After receiving the same bait and switch spiel (and falling for it) I got suspicious and started looking online for reviews. After finding this site, I decided I was uncomfortable with the transaction and called to cancel the order about 30 minutes later. I was lied to (the rep said the order had already left the warehouse, it hadn't) and the rep (Tim) was INCREDIBLY rude to me. He hung up on me once. My husband called him back, and the rep refused to talk to him. We started going thru the same lies as before. When I asked him not to interrupt me, he said that I was being rude and "deserved to be interrupted." It took getting my husband on the phone to get it worked out - I was too angry by that point. We ended up getting the order cancelled, but the customer service was so appalling that I have no qualms about leaving a bad review. I will never purchase from this company and urge you all to find your products somewhere else.

Mark S. cLLed me to trick me into ordering something eLse. because I ordered the ac adapter for a panasonic Lumix dmw-ac5... I cLLed him back.. he said they were 0n back0rder... he cLLed 2 tLL me he c0uLd send me s0mething that iz c0mpatibLe t0 it. I received da b0x but I didn't 0pen it because it was different m0deL and L0oked it up 0nLine.. it was s0mething different.. he pushed for me t0 get it and aLs0 they were charging me da same price $49.00.. and when I saw it 0n there website it was $10 cheaper... it was $39.. that's the reas0n I returned it back to www.nwvdirect.com 0r back t0 sender. and they w0uLd NOT give me and adjustment... thinkin b0ut it they suck!!! I d0nt kn0w if I w0uLd 0rder s0mething 4rm them. and I d0nt think any0ne w0uLd read my review. I tried nwvdirect.com cause the price seemed reas0nabLe @ $49 pLus shipping $5.50.. I have e-maiLed them Like 5 0r m0re times t0 find 0ut if they have it st0ck. but haven't received any inf0rmati0n b0ut it being in-st0ck.

Don't waste your time dealing with these people. I ordered a Canon CG-580 battery charger from them and got the bait and switch. They pushed a Vivitar as the Canon one was on backorder for 6-8 weeks as it was being redesigned for safety reasons. I'm pretty sure that was complete B.S. Luckily, I checked here before I ordered and expected this to happen. The price was good enough that I decided to give it a shot. Wont' be doing that again. They did cancel my order and I will now be ordering from B&H.

Do not use this company - they use dishonest sales techniques and then ask for restocking fees after using a bait and switch tactic to send you what you don't want. Check out PhotographyReview.com to see how many other customers are experiencing the exact same thing - BEWARE and AVOID. Time to call the BBB and Attorney General of NY.

I ordered Sony F36am flash. They called and told me that it was backordered by Sony. They tried to switch me to a Vivitar flash. I don't like the way they do business. Bait and switch.

First of all let me say that in a diminishing customer service industry you wonder what is next with poor customer support. With NWV we have reached horrible. Not only did they not have the part I wanted and ordered, they called me and sold me on a different part. When it arrived and did not work the return policy was not as advertised and on three calls to the support desk I was met with rude and condescending rep's that are in serious need of training. Fortunately, I was able to get in touch with the manufacturer and they met my needs, otherwise I would have been stuck with an expensive paperweight. In today's marketplace when their are so many places to choose from for your support and purchasing needs we all should be glad we have the internet to spread this sort of information so that others know what and who they are about to do business with.

I ordered a Canon BP-800 series charger on Sunday. Monday I received a call from a strange number on my cell phone. When I checked my messages it Was NWVD calling to tell me there was a problem with my order. On Tuesday I received an e-mail that said the same thing, there was a problem with my order. Smelling a scam I proceeded to search the internet to find out more about this company. I read some real horror stories about the scam operation this company runs. Basically it's a bait and switch where you intend to buy one thing but they call you and tell you that item is out of stock and try to sell you some no-name, cheap brand or version of the item you originally purchased.
I wrote the company back and told them to cancel my order. If you buy from this company BEWARE they are running a scam operation.

