I have been happy with play-asia for more than a year. They ship games between 7 and 9 business. That means you will get games in just 2 weeks. I never had any problems with my transactions with them until now. I never wanted to resort to this because everybody makes mistakes. However, my recent transaction with them is simply something that I cannot let pass.
I ordered 2 games from them amounting to $54.80. They shipped the game on the 3rd of July 2009. It's now the 8th of August and I still haven't received them. What's worse the last email I received from them was canned message. I sent them an email gently pressing my frustration about the problem and what I got was a canned message? I never really thought of writing a negative review because I wanted to give them a chance to make things right. However, disregarding the feelings of a frustrated customer is one of the few things I can't bear.
This disheartens me and scares me to place another order on their site. I respected play-asia, and I want that respect to remain. But I was left with no choice. I will give them another chance if they come up with a sure resolution to my problem. For now, however, I am really disappointed.
UPDATE: After I sent a message and sent this review Play-asia gladly gave me full store credit. Now I will review them again when I receive my new orders. I will let you guys know if there's any improvement. This review was modified by its author, VsAssassin, on

I’m sure most of you had heard about Play-Asia (my ad banner) by now. They are one of the popular online toys and games merchant at Hong Kong. I buy quite a lot of trading figures, plush dolls, solar gadgets and PC games in the past. And so I decided to leave my review on Play-Asia.com at Resellerrating.com.
For your information, Play-Asia did indeed monitor the feedbacks every week from the customers. I have to say, this is a good moves for the company as I believe there are chances that many unhappy buyers will encounter problems with them. I, myself also experience such problem two years ago and I am still pissed off with the expensive crap figure I got over there.
I have been buying from Play-Asia.com for many years now. They send me free coupon every end of the years (December) and also now offering free shipping to my country. I am really pleased with the purchase and refund. But there are always flaws on them that never change until now.
There are plenty of reasons why I complete stop buying toys from them except only PC games and others budgets stuff I might find. I decided to state at least three here.
Firstly, customer’s services that always puts me away from them. I simply dislike the way how they handle the delivery for my orders very fast without confirming the customers if there are changes or cancels require to be done before they send. I experience once for the order I made mistake ordering
and cancellation is totally very hard.
Not to mention they don't read my mail and delay after my goods deliver than they respond my mail. It was a complete disaster service I ever had in my life.
Secondly, pre-ordering were charge when it says it won't. Besides, it happens a few times whenever I place my pre-order, it gets charge the next day and I was totally puzzled.
It was completely a shameless thing to do and lies to the customers. Yes, I know they do refunds but the question is why they charge us in the first place?
Thirdly, the figures and some items I discover are way too expensive compared to the Japanese store. This is why I decided to run away from them. The free coupons I received can't really convince me much to buy from Play-Asia sometimes so they really need to do some changes.

I switched from YesAsia to Play-Asia early in the year because they are cheaper in price and can use coupons.
From January to the end of April I've placed 5 orders, all involved pre-orders.
For all pre-orders, I placed the order and paid via PayPal at least 2 weeks before the release date.
However, out of these 5 pre-orders, they delayed the shipment of 2 of them.
The first time was in March, they told me on the release date that they had to split my shipment because my pre-order item is not in stock. I emailed them to ask why, thinking that they might not have received the item on their side. However, their answer shocked me:
"I am sorry that this item is not in a high demand and thus rather difficult to find the source. You would probably need to wait for 1-2 weeks more for us to get the item and we kindly ask for your patience."
I think this is unacceptable because the CD I pre-ordered actually ranked 3rd place in ORICON for the release date so there's no reason for not being in high demand. Most of all, Play-Asia's duty, after receiving my payment, should be to "place" a pre-order rather than to "source" it after its release. But this was the first time theny delayed my order then, so I bore with them at that time.
The item was subsequently shipped one week later.
For the second time they delayed my pre-order, I placed the order and paid via PayPal on April 30 for an album to be released on May 13.
On May 13, they splitted my order and once again told me that my pre-order item was not yet in stock. So once again I wrote to them asking for a reason, again thinking that they either has not received the item on their side, or they had difficulty sourcing it.
Play-Asia's answer, 5 days after the release, once again shocked me:
"We have just informed by our supplier that the item is no longer available. We have tried to source the item from other means, however, we could not get sufficient stock to allocate to all the pre-order customer. Thus, we have cancelled your order. Would you like to change to other item or have the payment refund to your paypal account?"
Now this time they don't have enough copies for all customers. Why didn't they place an order of "sufficient copies" in the first place?
They didn't even offer me a reason on the release date, but only replied and cancelled my order after I wrote them.
I have paid for the pre-order so that Play-Asia couls pre-order for me, and for the second time they said they didn't or couldn't pre-order for me.
I wonder why YesAsia and CDJapan can even have extra copies in stock, while Play-Asia failed to even have enough copies for all pre-order customers.
In the end, they refunded via PayPal upon my reply. And I ordered from YesAsia nearly one week after the release date and they shipped it right after my payment.
So this is my 5-month Play-Asia trial. And in the end, sadly, I had to switch back to YesAsia.
Play-Asia is very attractive in price, but in terms of customer service and meeting with shipment date, they failed tremendously.
Maybe some other customers may not agree with me, but I usually pre-order with these sites.
I have read a few reviews here, some customers also have problems with Play-Asia such as the speed they ship and pre-ordering.
So to conclude, I will never recommend Play-Asia for anyone who would like to place pre-orders. This review was modified by its author, akatsukikyou, on

