You really can not go wrong with Digital Storm. I've had my Digital Storm computer for almost a month now and it is running great! The look of the computer is very clean, inside and out. Digital Storm at the time of my order was the only online computer company that I could find that had an A+ rating from the BBB. With all the reviews I read, not just from Digital Storms own forums, but a ... Read More

Digital Storm is fantastic.

In the past, I've built my own gaming rigs so I could get the parts just the way I wanted them. This time around I couldn't find the time, but DS did a better job than I do anyway. They had every part I wanted and more, they would have gotten it for me if I didn't have it and they built, burned in and overclocked the thing for about 15% over the cost of the parts - a really good deal compared with other custom gaming machines.

The forums are active with satisfied customers and employees. I had lots of questions and I asked them via e-mail, phone, forum and live online chat. All were answered quickly and accurately.

But where DS really stood out was when there was a problem. The machine came damaged and after patiently working with me on the phone, it became apparent that the motherboard had been damaged during shipping and needed to be replaced. Before I could even ask if they were going to make me pay for shipping, the customer service rep volunteered that "of course" they would cover shipping both ways. Like everybody else, I've had trouble with mail order tech and it's always a fight to avoid some BS "restocking fee." I can't remeber the last time a company picked up shipping both ways.

So not only did they fix the problem, they kept me notified every step of the way, just like with the original build. I recieved at least 7 e-mails from them both with the original build and with the repair. They overclocked it even faster than before and now it works great!

I will definitely buy from them again and I strongly recomend them.

My experience with Digital Storm has been excellent. The price was excellent, the service was quick, customer service has been prompt and well-informed, and I've had no technical trouble with the computer in the time I've had it. I've really gotten the sense that I'm being serviced by people, giving me personal attention, unlike some other companies I've bought computers from in the past.

There's an old adage: Sell the sizzle not the steak. Digital Storm's computer systems are filet mignon Angus select beef their incredible sizzle for perfection has not been seen on this plane of existence (perhaps in heaven?). In this day and age of "economic downturn", cost cutting, quality sparing, caveat emptor, Digital Storm is more like the Deus Ex Machina. They never wavered on anything they said they could and/or would do. Their systems, in my considered professional opinion, far surpass any competition I reviewed. Moreover, they are consumate professionals and the very definition of integrity. I bought the best system bar none, refined, perfected and absent "crapware" accompanied with first class binder/manual as well as obsessive compulsive rigorous testing prior to delivery. The one problem that did pop up, my fault NOT theirs, they patiently, expertly analyzed via internet online analyses and "walked me through" the procedures to restore the system. Now, I am a recognized expert professional in Forensic Toxicology, having testified in federal and state courts, so when I say Digital Storm is professional from concept to turn key delivery, please accept my judgement. You can always tell a pro, they make the impossibly difficult child's play. A further note re: service, they treated me as if I were their only customer and they made me feel that way from start to finish.

For the record I wrote another review earlier this morning. After massaging what I put down, I felt I owed DS a good deal more praise. So much so that if tomorrow morning I feel this review in any way inadequate I will write another. That's the way Digital Storm has treated me, I owe them no less. Thank you all for this opportunity. It is an hono, a privilege, and a "hoot" to write in praise of a deserving business.

Everything about the experience was fantastic. I did some research to figure out where I could find a "dream rig" at an affordable price, but through a company that didn't skimp on customer service. I found several reviews that spoke very highly of their customer service and it continued on their customer forums. So far I have only had to speak with someone once and it was a very quick, easy affair. It left me with a great impression.

I built the machine I wanted on several sites, but the only one that I really felt had everything I wanted, the way I wanted, was Digital Storm.

After deciding to go through Digital Storm, I looked through their "Special Deals" and actually found a model with everything I wanted and ended up saving $500 and they threw in free shipping.

I will definitely be buying from Digital Storm again and I would highly recommend them.

This is a followup to my previous post. Despite the nice response here from "Alex", when it comes to laptops, this is a bait and switch company. They described the machine as Digital Storm, built by DS technicians, they sent emails making believe they were actually working on it there, then they sent a premade off the shelf Asus machine - that is not what they are representing. It was not what we ordered. Customer service to resolve this has been terrible and unresponsive. I had to foot the $45 to ship it back to them, and then when they finally got around to issuing a refund, they deducted $84.00 from the total! That is not a total refund! I could go on about the nightmare of dealing with these guys - if you bought one from them and are happy, that's great, I consider you lucky - but if you have not, buyer beware. If they value their customers so much, as Alex says, they sure haven't shown it with us. Had they just described on the website what their laptops really are, we could have avoided all this. Of course, if we had known, we would have ordered elsewhere. By the way, we have done that with another company and got what we ordered and are quite happy with it.

