this company is a NIGHTMARE...I would NEVER do business with them...I order an FX5200 video card...they send me what they say is an FX5200, but the card has no VGA connector...it has a single connector which, after a lot of research, I find out is a DMS-59 connector (which no one has ever heard of)...they won't take it back...I called to dispute the credit...ascendtech then calls me at home (which the credit card company said was very improper) and says they are going to report me for "theft"...I would NEVER deal with this company
Their prices seem good, but the RMA process is not reasonable or fair. I ordered a motherboard which arrived in a malfunctioning state (bad ethernet and soundcard), and after shipping the board back (which I had to pay for) and the tech determining that the board was defective, they charged me a 20% "restocking fee" (to restock the trash bin I assume), charged me for the original FREE shipping, and did not refund my return shipping. After all of this, I ended up with a refund reduced to 20$ for something that was completely their fault. I will never buy from this company again.
You know Ascentech has some really great deals for some real savings, like the motherboard I just ordered, its a Pentium D, and its not a bad board, I have already ordered one before last month, its just a sad thing, to git such a great deal 66 dollars AND THIN GIT CHARGED 14 - 14 Dollars to ship the damn thing TO BAD Ascendtech, from now on I order from 3Btech.net they ship all of their items FREEEEEE....Ascendtech drops the ball, they offer a dual core motherboard combo snag, then clip ya on the 14 dollar shipping charge BOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
I am less than impressed with the product. It has been less then 3-months and we just had our second hard drive fail out of 6. I will say that when the first arrived DOA they rma'd it quickly and replaced it with a good drive. We will see what happens with the second.
BAD,BAD,BAD! They sold me a defective, used motherboard as an OEM. I spoke with the owner, Jim, who claimed every board was tested, and OEM did not mean new, but a mixture of new, used, and refurbished. The listing said nothing about the board being used. I was furnished a RMA, and had to pay $7.69 of my own money to send it back. When they received it I got an email claiming it was "good" and to send an additional $10 to have the bad board returned to me! (probably a bait and switch, they just don`t want to pay to ship a good board back to me) Or option 2, a refund with a 20% restocking fee minus shipping costs, which would have netted me about $4! TOTAL BS! I`ve bought 9 motherboards from them, and as a small business owner with 11 years of computer experience, I know a good board from a bad one! You`d have thought customer service would have accommodated me by sending a new board to keep a good customer, and to ensure future sales. All they have done is lose me as customer, and I have asked my friends not to purchase from them anymore. I`m currently disputing the sale with PayPal to recoup my original cost.
************** UPDATE **************
Apparently PayPal doesn`t care if the product purchased is defective, and has been returned to the seller. They only deal with, or care about shipping disputes. Therefore the claim was denied. I had to settle for the 20% restocking fee minus shipping. (I haven`t received it yet)My advice is NOT to use PayPal, but your credit card so you can file a chargeback instead. This company ONLY cares about the sale. If the product is good, you might be OK. If it`s defective, you`ll pay a hefty toll! Check out the BBB website for their wonderful "F" rating!

I purchased a motherboard from this company and recieved it and it doesn't work at all. I called the company to send it back. I was frustrated by the way it was handled. Either I send it back and let them test it to see if it really is dead or I return it and have to pay a 20% restocking fee on a motherboard that was dead to begin with. Also I have to wait for them to send a replacement till they get the dead one back and can do testing on it. This whole time my computer is dead and I am frustrated. I will not purchase from this company ever again. they stated that they do not pretest the motherboards that they sell.
I received a defective motherboard and tried to send it back. After receiving the motherboard, AscendTech said it didn't match their records and they won't replace it. I didn't have the motherboard their records indicated. They are using their sloppy record keeping as an excuse to not stand behind their products.
I ordered a power supply and a motherboard. Both were faulty and needed to be replaced. I received the power supply two weeks after the mother board even though it was ordered the same day. The power supply was bad and had to be replaced and after receiving a new power supply that worked; the motherboard would not work. The time was now exceeded on the motherboard warranty and Barebonekit.net would no longer honor the warranty. I paid almost $100.00 additional dollars to have my computer go through a System diagnostic twice only to find out the parts I received from Barebonekit.net were bad. I will not be ordering anything further from this company. I am very dissatisfied with the service I received. I have ordered computer software and hardware on line for many years. I went with Barebonekit.net because they had a large array of parts but apparently not service to match.

