On Dec 30th I ordered and received a Cannon camcorder. I got a great deal, I am extremely happy with the product, the shipping time and the price paid.

I also ordered some laser toner cartridges and two printer stands on December 30th. This order was split-up as expected . The first order was my toner cartridges and it arrived earlier than expected.

The second order arrived much earlier than expected but I could not take delivery until I paid an $80.51 import fee. This I did and afterward contacted Tiger Direct Customer Service. I faxed a copy of the charges on January 13th and I have not heard back or seen the promised credit.

The other thing I noticed was that I was charged $58.81 for shipping and handling and not the $1.99 special. I was told by the customer service representative that although each item if ordered separately would have been eligible for the special on shipping, collectively they were too heavy. Apparently if I had split the order into three I could have gotten away paying $5.97 in shipping rather than the extra $52.84 I did pay.

I paid more attention to my first order that day to ensure I got the special shipping rate and not on the second one. As they say buyer beware; it was my fault but I am not happy about it.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and on both counts but as I wait longer and longer for the refund on the import charges I am less thrilled by this experience. I do not know if they even received my fax.

P.S. Even more interesting is that my VISA was charged the $80.51 import fee on January 30th.

It is now February 5th and still no check!!!
--------------------------------
As a follow-up I am happy to report that Tiger Direct made good on their promises and a credit note was processed in February on my VISA for the extra shipping charges; incurred because I did not separate my order.

I also today (Feb 26th)received a cheque for the incorrectly billed duty I paid when taking deliver of the printer stands.

I think that is excellent customer service. While it took some time and effort to get the cheque Tiger Direct was more than fair in rebating the extra shipping costs.

I have bought items on-line and in their stores including two hi-def TVs, a PVR, a new computer, a camcorder, computer software, and a variety of smaller items like memory cards, a GPS system, cables, and computer PCI cards all within the last year. I had never shopped at Tiger Direct before last year. They have made an impression with me.

Their product selection is very good and their prices are extremely competitive. I have enjoyed excellent in-store service. They shipped my on-line items faster than estimated at the time of the order. They have responded to my shipping issue.

What more could you ask for? I am sold.

Good day,

TigerDirect.ca pays all brokerage fees for merchandise shipped under our UPS account. I do not see any record that we have received a brokerage receipt from you (we currently have no backlog). Please resubmit your receipt for refund by fax to 905-482-3149. Ensure that you write your order # on the receipt itself and not on a cover page (these can become detached). We will ensure that you receive a refund for these fees.

Shipping fees are posted up front at the time of your order. You must agree to them prior to paying for the order. In the future, call us directly if you have questions about shipping fees. Your purchase is overweight and did not qualigy for the promotion.

As a good faith gesture, we will make an exception and credit your shipping fees to $5.97 + taxes. Please allow 3-8 business days for the refund to appear on your credit card.

I've purchased a number of things from TigerDirect.ca and most purchases have ended badly.

Most recently, I purchased a refurbished Gateway laptop from TigerDirect.ca. There were problems with the system from the get go - the system overheats and crashes when i'm using graphics-intensive programs. As well, the DVD drive was buggy from the beginning, and died shortly after the 3-month warranty period expired.

I also purchased 2 new Maxtor 250Gb external hard drives. Seemed like a good deal, worked fine initially, but died within a few months. Both of them. They were sale priced, and now I know why. I couldn't send the drives back for replacement because data can be recovered from dead drives, and I had business information on the drives. So I'm out even more money.

I tried to discuss these issues with customer service at TigerDirect.ca but found the experience pointless and frustrating.

Based on these unresolved negative experiences, I don't expect to make any further purchases from TigerDirect.ca.

If customers are unsatisfied with warranty service, we generally contact the manufacturer and speak on our customer's behalf. Gateway is always very co-operative.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you encountered with your Gateway. Gateway does cover the warranty for three whole months. Our records indicate that your merchandise was out-of-warranty when you called us for their contact information.

It is the first time I bought from tigerdirect, I could have reserched more about it. I bought a video card because of the price is good when MIR factored in. Unfortunately, after almost a month it is defective. By defective, I mean: my two systems both hang with the card, by replacing the card, my two systems work fine. Since I already cut the UPC code, return is toally out of the table and I could only exchange it. Also, I have to buy another one to use its box to ship back my old one. After 5 days waiting, and 10$ shipping fee, I sent back the old one. But they told me it is not defective, and charged me a 15% restocking fee. I don't know how they tested the card and made it work. After all those time and effort put in this purchase, it simply doesn't justify the original little saving from the offer. Not to mention the horrible reputation of their MIR.

When buying from TigerDirect.ca, pray not to get a defective product. If it happens, you're doomed. They will reject all responsibility about it. In my case they decided to credit my account rather than exchange the item and I had to pay all the way: pay to get it to my door and incur the fees to return their junk to the store. So I'll never be fully refunded and at the end of the process, I realized that I lost much time and money to get nothing else than trouble. Maybe the good place to buy a mousepad...

