I ordered a gigabyte nvidia 8800 gtx from shopRBC. The availability stated ships within 24-48 hours, which I believed to mean in stock. However that means on back order and none are in stock. I called customer service and was informed my order could take anywhere from 1 week to 1 month, not exactly an accurate description of 24-48 hours. This review was modified by its author, bamur, on

Sir,
We apologize that you weren't happy with our services, but I think it's fair to state the facts.
#1) The site states "Usually Ships in 24-48 Hours" meaning although it does ship within a day or two most of the time, there are instances where for some unforseen reason, stock is not available so quickly.
#2) We did offer you alternative options from different manufacturers to ship the order right away for you.
#3) The card actually arrived today (March 16th) and we will call you to see if you still want/need it.
Again, our apologies for the delay. |

This was one of the worst expriences with a store. I was lied to, constantly.
I recieved my x800 GTO Sapphire Videocard on November 22, 2005.
I put it in my system, and let it run. In three days, THREE days. It was on fire. I have never had issues with cooling in my PC. Some how, this card burnt while playing some World of Warcraft.
I called ShopRBC the next day to tell them I need an RMA. I expressed the videocard back, and with it I sent a letter of everything that happened and all my information with my RMA number.
I got a call, from Daryll I believe telling me its gonna take few days up to three weeks. I was fine with it. I just asked him to call me next week. 2 Weeks no call, so I dieced to give him a ring. I ask ask him how things are going. He says that it should be a few days and or up to a week. Once again, I asked him to give me a call next week. No call. I call him AGAIN, this time he tells me this utter bull how a new card from Twiwan (Spelling?) has to come in. He says one week most.
Guess what...No card! Its around early January, and this is the first time he has called me. Afte that week, he says about one more week. I am kind of upset at this point, since my system is dead an d I have to keep using dads computer.
FINALLY I tell him(after week is over), I am leaving for Europe in Friday (This is a wesday) He sutters and says I will call you back.
Calls me back an hour later, saying the card is in stock and it will be here for friday.

1) No one from our company ever lied to you.
2) You actually received the card on November 25th, 2005 from our records.
3) We received the card back from you on December 8th.
4) We sent the card back to our distributor on Dec 14th for replacement as the card was phased out and we couldnt give you a new card to replace it as we normally would.
5) Our supplier received the card on Dec 19th and confirmed that it had to be replaced by Sapphire (from Taiwan) due to the same reason above.
6) We received the card back from our supplier on Jan 3rd, 2006.
7) We shipped the card back to you on Jan 4th, 2006.
8) You received the card on Jan 5th, 2006 - 10:03am.
That is the breakdown of the incident. Again, I apologize that it too so long, but sometimes we are put in a position where there isn't much we can do.
Hopefully this post clarifies the situation for other readers.

Item ordered and confirmed 11AM Aug 2, 2005 with claim of shipment within 3-5 days. No notification of back order status or ETA was received before 11am Aug 9 (7 days later) so order was cancelled. ShopRBC kindly and quickly confirmed order cancellation and followed up on this complaint.
Remaining issue is that ShopRBC seems to carry limited stock of Koolance products and must order direct from Manufacturer (Koolance). I would recommend others to buy direct from Koolance rather than add 7 days to shipping timetable. This review was modified by its author, klinkster, on

We do apologize that no one notified you of the backorders on your order. To clarify though, every component on your order stated that it "Usually ships in 3-5 days" which means it could have shipped as late as August 9th.
You requested to cancel on August 8th, which we gladly obliged to do.
You write that you ordered "supposedly in-stock items", but we have never listed any of the items you purchased as being in-stock.
I apologize that there was an obvious misunderstanding. |

Uninformative after order was made. Online tracking amounts to a view of your order without any indication of when the order would be filled, etc. Even after order was complete the tracking number for the shipper was not filled in. They failed to ship the package to the address specified in the order. They made comments such as if we had chosen UPS instead of their free local service the problem would not have happened. On delivery the computer would not even post, and was missing the second hard drive. This review was modified by its author, earlcw, on

We couldn't fill a tracking number since we used a local courier to ship the order. The address mistake was a human error.. apologies were made.
As for the machine not posting, obviously there was something that happened in shipping as we had tested the machine fully before being shipped. The 2nd hdd was also in error.
I would like to note that we did send one of our guys out without having to be asked to install the 2nd hdd and repair the machine. When the machine could not be repaired on site, we brought it back, fixed it within hours and had it back out the next day.
I think we handled the situation well and will work towards resolving the issues that we had control over.
thank you. |

On Friday feb 9 Placed an in store order for NAV and an OCZ GameXStream 600WATT SLI Power Supply. Was advised that power supply would probably be in by Mon or Tues, at this point online availability was showing as Usually Ships in 2-3 Days. On Wed Feb 14 picked up NAV but was advised that OCZ was out of stock on this unit and was not expecting to ship till the end of the month. Today is Feb 17 and item is still showing as Usually Ships in 2-3 Days. This company should alter web site to include the fact that this is on back order and not decieve the public with the expectation that it will possibly ship in 2 or 3 days when they know this to be false. Was offered the chance to keep item on backorder but by arival time mail in rebate and sale price could not be guaranteed. This review was modified by its author, lotsanos, on

There is a "Price Match" feature on their website that seems very good but they don't use it as described. In practice, the consumer has to bring in the lower priced advertisement (or proof URL) and show the clerk. Its no different than other local stores policies. If the store used the feature as they claim, consumers would benefit from each others finds as the product would have a new lower price for everyone.

