This is a BAIT/SWITCH scam.  
They get you to order a name brand item at a low price and then send you a non-name brand item at an inflated price.  
I have no idea how they sleep at night knowing that they rip people off for a living!

DISGUSTING business practices. I ordered a replacement Canon battery charger 2 days ago. This morning, I was contacted via email claiming there was a problem with my order and they had "unsuccessfully" tried to contact me by phone. They did not try to contact me by phone. I called the number in the email and spoke to their customer service agent who told me that the charger I ordered was "seriously back ordered" but they were going to go ahead a send me out a "better" rapid charger instead. I asked if it was made by Canon. "Its made by Canon's manufacturer" he replied. What does that mean? I asked. He tells me a story about how, when these things are back ordered, they get even BETTER products to replace them. I ask to see the product they're offering me instead on their site. He directs me to the charger. It's listed as $99.00, but they're going to send it to me for the same price I paid for my Canon charger ($28 + shipping). I reluctantly agree. After I get off the phone, I search for the product they're sending, off the NWV site. I find the same charger on Amazon, BEING SOLD BY NVW FOR $13 NEW. THE SAME CHARGER. $20 less than what I paid for the Canon! Sold by the same vendor! UNBELIEVABLE. I called back and canceled my order immediately, too angry to even tell them why. Stay away from these scam artists. Totally and completely horrified.

I ordered replacement batteries and an extra charger for my Canon G10, and everything arrived on time and in working condition. This is much better than other retailers I've recently worked with who didn't have items in stock or wouldn't honor the low price. Check resellerratings.com to see which companies are bad. NWV is an honest company that will not scam you -- I'm happy with my purchases from them.

nwvdirect.com is one of the few honest companies. So many just want your money and move on to the next customer. Not the case with NWV Direct. They honestly care about your business now and for the future.

I reviewed both the positive and negative responses. With one who has time to wait and save a buck, I ordered "Panasonic DMW-LT55 55mm 1.7x Telephoto Conversion Lens for Panasonic DMC-FZ7/8/18/28/30/50 Digital Camera". Received email indicating that "I have attempted to contact you at the number you provided, due to an issue with your order." I called, spoke with the contact person and indicated that no-one contacted me. Verified number and rep said must have dialed wrong number. He indicated that product was out of stock. We had a pleasant conversation and he offered an alternative http://www.newworldvideodirect.com/productdetail.asp?productid=2779 as another option (Olympus High Grade 1.7x Teleconverter Lens for Digital Cameras). List price on the site was $269, however, he had preapproval to sell to me for what I was going to purchase the original lens ($160). There was NO pressure to buy and the rep was very nice and said I could talk it over with my wife and call back if interested.

Which was listed for ~$90 which obviously is $70 less than NWV Direct. I have read about bait and switch.... and I would just call this part of doing business and the buyer needs to do their homework.... :) I will now spend the $15 buck more and buy from a more suitable seller... but will check with NWV next time for a deal... do my homework and if it works, great... if not, move on.

It is unbelievable how low this company will go to scam customers. Look at all the positive reviews. They all are posted by brand new members of reseller ratings who have only written one review. It is obvious that this company is just trying to counteract all the REAL negative reviews. Don't even think about shopping here!!! I am a victim of their bait and switch practices as are many others!!

The NWVDirect guys are great! I ordered a new Canon Battery & charger from them late last night (lost mine at a shoot). Their prices were absolutely the best out there. Well, this morning, (of course) I received a call telling me my lost equipment had been found... Oh no, I no longer needed the stuff I'd purchased. I called NDW bracing myself for a big hassle and a lot of wasted time trying to get them to cancel my order. I'd experienced this first hand with Dell over Christmas when I accidentally ordered 2 X-Box Systems from them. It took Dell 8 weeks and many phone calls to rectify. All the time, my money was tied up. If that happened with Dell, I could just imagine what I was in for with these "small guys". Just the opposite was the case. They answered the phone immediately and within a minute's time had cancelled my order and actually thanked me for "almost" doing business with them! Though I didn't order this time, I certainly will be from now on! Thanks NDW!!

Great business and prices. I looked all over for the Olympus 1.7x Tele-Converter Lens this site had the greatest deal. My order came in exactly when they told me it would and in great condition. I've ordered from many other sites online and this is by far one of the better purchases I have made. I look forward to buying from them again!

I can't express how disappointed I am in the business techniques of this company - it does appear to be somewhat of a 'bait and switch'. The one good thing I can say is that they are honest about canceling your order and not charging you for your 'backordered' product. I just tried to order the Canon CB-2LV Charger for Canon NB-4L Lithium-Ion Battery  
this week, March 2009, and was met, once again, with disappointment. This is the 2nd time I have tried to order this product from this company (you can see I gave them the benefit of the doubt the 1st time). The 1st time, about 8 months ago, they called to tell me the items was on an indefinate backorder (same as this time) and wanted to sell me a substitue $90 charger instead and I declined. This time they did not offer any other items but got a bit cold to me when I expressed my disappointment with this item STILL being on their website yet STILL on apparent 'Permanent" backorder. I do believe this is a scam. If you want to be a legitimate company with great reviews, just remove the items off your website that you KNOW are not currently available or list them as 'on backorder'. Also, the way the item's availability is listed "stock - usually ships in 1-2 business days" is very misleading - Is this purposly misleading? I think the answer is YES ... particularly after all the reviews I have read today from other people on this same issue. I wish companies could just be straight forward and direct about what they are selling. Too bad business has resorted to these type of tactis.
