Worst online shopping experience I have ever had. I ordered a Canon PowerShot SD780, from ButterflyPhoto.com at what appeared to be a good price (229.00 in including shipping and some accessories), and was hoping to have the camera for a snowboard trip coming up in two weeks. After the order I received and email confirming the order.. then didn't hear anything for four days. On the fourth day I called the customer service line to ask if there was a problem, I was told that there was no problem and the order would be shipped within 24 hours. Two days later I still had not heard anything so I wrote an email to the company to find out what was going on. They told me that my billing address didn't match my shipping address, which has never happened to me before, and that I need to call the number on back of my credit card to have it changed. I call the number and the woman seemed confused as to what I was asking, and told me there was no reason for her to change anything. I call customer service for the second time, and I am told that the address still would not verify, not even the zip code!! This sounded ridiculous to me, and honestly for a moment I thought I had submitted my credit card information to a fraudulent company. I tried giving numerous old addresses, and variations of my current address, trying to figure out why there was a problem, but she said nothing would verify. I finally tell her that I don't know what the problem is and that I want to cancel the order, and she says she will send an email confirming cancellation. I get home from work, and sure enough there is the email, the order is cancelled, great! So now, its the following day, and I go to check my bank account online.. ..458 dollars are missing! (2*$229) They charged my card twice! The day after I had cancelled my order!! So, I call customer service for the third time, and I am told that "the bank must not have processed the fax telling them to cancel the card authorization".. well what authorization was this!? I was told the day before that no matter what address was used the card would not authorize, and now my card is charged twice?? The woman had to personally call the credit card company and have them put a stop to the charges. When I asked why it was run twice, I was told that someone must have tried it once, and then tried it again not knowing it went through the first time. Well it should never have gone through at all according to what I had been told, not to mention there seem to be a lot of employees having access to my credit card information, while none of them have any idea what is actually going on, it really makes me a concerned. I can say now that finally the charges have all been removed, but seven days later I have no camera, although I am quite frustrated, have no camera for my trip, and have wasted a lot of time and energy dealing with this sub-par company. Terrible. Simply Terrible.
Oh and the hiking pack and ipod I ordered that same day arrived several days ago and are being put to good use.. but no camera..
So, I would simply warn people, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ButterflyPhoto.Com -- Out of dozens of online purchases each year, this has been the worst experience I have ever had.

Very soon after I placed my order, I received a phone call to make sure everything was right. I was asked if I wanted to add to my order and that was it. I was told my order was on its way and my credit card had been charged.
I never received anything regarding my shipping status. About 11 days later, I called regarding the shipping status of my order. I was told by Tiffany my order was shipped and in transit, but due to bad weather and my order not having a shipping number she was unable locate my order. Tiffany stated she would email me later on in the day with a tracking number. I never received that email.
I called back about 8 hours later and was told my order was never shipped and the TV, I order was no longer available. They said I could wait a week and 1/2 for the newer model but I would have to pay the difference. The TV, I ordered (Sony KDL-40Z5100) still show in stock on their website and for more money know. They were quick to refund my money and stated they were unaware the TV was no longer in stock.
A few days later a BP rep. called me and apologized for the inconvenience. He sent me a free HDMI and tv cleaning kit. This review was modified by its author, mikeg2010, on

On November 30th 2009 I ordered a new Nikkor 55-200mm zoom lens for my Nikon D3000. The lens arrived a week after I had ordered it but did not work. I called Nikon and they said the lens that Butterfly Photo sent me was defective. I returned the the lens the following day. After 2 weeks the replacement lens did not come. I called numerous times and was on hold a minimum of 20 minutes each time I called. Tired of waiting for the replacement lens I called and asked for a refund on my credit card. 3 weeks have past & I still have not gotten a refund on my credit card. I would not do business with this company again.
After writing this review I did get a phone call from the president of Butterfly Photo with an apology and he assured me that my credit card was credited on January 4th for the purchase. I think that was a nice gesture and shows to me that the company does care about customers who may have a problem. This review was modified by its author, billrighter, on

This is not a reputable company and I will never do business with them again. I only wish I had checked this web site before placing my order. After I placed the order I received a call from their customer service department and they tried to sell me additional material and insurance. At that point I should have cancelled the order. They sent a partial shipment and billed me for 19 dollars more than the invoice. The told me that the remainder of the shipment would be in a second delivery,I neve received the second delivery and the first delivery did not contain everything they said was in the box and there were brand changes in the material they sent. I have tried to contact their customer support but I can never get a live body. I truly belive that the positive reviews for this site are fakes

