I had a wonderful experience with Butterfly Photo. I wanted to buy a pair of "Beats" headphones for my daughter's birthday and they had by far the best price. I was concerned about ordering on line and especially from a company that I wasn't familiar with. I called the 800 number and spoke to a gentleman who eased my concerns and walked me through the order. He promised that the headphones would arrive before my daughter's birthday. They did...they are perfect....she loved them...and I saved about a hundred dollars. GREAT experience!

I ordered a 42" LG TV. It was the lowest priced on the web. It came in the time frame promised and everything works great.

I will never purchase from this company again. I’ve received the first call within a few hours of placing my order. The salesman preceded with his high pressure push for additional products, I did agree to a additional warranty service contract after he dropped the price several times. In addition to reducing the price of the contract the salesman agreed to expedited shipping. The shipping incentive is why I agreed to the service contract. The salesman assumed me the camera would be derived to my home within the 5 business day time frame. Now at the time of this review the (4th day after the order) I’ve received 2 more phone calls attempting to sell me more product. The order has not shipped.
I phoned Butterfly customer service to find out status of the order, after a lengthy hold I was told that there was an issue with the camera I ordered. The representative apologized for the delay and stated that her camera buyer assured her the order would ship shortly and as a courtesy they were going to give me free 3 to 5 day shipping.
Folks to me it looks and feels like bad business to handle customers like this. I can understand one call to verify the order and advise a customer on other items that may compliment the purchase but beyond that Butterfly Photo practices are not acceptable. It would appear they never had the camera in stock even though the website indicated so. It also appears they are far more concerned about additional sales than shipping the customers orders. I ordered a Samsung 58" plasma tv from Butterflyphoto.com and got excellent service. They called me within an hour of placing the order to verify and offer additional products. The salesman was helpful and had no problem when I declined his offer. He gave me details on how the process would work for delivery of such a large item. He also gave me explicit instructions to inspect the TV before signing the shipping invoice to ensure any damage was caught before the delivery man left.
The TV arrived on time, as promised. The delivery company they used was excellent, they gave a 3 hr window, but called 30 minutes prior to delivery. The TV was in excellent condition, the delivery man also ensured I inspected the TV before I signed the shipping documents, which made me feel good.
Over all this was an exceptional company to work with. They provided excellent service, a great price and perfect execution on the delivery. I will definitely use them again and give my highest recommendation. I buy a lot on-line (10-20 orders a month- books, DVDs, toys, etc) and this is the best service I have ever received from an on-line retailer. This review was modified by its author, msmith7750, on

Don't bother with this company—there's a reason they have an "F" from the Better Business Bureau.
I ordered a digital SLR body from them because they were the cheapest on shopping.google.com by about $25. The order was placed on Saturday Feb. 27. Monday rolls around and I get a form email saying "there are coupons that might apply" to the order and to call their sales. This was obviously just a way to force me to call them so they could try to sell me other stuff. There being no way to have the order go through otherwise, I called.
I reached a rude salesperson who, predictably, tried to sell me everything under the sun. He did this by saying things like, "you've read about how terrible the battery life of this camera is, right?" (trying to sell me batteries), "especially while shooting video" (which the Canon 50D can't). Typical hard sales, but I figured that I could easily refuse to buy other items and it would still be worth the hassle to save $25.
Well, come Wednesday, and nothing has happened (despite the camera being "in stock"--"ships in 1-2 days"--the prior Saturday). Suddenly I get an email from billing saying my credit card was rejected. I am forced to call again, and they claim they had the wrong expiration date. This is also untrue--I entered everything correctly when I placed the order--but I "corrected" it anyway and they said the order would ship right away. Of course, checking my credit card statement, I now see 2 pending charges (for nearly $1000 each, mind you) on my statement, which I had to contact them about again to fix.
Because of the delay, they gave me "expedited shipping." That sounded great--if they had ever actually shipped the camera! Thursday comes, and still nothing has happened (except the pending credit card charge). So I contact them, and they give me some story about the "replenishment" from Canon being "late." For a camera that was listed as "In Stock . . . ships in 1-2 days"?!? They then told me it would ship Friday (Mar 5).
Needless to say, Friday and the weekend came and went with nothing happening. I tried to contact them on Monday and got no response. So Tuesday, I canceled my order, which was the only thing they did with any efficiency. Long story short: wasted 10 days dealing with these clowns--how difficult is it to put a camera in a box and ship it?!?
Conclusion: these people are classic "bait-and-switch" scheisters. If you find a good deal on their site, they will do absolutely anything to either force you to buy cheap crap you do not want (in addition to the product you ordered), or they will simply not sell to you. You should NEVER have to call an online store to push the order through. Their actions constituted a breach of contract, false advertising, and possibly fraud.
If they were this bad (either totally incompetent, or borderline fraudulent) when trying to BUY from them, I can only imagine what they would be like if you actually needed to RETURN something! (Or worse yet, received the wrong or a DOA item!)
Save yourself the headache and waste of time, and buy your camera gear from a reputable dealer like Amazon (directly), B&H Photo Video (has an "A" from the BBB), Adorama, etc. This review was modified by its author, jpstein, on

I am very pleased with their phone order service. I needed a projector for our church by the next day. Not only were they able to deliver it on time it was cheaper than I expected it to be and it worked right out of the box.

