DO NOT SHOP SHARK SYSTEMS! After 20 years of online shopping and over $45 thousand dollars spent personally and $120k spent professionally I can say this has been the worst experience of my online shopping experience. Shark Systems could not describe the laptop up front so sent me to manufacturers web site, laptop took 4 days to ship and 9 more days to arrive, it arrived in a damaged box that poorly protected the product package and the product package was thus damaged,(laptop seemed fine) product did not match manufacturers web site, or photos on Shark Systems. Jake at Shark Systems refused to allow me to return it saying any opened box is not returnable. Then shark systems stopped returning my emails or calls for over a week. Then only after I had VISA put a payment hold on the purchase Shark issued an RMA and would take it back with 15% restock fee, now I am out over $250 and three weeks of time. Jake is the owner, sales rep, and shipping clerk. There is a phone service and another person in the loop that I was in touch with only once. Shark Systems is a reseller just as this rating site points out. I used the ratings on ResellerRatings because unlike most other sites they have protections in place to keep fake posts from pumping up a site. Many of the other sites I was not so confident that everything was valid. To ship the wrong product and then charge a restocking fee is not allowed via the Visa contracts and the shark systems terms and conditions. I am still trying to get all of my funds back. When I shipped the laptop back UPS informed me that the address was not a business but a residence. I asked them to double check and they continued to affirm this. STAY AWAY AND SHOP WITH A BETTER COMPANY!
I have been contacted by a laywer representing SharkSystems concerning this post. SharkSystems still has not contacted me directly.

In this situation the customer was not satisfied with the product because the keyboard was Canadian English as opposed to US English. The customer felt the omission of this information from our product description amounted to a purposeful misrepresentation of the item.
As we carry over 20,000 unique products for sale we must rely on the manufacturer of the items to provide us with product descriptions and photography. In some cases, small differences may be present including regional differences. For example, North American power type or Canadian style keyboards are not often included in descriptions because they are assumed properties of items sold in Canada.
Shark Systems will provide specification of any products that are available; however, in some cases we will refer you to the manufacturer, as they are best equipped to accurately answer specific enquiries.
Shark Systems return policy, in short, is as follows (our full return policy can be found at www.shopsharksystems.com under "terms and conditions"):
WITHIN 30 DAYS:
(if the item is not defective):
- Unopened Box: Full Refund for the cost of the item(s)
- Opened Box: Full Refund for the cost of the item(s) minus 15% restocking fee*
(if the item is defective):
- We will repair or replace the item
*The restocking fee may be waived on a case by case basis (IE: We shipped the wrong product to you in error in this extremely rare situation you will also be refunded the cost of shipping)
AFTER 30 DAYS:
- Repair or Replacement at Shark Systems Option (non-defective items may not be returned after 30 days)
We are committed to customer satisfaction and feel the above policy strikes a good balance between fairness to our end user while maintaining low overhead costs which in turn keeps our prices low for our customers.
While we do not generally comment on specific disputes with customers in public, we are compelled to do so in this case in order to respond to the post in this review. The customer shipped the opened laptop back to us for a refund less the 15% restocking fee. This negative review implies the products description was misrepresentedit was not. We have offered to waive the restocking fee in exchange for having this review removed from ResellerRatings.com but our several calls and e-mails have gone unanswered. We are happy to report overwhelming customer satisfaction as evidenced by our reviews on this and other sites as well as our strong base of satisfied repeat customers. We always look forward to resolving any issue a customer may have to their complete satisfaction. |

Had a good price and liked that it was easy to find shipping cost. You weren't the lowest cost, but the ease and integral feel of the site made me feel more confident purchasing here than elsewhere.
For future would like to have photo, why refurbished, review options.

Unfortunately we must verify the billing address for orders shipping outside of Canada or the United States to protect ourselves and our customers from fraud. This process may sometimes take 5+ business days.
We do notify all international customers of this process as soon as their order is received along with providing alternate means of verifying their address. There may have been a communication breakdown in this case as the customer did not respond to e-mails requesting address verification.

Need better indicator of item quantity. 1 day delay, not cool.
Also haven't received refund to PayPal account yet.
Update: Customer Service was very courteous and helpful. Only thing I'm waiting on is PayPal refunds, which is not the fault of Shark Sys.

1) during checkout, a warning is displayed if the item is not in stock
2) you may wish to take advantage of the "real time stock checker" on the product page to confirm availability, especially low stock items |

Overall a satisfactory experience. The following comments aren't intended to slam Shark, but reflect some relatively minor issues I ran into. Shark is in Canada, and I live in the US, so a couple of the issues relate to this.
1. The original "estimate" for shipping prior to checkout was $17.62 (CPC Expedited US Commercial). The actual amount was $46.74 for the same shipping method. I think the estimating process needs some work.
2. My only choice for shipping was CPC with an 8 to 15 day delivery. In order to use or FedEx, I had to provide my own account number, which I don't have. I would have liked a quicker option. My order took 14 days to get delivered (12 days after being shipped).
3. The order indicated that customs fees and/or duties may be added, but Shark couldn't provide me with any idea of what those fees might be.
4. The tracking number emailed to me when the order shipped was wrong. This only became apparent after the item for that number was delivered to Ohio (I live in California).

Speedy deilvery where I received my shipment on the 4th business day with product in working condition.
Only hitch was an incorrect tracking number provided by the order confirmation. In my case, I didn't bother contacting customer service although the issue probably could've been fixed with an e-mail.

This online retailer is very prompt. I received the confirmation email very soon, even though at last I didn't finish the payment (forgeting updating the credit card information on Paypal). I've experienced the other online store's bad service, so I kind of like sharksys.com's style. Thumbs-up

Their price was competitive. The speed of delivery was excellent: under 24 hours from order to delivery. They performed exactly as they promised. I would not hesitate to do business with them in the future.

Excellent! Product arrived as described in two days. No hidden costs or hassles. Product was exactly as described on the web site and the whole process was exactly as it should be.

Jake was great to deal with. The monitor I wanted wasn't in stock (it's a new model) but the price was so good I decided to wait. Jake answered all my questions quickly and politely. When the monitor shipped it was packaged very well. Jake didn't just slap a shipping sticker on the monitor box, he actually packed it in a bigger box for safer shipping! The shipping price was excellent as well; some companies expected over $100 for ground shipping on the same monitor while Shark Systems only charged $14 for ground, or $24 for air shipping! I'll gladly shop at Shark Systems again.
