Easily the worst online retailer I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Their site is filled with deceptive copy and misleading prices. As someone who runs an online retailer himself, I can vouch for the fact that Top Choice Digital employs an impressive set of horrible service practices.

They charged my credit card an additional $79.99 in handling fees -- on an item they prominently promoted as having "Free Shipping" -- without my consent although this amount was NOT reflected in my checkout total.

When I called to find out about the mystery charge, they had the audacity to put me on hold for 15 minutes only to hang up on me after a curt reply. This, incidentally, for an item with a nearly $1,500 price tag.

Understandably, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Getting them to cancel my order was like pulling teeth. After speaking briefly with a customer service rep at an outsourced call center, I was placed on hold while the call was transferred to their "cancellation department." Needless to say, after 15 minutes, no one had answered the phone.

But they now knew my account number, so when I called back, they immediately placed me on hold. I had to call back about six times, and the only way I avoided the immediate hold button was by pleading to not be placed on hold.

The rep who FINALLY refunded my order was downright hostile and insulting, and kept trying to change the subject away from the cancellation. When I explained that the company was infamous on the net for this sort of bait and switch, he claimed ignorance. Needless to say, my suggestion that he simply Google "Top Choice Digital" to see what I was talking about was not warmly received.

They also phoned both myself and my spouse at 8:00 am on the dot to try to upsell us on various accessories the day after our order placement. I had read about this practice of theirs prior to my purchase, but despite my protests that I did not need further accessories, the salesman brusquely continued offering item after unwanted item.

An awful experience from start to finish. I'll be surprised if they refund my order without my bank's intervention.

Don't make the same mistake I did--heed the overwhelming sentiment here and stay away from topchoicedigital.com. You're better off spending $50 more (although the price will be the same after they leverage their hidden fees) and buying goods from a reputable retailer who gives you bonafide manufacturer's warranties and cares about their customers.

It has also come to my attention (thanks to an investigation of the company's caller ID number), that this scam is perpetuated under a variety of names, including Wild Digital and Broadway Photo.

UPDATE: Another bad sign -- the only way to get them to talk to you is by posting an honest review here.
Today I received an email from a customer service rep stating "If you are willing to remove your negative complaint and instead post a positive one I am willing to ship the camera which you initially ordered at $1356.50 for a reduced cost price of $1275.00. That price would be final without any hidden charges."

Nice of them to acknowledge, in writing, their practice of including hidden charges, huh? And all I have to do is remove my review and replace it with a glowing one so that their next victim doesn't have the heads-up?

They can keep their special offer without "hidden charges," I'm taking my business elsewhere permanently. Now if they would like to stop harassing my wife and I with phone calls, I would take that as a peace offering.

This company is rediculous.
It is a joke really. I bought a new camera for my daughter from this company 10 days before Christmas. We were on vacation. 2 days before Christmas they call me and say they have to ship it to our billing address because of credit card fraud. So Christmas morning, my daughter did not have her main gift to open. We got back about a week after Christmas, and the camera still isn't here 17 days later. We called the company and they said they had yet another glitch sending it to our billing address and were going to send it a week from today.
We ordered her camera and we are expected to wait 24 days before we get it when we paid for quick shipping? I don't think so.
This company is a joke and I have had nothing but problems from them.
I definantly would NOT recommend buying ANYTHING from them, unless you enjoy feeling like a second class citizen.

I've read many reviews on these kind of low-cost NYC based camera stores...and am fascinated to try it out myself...I love listening to people lying straight to my face, it just makes me wonder what people are willing to do to make that extra buck...oh well, I guess in this economic predicament, the more fortunate ones could spare the less fortunate with some patience...

I ordered the camera on 11.24, received a call, confirmation my order...I was totally ready for the guy to start up-selling, but just to find out that he actually didn't, and told me the item will be shipped out! I then asked him how long does the "free shipping" takes, he said, 10 business days...so I said I want to upgrade to 2 day UPS, he then said sure, that'll be $39.99. I was like, wait, I saw on your website that it'll only be $14.99, and he replied, oh, b/c of the holiday season, they've changed the rate (I was like wtfreaker, yeah right...so I said, no, just cancel it). He canceled the order, and then immediately, I went onto the website and re-order, with 3 day shipping.

Then today, I called in to confirm my order...and gosh, I guess I ran out of luck and had this hard-selling sales person...so the same story goes...he asked me if I have any questions, I said no...he said if I am aware that the battery on these camera will last only 20 minutes, and most people bought two extra batteries that I could get 50% off if I were to purchase it along with my order. I kindly declined...and he said okay...I see that you canceled and reordered? Then I explained to him how I wanted to pay extra to get it faster...there, the moment I said that, I knew I blew it, b/c now he thinks I am a sucker (and I was!)...