Digital Storm always endeavors to make sure our customers are taken care of and that their purchasing experience with Digital Storm is an enjoyable one. I am disheartened to hear that your experience has not been so, thus far.

We are not in the business of "bait and switch" tactics. Digital Storm recognized that the laptops ASUS had created were an extremely exciting product that our customers would love to own. We then purchased these laptops from ASUS, pre-configured as they are not sold as barebones laptops, and offered them to our customers. Thus far, the response has been very positive.

Like every other system builder, Digital Storm sometimes purchases pre-built laptops from manufacturers. To protect our brand we do not buy from suspect manufacturers that is why when our customers purchase pre-built laptops from us they can rely on the quality of the product.

ASUS is one of the best known and well respected names in computing so you can trust the laptop you purchased is of the highest quality. Not only do you have that to backup the quality of the laptop you also have the Digital Storm warranty and life-time tech support to protect your investment.

You requested a refund and to take care of you as a customer we went ahead refunded you minus the reduced credit card transaction fee of 4.9% and you had to pay for return shipping. The reason you incurred these charges is because Digital Storm delivered to you the exact laptop that you wanted from our website down to the color of the chassis to the hardware inside the laptop all in perfect working condition. This is what all customers consider an ideal transaction. We are sorry that we no longer have you as a customer and we wish you the best.

Update: 9/23/2009

Taking into consideration of the customer, since they were still very unhappy with this resolution, we did a one time credit of the processing fee, and refunded the customer $84.00USD as of 9/23/2009.

Warm Regards,
Alex

Although the system I ordered is working at the moment I did encounter the following problems.
1. The video card had come loose during shipping. I would suggest that you ask them to fasten it with a screw rather than using the flimsy clip on the case.
2. The wrong harddrive had been set in the BIOS as the boot drive. I had to correct that to boot the preinstalled copy of windows.
3. After a restart I lost USB capability and the PC was very slow to boot (3 minutes just at the POST screen). I completely powered down, unplugged the powercord and then tried again. Worked fine this time so not sure what the problem was. Just hope it stays that way.
4. Advertised overclock was 3.8 GHz, received a call (very nice) that they could only achieve 3.7 GHz and was that ok. I actually received the unit overclocked to 3.56 GHz (not a big deal really).

Customer Service is very good. My call was returned within 2 hours and the tech I spoke to was polite and ready to help. Overall I would definitely recommend them.

I am glad to hear that you are happy with the computer you purchased from Digital Storm. I am sorry, however, that you experienced a few issues with your computer; our company strives to make sure every computer that is shipped out is top quality.

It was unfortunate that your video card came loose during shipping, this is a rare occasion, but none the less we no longer use clips to secure the video card in place, but always screws. The dislodged video card, however, is an indication to me that your computer had a slightly rough trip in route to you.

Your computer would not have left our facility with your Windows installation not being first in the boot order. Our technicians constantly test your computer and it would be inefficient for them to test your computer with your Windows drive not being your boot drive. I am surprised that you had this issue, but, I am glad that you got the boot order straightened out and are now up and running.

Concerning your overclock, the reason your computer may be reading that you currently have a 3.56GHz overclock instead of the 3.7GHz you should have, is because of Intel's Turboboost Technology. The Intel processor ramps down performance when the computer is idle and then ramps up when the CPU is under stress. Your computer will ramp up to 3.7GHz when you are playing games or running any other intensive software.

I'm glad that you had a good buying experience from Digital Storm and as a company we appreciate your review as we are always looking for ways to improve our process so that we constantly deliver a perfect product.

Warm Regards,
Alex

I ordered a computer from digital storm after weeks of looking online at review sites and almost going crazy. I have ordered my pc's every couple years and have always went with Gateway. I decided I wanted a real nice gaming rig this year so i started looking at Alien ware and Falcon Northwest and other big name vendors. As I was looking i kept seeing comments from people about DS. I saw DS over and over again. DS, DS, DS, DS. SO i thought what is DS. I looked them up and saw there systems. They were cheaper than the Big gaming computer sites but more than some others. I went to there forums area and that was all it took for me. I saw amazing reviews from guys who had bought from DS and they had pictures of what they had ordered. I put a few post on there forums and had my questions answered so fast. I received my pc a day early. I saw the fedex man rolling my pc end over end out of the truck and i screamed at him that it was a computer. I was almost sick cause i knew it would not work now. But after i opened the box and saw how it was packed, i had no worries about it working. It fired right up and has been running super super fast. I will always order my future computers from Digital Storm without a doubt, And im recommending it to all my friends and they are all going with my recommendations as i am the computer guy amongst my family and friends. Do yourself a favor DO NOT go with the cheaper sites.