I had just placed an order with them. They called me to tell me it was out of stock, and back ordered 8 weeks (ironically, everyone else has it in stock). They told me the version everyone else had was inferior, since it didn't have the "special chip." (odd, Nikon doesn't even mention ANY of their BATTERIES having a special chip -- and the product #s match). They agreed to give me an aftermarket product for 130% of the cost. When I questioned it, they agreed to "match the OEM price." How kind of you, since Amazon has the aftermarket one for about 25% of the cost. Canceled the order. Someone needs to go after these guys.

please call them and order, dont order from their web-site, i order a canon flash which is still available on their site for purchase but they called me and tell me its back order and it will come after six week. i keep price low and after they call and try to sell different product, so i think dont trust on their web site price if you think its a good price call them and order, not a good experience buying from this site

Recently I purchased a Professional Optics Ultra compact 2x converter lens from NWV Direct. After running a test on it I determined that it was obviously defective or just an inferior product and requested a RMA to return it. I was informed by return e-mail that I would have to deal directly with the manufacturer since NWV Direct would not accept returns on lenses. Funny enough I had the exact same experience of so many other reviewers. Check out the review from "Davetery".
100% bait and switch! I wanted the Panasonic lens and wow! Theses guys were the only ones out on the net that had it in stock. Bought it via paypal with overnight shipping.
Got a call the next AM...wait.......wait....it was out of stock :) But...just cuz I really wanted a lens...... the salesbag told me they would sell me a MUCH nicer lens for a discount... Wow! What a deal! I fell for it :(
Sure I got an OK lens. Paid about twice what it was worth..I was hooked in then lied to.
Bait and switch, bad business!

Website said in stock. I got a call the next day saying it was nationally backordered for 2 months. Then they tried to sell me a no-name flash for more money. This company is a joke, wasted my time.

I ordered a Panasonic lens adapter and lens from this company. I received A call from them this morning telling me the lens I ordered was on backorder andf would not be available for 6 weeks. I was then told I should buy a different lens which was what everyone was going to. This is typical of companies who offer very low prices to get you to order the product and then try to sell you a much more expensive item, or additional items at inflated prices. Beware of "bait and switch" merchants. I am sure inexperienced customers are suckered every day. It took me only one time to learn to cancel the order as soon as I began hearing the spiel. Hopefully this helps someone else avoid the trap.

Placed an order for a Canon CB-2LW batter charger and a NB-2LH battery yesterday. Then I read some of the reviews on here and other websites from people who purchased similar items and were "bait and switched".
Lo and behold, just now I received a call and email from them saying my order "required attention". I returned the call to hear exactly what I was expecting, the item was "out of stock". NWV: Why do you list so many items on your website that are "out of stock"? Why not just put in red letters on the item's page "Out Of Stock"? Are your inventory tracking practices really that bad? I seriously doubt you ever had any intention of supplying this product to anyone.
Upon hearing it wasn't available, I asked the rep on the phone if he'd be "offering me a cheap non-name-brand alternative," to which he quickly and carefully (I assume to prevent me from claiming bait and switch) replied that no, the order is cancelled and my card was never charged.
Bottom line:
Avoid this company.

*My Advice: STAY AWAY!
My experience was HUGELY NEGATIVE - this was a waste of time!
I called and the rep told me it was back ordered for 8 to 12 weeks. I then asked him if there was any guarantee I would get the order in 8 - 12 weeks if I waited. He responded by saying, "Well it looks like this item has some distortion issues and that is why it is back ordered." I was like seriously? That response doesn't even mean anything. What are they going to do fix the distortion issue on a product made by another company??? Makes no sense. My advice (*based on my experience): STAY AWAY!

Update: Literally 10 seconds after I left this review someone from the company called me hassling me about the way my review was worded. Saying, "You were not Bait and Switched, we did not offer you another product when we called you." No but I did waste 2 hours of my day trying to find the lowest price and placing my order on your site only to be called and told it was back ordered. Back ordered? Canon doesn't even make this lens anymore! pffft. The guy was nice I will give him that but wasting my time and bothering me at home is totally unacceptable and a horrible way to do business.
He also told me he would make sure the item was taken down soon and that they would write please call about the item instead of having available for purchase. We will see... I will update on that in a couple weeks. This review was modified by its author, shotpull, on