He then went on to perpetuate the conversation by saying...oh...your total with shipping and insurance (insurance???) will be $XXX.XX. I immediately told him I see no where on the website where it states I need to add insurance...of course, it became I said, he said (he stated that they always change insurance, from 2 to 12%, and he's only charging me 9%). I told him to cancel the order, and then he said, you know what...I'll just charge you 5%. BTW, during the conversation, he would put me on hold from time to time (which was alright, I believe he was trying to annoy me, but I needed those extra moments to think anyway). After he came back, I told him, look, I am a web savvy buyer, and have seen lots of mixed review, and the little games you guys play with battery and shipping, so...just cut it out and sell me the stuff...to my surprise, he didn't hang up on me, and told me that I couldn't find the camera at a cheaper price anywhere in the world, and if I can't spend that extra 10 bucks, then maybe I can't afford the camera.

I am a guy with great patience, so...I didn't care what he said, and told him, what about return policy, will you guys charge me with other things here and there? He said no...just 21 days, full refund. I knew it was a lie, but you know what, that's the good thing about being a consumer in the US, "consumer rights" actually exists...so, I figure, if anything, I'll just call up my cc company and tell them that TopChoiceDigital is a scam and get my full refund. So I ordered the camera...(I just double checked on their website, and yes, they will charge you 5% for restocking fee, so...).

Well, that was my experience, and I just hope that although I don't like their strategy...as long as they send me what they say they will send, I am okay with it...good luck everyone!

I called to order a Sony Camcorder. I did not want to order it on line because the price was too low and I did not think it would pan out. When I called I was asked if I wanted to buy an extra Battery, charger, filter or case. I said no. The salesman ask that I buy it off the web. I placed the order on the Web, then I got a call and email to call them, I got the same list of questions and said no to all the extras. I was then told that the shipping was free but the handling was $75. I did not order the camcorder.

SCAMMERS. Advertised prices are not available. They will try to talk you into buying accessories, when you decline they will either not have your item in stock or say it will be shipped in 6-8 weeks and it will be Gray Market. You'll eventually get an email saying it's not available and your order has been cancelled. STAY AWAY, SHOP ELSEWHERE

BUYERS BEWARE!!! All the horrible reviews you've read about them are true! I wish I found this site before I bought anything from them. I'm completely convinced that this outfit's goal is to scam people. I bought a brand new Sony BDP-S350 on November 2nd for $189. Best price I've seen anywhere. Two days later, I still have not received a confirmation email. All reputable online stores at the very least will send you one almost immediately. So I called customer service. I was told that they'd email me the order confirmation and the tracking number. Two days later I finally got the email. Well, guess what? The UPS tracking number they gave me was no good. I called UPS and was told that that tracking number was voided - meaning UPS was sent the tracking number for billing purposes but the vendor pulled it back. In other words, the item was never sent. I called customer service back and spoke to a guy named Joe who told me that the item was shipped. I told him what UPS told me so he said that he'd look into it for me and call me back. He did call me back a couple of hours later and told me that they were having problems with their shipping system. Computer issues or something but he'd have it straightened out by no later than the next day. The next day, I get an email from them saying that I need to call to confirm my order. I was like.... WTF???? I was frustrated as hell at this point but I called and spoke to some sales guy who was trying to sell me extended warranty and overnight shipping. I almost lost my cool but I explained to him what has happened with my order. He quickly got rid of me and without hesitation, forwarded me to customer service. No warm transfer...nada! I can't remember who I spoke with over there but at that point, I went ahead and cancelled my order. Too much shiiiit! No one should have to put up with this crap. The guy was rude and seemed unhappy that I was cancelling my order. Yesterday, I called back to make sure that it has been processed. This time, I spoke to a guy named Lawrence who insisted that there was no record of me cancelling this order and that the item has been shipped!! It took everything I had to keep my cool. Lawrence gave me the tracking number which was the same bogus tracking number they emailed me a few days before. Then he asked me who I spoke with to cancel my order and for the life of me, I couldn't remember that person's name. I told him that I have spoken to a guy named Joe before who should know about my predicament. Lawrence said he'd call me back after he investigates. I practically begged him to cancel my order but what I really wanted to do was curse the living hell out of him and his entire company but of course I didn't. I get a call back from Lawrence and he said that he cancelled my order and confirmed that the item was indeed never shipped. I'm suppose to get a credit back on my credit card in a few days, he said but I have a feeling this nightmare 'aint over yet. Will I actually get that credit back? Or am I going to have to end up dealing with my credit card company to get this straightened out? I'll know in a few days.

