I came across what appeared to be a great deal on one of the price comparison sites for a Nikon Coolpix 3700. The vendor was www.starlightcamera.com. I ordered the camera online, and received an e-mail confirming my purchase.

I was called the next day and the guy proceeded to make the hard sell on memory cards and additional batteries. I didn’t want or need anything but the camera and he said it would be 7 or 8 business days to receive it. It is now two weeks later, I have received no camera and my credit card has not been charged. I called Starlight Camera and was connected to a man who did not want my “Order ID” number to check anything. All he wanted to know was what else I had purchased with the camera. I told him I hadn’t bought anything except the camera. He said to call my bank and see if I have been charged and call him back. I checked with the bank – I had still not been charged and called him back and told him that. He right away said that they did not have the camera in stock – he had never asked what camera or what my name was. He said he’d give me the name of another website to get the camera from and when I asked what the website was he hung up on me.

I suggest to anyone reading this, do not do business with www.starlightcamera.com! They are with out a doubt a bunch of crooks and they won't be there tomorrow if you know what I mean!! And that good review above has got to work for them.

It is now 12/03/04 and I still have not heard from them and don't want to at this point. I check my Visa account constantly to make sure they haven't billed me. Trash just trash.

Today I wanted a Nikon coolpix digital camera. I was kind of curious about the deal when I received the email confirming the order and it stating call to place order. I didnt call.(I didnt really plan to buy right away anyhow, I just wanted to know the total price. In order to get the total you must sign up, give credit card info, etc. So I gave an old card number that didnt work anymore to see if I could get the total. To my suprise, the order was placed...with the non-exsisting card.) They inturn called me the same day. (Left a message anyhow stating call them and his name and the ex# which was 201.) Well, then I did call. Curious I guess. It asked for the ex# and when I put it in it dirested me to # 217 instead.(oh well, they all work there right?)When he answered, I told him my name and he knew me right away. He "sent someone" to check if it was in stock, and it was. He then wanted to sell me a memory card. I said I didnt need it because it was a gift. He said ok, the item will be shipped in 6-8 weeks.(that didnt register yet)He wanted to hang up but I kept him on explaining how I might plan to purchase another in the near future and would they be in stock then. He said 2-3 weeks they would ge more.(What they only carry one, I thought.) We hung up and I checked the status online. It says,"Working Orders".(Whatever the hell that means.)I tried to email them, curious again, to see what it meant? Both addresses failed. Of course it is after hours so I cant call. So I started checking around on the internet. I put in the yahoo search "www.starlightcamera.com scams" and it lead me to here and many other sites. Good thing huh? One site states that they found from a business site that the domain name is registered to One man, and gives his home address and phone number. Look it up, it would be fun I think just to flood his home phone with "hate calls." Scare the hell out of him or something. I read on here also that people are sent to prison for what he does. ooooh, great idea. There is also a way to report him for such thing. (since I was scammed I wont, but it is a helpful tip to ones that have. Since he has your cc# he can buy what he wants that day.) Oh, but tomorrow is another day and business ours are "OPEN" so I will be calling just to have some fun! One simple consumer with the right resources can do more than they would expect. (By the way, my first phone call will be giving him this site so he can read what is to come since he is too chicken shit to talk on the phone or receive emails.)

Why dont we all join in. Come on, what can it hurt? Dont let them/him do this to anyone else!

(drats, killed my original review by posting this, ah well) See, I knew somebody would say that I worked for them, which is why I decided to check here now and then. I DO NOT WORK FOR STARLIGHTCAMERAS. Sheesh! As an update, my only gripe is that there was a rebate on the camera and they removed the UPC code so I wasn't able to take advantage of it. Another look at the camera on their site and it did say "price after rebate." I wonder how they are able to get the rebates, must have a large family ;) Bottom line for me: I wanted accessories anyways, and saved considerably by purchasing the camera AND their accessories, and it arrived in 4 business days..all new stuff, in box, etc. and everything works perfectly. I agree with everybody else that the people there are brash New Yorkers and their selling style is hardcore. I grew up there so I know how that all works. I guess if that's not your style, you would be best looking elsewhere. I'm happy with my purchase, sorry guys...what can I say? :p

This was the worst experience with an online retailer that I have ever had. The customer service was appalling. I was hung up on once, put on hold several times, and finally transferred to some jerk who wanted to just sell me accessories that I didn't want. When I told him that I didn't want the extra batteries, he told me that they were out of the product and that he was going to cancel my order. That was probably the best part of the conversation because I do not ever want to deal with this company again. I tried to email the company to give them a chance to explain but surprisingly enough, the two email addresses bounce the mail back.