I ordered an LG Lightscribe DVD Writer.Usually this is shipped next day but I get email stating this is going to be drop shipped from LG and "NO RETURNS" Well my order was now delayed and arrived Jan 22. I open the box and in it is 2 pieces of sponge on the top and bottom with my writer in between..OPENED no box. I ordered NEW and received an open box.I called but 3 times was on hold for oven an hour each time. The 4th time waited until someone answered YES over an hour again I finally spoke to a CS agent and I got the runaround they wanted to send me a shipping invoice have me print it make arrangements for shipping back and once they receive it then they would reship a new one.Like I was not delayed enough. This did not work for me considering my time was worth way more than the aprox $20.00 REFUND I was looking for.But a no go they would not do anything else. They finaly budeg and offered me the discount on my next order...As if there was going to be another order.Funny considering I have spent between the Canadian and US tigerdirect over $2000.00 in the last 2 to 3 years.I guess my buisness is not worth $20.00. I have no problem giving someone else my $$$$.I hung up with a very bad taste in my mouth I do not like BEING RIPPED OFF.I called back today and yet again over an hour until someone answered.I did not want to speak to the CS agent and demanded the manager.I gave him the same story and NO GO.I said how can I speak to someone higher that can give me the REFUND. He says he is the Canadian Sales Manager and this is the highest.Funny i spoke with the Sales Manager of Canada 2 months ago and his name was Mick not Justin?? I mentioned then to him that I would try and take this furter and I am looking and figured this was a good way to start.DO NOT SHOP TIGER DIRECT...They will eventually RIP YOU OFF
THANKS

Ordered the video card, shipped in about 2 days, showed up 2 days later, works perfectly. I've heard a lot of criticism about Tigerdirect, and I'm curious if it's the .com variant (their US store) that's different then the .ca store.

I've dealt with Tigerdirect.ca on numerous ocassions and been pretty happy every time. My only gripe is that they use UPS for shipping, I hate UPS, they ring the bell and run, or don't stay long which isn't cool.

Lesson: Don't base your experience or intent to purchsae solely on the words of resellerratings.com's users, after all the happy people don't usually post :).

When it came time to order all the parts for the new PC I was building, it was a choice between tigerdirect.ca and ncix.com. Based on reseller ratings, at the time tigerdirect.ca had a rating of < 2, while the ncix was at 9.4! So even though my total order cost a little more at ncix I chose them. However, I ordered a refurb video capture device from tigerdirect. The ncix order became a 3-4 week nightmare, while the tigerdirect refurb part was shipped the same day, and arrived in great condition. A couple of weeks later I had to order more accessories (modem, parallel port, etc) so I ordered from tigerdirect. Once again, the order shipped on the same day and all parts were working. I've read reports that a lot of people have had bad experiences with tigerdirect. Maybe I've just been lucky, but these two orders were handled perfectly for me.

I ordered a Omni Directional 6db 2.4GHz Antenna w/TNC Adapter, Hyundai L90D+ 19" 1280x1024 Slv/Blk DVI LCD, Connect 3D Radeon X850XT Platinum 256MB PCIe from TigerDirect.ca during my allocation of parts for a new computer. They had excellent prices on the purchased items, but not so great on other products. The order took a while to get processed, however it when it was finally sent out of the warehouse, shipping was fairly quick. All products were received over the course of 2 days in perfect working order. The antenna was listed with a rebate of $22.50 USD, but when I looked at the rebate information, they had simply listed the same rebate twice, so I only ended up receiving a rebeate of $12.50. My overall shopping experience was good, but I was dissappointed that they mislisted the rebate. For monitors and graphics cards, I highly recommend this dealer.

I have made several expensive orders with tigerdirect.ca in the past, and have been very satisfied with the products I have recieved.

Their prices on some things are excellent, others are average, I buy from many different sites.

My items have always arrived quickly and without incident, and i would not hesitate to do business with them again.

My only complaint is that sometimes shipping charges can be over the top for small items. So it is best to order everything possible in one order.

I have ordered at least 20 times from TigerDirect.ca, mostly computer parts. Each time the products arrived on time and with no problems. Some items where backordered but arrived within a month.

Their prices aren't always the best so you have to compare as usual, but overall they have been excellent to deal with.

I ordered from tigerdirect.ca for my first time on August the 4th. I was paying with paypal. They made a mistake and made paypal made a double payment. I was OK with this mistake, and after waiting for half an hour on hold they said the second payment would be refunded when it was received.

They "shipped" my warranty on the 13th, which was really an e-mail confirmation saying my warranty started on that date. Also, I realized I did not get my refund yet, so I called and waited for 45 minutes on hold and finally got to speak with a rep.. They then told me I needed to get in contact with the credit office person, since they don't have access to that database. I was asked to be transferred and was cut off. So I waited for a call back (since he had my phone #) but didn't get one. I called them back and waited this time for an HOUR to speak to a person to transfer me to this credit lady. I was transferred and got her voice mail, I went to leave a message, but it said the mail box was full! This is after a total of 2 hours of waiting and talking, I finally get this ladies extension and I find out her box is full. So I called back the next day and punched in her extension to find out it was invalid. SO I HAD TO WAIT again on hold to get this persons correct #, and not to just be transferred. I got her correct extension and finally got to her again, I left a message this time and gave my phone number. I waited 3 days and wasn't called back. So I sent them an e-mail, and FINALLY received my refund for the double payment mistake they made for 270 dollars on the 24th.

