btotech.com have sold me an ASUS G73Jh-A2 with an i7-820QM Engineering Sample (ES) CPU, instead of the Retail/OEM CPU, which I paid for.
I emailed btotech.com to ask them if they had accidentally sent me an i7-820QM ES processor instead of the OEM/Retail one which I paid for.
They told me that they had not made a mistake, and have admitted to passing off ES CPUs as Retail/OEM CPUs, so I hope that everyone reading this can jump to the correct conclusions.

This cpu is not available in the retail channel in north america. The only thing we admited to was having a chinese supplier which was the only source of this product at the time of your purchase. Your laptop was tested thouroughly and found 100% functional as any other laptop we send that is customized. You were offered a 100% refund with return shipping pre paid. Why not take us up on the offer? You purchased a product that was not availavble anywhere in the states at time of delivery and you rated us negative on every aspect despite a super quick transit and instant reply to communication. Please accept my apology and return this product for a full refund. Please revise your feedback to accurately match your experience. You rated us negative even on shipping times. This seems like a retaliatory feedbeck after reading your survey. |

Very dissatisfied with my purchase. I bought the R1f-K018T tablet for my daughter for christmas. It arrived quickly and I spent christmas eve loading her sims2 on it. The next day when I went to hook her ipod up to it the usb port did not read it. I tried an external drive and a psp and none of the three usb ports would read. I am very disappointed that I can not get this replaced without sending it to Asus. And all I got from this store is that I was rude and sending borderline hatemail because I was very upset and regreting that I did not purchase a tablet from a local store that I could just go in and tell them of this problem and get one that worked properly.
I will never purchase another big ticket product online or from this company due to the fact if something is wrong with it I can not take it back and get it replaced. I was told by this company I was not the first one to get a "D.O.A. system and I wont be the last". But this will be my last time that I have to deal with going through all of this on a product that don't work properly after purchase. I will stick with 14 day return policy at local stores or the 30-90 return policies. This quoted statement from this company: There is no reason to direct anything but a "thank you for your prompt reply" because that is all that i can offer you.
Is even more upseting to me from a company that sold me a product that did not work properly and wondering why I am uspet about having to get it serviced than getting it replaced. If I wanted to
deal with a brand new computer getting serviced after purchase I could have bought a used one.

So I ordered this computer 2 1/2 years ago and it had been running fine up until now. I even took my own proactive steps (air dusting bi-monthly etc.) to try to prolong the life of this computer to maybe 5 years. Instead, 3 weeks ago the CPU overheats and from there it went downhill. A week ago the CPU just died out. The computer wouldn't start so I thought it was maybe a power supply issue. It wasn't. Immediately ordered a new CPU because thats what I thought it was next. Then I remembered I ordered this computer from these guys and wanted to see if they had any insight (Such as if any other customers experienced similar problems). Instead, I talk this guy named Eddie who acts like a know-it-all, when in reality, Geek Squad from Best Buy knows more than he does. He assured me numerous times that its not the CPU, as that rarely occurs with CPUs. The first thing Geek Squad told me was after explaining the situation that the CPU probably went downhill after the over heat.
Long story short, this company is run by incompetent knuckleheads. They sell exactly what the spec say, but if you ever need to deal with a problem, expect plenty smart-ass remarks. You'll be better off buying it from a more reputable store, one that doesn't have a tech support team consisting of a few fools that think they are omnipotent. That doesn't mean I'm saying go to BestBuy and let the Geeks choose one for you, but rather I am telling to think twice before making a purchase. You may or may not get a sh*tty product, but either way if you have a problem with it, you'll have to deal with know-it-all support that does NOT know-it-all.