I boutht a defective motherboard from this company and they said it was not (I was practically called a liar by their service tech). I've been repairing computers for a living for the last 20 years so I know a defective board when I see one. I was charged a 15% restocking fee plus freight to get at least part of my money back. If I had known that this purchase was from the same company doing business under a different name I would never have bought from them again.
Based on the good ratings given to this company, I ordered two motherboards from them; an ASUS K8V-MX, and an FIC K7M. Delivery was very prompt, but I was very disappointed to discover that both boards were non-functional. Both are now in the trash. I will be more careful in the future, and certainly will steer clear of these guys.
I ordered a motherboard for my dell 3000 unit. which did not function. I after taking the unit to a tech finally was able to determine the unit was received DOA, I called ascendtech to get a replacement part for a doa part & was told that because it was over 30 days I was out of luck. I have never heard of a computer component coming w/ no warranty or replacement for a defective product sold.

After recieving confirmation of order I was contacted by e-mail and told shipping was going to be 15.00 dollars,Very unprofessional shipping should always be addressed before order confirmation. If you advertise "Free shipping"! should it not be free. I call it false advertising
First time customer and a very unsatisfied one. I ordered a ECS 945P-A LGA775 800MHZ FSB MOTHERBOARD, 945P-A V.1.1, last Tuesday. The board arrived Thursday, poorly packaged, in a motherboard box that was all banged up. First when I saw that I wasn't too sure the boards going to function right. And when I decided to test the board it doesn't work. First I thought maybe my graphic card is defective, tested it on a different computer and it works fine. Than tried the cpu and ram on different comps and same out come, nothing wrong there. I than contacted customer service to see what they can do. They said the board works, and if I want them to retest it I have to pay for shipping. Why do I have to pay for shipping on a busted board?? I spent 6 hours and more trying to solve this on my own and they said the board works. For all I know the board could of got damaged during shipping and now I am stuck with a defective product. LESSON LEARNED SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND GO TO A DIFFERENT SELLER. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
Ordering was fast and easy. Order arrived quickly
and without damage. However I was sent the wrong
part. I e-mailed ascendtech and their response was
fast and they gave me an rma to send it all back. But after thinking about it I decided to keep what
was sent me and use it in some other application later and save me the extra shipping cost for their mistake and I will try to order what I need
later.
I wrote a review already, but since I got this item on ebay I can't figure out the invoice number. The last time I tried to get my review though I used the ebay item number. This time I am using the paypal transaction number. Pretty slick of them not giving me anyway to verify my purchase. Please email me and I can prove I ordered from these crooks!
In any case I ordered a motherboard from their ebay store. The motherboard powered on but would not post. I used tested and approved CPU and memory and heatsink and fan to test it, reset the BIOS, I even used a video card, everything that could be done, but no post. I had to email back and forth a long time to even get authorized for RMA, but when they received the board the response was amazingly fast. They say the board tests good and I can have it back for $10 more dollars. I was irate! It is as if they called me a moron, and then expect me to pay on top of it! I never knew any online retailer to not at least pay return shipping. Add that to the fact that I have been building computers for years and they essentially either lied to me, or only tested to see if the damn thing powers on, without even plugging it in to a monitor! So I made the mistake of using profanity. They basically sent one email to say I will get a refund, and here it is 5 days later and I have no refund (I paid with PayPal, I should have had it long ago!)
I have had to open a claim with PayPal to hopefully recoup the lousy $21 price of the board. That doesn't help me with the $24 I spent shipping a dead motherboard around the country only to get abused by these people!
Edit: OK, now I have had to escalate to a PayPal claim due to lack of any response or follow through from Ascendtech. All they have to do to get me to forget them is refund my lousy $20.99, yet when things went sour, they tell me "you'll get your refund" but the what? Are they punishing me for annoying them because they screwed up?!?
August 26th edit: Now a full PayPal claim, they can't even be bothered to respond to PayPal! So this nightmare started August 4th and I have yet to see a working part or a refund, after they told me I would get it. They are being petty out of spite! If this is not proof positive you should think twice about dealing with this outfit, I think you need your head examined!
Edit (August 29th): They finally issued my refund. No explanation and no apology, just issued the refund through PayPal. So I guess you can say they will do right by by you, IF you force them to. Wonderful huh?
