Overall I have been please with Target and target.com. Their in store staff are trained a lot better than their competitors. I do have one complaint, they sometimes take orders and preorders on target.com for items that are not yet in stock. They give you a delivery estimate and they ussually don't meet it. But for items in stock and shopping in store they are great

I needed to order an item online for a friends babyshower. I did not receive free shipping even though my order met the requirements. I ordered a baby playset which I paid to have gift wrapped, and a shower curtain which I did NOT pay to have gift wrapped. When the baby playset arrived it was not wrapped at all! It was in some kind of Target mesh bag that was almost twice as big as the playset. Very tacky! Also the shower curtain was gift wrapped even though I did not request or pay for the gift wrap. I will not buy online from Target again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else. They just don't seem to have their act together! To make things even worse UPS beat the sh!t out of the box! While that is not Targets fault I find it aggravating that I cannot choose Fed-Ex instead of UPS for the shipping.

I always like going into their stores. I was upset to find out that when they would not match the price of their own website prices in store. Ended up forcing me to buy online when I was at the store ready to purchase it on the spot.

Target B&M is great to shop at - no problems there at all. Shopping online with them is not a good experience at all. I needed to return an item becuase it was defective (it was a rug, so why they even shipped it to me when it looked as it did is another mystery). Getting through the return process was a major challenge. In two past orders, the billing was incorrect and I needed to call to get an adjustment.  
I'll continue to shop Taget B&M, but will not be using their online store again. Way too much of a hassle given the fact that they usually charge more than other sites once delivery is factored in.

Target.com has the items we want for a reasonable price but somehow they always manage to screw up our order. Sometimes it takes 2 weeks or longer than promised to deliver. Then they deliver 2 of the same items for which we were charged as well until the items were returned. This time they delivered the wrong item and delivered an extra item as well. It's a hassle to get it returned.

On December 8th, 2005 I ordered a "Revlon Moisture Stay Paraffin Bath" as a Christmas present for my wife. Target's website showed the item in stock, but when I received their order confirmation it gave the estimated shipping date as January 20th, 2006!!! It didn't even list it as backordered or anything. Needless to say, I canceled the order. This is *THE LAMEST* experience I've ever had shopping online. Kudos to Target for a new benchmark.

Web site fails to mention that they are out of stock on the items I ordered. I get an email saying not to reply and that I can't cancel the order and the projected delivery date is > a month from the order date.  
 
No way to contact them. The "contact us" information is just a run-around self help system that doesn't do what I want (cancel the order).  
 
And they want to put my personal information with Amazon? Now why would I want that? I don't like Amazon and only delt with them once.  
 
Target is off my list of on-line stores.

All and in a great store. Good selection and moderately priced. It's very conveniently located for many, mainly due to the numerous locations. More than Wal-Mart.  
 
Haven't had too many problems. Buy lots of daily use stuff, some junk food, sometimes some games (game consoles), etc...  
 
Haven't had any problems with the very few returns that I've done.

12/22/03 update: Found a telephone number 1-800-776-4444 which lets you speak to a person regarding your target.com purchase. Apparently when I chose ground shipping, to them that meant Postal Service and not UPS or FEDEX ground. So as of right now, my package is not trackable and still hasn't arrived after 10 USPS working days.

It has been 10 days since my order on the 9th. I was told 3-7 days shipping (the 10th), with plenty of time for the holidays. As of today I am still waiting. I have been given a tracking number, but who knows what it means? It's definitely not a UPS, FEDEX, or Airborne number. It's not a number used by any of the sources given on their tracking page.  
 
Site has a runaround feature that never allows you to find a telephone number to call. Also, Target.com's login feature is one of the worst in the industry. Not only does it keep asking for your password, even when entered correctly, but every step of the way has you re-entering information with every new page loaded. Ack!

Horrible quality of Merchandise. Ordered a set of $150 TV Trays. The trays are poorly made and the stand is ridiculously poor quality when assembled.  
 
Worse, when I gave the item a 2 star rating on their site (more than it deserved) they never posted my rating. Then when I saw someone else give the item a 4 star rating (previous average was 5 stars) the 4 star rating was only up for a day or two before they REMOVED that one TOO!  
 
What nerve.  

Don't really have a lot to say about Target. My wife just needed a new vacuum badly because the old one really sucked... er, didn't. After reading a bunch of reviews online I decide to go with the Eureka 4870HZ and Target had the best overall price. I checked an actual store first but they didn't seem to carry it. Target.com got it to us in about a week though and it works great.