Disgruntled customer did not like the fact that he was told the odds of the cpu failing vs. the motherboard is 1 to 100. He takes into his own hands and replaces the cpu which to his delight was actually broken. Take your odds to a poker table and see if you make any money. Conversation and attitude of the customer went downhill when i explained it is out of dealer warranty. Under normal use the cpu is the LEAST likely part to fail. Customer self admitted over clocker and has tampered with the system. He seems to think that my advice of checking the mianboard first before the cpu is not accurate. Go figure. Mr. “I have a college degree I know what I am doing” thinks he knows how to diagnose a no post no diagnostic situation. You need about 10 more years of experience to figure out that belittling me by email because i gave correct advice was retaliatory. You also forgot to mention that all your emails and phone calls were answered promptly and professionally. Offered customer free estimate and diagnostic if pc returned to us however his reply took a different stance once his new cpu fixed the issue. |

Ok, shipping was real fast I guess. I ordered z62f on 05/26 and had it delivered on 05/31 (esp. that Monday was a Memorial day). The notebook seems what it should be, there are no dead pixels and it works fine so far.
There were no issues in contacting and getting (maybe not the friendliest)feedback on questions and issues and prices are reasonable as well.
However, please be advised that you don't really get what you expect and they could be more honest with that. So here's my follow up with what they guys have missed out from the review regarding Z62f.
Palmrest and the bottom get really, uncomfortably hot speakers are virtually nonexistent and disappointing
DVD is also noisy; and recording speed very slow (took 11-12 minutes to record 700MB audio CD!
and besides you never really know what you get there. Eddie argues it's just DVD RW, however, all the properties indicate it's DVD RAM. on the outside it says "Multi Burner". So, good luck in figuring out whatever your Z62f will come with.
The casing is made out of plastic (not the best quality I've seen).
built in web cam is just a toy and don't really count on that
(it still remains mystery whether its 0.3 or 1.3 mega pixels as different sites and reviews state differently.
Below the webcam it says "MEGAPIXEL". which is quite strange (why wouldn't that put the number there? I suspect it's only 0.3 (similar strategy to cell phone manufacturers, who put "VGA" instead of actual number).
In sum, the notebook is quite bulky. heavy compared to the majority of 14 inch laptops out there and it is sad that customers are not provided with more honest review and description of the product.
Do not buy this laptop if you are into design and neat staff. you will be dissapointed. However, you you are into horsemachine, that can be upgraded easily, Z62f is for you and geared2play.com is the best place to get it.

This site is called resellerratings not notebook ratings. This all started with you being extremely unhappy that now your brand new notebook is 100$ cheaper then it was one week ago. Sorry but this happen over a week after you signed for it. Price adjustment good before delivery. False advertising is a plain slap in the face considering the page you purchased it on had a full review with weight and size. |

The Product: Asus W3A laptop
Came neatly packed, free carrying bag, free wireless mouse. But, I thought the software bundle is useless for a laptop.
Logistics:
For the price I paid, I expected a much faster shipping. Even though I didn't order one with the OS loaded, the turn around time was still quite a while. I don't think it takes more than 48 hours just to assemble a laptop.

Your order was received on march 8th after mid day. Your order was shipped on March 15th to California. Transit from New York to Cali takes 5 BUSINESS days just like turn around time. This review should start with "i did not take time to read or ask questions but i am not happy anyways". |

Ordered my laptop from BTOTech.com on the Friday before Labor Day weekend. Received my laptop on the following Thursday. The product was not customized but I was very impressed with the speed of shipping. The only problem with the order was that Asus dropped the price on the laptop I ordered and BTOTech.com was charging $80 less than what I paid by the time the laptop arrived. I discussed this with Eddie, of BTOTech, who said that it is store policy to not offer refunds after the product has shipped. Although a refund would probably be expected from a larger store, I am not complaining too much as BTOTech's prices are already a good $50 less, and Eddie offered me a $40 store credit. Overall, a very good experience.

Just wanted to correct a minor detail. I said "we do not have price protection after product has delivered". We do infact allow product returns after they have been delivered. I offered a 40$ store credit half the cost of the lower price |