I recently purchased a new computer from Digital Storm because the computer that I had was getting old and slow. Games that ran smoothly just lagged to the point it became frustrating to play. I was able to talk to a sales rep from DS to talk about the many options that were available to me. He was very knowledgeable and voiced his opinion to stop me from getting parts that really were not needed, he wasn't just out to make some money. Customer service keeps you posted throughout the build process, sending emails letting you know when your new rig has progressed to the next phase of the build. And when I got the rig, everything was perfect. It has been running rock solid for about a week now and I have not had any issues.

I found out about Digital Storm from a few reviews of their systems on the internet. I then checked their reviews on this site and liked how people seemed to be very satisfied with the company both before and after the delivery of their system. Then I went to Digital Storm's website and read through different areas and found that everyone at the company and their customers were passionate about the company and in helping any newbies get the right system for them and to help with any issues that came up after the purchase.

I ordered a specific configuration on 8/11/09. I received numerous updates on my system's build. When I noticed a discrepancy with the bios number (it didn't exist) I got an phone call back that day from a tech apologizing... it was just a typo and making sure that they were taking care of all of my specific requests on my system. My system was delivered on 8/18 in perfect working order with the latest bios and drivers. Everything was done per my instructions. The packaging was superb and protected the large heat sink and dual video cards perfectly. The only thing missing were some screws to attach the roller feet to the case (I decided that would work better for me that the standard feet). A call to DS connected me to a customer service person in about 30 seconds. I got an apology and a bag of the correct screws arrived a few days later.

Personally, I have never dealt with a company that has been as responsive, professional and helpful with all phases of ordering, technical help and post delivery issues. DS has proven that a great staff makes for a great experience for the customer.

I do want to reinforce that DS is a rare company that gives you a 3 year warranty and lifetime tech support even though they overclock many of their systems!! My processor is overclocked and yet my system has been 100% stable even during some long game playing sessions. DS ensures that your system is stable before sending it to you. So now I have a computer that is fast, stable and the peace of mind that plenty of support is available if any issue arises.

I look forward to a long relationship with Digital Storm.

For Months i Searched for a great deal for a great computer, I looked at Alienware, XPS, other random places, then i seen DIGITAL STORM on a search i did for Gaming computers, and i was hooked at the freedom they give to you to make your Dream computer. You can even ask for things they dont have on the website and they will charge a little YES but that means its like building your own in your own home without the actuall building or installing and stress testing, they do all the work. I ordered mine on August 11th 09' and signed for it the 21st. I would recommend this company to anyone. and when im ready for an upgrade i will send it back to Digital storm because they upgrade for Price of parts thats all!!... I talked to Eric when i ordered mine , he is awesome at answering questions and acting like a person and not a guy that hates helping people like some of the other computer places. Speaking of helping, The Digital Storm Forums have alot of awesome people who love to help with any questions to prepare you to build your computer, Thank you " DST4ME " for helping so much........... So just go to the website digitalstormonline.com and go build your computer. my Configuration number was 320052.. so if you want to see what i built and order the same thing then type that number in and it will bring up my exact build and Price ... Good Luck! i LOVE my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Digital Storm for existing!!!!!!!!!!!!

After months of vacillating on buying a desktop to be used solely for gaming, I was leaning toward Alienware, but decided to search the internet for other makers. I settled on Digital Storm for the reputation of customer service and standing by their work. Also, the price of the system I wanted was finally discounted to the point that I had to pull the trigger. The computer was built and delivered on time and I appreciated the emails during the building and testing phase, letting me know what was happening.

Every thing worked as expected until the fourth day when the computer kept spontaneously shutting down. I called DS customer service. The tech was extremely helpful and was relatively quickly able to figure out the problem. I ordered the computer with the CPU overclocked which required liquid cooling. The cooling system was leaking.

I sent the system back to DS at their cost and they quickly repaired the system and upgraded the liquid cooling system. I asked them to add a redundant CD/DVD drive and they did for the $39 dollars listed on the website. They promptly shipped the system back at their cost and it has been performing well ever since. I have been very pleased with my choice.

