I was extremely disappointed by my experience with ButterFly Photo. The day after I placed my order online for a home entertainment receiver, I got a call trying to sell me an extended warranty and discovered my order had not yet been placed. I never received any email confirmation with an order number. I called the company the next week to ascertain when I might expect to receive my component, I was told ButterFly would not be receiving them for another week, after Labor Day, and was promised that it would be sent to me 2nd-day air shipping. I was also promised a confirmation email with an order number would be sent that day. Three days later (and STILL no confirming email!) I got a call informing me that ButterFly could not get the receiver from its distributor at all, and they tried instead to sell me the next higher (and more expensive) model. I was thoroughly disgusted by the entire experience.

The worst onlie shop that ever I have seen. This doesn't update if the product is available or back ordered. I have placed an order for Samsung TV on August 23rd and have been calling them to know the status. They said it will be shipped soon. Finally after 10days they said the product is backorderd so it may take 10 to 15 days more to ship. So, I had to cancel the order. After Cancelling the order they did not return my money. I am not able to buy a TV because Butterfly photo is holding my amount. They are playing with the lives and emotions of the customers. IS this fair with this store ? Customer support is the worst, they are rude. I suggest do not buy any products from this store.

Product:
Sony 52w4100 hdtv
Looked over the web and Butterfly Photo had the best price, beating the "Buymore" in my neighborhood by over $500. Called on the phone to check current price and ask what company was guaranteeing the extended warantee and what the price might be. (Normally I do not buy any kind of extended warantee, but I was checking because I was nervous about buying something so expensive from across the country, and because I will be watching this hdtv for many years.) The salesman offered to discount an extended warantee if I bought it now and so I bought the hdtv and the warantee, price still hundreds less than my local buymore. Salesman offered cables and mounting brackets and I declined - no high pressure just an offer of accesories I might need. I would expect an upsell script as standard practice in any sales experience so I was not upset and they did not press - so nothing out of the ordinary there. (I already had cables and did not need the wall mount). The next day I was surfing the web and came across this site, I looked up Butterfly Photo and my heart sank as I read all of the negative reviews. I considered calling right then and cancelling, but I figured that I could always dispute my cc charge if there was an issue so I just waited and hoped for the best. The next day Butterfly sent me an email with my shipping tracking number. The first tracking confirmation hit was in Kansas City (more about that later). I tracked the tv across the states (I live in California) and it arrived about a week later via Yellow Freight. It was not double boxed but looked OK. Driver said he could not carry it into the house, I told him I was concerned it might not work after being shipped such a long distance, so I opened it in the driveway and hooked it up to some power, everything looked fine, so I signed for it. I was talking to the driver about the purchase saying that it seemed to have come from New Jersey intact and he told me that is not where it shipped from. I looked at the box which said "PC Connection Services" in Ohio, so apparently it was drop shipped from there. I have since set the TV up in my family room and everything is fine. TV looks great, no dead pixels, everything is as advertised. So my experience is that I found a hdtv at a great price, got what I paid for in the manner I agreed to, in a time frame that was advertised. I would expect any salesman to try and upsell me and there was no pressure when I declined the cables and wall mount. There were not a lot of frills and the tv was apparently drop shipped from another company, but this does not diminish the fact that I got what I paid for in the time frame I expected. The price was great and I have been enjoying my hdtv for almost a month now. So I would recommend this store and would buy from them again. They do not provide a lot of frills and hand holding, but they did have a great price. This review was modified by its author, wwhite, on

Not the best price on Internet but their price is great with item(new) shown in stock and usually ship in 2-3 business days. I decide to place an order with Sharp LC52SE94U on 07/20.
Missed the phone call on 07/21 from the salesman. I called back on 07/22 at 10:00 AM to arrange the delivery. The salesman try to sale the faster shipping and other items but I kindly declined. He did not pressure me into it. He mentioned that I will received the product in 7-14 days and I have 2 days to report damage after received it just in case it happened. He said he will send me the tracking number today(07/22) thru email and I do receive it. On 07/23 receive email from delivery company to schedule delivery on 07/28.
So far so good and I'll update again.
======================
got this TV delivery at 2:30PM on 07/28. There is small cut open on the Box. It did not ship with Corner Boarding/Bubble Wrapping/Double Boxing as advertised in the website but fortunately there is no damage to the TV. Watch the TV for 5 days and everything looks very good. The price is dropped $70.00 after I got the TV. Based on this experience I will buy other products from it again.