I purchased a very large order from ButterFly, I received everything a day before expected, all 60 items were in perfect condition with no problems to date. I would defiantly buy from them again. Everything was completed on time and with no problems of any kind.

We will never order from Butterflyphoto.com ever again. The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced.
We ordered a digital camera that was brand new to the market and could not find it anywhere else. They said it was 'in stock' and we wanted it for an upcoming trip. This is the primary reason we ordered it from here. We placed the order online with 3 day shipping. Customer service guy 'Steve' left us multiple voice mails the next day. I did call him back and it was really maddening. All he wanted to do was up sell me on accessories.. I was like if I wanted to be hounded to buy a battery, carrying case, tripod, lens cleaner and 16 other items I don’t need, want or have the money for; I would have shopped at Best buy.
Anyways, the worst part is he started out with it will ship “today” (Thursday) but after not selling me anything his last ditch effort was to say well, your item will ship next Wednesday, but I can expedite it through my manager if you buy the accessory pack of a slew of items for a low, low price of $39.99; I was like, wait you said it would ship today. I called back the next day just to make sure we would have it in time for our trip and 'Steve' said that there was a snowstorm so now we wouldn't have it until at the latest (the following) Friday.
Why would it take 11 days total to get this????
We got so frustrated with them that we canceled the order, placed an order at NewEgg the same day and we are set to receive it tomorrow (because NewEgg isn't shy about giving us a tracking number right off the bat unlike butterfly who would not give me any sort of tracking number).
Please save yourself the trouble and just order from somewhere else.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BUTTERFLY
I made an pre order for a Fuji HS10 with kit from Butterfly through Amazon - 3-4 week delivery. 10 days later they called me up and actually lied to me telling it was not going to be shipped for 10 weeks. I said I would wait. By the next day they had sent me an email canceling my order with no explanation. I have since tried twice through email to get an explanation. No response
I give 0 rating because
• no communication and they are liars.
Very dishonest bunch
So if you order beware could be bad news.
The rating on this site is a dismal 6.3 so there are a lot of other unhappy customers. Like 4 out of every 10

I was delighted with the sales rep, who was knowledgable and gave excellent advice. The price was the best available and delivery was as promised. Suggestion: company should advise on how to have product left without requiring a signature.

I ordered a cannon gl2 from this company online. I received a call the next day from them saying I needed to call my credit card company and add my "ship to" address to my credit card. The man was friendly and managed to upsell me accessories to the camera. Said it would ship out in 2 days. I called 5 days later. The person said it would ship out in 2 days. Every time I call I hear the ship out in 2 days story with no explanation for the delay. All I ask is to be informed of delays and when it will actually ship. 6 weeks and 4 calls later I've yet to receive my camera, an explanation or an apology for the lack of communication. I plan on canceling the order tomorrow. Update- The manager called after this review and seemed to want to make it right. He had a tracking number and said it would ship that day. He wanted to throw in a free camera case but it didn't seem right to accept it. He asked me to edit the review. I told him I would consider it when I got the camera. UPS has called me and said it's on the way:) This review was modified by its author, bethzobian, on

Worst online shopping experience I have ever had. I ordered a Canon PowerShot SD780, from ButterflyPhoto.com at what appeared to be a good price (229.00 in including shipping and some accessories), and was hoping to have the camera for a snowboard trip coming up in two weeks. After the order I received and email confirming the order.. then didn't hear anything for four days. On the fourth day I called the customer service line to ask if there was a problem, I was told that there was no problem and the order would be shipped within 24 hours. Two days later I still had not heard anything so I wrote an email to the company to find out what was going on. They told me that my billing address didn't match my shipping address, which has never happened to me before, and that I need to call the number on back of my credit card to have it changed. I call the number and the woman seemed confused as to what I was asking, and told me there was no reason for her to change anything. I call customer service for the second time, and I am told that the address still would not verify, not even the zip code!! This sounded ridiculous to me, and honestly for a moment I thought I had submitted my credit card information to a fraudulent company. I tried giving numerous old addresses, and variations of my current address, trying to figure out why there was a problem, but she said nothing would verify. I finally tell her that I don't know what the problem is and that I want to cancel the order, and she says she will send an email confirming cancellation. I get home from work, and sure enough there is the email, the order is cancelled, great! So now, its the following day, and I go to check my bank account online.. ..458 dollars are missing! (2*$229) They charged my card twice! The day after I had cancelled my order!! So, I call customer service for the third time, and I am told that "the bank must not have processed the fax telling them to cancel the card authorization".. well what authorization was this!? I was told the day before that no matter what address was used the card would not authorize, and now my card is charged twice?? The woman had to personally call the credit card company and have them put a stop to the charges. When I asked why it was run twice, I was told that someone must have tried it once, and then tried it again not knowing it went through the first time. Well it should never have gone through at all according to what I had been told, not to mention there seem to be a lot of employees having access to my credit card information, while none of them have any idea what is actually going on, it really makes me a concerned. I can say now that finally the charges have all been removed, but seven days later I have no camera, although I am quite frustrated, have no camera for my trip, and have wasted a lot of time and energy dealing with this sub-par company. Terrible. Simply Terrible.
Oh and the hiking pack and ipod I ordered that same day arrived several days ago and are being put to good use.. but no camera..
So, I would simply warn people, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ButterflyPhoto.Com -- Out of dozens of online purchases each year, this has been the worst experience I have ever had.