I had pre-ordered the Blu-Ray version of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete (With the FFXIII Trial) just over a month ago.
I had then received an email saying the item was shipped on April 17th, and I also had my credit card charged for it. I was told that it would take up to 14 days to arrive, and on very rare circumstances up to 4-5 weeks.
It is now May 13th, almost at the end of the 4th week...and still nothing. I'm writing this review just to let people know that it can take longer than expected to arrive, and I will be updating it next week if I receive my item by the end of week 5 or not.
I have emailed Play-Asia asking why it was taking soo long, but have yet to get a reply from them. I'm not sure why it is taking so long, as I have ordered a few other games from various other distributors around Hong Kong AFTER I got the confirmation email saying my item from them was shipped...all of the other items I ordered from other people have already arrived.
Hopefully this is an isolated incident, and I will still continue to shop from Play-Asia.
I will update once I get a reply from them, and once my item finally arrives.
EDIT: I have recieved an email back from them. They have switched my status from shipped April 17th to Lost Parcel Inquiry. They are currently offering me an in store credit for the amount paid, or to resend the item out to me.
UPDATE:
I'm very impressed with the way Play-Asia has handled this situation. They have sent out a replacement for my Blu-Ray already (within 3 hours of me emailing them) and have upgraded the shipping for free so that it gets here faster. I will definitely recommend them to friends and family, and I will continue to purchase from them in the future. This review was modified by its author, Legend of Myth, on

I placed an order for this popular 'High School Of The Dead Non Scale Pre-Painted PVC Figure: Busujima Saeko' back in early December (a full 2 months before it was released) and it was not until recently that play-asia has informed me via e-mail that the order was cancelled because it was sold out. I am angry because of a few reasons. First of all it originally said on the site it will be released in February. February comes and goes then it got delayed till March (on the site it said March 2009 release) then it got delayed till April then comes middle of April they cancelled my order. Whatever you read on their site about your order is generally confirmed if you preorder is NOT AT ALL accurate. I'm really mad because had they been more forthcoming with their supplies (or in this case lack of) issue, I could have ordered from another company but because they stalled so long I can no longer buy from other companies because they became out of stock already. This is unacceptable because if they didn't have stock they could've told me back in early February (it was released by other companies already at that time) instead of stalling till 2 weeks ago to tell me sorry we've cancelled your order. Now I cannot buy this item anymore thanks to all the stalling. I read some of the other customers' review about problems with preorders so if you guys have any doubt as to my situation just read other reviews. Your preorder guarantee is MEANINGLESS. Now I'm going to have to order with another company and theres a good chance that it is too late for me to get this item. :(
I have decided to place my order with another company at the moment seeing how stock replenishing from them in the near future seems unlikely. This review was modified by its author, Iluvgillian, on