Ordered a Panasonic TH-50PZ800U 50 on June 22nd. Best price on the Net. Item showed in stock.
Get a call a day later from a guy in the "TV" department who tried to sell a warranty (I bought it, price seemed good) faster shipping for $90, which I bought and a "line filer, power strip" that he originally offered to me for $185.00. After some haggling, he offered it to me for around $80 which I bought. I then looked up that item at Amazon and found I could buy it for $35.00 so I called and cancelled that item.
A few days later, I get an email stating the item has been slightly back-ordered, and it would be an additional 3 to 5 days. I decided to wait as they waived the $90 shipping charge.
I wait 4 days and call and get a promise that the tracking number would be emailed to me that night.
I did not get the tracking number. This was right before the July 4th holiday weekend.
I call back on Monday, hear the same promise, that I'll get a tracking order that night. I did not.
I called again, and asked to speak with a manager who was very nice. She apologized and said my order had been lost twice by the vendor they were "drop shipping" from. She got everything straightened out and finally gave me a tracking number.
It took a few days for the tracking number to show up. The TV finally arrived at my house on July 16th.
The entire time I was waiting for my TV from backorder, Butterflyphoto.com showed the exact item in stock which I think is highly misleading.
TV works great, price was great, service was pretty lousy until the manager got involved.

Ordered a Sony DVD Player on July 10th. Got the customary email confirming the order and asking for a call before it was complete. Placed the call on the 14th and received the usual sales pitch for cabels etc. Refused and they completed the order. It shipped, It arrived and was what I ordered. So, I have to say my experience was positive and I have no complaints other than it is a pain in the neck to have to make those calls to get an order to ship.

I ordered Canon SD1100 with 2 days shipping then when I was called to confirm the order, they offered me to add a 3 years warranty with which the 2 day shipping came free.
But somehow they created another one instead of changing the previous one so ;
I was told I ordered both of them on web (I dont see the second order in my account info )
For the second order I was charged a week later.
When I tried to send the item back they wanted restocking fee. After I wrote e-mail I called them again and this time i was not asked for a restocking fee but I had to pay for the shipping cost which was 8 usd..
I got my refund a month later but 20 USD is missing.
Butterflyphoto adventure caused me 28 USD..
Dont deal with them because no matter what they do is YOUR FAULT.
-----------------------------
Butterflyphoto gave my 20 USD back.

I ordered a camera from Butterfly Photo from the internet which advertised quick (two days) and free shipping. After a few days, I received a phone call from one of their salesmen that said if I didn't purchase something else, I wouldn't get my camera for at least a week. He wanted me to buy a camera bag and another camera item specifically made for the camera I ordered. I was not interested and told him so. Then I received an E-mail from Butterfly Photo, called: DOD Marketing, Inc. that stated my item had been shipped. I checked the FED Ex tracking number and it was suppose to arrive within days like it was advertised. Not the longer delay the salemen stated to me.
The camera never arrived. I checked the Fed Ex tracking number again and saw it said delivered? Then it changed to say it was being returned? I called Butterfly photo and the Customer Service gal said she could see it was being returned and ignored me when I told her it was never delivered. She said she wouldn't refund my credit card purchase until it arrived. It did but I didn't get a refund. This went on for weeks until they finally refunded part of my order amount. They kept some of it saying it was a restocking fee.
How can anyone be charged a restocking fee on an item they never had? I called Butterfly which stated it was open until 7:00 PM but got no answer. I tried again the next day and see that was changed to 4:00 PM.
I E-mailed them and they said they would not refund my money unless I purchased the same camera again.
Clearly, this is a company that preys on good people. They are not reasonable and have not tried to fix what they broke.
I called Fed Ex and asked them why didn't they deliver my package. I also asked them to tell me my address and why there is no signature for my tracking number? A signature is required for a two day delivery. They confessed that they didn't have my full address and they couldn't deliver it. They continually appoligised and told me Butterfly Photo was contacted after they found out they couldn't deliver my package. Butterfly photo didn't respond to Fed Ex for the five days. That is why they returned it to Butterfly Photo.
Butterfly Photo has my correct address. Don't ever let a vendor tell you otherwise after you make a credit card order. If they don't have your correct address, they will not process the order.
Butterfly Photo had my correct shipping address but wouldn't give it to Fed Ex and they charged me for it.
Stay away from this dishonest company. Beware of Internet theives!

