A terrible amount of hassle processing my credit card. Never was able to speak with someone on the phone about it. They insisted on communication via email only. Rather than try and sort it out properly, I was forced to accept shipment at my home address rather than my work address. Which meant I had to take the day off work just to receive shipment. I tend purchase something online at least once a month and have it shipped to my work address -- so this was particuarly ridiculous. All in all, it was the most hassle I've ever gone through in 10 years of purchasing products online.
Email may be convenient, but they really need to up the professionalism and not be afraid to answer their phone and discuss the situation with their customers.

The owner of the company called me after I posted the review above, and proceeded swear at me for giving them a poor review. I tried to calm him down to no avail. This company has absolutely no comprehension of professionalism. It's astounding.
To be clear --
The "blackmail" line below is yet another GLARING example of their lack of professionalism.
The laptop has no problems what-so-ever. I had (and still have) no clue about an extended Asus warranty. I honestly don't even know what warranty I have on this laptop is right now, nor do I care. That's a complete fabrication on his part. I never mentioned any such thing and it's nothing I would ever be concerned with in the slightest.
I also certainly don't need any money, which is just a completely unplausible and absurd accusation. Again, complete fabrication on their part.
I would have been more than happy never to have heard from this company again and infact I hadn't even thought about them until I was asked to take this survey.

As our policy is stated, we will not ship to any address that can not be verified by the credit card company for the security of the card holder.
Before your order was processed, you contacted us by email. We responded and when your credit card company wouldn't verify your shipping address, we first tried to reply to you via email. Our email was answered quickly with suggestions from you. When we continued to have problems with your card company, you said we could just ship to your billing address so not to delay shipping time. If we did not get a response via email as quickly as we had, our billing department would have given you a call.
As such, we followed your instructions.
Sir, we did not call you swearing at your for giving us a bad review or in general, but we did contact you to ask why you were unhappy with the situation which you are the one who suggested everything that you are unhappy with to us in the first place. Then trying to blackmail us for a good review to get the value ($150) of/or the extra year warranty Asus started a week after you took delivery of your laptop isn't going to get you very far either. |

My experience with ProPortable has not been a good one this time around. Because I had such a good experience with Justine when I ordered a laptop a year ago, I contatcted him when I was ready for a new desktop. He was kind enough to build me an ASUS S-presso, which I received as scheduled. The problem began when I needed support for the system. He became very defensive and accusatory to me and completely unprofessional in the way he talked to me. I am still having problems with the computer, but his customer support has been less than desireable. Instead of working any further with him or his company, I have contacted ASUS support and they have been wonderful. Unless you are a computer expert, I would not order from this company. Overall, this is a great little company. I received outstanding pre-purchase and follow-up support for most questions. The company president handled these questions personally, and was very prompt in replying via e-mail.
I went with PROPortable because of the excellent price/value ratio of their products, and the fact that they were the only North American company with access to the highest-quality Asus LCDs. The warranty is also excellent.
The only problems I had were in shipping, in terms of some confusion about how that would work. In the end things worked out. Also (and this has nothing to do with PROPortable), for international orders, I suggest shipping by air instead of ground, as there is less chance of problems in transit. The extra shipping cost is worth it.

I bought an Asus S5N from ProPortable. Good aspects of the service:
Quick turnaround. Got what I wanted in very short order.
Parts availabilty: they had the latest and greatest CPU's and memory available. This matters when you want your laptop to be futureproof for as long as possible.
Price. Very good pricing.
Problem with ProPortable:
Assembly. I got the laptop and Windows XP was only partially installed (computer would not boot up). I needed to wipe the drive then reinstall Windows XP THEN reinstall all the ancillary programs and drivers that Asus requires. I knew enough about computers to do this, but if I didn't, I'd be in very bad shape. I honestly don't know why ProPortable took 3 days to build this thing if all they were going to do is slot in a CPU and a memory module. That sounds like a 15 minute job to me. The software setup is the real work and that was left to me.

I bought a ASUS W1N (a long time ago) from Proportable and the whole experience was really great. Good delivery time, awesome price, etc. Plus, when I had a problem w/the product, Proportable bent over backwards to help me get the manufacturer to honor their extra 1 year warranty promotion (they forgot about the promotion) and I got my laptop fixed for the cost of shipping. These guys rock.