Purchased a Canon PowerShot SX20IS, fortunately using PayPal. Received an order confirmation and the money was taken from my account within minutes. Then no communication for a day, so I called and was told that my camera was being prepped for shipment and that the process took from 24 to 48 hours. I'd didn't like it much, but said okay. Next day, again no communication (and BTW their website tracking interface is coincidentally glitched), so since 48 hours had passed I called them again. I was again told that my camera was at the warehouse and that it was about to be shipped... Today has been nearly 72 hours, so again I called them - this time I was told that "the shipment of cameras that they expected hadn't arrived" - they told me "they'd received two instead of the twenty they'd expected." So, get this - they sold me a camera they did not have! An illegal practice. I told them to cancel the order and return my money immediately. They did cancel it and I got a cancellation email, but I was then informed that it took PayPal 2 to 3 days to process refunds. I was fairly sure that wasn't true so when I hung up with ButterFly (Outlook Aquisition Corp) I gave PayPal a call, and what do you know? They have no such policy. If Butterfly goes to the sale details page and clicks Refund - I receive the refund immediately. Butterfly has given me the runaround for several days, and they continue to do so. In my own best interests I have now filed a dispute through PayPal, and it will not go away until I have my money. I did just now call Butterfly Photo one more time to let them know what was happening, and no surprise - they hung up on me. Its their move. Conclusion: this is not a good company to do business with. BEWARE.
2:30 PM 12/11 - ButterFly has returned my money. It is possible that I am incorrect, however I fully believe that my PayPal action (noted above) inspired this prompt return. Be very careful. This review was modified by its author, wmshaxpere, on

SATISFIED BUT BE AWARE OF CERTAIN FACTS:
I purchased the Sony SR11 camcorder from them and a day after placing the order I got a call from Steven Cl_______ a sales representative. He said he wanted to confirm the order but then sold me other accessories and a carrying bag/case as part of a package.
I had read the reviews for the site and knew that they would call and try to sell me additional stuff for the camcorder. I did end up buying from them (as part of a package at an additional cost) a bag for the camcorder, additional macro lens, uv filter lens, additional battery, additional battery charger, and lens cleaner. I paid more than $200 on top of my camcorder for the package. The next day delivery was
'FREE with my package.'
Though I am glad to have the extra battery and the macro lens, they DO NOT fit in the bag (with the camcorder) that he sold me. Also, the macro lens is NOT COMPATIBLE with the UV filter lens (images are blurry even with the clean lenses).
I ended up buying a bigger bag on my own because, again, the bag that he sold me for the camcorder ONLY fits the camcorder with the original slim battery (even the additional battery was too big for the bag that Steve sold me).
I have never used the uv filter lens, or the lens cleaning kit since then. The bag that Steve sold me is useless because it is way to small to hold anything additional. Steve did not bother to check if all the stuff that he sold me would fit in the bag that he sold me as a "Package."
The red flags went up when he kept insisting that I rate these guys as soon as my order was placed (instead of when I actually got the products). Also he kept insisting that I write "I would recommend this to family and friends" (sorry, but I cannot). I was hesitant and stayed polite throughout the entire ordeal because I realized that these guys now have my money. On the brighter side, it may not be the worst thing in the world to get some extras- I thought. I waited a few months to make sure the camcorder worked before writing my review.
So, to sum it up, I am SATISFIED by the PRODUCT from Sony. I am SATISFIED by the delivery time. I am UNSATISFIED by some of the extras I ended up paying for due to their incompatibility with each other (even though they were "part of the same package").
I was trying to save money online, but ended up spending the SAME (if not more) than I would have at a brick and mortar store with all the extras. Unfortunately I am NOT going to buy from Butterfly Photo again nor can I comfortably recommend ButterflyPhoto. I sincerely hope that they change their tactics and stop trying to sell their customers extras that do not go together.

I tried to purchase a camera that fits in the palm of my hand. Then were actually stupid enough to send me an email telling me I need to call in to arrainge shipping for my 'oversized item.' They require anyone buying anything to be forced to call in so that they can sell you more items that are over-priced to make up for the supposedly discounted item you think you are buying. PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN ONE THING: DON'T EVERY BUY ONLINE FROM ANY ONLINE STORE THAT IS LOCATED IN THE NYC/NJ AREA. PERIOD. IT IS ALWAYS A SCAM. IF THE PRICE LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS.

This is how you NOT do the business if you want to keep customers coming.
1. Called customer service to verify if Canon 7D Kit 28-135 is in stock. CSR told YES, we have both, with 28-135 lens for $1866 and 18-135 for #2199 (significantly overpriced)
2. I hang on the phone and placed an order for Canon 7D 28-135 for 1866 and got order confirmation
3. Next day received an email and phone message to give them a call to verify my order so I called. It was obnoxious up-sell on various overpriced stuff (batteries, warranty, faster shipping etc.) which I politely declined. "Seller" told me fine, your order will be shipped in 24-48 hours.
4. Called after 48 hours to check why my order status is still "Processing", CSR checked and said that the particular 7D I ordered is not in stock and they can sell overpriced one with discount at 1999 (still $100 overpriced). No surprise, since I declined all their other stuff my order all sudden become "not in stcok"
Shady operations, buyers beaware!

I have ordered from Butterfly before without an issue and was always well pleased. Therefore, when it came time for this purchase I ordered from them again based on my previous positive experiences.
Things sure did change... this order was followed by an email from Butterfly requesting that I call them. My calls went to a voicemail system, but were eventually returned. During the call, I was pressured to authorize additional costs for shipping and additional expenses for overpriced accessories. This is my last attempt to do business with Butterfly Photo.