After reading a ton of mixed reviews about this place I decided to give them a chance. Before i ordered, I went to ritzcamera and asked them to price match Butterfly Photo. They did with no questions asked. (Since they did the price match I could only assume that they must be a real computer or a place like Ritz camera wouldn't of done it.
I was looking at the Sony A350k Camera with 18 - 70 lens. Everyone else sold it for 899.99 + Shipping, Butterfly had it for 788.00 with free shipping. The is a big difference and made me feel like maybe its a scam. I put my fears aside and ordered the camera and i got a filter kit (witch the price was a little on the high side but still way less then any other place) Both ordered shipped out FedEx today. I haven't received them yet, but I did call and spoke to Sales to confirm the orders, he didn't try to upset, he did ask if i needed anything else, i said no and he said this will ship later today.
So far I am 200% happy with them and I would go back again and I will when its time to get something else for a good deal.
Thanks Butterflyphoto!

After researching TV/DVD combos, I decided on a Toshiba 26LV47, and Butterfly Photo had the best price. I was a little concerned after reading the customer ratings, but the TV arrived as promised, via 2-day FedEx. I did call to verify they received the order, and they assured me it was in-process and be would delivered in a couple days. No shipping or tax, painless transaction.

Well, I have to admit butterflyphoto did a great job delivering my Canon HF-10. The price was by far the cheapest. The site was not so great but the product arrived 7 days after ordering and in perfect condition. After placing my order I logged onto resellerratings and I read all the bad reviews about butterflyphoto. I called them up the day after I placed my order and after being transferred to 5 different people they told me they did not have my order in their system and that I needed an order number before they could do anything including canceling my order. I waited it out and the next day I get an email saying that my order is being processed. About 4 days after placing the order, I was emailed telling me to call them up because I “qualified” for some special coupons. They obviously were trying to sell some warranty and wide angle lens. I declined and the salesperson was not pushy and the call took about 30 secs. I’m not sure if I needed to call them but I did anyway. The product arrived 3 days later via DHL and required a signature. The product was entirely new and in perfect condition. So overall, I got a perfect product at the cheapest price and it arrived 7 days after placing the order. I just don’t think they offer any customer service and I would hate to think about what would happen if I wanted to return something.

Called to purchase a camera. The first guy I talked to offered me $5 for second day Fedex shipping, I declined the expedited shipping and he then transferred me to another rep. She transferred me to another rep who transferred me to another rep who transferred me to another rep.
So the fifth person I spoke with tried to sell me a memory card, I declined. He then tried to sell me an extra battery, I declined. Finally he tried to sell me the expedited shipping for $10... He said that if I did not choose the expedited shipping my item would be sent parcel post. He then said that it would be sent Fedex or Parcel Post and it was up to their discretion. He also said that if I paid for the 2nd day shipping it would be shipped the following day, if not it would be shipped out 3 days later. I was in no hurry so I said free shipping would be fine.
Turns out it was shipped out the next day using Fedex 2nd day shipping at no extra cost. Item looks good and I received it quickly. It looks like they use Fedex 2nd day shipping and just try to milk you for as much money as they can.

I Bought a Sony Bravia 32xbr6 at a great price from ButterflyPhoto.com on Friday May 9, 2008. The agent was very helpful and answered all my questions. They did not contact me after placing order nor did I need to contact them. Received an email confirmation and tracking number that day. Package was shipped the next day and I received item on Tuesday as expected. I love my tv and will buy from them again.

Although I was leery, with by far the lowest $$ on the web, took a chance and ordered a Canon Powershot TX1 from Butterfly on Apr 17; paid with PayPal. Got confirmation/copy of invoice to email right away; no 'call us to confirm' type stuff, nor phone calls. In fact, no other contact at all. Order tracking on their site finally showed that they shipped 2-day fedex on the 24th and just got it about noon Monday Apr 28(site had warned Passover would 'delay' orders). Factory-fresh with North America packaging and literature, all accessories included; $263.90, no shipping nor tax. Shipping box was a little dodgy, camera box was unprotected at bottom of shipping box with air packs piled on top. I think these guys are trying to go legit after some murky beginnings. Otherwise no complaints...what a beauty! Old-school Japan quality. Let's start shooting!