To tell you the truth I spent weeeks looking up builders, trying configurations, pricing, and had made up my mind. Then I came across an ad for Digitalstorm a quick look at there site, they had my build as a prebuilt, a check at Resellerrating and a look thru there forums (a great resource) I was sold. Placed my order online DS staff contacted me promptly verified a few things and 3 days later my new system arrived. Wonderful build quality, Great service, and a 3 year warranty. Ordered a dual boot computer because I did not want to take any chances that Vista would not operate my peripherals. Ordering process was smooth and received the computer ahead of estimated date. First problem I noticed upon booting was that not all the software I had ordered was installed onto the XP side of the computer. Took several emails to customer service (not all the associates at Digital Storm are knowledgeable as to software policies at Microsoft) to get the software glitch straightened out. Microsoft in it's infinite wisdom does not provide discs for all its software. So Digital Storm had to send me the disc to install the software. Next concern was that I had no method to obtain the upgrade to Windows 7 mentioned on the web site. Here again, the associate I communicated w/ at Digital Storm was no help. Turns out computer manufacturers are providing a upgrade coupon, but at an additional cost that's rolled into the computer price. Microsoft doesn't give anything away for free. So far, no problem w/ the hardware, but customer service, especially in regards to knowledge of software policies is suspect. Operation of the computer I would give an "A", Digital Storm support probably "C+ to B-". Bottom line - trust, but verify.

Digital Storm prides itself on not only building the highest quality gaming computers, but also maintaining stellar customer service. We would like to sincerely apologize to this customer that certain software was not installed on your XP partition. We have a thorough Quality Assurance department that has prevented such errors from occurring for quite some time, so this mistake is unusual, but it will be investigated so as to prevent it from ever reappearing in another customers computer.

We employ one of the most knowledgeable and experienced US Based tech support staffs of any computer gaming manufacturer, however, the Windows 7 coupon and the rules pertaining to its usage and application are questions that really should be answered by Microsoft. I do not want to give people the impression that Digital Storm is "passing the buck" in this situation, but this coupon offering is solely a Microsoft promotion, Microsoft is bundling the coupon with copies of Windows Vista not Digital Storm.

In addition, as a company Digital Storm is not even allowed to install Windows 7 on a customer's computer yet, this would a violation of license agreement we have with Microsoft, therefore our employees have no knowledge from Digital Storm about how to obtain Windows 7.

I understand your frustration and the reason for your slightly less than very positive review I wanted to explain to you and our other customers why Digital Storm's hands, as a company, are really tied in this situation.
However, I am heartened to read that you've had an overall extremely good experience with our company; you received your PC earlier than expected and it has operated flawlessly. I believe that if you do have future dealings with our customer service support you will come to see that they are the best in the industry.

Alex

I'll let my email to my friends speak for itself.

Guys,

I ordered a new PC and just got it this monday. It is without a doubt the best PC i have ever owned. If you choose to buy a new one in the coming months/years consider going with them.

http://www.digitalstormonline.com/gamingcomputers.asp

i honestly cannot praise them enough. There about 15% more than cyberpower and 5% more than dell, but worth every penny.

you also get the following that neither offer.

- a full restore CD
- lifetime technical support
- 3 year parts and warranty (as opposed to 1 year).
- they do a full 3 day burn in. memory test, OS test, 3dmark test.
- install the newest drivers (which both other vendors certainly do not.)
- along with them shooting you about 10 emails along the way, during the build process.

I have worked in IT for 9 years, these guys are proffesional, there PC building process is damm near identical to what i went through building servers for a Federal Bank.

If your gonna buy a new PC, go with DS !

I recently just purchased a new computer from Digital Storm, and I gotta say, the customer service experience and quality of the product are both excellent and superior.

During the build process, they sent me progress reports detailing exactly what they were doing and what stage they were in while building my computer. I was quite surprised as no other company I have purchased a computer from has done this for me. It also eased a lot of the anticipation I was having knowing what exactly was going on and how soon my computer will be shipped.

As soon as I got my new machine I opened the package and and inspected it. It was quite clear that Digital Storm has taken the utmost care and attention to detail when building my machine that it is by far the most perfected build of machinery I've purchased in the world of computers.

Once I got everything up and running, I began installing new video games and doing stress tests of my own. My computer is perfectly and I was given exactly what I was promised.

I am a satisfied customer of DSO and would rate my experience 10/10.