Do NOT buy from starlight cameras! They have cheap camera prices, but they will not sell the camera alone. If you do not agree to buy their overpriced accessories, you will never see your camera. I ordered my camera on their website and you have to call to confirm. When I called and told them that I already owned the accessories, he said "you'll love your camera, I have the same one." When I didn't receive my camera, I called and was hung up on three times when I told them that I only purchased a camera no accessories. Any positive review of these people must be from people who purchased their overpriced accessories. BEWARE of this seller! I am filing a claim on with the better business bureau.

These guys are legitimate THIEVES!!! They are rude, obnoxious and will be going to HELL. I ordered a Panasonic PVGS-120 and they called me the next day trying to sell me a battery. They told me that the battery it came with would only last 20 minutes. I knew it was BS so I didn't bite. They then told me that the camera was not available and would cancel my order. Then they hung up. I called back to ask why they would try to sell me a battery for a camera they knew was not available. They got pissed at me for asking, I got pissed back and they said they were going to cancel my order and they would "Take care of me!" I take this as a threat as they have my credit card number. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE HELL-BOUND CROOKS.

I went to their site and ordered the Canon ZR90 for the unbelievable price of $318, minus $10 if I used a Discover card. They called me the next day and said that because of credit card fraud the credit card company wanted them to contact each online customer personally. He said what a beautiful camera it was and how he had one and how great it was and how pleased I would be with it. He then said that I had not ordered a battery with it. He then asked me what battery I wanted, the 2 hour or the 4 hour. I told him I didn't want an extra battery that I would use the one that came with it. He pestered me a couple more times about the battery, and when I would not give in, he rudely said that the camera wasn't in stock and that he canceled my order then he hung up without even waiting for a reply from me! I called back and went to sales and told the guy that answered that "James" had told me the camera was not in stock and this guy said " That camera isn't in stock. We don't take back orders, so what's the problem?", I asked him if they would be getting more in and he said "We don't have it, so that's it, forget about it!" then he hung up the phone on me!

I woulnd't buy ANYTHING from these bums no matter what the price and if it was indeed "available". The website shows all the accessories as either in-stock or out of stock, but it doesn't mention any stock levels on the cameras.

I ordered a nikon coolpix 4300 at the starlightcamera.com. Actually, I was about to click on cancel confirmation on the website but the order went thru anyway. It pissed me off. I am a programmer and this made me very suspicious. In addition, the site doesn't use https (encrypted secure transmission). In general, you SHOULD NEVER send any sensitive info thru http (non-encrypted). This was the reason I was about to click on the cancel order.

I got the email from starlightcamera with just a time and orderID, no tracking whatsoever. It asked me to call to arrage shipping. I called and a guy with accent answered the phone. As soon as when he heard I wanted to cancel the order, he said I should have made up my mind before order and claimed me as "young kid" or whatever it was. This made me angry and even more determined to demand a cancellation. He then said they charge you 5% for cancellation because they use Yahoo! etc (100% bullshit). He then hung up on me. I called again serveral times, and he hung up on me again and again after saying "your order is cancelled".

I then immediately cancelled my credit card number (god knows whom they gonna give away my cc numbers to!)

Simply put, DO NOT ORDER THRU THIS VENDOR. BE AWARE.

PS: I actually went to Brooklyn years back to check out those video/computer stores, they are very suspicious, people/service/products. Now I regret even getting on to the website.

I found this company through a Price Comparison site. Their price for the Olympus C-5060 was very low, but the ad stated it was a "Fourth of July" sale.