This was the second large $ order I placed with Butterfly photo in the past few months. I first ordered a D700 body with a 24-70mm 2.8 nikon lens. Item took weeks to ship, after many phone calls I was able to get them to finally ship the item. Thinking it was an honest mistake and they seem like a good enough company I placed my second order with them for a nikon 70-200mm lens and after waiting for THREE WEEKS!!! I called to find out what was wrong and they told me this lens was "out of stock" and when I looked on their website it was STILL listed in stock just as it was the day I bought it, only difference was the price has gone up... Little fishy. Long story short, after three more phone calls and they finally got the item shipped, but they sent it out 7-10 day ups when I TOLD THEM I NEED IT THIS WEEK! Just seems like these people could care less about their customers.... Oh, and I was promised phone calls and emails multiple times and never got one of either.... great customer service.... NOT

I submitted my order for a Nikon S210 and there was a problem with the processing because my billing address is different from my shipping address. I tried to contact them on Sunday (2/8/09) but they weren't open and I kind of had a hard time getting in contact with someone because their hours of operation on the website, email, and telephone were all completely different. Once I did talk to someone the issue was completely resolved. I can say that they are truly polite and are there to make sure that you are a satisfied customer which I am. I would definitely buy another electronic item from them, I am pleased.

I ordered Canon SD1100 with 2 days shipping then when I was called to confirm the order, they offered me to add a 3 years warranty with which the 2 day shipping came free.
But somehow they created another one instead of changing the previous one so ;
I was told I ordered both of them on web (I dont see the second order in my account info )
For the second order I was charged a week later.
When I tried to send the item back they wanted restocking fee. After I wrote e-mail I called them again and this time i was not asked for a restocking fee but I had to pay for the shipping cost which was 8 usd..
I got my refund a month later but 20 USD is missing.
Butterflyphoto adventure caused me 28 USD..
Dont deal with them because no matter what they do is YOUR FAULT.
-----------------------------
Butterflyphoto gave my 20 USD back.

I ordered a camera from Butterfly Photo from the internet which advertised quick (two days) and free shipping. After a few days, I received a phone call from one of their salesmen that said if I didn't purchase something else, I wouldn't get my camera for at least a week. He wanted me to buy a camera bag and another camera item specifically made for the camera I ordered. I was not interested and told him so. Then I received an E-mail from Butterfly Photo, called: DOD Marketing, Inc. that stated my item had been shipped. I checked the FED Ex tracking number and it was suppose to arrive within days like it was advertised. Not the longer delay the salemen stated to me.
The camera never arrived. I checked the Fed Ex tracking number again and saw it said delivered? Then it changed to say it was being returned? I called Butterfly photo and the Customer Service gal said she could see it was being returned and ignored me when I told her it was never delivered. She said she wouldn't refund my credit card purchase until it arrived. It did but I didn't get a refund. This went on for weeks until they finally refunded part of my order amount. They kept some of it saying it was a restocking fee.
How can anyone be charged a restocking fee on an item they never had? I called Butterfly which stated it was open until 7:00 PM but got no answer. I tried again the next day and see that was changed to 4:00 PM.
I E-mailed them and they said they would not refund my money unless I purchased the same camera again.
Clearly, this is a company that preys on good people. They are not reasonable and have not tried to fix what they broke.
I called Fed Ex and asked them why didn't they deliver my package. I also asked them to tell me my address and why there is no signature for my tracking number? A signature is required for a two day delivery. They confessed that they didn't have my full address and they couldn't deliver it. They continually appoligised and told me Butterfly Photo was contacted after they found out they couldn't deliver my package. Butterfly photo didn't respond to Fed Ex for the five days. That is why they returned it to Butterfly Photo.
Butterfly Photo has my correct address. Don't ever let a vendor tell you otherwise after you make a credit card order. If they don't have your correct address, they will not process the order.
Butterfly Photo had my correct shipping address but wouldn't give it to Fed Ex and they charged me for it.
Stay away from this dishonest company. Beware of Internet theives!

After reading a ton of mixed reviews about this place I decided to give them a chance. Before i ordered, I went to ritzcamera and asked them to price match Butterfly Photo. They did with no questions asked. (Since they did the price match I could only assume that they must be a real computer or a place like Ritz camera wouldn't of done it.
I was looking at the Sony A350k Camera with 18 - 70 lens. Everyone else sold it for 899.99 + Shipping, Butterfly had it for 788.00 with free shipping. The is a big difference and made me feel like maybe its a scam. I put my fears aside and ordered the camera and i got a filter kit (witch the price was a little on the high side but still way less then any other place) Both ordered shipped out FedEx today. I haven't received them yet, but I did call and spoke to Sales to confirm the orders, he didn't try to upset, he did ask if i needed anything else, i said no and he said this will ship later today.
So far I am 200% happy with them and I would go back again and I will when its time to get something else for a good deal.
Thanks Butterflyphoto!

After researching TV/DVD combos, I decided on a Toshiba 26LV47, and Butterfly Photo had the best price. I was a little concerned after reading the customer ratings, but the TV arrived as promised, via 2-day FedEx. I did call to verify they received the order, and they assured me it was in-process and be would delivered in a couple days. No shipping or tax, painless transaction.