Update2: Products arrived, everything was in order, atleast they did this right.
Update: Actually I'm will waiting for my merchandise, for some silly reason it took them over a week just to ship it out of their office, a game that just came out that's not in stock at their warehouse? Give me a break. Also by some grace of god the the limited editions I got cheated out of a now in stock, how fitting after they ship the regualar editions, now I have to spend $200 more dollars just to get what I orignally ordered. Screw you play-asia, I take back every good thing I said about you.
Play-asia is a good place to buy games, however when it comes to pre-orders things can get a little crazy.
Ok here's the story, so I pre-ordered two limited edition games about 2 months in advance to ensure my copy. One was set to be realeased at the end of February and the other was set to be realeased at the beginning of April, April 2nd to be exact. So anyway when March 29th rolls around I get a letter from play-asia saying "payment failure" and they said the bank declined it due to "insufficient funds" and I think that's weird, so I check the bank and I see I have $7 under the amount they we're going to charge. It's kind of odd they we're charging 4 days before the release day, but maybe there was pre-stock or something.
Sounds like my problems so far right? Here's where things get fishy, so I message play-asia's support and ask if they can hold it till the 3rd because that's when I get paid. They agree and they said they "froze" my order and told me to message them when I was ready to pay. Anyway when March 2nd rolls around, ironicly enough a couple hours before I get paid, I get a message saying my order was canceled, so I message support about this and they give me the run around about how it's out of stock, my fault, I'm stupid, etc. It probably sounds like the banks problem or my fault for not having the money, but the real problem here is they said my order was frozen and they would hold it for me but instead they forcibly cancelled my order sold it behind my back.
Pre-orders may always be unrelieable but do you really have to add a whole new level of uncertainty to them?
This order I had to place to get the goods I was already going to pay for only in regular edition.
(For reference the original order number was 14287642)
Thanks for cheating me out of my limited editions play-asia. This review was modified by its author, whocares1324, on

Put an order on a discounted item on Feb 28th (Saturday) and was shipped out on March 2nd. I got the item around the middle of March (around the 13th or the week of the 16th) and I was totally pleased with the quickness the item came, usually items coming from Hong Kong, S. Korea or Japan take over a month, I highly recommend Play-Asia, regardless of what shipping method you pick.

Very quick. I ordered a joystick, Hori Real Arcade ProEX on a Saturday and it was already here in Chicago on Wednesday. That's pretty cool considering that they ship from Hong Kong. Pleased with how quickly everything was processed. One suggestion for them is consider more packaging for joysticks. The manufacturers box seemed a little damage prone. Look forward to purchasing again with them.

This was my first time ordering from play-asia.com and the only problem I had was my bank initaly declining the charge because they wanted to make sure I was making the purchase.
The game was exactly as described on the site and included every thing mentioned.I payed for UPS shipping and it only took two days to get to Texas.

It's been over a month and I have NOT received the game that I ordered but I have ALREADY BEEN CHARGED for the game. The game supposedly shipped on 12/19/08. Contacted play-asia in early Jan and was told to wait a few more days for the game to arrive. I still did not receive the game by 1/12/09 so I contacted play-asia, asking for detailed shipping info. They were not able to provide me any info and they gave me the run around (e.g. asking to verify the zip code of my address, etc). After reading other reviews on this site where other customers were CHARGED for their order but DID NOT RECEIVE their order (refer to posting from "grapixs" on 3/4/08 3:17 PM, "dougmoen" on 12/3/08 11:45 PM), I immediately contacted my credit card company to fight this charge. Do NOT EVER buy from play-asia.com!!! It's a SCAM!!!
Update: Play-asia.com, after seeing this review here, has notified me that they have shipped a replacement game. I will provide another update once I receive the game. This review was modified by its author, GoHanAda, on

I live in Indonesia & made Play-Asia.com order #10114994 with total value US$ 91.80, shipped on Mar 19, 2008
Order arrived damaged so I claim them,
on April 15, 2008 Play-Asia (Bryan) write to me:
No worry, we could refund the product value and shipment cost once received your returning.
If you accept this offer, please return the faulty item for exchange to

On April 19, 2008 I shipped back this order by EMS EE126068246ID and it arrived at Play-Asia on April 22, 2008
http://ems.posindonesia.co.id/index.php?param=inq
On July 3, 2008 they emailed:
Sorry for the delay reply. We regret that we can only compensate 10.00USD store credit for this case. Please feel to provide us one of the coupon
code to add the compensated store credit for your next purchase.
I lost my temper and demand them to keep their words (I mean, how can they only offer USD 10 comparing to order value US$ 91.80 + returning shipping cost)
But I still haven't received my refund or replacement untill now, Play-Asia also never reply my emails since then.

I ordered quite a bit of items from Play-Asia and I am very satisfied with their service and products. A few of the items (which I knew when I ordered) were out of stock so they decided to ship it partially without any additional charge. I sent a message wondering when the other items will be in stock and they replied really fast and prompt with their answer. For the delivery option, I chose air economy box (which is the slowest) took exactly 2 weeks to arrive which is within the estimated times. So far I am still waiting for my other packages to come but am confident they will fulfill.