I purchased the item online, but when I received the email about my order, it stated I must call to confirm.

I called and was connected to a rude salesman who tried to talk me into purchasing additional items for the Olympus C-5060 camera. When I explained I did not need another memory card, and that I did not want to get another proprietary battery at this time, he got angry and said:

"Your order is cancelled. You're wasting my time. Get off my phone line."

If you purchase items from this company, I wish you luck if you ever need any customer service.

I tend to think that I am a pretty good shopper and I always shop around to get the best price. This is how I came across the "good deal" on StarLight camera.
But unfortunately I have had some serious doubts about my order I placed with StarLight photo. I ordered my camera well over 11 weeks ago (March 16th) and still no camera.
And just like the other people who have placed their comments on here, I didn't buy any of their expensive accessories so I am treated differently when I call to inquire about it every week. One of the first questions they ask is "did you order anything else with it" which makes you believe that if you had you would see the camera a lot faster. Why else would they ask that question??
They claim the camera has been discontinued by the manufacturer (Olympus C-750) therefore it is difficult to get in. I wonder how true this is and if I will ever see the camera??
Unfortunately I did give them my credit card number and I would like to cancel my order but I know they will slam me with cancelation fees. I really want this camera and I would like to have faith in the company, but never in my life have I waited two and a half months to get a product in.
I guess it would make me feel better if they called or e-mailed me to assure me that it is still coming and at least apologize for the delay, but instead we are treated rudely just for inquiring when it will be shipped.
After going to Street Prices website forum & this review forum I got even more nervous because how could so many people complain if it wasn't true that they are out to take advantage of people??
I also e-mailed them at the e-mail addresses listed along with some other ones I came across and nobody ever replies.
Waiting patiently and anxiously awaiting my new camera........ call me a dreamer, but I am still hoping to get it.
If you do work with StarLight camera and get this message and send my camera within the next several days, I will be sure to remit another comment saying that even though it took awhile, you did indeed honor your price and ship the product.

I have never recieved the product I ordered. I have cancelled my credit I card so that it will not be processed. I have attempted to contact the company several times via both phone and email. Yahoo should be ashamed of working with such a disreputable company. I addition I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Please cancel this order.

The service is awful. I still haven't received the Minolta diMAGE Z1 that I ordered. I ordered it at about the 17th of April, and here it is a month later and I still haven't received it. When I first ordered it there was a slot for my phone number, but I don't like putting my phone number online, so I left it with just some slashes in it so it would let me order w/o putting my # in. Well, I didn't know that I had to talk to them on the phone to 'confirm' my order. They never told me that or said it anywhere on their site. So a couple weeks after that I decided to call to see what was going on, because I never received any e-mail or anything after ordering my camera. They then confirmed it and asked me if I wanted to buy any accessories, I declined and told them I had everything I needed. That was it and they told me they would ship it in 1 to 2 days. Well, a couple weeks after that, I still hadn't received my camera, so I called them again. The salesman rudely told me that I needed an order number, which I didn't need the first time I called, so that seemed strange. So he said he couldn't help me w/o my order number. So I went online to the site to see if there was any way that I could find my 'order number' there was nothing, and I had never gotten one after I ordered the camera. So then a couple days later I called again to see if they would tell me anything w/o an order number, and they did. They told me that it was back ordered. They didn't really seem to be sure of how long it would be, they said kind of generally, 2 weeks. On the website it doesn't say that it's out of stock, back ordered, or anything. I think that's very misleading. So, needless to say, I'm still waiting for the camera, seriously considering cancelling my order, and very dissastisfied with the company and their website. Do not buy from this site just because it has low prices, they're a HORRIBLE choice, and unfortunately, I didn't know better. So save yourself time and just buy somewhere else.

Just telephoned them to check our order status, we ordered a sony dcr-pc105 last weekend. The man on the phone was incredibly rude and told me that the camera was 'back ordered', when I asked how long for he said 'your guess is as good as mine' in a very insolent manner. We have called back to cancel this order as he could give me no indication of a delivery date, number of weeks or months. I am disgusted with the appalling level of service and we regret trying to get a good deal. Do not use this company.