WOW! Proportable is by far the best company I have ever dealt with I chose them after I got a dead laptop from Cyberpower and the reviews on here that I read before really helped. They trully deserve the rating they have.
I ordered a Asus G1p laptop which by the way if freaking awesome. Best laptop I have ever used. I ordered on a sunday and recieved it by Wed. great customer support and very friendly.
I would buy from them again. If you have any doubts about buying from these guys kiss them out the door because they are awesome. They even replied to emails with questions about the laptop on a sunday at 9 at night. Thats high quality customer support unlike cyberpower who you can't get a hold of even during normal business hours.

I'm very pleased with my Asus V1Jp order from ProPortable.com. The system came when advertised and everything that was expected arrived ok. I had one problem with the extra memory chip that I found was bad, but they helped me online through the removal process. After receiving the replacement chip in a few days, I returned the old one with no questions asked. The system works as
advertised and performs very well. I've had a few questions about the system which they have answered in a timely manner.

I bought an Asus G1 laptop from PROPortable. I had problems with my credit card, since I was buying from abroad, and the company answered all my questions via e-mail wthin 10 minutes, on a Sunday, after 9pm. The laptop shipped two days later, and arrived in 2 days, as promised. The product is awesome! I highly recommend this store.

I was referred to ProPortable by asking at Anandtech forums where I could buy an Asus R1F tablet. I spoke with Sean in November and he was extremely helpful with my questions. I placed the order 1/8 and received everything on 1/10. I make many computing purchases, and would have no reservations referring ProPortable to anyone. Tony

UP TO THIS POINT, THE ASUS RF1 PACKAGE HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF A NUMBER 1 HIT. I THINK A LITTLE LUCK PLAYED WELL FOR ALL OF US TO GET THIS BY X-MAS. HOWEVER, YOUR SERVICE WAS HELPFUL, HONEST, COMFORTABLE, AND VERY INFORMATIVE.
THE PACKAGING AND ACCESSORIES ARE VERY SHARP. THE MACHINE ITSELF IS TIGHT. WE' VE ONLY HAD IT 2 WEEKS, SO WE'LL KEEP YOU POSTED FOR ANY ISSUES GOOD OR BAD.

These guys are great. Excellent customer service. I spent a great deal of time with Sean, and he was very helpful in making my decision for the W3J.
We ran into problems with billing and my credit card, I wanted to use one that they didn't accept through the website, but the went the extra steps to help me purchase the laptop. They tried everything they could to help me use a credit card they don't usually accept, and when that did not work out, they were very flexible with my payment, and even rushed the order out that day to make sure I would get the machine before I had to leave for a business trip a few days later. And when it arrived, and the screen didn't work, they helped walk me through resolving the problem quickly. Rather than telling me to send it back to them, or to contact the manufacturer, they knew the machine very well, and Sean was able to diagnose the problem, and walked me through reseating the graphics card, so instead of waiting to send the machine back in and have it looked at, I was able to start using it right away! Great store and Great customer service. Justin, CEO of Proportable, is very friendly and patient in helping buying my Asus W5F. If anyone consider buying a laptop online, proportable.com is the one to go.

I pre-ordered a new ASUS tablet PC from proportable. I had never pre-ordered before and was a little concerned. ProPortable handle the process very well, with continued support from their sales team. The product was delivered when promised, and everything about the transaction went smoothly

I want to applaud ProPortable for the excellent customer service that they provided me on my recent purchase. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Sean and he was extremely patient and knowledgable. After much research and thought I decided on a W7J. I received it last week and after taking some time to get used to it, I can honestly say that the recommendations Sean made were right on. I love it and it is performing as I had hoped it would. The packaging was perfect and the shipping was fast. I ordered on a Monday afternoon and had the product in my hands on Thursday.
It's so rare to find exceptional service these days, and I highly recommend ProPortable as a reseller.

Quick delivery, double boxed Asus W7J. Computer has been working fine and any and all questions posed were answered within a day. Would do business again.
