I've ordered from JCWhitney several times in the past and had no problems. But the last time was the last time. I was leaving for a trip across country the next week and I ordered a few things I needed for the trip. I paid $5 extra for expedited shipping. The order was placed the 24th, but was not shipped until the 28th. And it was shipped via regular ground shipping, not expedited shipping like I paid for. JCWhitney did not give me a refund for the shipping. This was enough to make me a customer of Summit Racing.

I ordered an oil pan for my jeep and rush shipped it to get the repair done before the holiday weekend. The pan came, I rushed it to the shop making the repair. The shop called me back letting me know the pan was damaged. I called J.C. Whitney early the day we were leaving, they said they would send me a shipping label and the package would be ground shipped to them then they would ground ship me another one (I had paid for rushed shipping). I missed my trip. I sent the pan back, Over a week later I called them, they had received the pan but had not shipped out the new one. They said they would give me the same two day shipping and get the new one back. I finally got the replacement pan, it was the exact same dented oil pan the sent me the first time. I was quite upset and called J.C. Whitney, they said they would overnight me a new one. I called in the day it was to arrive because I did not have the tracking number they said they would send me. They were confused and said they had already sent the replacement part. I had to explain the situation to them once again. The lady was pleasant and said they would get it shipped out that day. She called me later in the day and told me they did not have any in stock and that it could be a month or longer before they could get the part. I found another company with the part $5 cheaper and free three day shipping. Returned the part with J.C. Whitney and they said they would give me a full refund as soon as they had the return tracking number. I called a number of days after I had shipped it to give them the tracking number. They said it would take 5 days to process the refund. I did not even want to get into it so I left it at that. So today is 5 days later, I called them to check the status of the refund, and guess what, nothing has been processed. I was told this would take a couple more days, I told her to process this today but she said the best they could do is process it tomorrow. I am still waiting on the refund. The other company shipped the part and I got my car repaired.

J.C.Whitney online catalog stated item would ship in 24 hours. The catch was that the 24 hrs started when the manufacturer chooses to ship. Well the manufacturer shipped two weeks later on the 14th of Feb. It is now the 25th of Feb. and I still don't have my item. Oh by the way I paid premium shipping to receive in 3-5 days. This company is deceptive in their business practices. Buyer Beware! Learn from my mistake of taking them at their written word. Oh by the way they have my $90 dollars in their greedy little hands. Update 2-26-08 rc'vd response from customer service by e-mail and they informed me my package will be here by 3-7-08 and they thanked me for my patience in this matter. Rc'vd another e-mail from customer service and appears now that my item never shipped! They asked if I still wanted my order or a refund. Of course I opted for the refund. We will see next month if they actually refund my money when I get my credit card statement. worst service ever. unethical and brainless customer service representatives. plus the shipping took a lot of time, I did a lot of follow ups before I got my brake pads.

I bought a Mirage brake pad from them and they sent me a Galant brake pads, so I called them up requesting a refund but they just give me promises. Its almost a month now and I'm not receiving a single cent.

Order placed on Jul 24th, 07. Confirmation e-mail stated the product would ship directly from the vendor. Expected ship date was the 29th, confirmation e-mail would be sent when product shipped. After waiting 4 days for confirmation, I e-mailed JC Whitney Customer Service inquiring as to the status of my order.
"Your recent JC Whitney order included an item that is currently on back
order. We anticipate restock of the Replacement K & N filter on
08/28/07. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for the merchandise to arrive."
Well....what do you know? I check with K&N and the filter HAS BEEN in stock for weeks. So either K&N is awaiting cash payment from JC Whitney before they will ship anything for them indicating JC is in deep doo doo with K&N or JC Whitney Customer Service lied to me.

products. We value your business and appreciate your patience."
Apparently they DON'T value my business.

Had a problem with a "lift kit" that I had purchased....the person I spoke with was very helpful, and directed me to others who were knowledgable, and solved my problem!

Order process was respectable. The box it arrived in looked a little beat-up, but everything was present and undamaged.
The photos of the product I purchased, the "thumbnail" vs it's "enlarged" were different though. However, this was the only vendor who I could find who sold the item I was looking for.

After reading the bad feedbacks posted, I got somewhat reluctant to place my order, but compared the feedbacks at Bizrate which was very encouraging. All ratings posted here is old- made last year but Bizrate postings was for much recent purchases.Took a bet and purchased a car interior accesory was not as described on the picture- was way too big, picture seem to be more sleek looking. Returned it and got a replacement order without problems. Will shop around first before buying at this site, but will consider shopping again here.

Placed order for item that was to have been shipped no later than 7/19. As of 7/27/06 inquired for second time and they still did not receive a response from manufacter who was to direct-ship to me. J.C.Whitney seems to have a poor communications system with it's suppliers. Have not had a problem in past with items within "their" stock. Had to CANCEL order and place order with another merchant. Customer Service did not seem to care much. Hope this is not their future attitude.

On 7/10, I ordered an OBD II Code Reader, which on the site was listed as "In Stock". The price was supposed to be $99 + free shipping. Good deal, I thought.
The next day, I got a second confirmation with the following status: Expected to ship on 08/10/2006.
I sent an email inquiring about this, and the response I received was: "Thank you for you're email. I apologize that the item is on back order until 08/12/06. It will be shipped out just as soon as it becomes available. I apologize for the delay and for any inconvenience. Debbie"
That's not anything I didn't already know. I immediately called and canceled my order.

I ordered a small item on 5/19/06, paid $6.99 for shipping (more than half the price of the item) and on 6/1/06 am still waiting for the item. This is just to get it from Illinois to Michigan! Since ordering this item, I have been in the hospital for 3 days for knee surgery, returned home, placed an order from a company in California and received it, but J.C. Whitney can't get my single item order to me from Illinois in all this time?!!!!!!!

Let me first state that I have ordered through this company before, several times over the years, mostly through mail order. This was my first online order from JC Whitney.
I placed an order for seat covers on November 29, 2004, shopping strictly by final price with 'free' shipping. I received an immediate email stating that my order was confirmed. I recevid an email on December 1, 2004 stating that my order was shipped. I was not in a hurry to receive my package, so I let 10 calendar days go by before following up with my order. Upon using the 'status' or 'tracking' feature listed in my shipping notice email I was surprised to find out that my items were on backorder. The approximate ship date was listed as January 6, 2005. Rather than fume, and since I really wanted these seat covers (they were over $100 cheaper than everywhere else, so no wonder they were out-of-stock!) ,I waited. In the mean time I received several post cards from JC Whitney stating that my items were still on order and were listed with various ship dates as the weeks went by. Needless to say, the items were finally shipped and I received them on January 25 and 28, 2005.
The seat covers were originally going to be given as a christmas gift and were still given as such, just belated... They were of excellent quality and worth the wait. However, JC Whitney should have listed the item as out-of-stock or at least notified me of that status immediately.
For the record, I did contact customer service to follow up this transaction before posting this rating and they were apologetic, helpful, and understanding.
I will continue to look towards JC Whitney as an alternative to higher priced discount merchants, but be leary of shipping deadlines and in-stock status....

This company is very unprofessional they sell products that are after market and some of them are not even the same item some are damaged when you recive them. There customer service is very bad also. They charge your account things that you never ordered and without permission. They ship items and some are not even packaged in a box or wrapped? Terrible Company!!!!