Now, since their warehouse computer system was being updated my shipment was really delayed. It was shipped on the 13th, when I made my order on the 4th. I received it on the 22nd, know why? They shipped it to the wrong city!!! So I called them and they said they would call UPS. I waited 3 more days, and was told I never called 3 days earlier! So I called UPS, and they fixed it for me and got it to me as quickly as they could.

I was told for this mess I could get a refund on my shipping, so I called, and waited and waited, and finally was told I was going to get a refund in 3 to 4 business days. It is now September 3rd and I haven't received it, and I have sent them 2 e-mails about it, which have yet to be replied to.

I am NEVER going to buy from them, EVER!

I read these bad reviews and thought they couldn't be true, since they were SO bad, but, they are, every single one of them. DO NOT buy from them, it is possible you could get lucky and have no problems, but if you need to contact them about something, GOOD LUCK!

I ordered an INOi/Lasonic HV-670 DVD player with MPEG-4 (DixX/Xvid) capability from Tigerdirect.ca

At the time of purchase, their website pictured, and mentioned the mounting tray for an external Hard Drive, and gave every indiation that the unit came with said accessory. This tray is an accessory that this unit ships with by default when ordered every other online seller I can find. I had no reason to believe otherwise.

I placed my order and everything seemed fine.

The order was placed on a Sunday.

Tuesday night I recieved a message from a Third Party rep.(The Drop Shipper), Stating that the unit did not come with that Hard Drive tray, that it was an error on the part of Tigerdirect.ca, and inquiring whether or not I wanted to proceed with my order. I told them that I would have to speak to Tigerdirect, and let them know.

I proceeded to call Tigerdirect.ca on Wednesday, and spoke with a rep named Ravi. He informed me that they had an explicit policy that stated that they weren't liable for errors on their website, but that he would contact the shipper, get to the bottom of the matter, and call me back the next day (Thursday). Thursday passed, with no word from Ravi. On Friday, around 2 pm, there was still no word, so I called back and spoke to Ravi once again. He used the excuse that he hadn't yet heard back from the shipper, (Ignoring that he had promised to call me on Thursday, no matter what), and proceeded to promised to call me Friday afternoon with an update, no matter what. He never called.

On Saturday, I called and asked for Ravi's supervisor. I was put through to the voicemail of Mario Lim. I asked Mr. Lim to call me back asap.

Sunday, nothing.

Monday, nothing.
Monday afternoon, I called Tigerdirect once again, and asked for Mario Lim. I was told he was in a meeting, then that he was at lunch, and asked whether I would like him voice mail. I left another request to be called back. I got no response.

Tuesday c ame and I was fed up! I called again, asked for Mario, was told he was in a meeting. I asked for Mario's Boss, was told to contact a Mr. Andrew Clarke (Memory is a little fuzzy on this name). I left a very polite, but irate message for both, stating that I expected to be contacted by the end of the business day.

Around 2pm, Mario LIm FINALLY called me back, re-iterated their policy of indemnity for errors, and said he'd find out for me what was going on. Around 5pm he called me back, stating that there was nothing they could do to get me what I had ordered with the accessories I had expected to recieve.

I cancelled my order.

About 5 minutes later Andrew Clarke called me back. I explained my situation. He appologized, but didn't fix things.

What irks me the most is not that I didn't get what I ordered, but that they outright lied to me, stating that they would return my calls, but never did.

Regardless of their policy of indemnity for errors, I feel like this was a classic case of bait-and-switch. If the shipper hadn't have contacted me, I would have recieved my product, the wrong product, without a peep from Tigerdirect.

Shortly after my order was placed, they clearly noted on their site that the unit didn't include the accessory in question... But that didn't help me at all.

I will NEVER buy from these rip-off artists again.

Previous purchases with them were OK, except some of the rebates were really hard to get through.

This time I ordered a Fujifilm S5100. It was shown as a Canadian model with xxx-CA part number when I ordered from this web site. But they shipped the camera from US, when I received it, it is a US model with USA only warranty, which I confirmed with Fuji Canada that they won't honor it in Canada. Called them the 2nd day, waited 30 miniutes and spoke with a representative. He then said he would speak with his manager and call me "right back". 2 days passed, no call. I called again and waited again and spoke with another representative. He tried to convince me that when the camera indeed need service, call hime again and he would take care of it. I couldn't accept this and he transferred to his manager. The call was not answered and I let a message. No call back.

I also wrote 2 e-mails to the "support", but the reply was to "call within next 24 hours". I don't know what to do now.

I will never buy from them again. Hope others will be careful when purchasing any big item from them.
