivery for condolences following a funeral. Viennese sausages to a Jewish, vegetarian family! Nazis?

On May 8th 2007, I ordered flowers for My Mother from 1800Flowers. They were supposed to be delivered the next day (May 9th, 2007), well in time for Mother's Day which was May 13, 2007. On May 16th, I got as call from my Mom. SHE NEVER RECEIVED THE FLOWERS!!!!

I contacted 1800Flowers that night. After arguing with them for several minutes, a Supervisor finally cam on and promised TO DELIVER THE FLOWERS AND GIVE A FULL REFUND.

I never received notification of the delivery, and I never saw my bank account credited anything. I called my Mother to find out that they finally were delivered on Saturday (TEN DAYS LATE, AND SIX DAYS PAST MOTHERS DAY).

I called 1800Flowers today (MAY 22nd) to find out what happened to my refund, as was told that they never refund the whole amount if the flowers are eventually delivered. They claimed that they had nothing in the notes about it.

I demanded to speak to a supervisor, and when I told him that I would tell everyone I know how I was treated, I was told to do whatever I had to do.

So, I am here to tell people not to do business with this company. THEY LIED TO ME. They ruined my Mother's Mothers Day. They are not to be trusted, and I am telling everyone not to do business with them, unless they find such treatment acceptable.