Overall shopping experience was good - responses to questions were quick, and the purchase went through very quickly once we passed a couple of technical difficulties (from my end, since I was placing the order from overseas)
My only gripe I have with BTOTech/Geared2play is (as I believe has been brought up in other comments) that customer service is somewhat lacking in approachability. In other words, responses can sometimes be brusque making one feel unwelcome.
I know that the people working at BTO have a lot of experience at what they do, but when I had some technical issues after I got the laptop, I did not appreciate them hinting that the problem was possibly caused by installing AVG (antivirus), Zonealarm (firewall), and Firefox (browser).
True, sometimes software DOES cause problems, but just because they don't use firewall/antivirus/alternate browser doesn't mean that other's can't - and I certainly didn't appreciate their deleting my post explaining my reasons for using 3rd party software.
(for those who are interested, the issue concerned error messages that came up after installing drivers for the Intel Turbo Memory chip - and I resolved it by updating the BIOS)
Bottom line - I would say that they are trustworthy and quick to deliver (in terms of hardware). However customer support relations are also important for any company and that is an area they really need to work on.
EDIT: I am sincerely trying to remain civil but I believe that BTO's reply amply illustrates my point about "approachability". Note that I'm not throwing stones or otherwise trying to undermine credibility here - I did not say that you were slow to get a hold of, in fact I specifically stated that you are trustworthy and responded to questions quickly.
I'm merely commenting on the fact that your attitude comes across as making one feel unwelcome, particularly when I challenged your diagnosis of the issue.
I won't add anymore save to say that I did perform a clean reinstall of the OS without adding any 3rd party apps during the course of my troubleshooting (which did NOT work, whereas a BIOS update solved the issue). For those who are interested, I posted about the issue on the Asusforum site http://geared2play.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1955 (if the thread itself doesn't get deleted as well) and if anyone wants to contact me for clarification I can also be PM'd at the notebookreview forums.

Excellent service, prompt reply's and always available on the forums and Live Messenger. It is hard to find an international seller that ships to Australia and they do this without hesitation and used UPS who are very quick, package only arrived in 4 days including customs clearance!
Would not hesitate to use again and can only recommend their services to anyone wishing to purchase an ASUS notebook, especially if you are international as they really know what they are doing!

I pre-ordered an Asus G73JH-A1 laptop from BTOTech on January 29, 2010. Since Asus has always delayed the shipment of this particular model, my order was served on March 9, 2010 and I received it on March 13, 2010 here in the Philippines. That's pretty much faster than any other reseller I've heard of! I will definitely recommend them especially if you're ordering from outside the U.S.A. 5 days UPS Expedited shipping for only $140 is definitely a lot cheaper than other resellers.
Their live support on the website and email support are both topnotch. You can even receive an email reply from them after two minutes (assuming you emailed them during their working hours)!
They also tested my laptop first for possible defects before sending out to me. Compared to other big stores or resellers that do not perform stress testing on laptops, I would definitely give BTOTech a thumbs up for this additional service.
Eddie is particularly nice to talk with. He will answer all of your inquiries no matter how stupid your questions might seem to be. He even kept his word and did not charge me for additional fees charged by Paypal (even if it meant they're almost break-even with my order). They are highly technical and knows their trade very well. You can even ask for advices regarding your new laptop or other computer related issues you might encounter.
I will definitely order again from BTOTech.

I made an exception in your case because of the mistake in your initial order (prior to this one) where the unit reserved for you turned out to be faulty. Slight delay in order processing, even though I chose rush order, but they made up for it with overnight shipping, and constant status updates. These guys are enthusiasts, enjoy what they do, and are very good at it. This is the second laptop I've purchased from them, and I've been very pleased with the results both times. They're very responsive to emails, forums, &c, and are generous with the advice. Highly recommended.

This is my first internet shopping experience. I think I am lucky to have it with BTOTech. I bought Asus G51J-A1 with the lowest price in the internet. Guys in BTOTech where very helpful and honest. I had a lot of problems in payment, wire transfer was not allowed from Pakistan, so I had to do it from Qatar. we had one week EID holidays in Qatar, the payment was received by Techspot 30$ short due to bank cuttings and after 5 days of the order, still they reserved my unit and accepted the payment. The laptop was shipped after 2 or 3 hours of the clear payment and I had it within 4-5 days safe and sound. Their response to my emails was very fast and was always there to give me the advise. If I am going for Asus I will definitely come here. Thanks a lot BTO, good job and keep it up.

This was definately the most awesome shopping experience i have ever had, even after a lot of problems from my side with bank transfers and delays (I am in South Africa) these guys were very understanding and more than happy to help. The notebook arrived quickly, was shipped the day the money cleared and was received in 4/5 working days. This is better service than I have received from even some local e-retailers. I would highly recommend using BTOTECH.COM for absolutely any purchase. I am reluctant to blow smoke up their rears as often reviews like that seem false, but these guys really are that good. Thanks so much for an incredible shopping experience.