Overall, it was a hard lesson learned. This company have no idea what customer service is all about. Their personnel lacked professionalism and the tone of their voice comes across as if you owe they something. From hereon out, I'll stick to reputable online vendors like crutchfield.com, buy.com, newegg.com, wal-mart, target, best buy..... or the manufacturer's website. I've had some minor problems with a couple of them before but they were quickly resolved and done so with professionalism. These fly by night sellers like topchoicedigital will soon go out of business and the sooner the better.

I was a little skeptial at first about placing an order with Top Choice Digital after reading the reviews, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway, worst case I figured I'd let my credit card company deal with it if things went bad. I called asking about a Yamaha RX-V1900 receiver, asking if the price their web site listed was for a US spec or grey market model. The price they listed was for a grey market model, as I suspected, so I asked what the price of a US model was. They gave me that and said they had it in stock too. The price wasn't that much more, and still saved me over $300 compared to other well known reputable dealers even including the cost of S&H. So I decided to go ahead with the order. The salesman asked if I needed any cables to go with it, but I said no and he didn't press me any more, not much more you can try to sell in accessories for an AV receiver...lol. I placed the order over the phone, and shortly after received an e-mail from them with an order number, it was from them but also said thank you for choosing Broadway Photo (showing they are one and the same). After about a week later, I had never received a tracking e-mail as promised, and hadn't seen a charge on my credit card yet, so I called. They said the order had gone out and they would resend me the tracking info e-mail. I never received the tracking e-mail, but the unit did show up the next day, and then a few more days later the charge showed up on my credit card. The unit was a US spec model in perfect condition and for a very good price as promised, tho customer service and organization and tracking could use some work. Maybe I got lucky with the reciever purchase, but other than not knowing what was happening at all times, it was a smooth trasnsaction.

I was very skeptical to place an order at Top Choice Digital after reading all the reviews on here. I went ahead and did it anyways because the camera I wanted, the Sony Cybershot DSC-T70 was so much more expensive everywhere else. I placed the order on the 23rd and got the email stating that I needed to call to confirm my order. When I called the representative did try to sell me a million things that I didn't need but after I politely said no to everything he said ok and told me the order was processing and should ship within the next 24 hours. I got another email shortly after with a UPS tracking number. The camera arrived the next day. I was still worried that something wouldn't be right with it, that it would be Japanese or used but it was in a Sony sealed box and everything was in English. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I paid exactly what the website originally said, no extra handling fees or shipping fees or anything. I would definately do business with these guys again.

Beware!!! Bait and switch is the gimick they use to squeeze a few extra bucks out of you. They offered me a camera at a good price. Then sent an email saying they had to talk to me to confirm. Then they told me the camera I had ordered was the "import version" and all the menu characters would be in Japanese. The US version would be $23 more. Bull!!

BEWARE! Their website advertises free shipping. However, when they call to verify the order they first try pressure you to buy accessories. Then I was informed that the price was $258 and not $228 that I originally saw at checkout. They added a $30 handling/insurance charge that was "mandatory" (probably because I didn't buy any of the accessories). At first I didn't catch this difference because he said it so quickly on the phone ($258 sounds very similar to $228) but then I checked their website and realized they were overcharging me so I called back and canceled the order. I used a Virtual Account Number so I was able to close the number before I was charged. I should now be free from the deceptive practices of this company.

I would rather pay more than be hassled with "order verification" and "hidden charges". This deceptive "bait and switch" practice will be the end of this company.

Beware: bite and switch scam!
As others have described, the company asked me to call them after I placed an online order, then proceeded to try to upsell me by informing that the canon lens I purchased online at $1313 was an import version with only Japanese description (!!!) while an English version is $1499. I asked them to show me where this information is available online as I did not see it in the product description. The response was "in the about us" they would say that all products they sell are "international", not US. I followed to "about us" and pointed out that the information told on the phone still could not be found in the tab referred to. Then the sales rep. tried to distract me by changing the subject. When I kept focused by asking where is the "information" he was telling me available online I was told to write an email to the owner. We run into an increasingly heated dispute in which the sales rep. did not see anything wrong with his tactics, but I did. Eventually I hung up because he was not listening to my questions. Minutes later he unilaterally canceled my order by email ending with "Thank you for choosing Broadway Photo" - please note it's a name different than "topchoicedigital.com" I originally shopped with. I recall that another reviewer said there was a company with a bad reputation called "Broadway Photo" which is now trying to sell under a "better" name - "topchoicedigital.com", which is probably true concluding from my experience.

These guys are low-life scammers and liers. I ordered a Navigon 7100 GPS from them because of their low price and free shipping. I got an email from them telling me to call, and then received a call telling me that shipping was free but UPS charged a $20 handling fee for my order - what a load of crap. Obviously I cancelled the order and will not do business with them again. DEFINITELY AVOID THESE CROOKS.