As per the desciption on the price match page..
"If you've found a price better then our listed price, fill out this form and we'll try to match it."
We try to match pricing as best we can. If we can match a price, but don't want to sell it at that cost all the time, we'll do a one time price match. If we can lower the price, we will do so.
Hope that clarifies. |

Uphill battle..... ordered on the 15th, they didn't even get it to the mailing system till the 20th, called 15th, 16th, 20th, 21st, every time they said they'd give me a tracking #, they would call me back or e-mail me from 1/2 hr, to to hours, never heard back, had to call them....... I would not recomend anyone in the United states order from this company as thier customer service skills are sorely lacking.

Unfortunetly, the parcel service that we use is Canadian and was closed on the 17/18/19th for the Canadian long-weekend. We did ship the product on the 16th, but it may not have shown up in the system until the 20th..(day after the long weekend)
Not sure why no one ever called you back, I'll look into it right away.. obviously not the way we usually operate.
Hopefully the parcel gets to you in the time promised!

Normally I'm pretty happy with the RB Computing guys. They've been one of the few sellers that actuall respond to email and have been great for answering questions. I've made half a dozen to a dozen purchases with them without issue. I recently purchased a Hauppauge MediaMVP (retail unit) through them. Unfortunately the unit was defective, only the left audio output was working.
After contacting Hauppauge tech support to confirm that it wasn't a stereo versus mono issue I contact RB Computing re: a warranty replacement. I reported the issue well within their 30 day warranty time frame and was told that a replacement unit should be available within a week.
After the week went by I asked for an update regarding the arrival of the replacement unit and was told another week or two. Two more weeks go by and I was told another week or two. My last attempt to contact them resulted in no reply. I've been waiting for a replacement unit for almost three months now.
Will I buy from RB Computing again? Possibly, even likely. My previous purchases have had zero issues, but this is the first time I've requested warranty service. The staff at RB computing is always professional, knowledgable and have some of the best prices in the city. This review was modified by its author, weezer1024, on

I was the person dealing with this issue and to this day, we are still waiting on a new unit for you.
I have no record of a last contact; last time we spoke, I mentioned that Hauppauge was having issues with producing the MVP product. This is still the case. See below for further explanation from Hauppauge directly:
"We were caught between board revs in manufacturing and hence are on
constraint. I expect units to start shipping within 2 weeks. Sorry
about the delay.
Ron"
This was dated February 23rd. I apologize that you have been waiting this long, but I feel that we've gone beyond what we should have done in this case in letting you keep the defective unit so that you could use it in the time that we were waiting for a new unit to arrive. We aren't manufacturers.. all we can do is push Hauppauge and let them know our customers aren't happy.
Again, our apologies but this is totally out of our control.

After 6 buisness days of not shipping my item, I cancelled it. On the site, it is written that there is 21 speakers but they say they don't have any. Anyways, instead of that, custommer service is excellent, they answer fast and have a great service. I would not hesitate to buy there again if I don't care of the long shipping out.
Second time I command from them. This time it was absolutely perfect, they shipped the item into 6 hours after payment and it arrived 2 days later :) This review was modified by its author, lmaxl, on

Your order was placed on a Saturday and the only stock available was in Vancouver. So 6 business days did not go by, only 3-4 before you cancelled. Since you are in QC, you're order would have been in your hands 5-6 business days after you placed it due to stock location; slightly more than usual. Our apologies. |

Their website could be a bit more ergonomic, their Basket button was very small and at the bottom. Am use to have one at top and bottom of the page and bigger. Dont like to search for option on a webpage. Also in the e-mail and in their secured webpage ackowledging the purchase, they could add the tracking number of the package also. But when i wrote them about the tracking number they did gave it to me.
It took them about 3 day more then it should have had. But that is probably more the fault of UPS itself then them.

CPU Cooler with AMD 64 adaptor. Received order
quickly - shipping box was open where tape had
ripped, and the contents - CPU 300 box was cracked ( plastic enclosure); retainer seemed
OK; nothing is perfect. Transit stress must have
shaken the contents around. Otherwise a fine service. Will shop again.

I've shopped with RBC many, many times before. Almost all my parts are bought in store, or online. The staff is very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable, and helpful. Great prices, great service, great store over all. Thank you RBC!

Ordered from Ottawa to Guelph.
Very fast shipping.
Website not reliable especially when you want to order.
Very poor interface for ordering online. Very poor.
Had difficulty with used heatsink being sold as new (very dishonest) upon which the fan didn't work and had trouble getting them to honor it.
Had trouble with Asus board which they held for weeks and finally sent back unfixed or serviced (through an intermediary I had in Ottawa) Had to deal with ASUS directly.
However, buying sealed goods from this reseller has always gone flawlessly for me.
edit: to address the below comment:
The heatsink was not from this order. It was a dragon orb three. This was probably back in 2002. The thermal grease protected by tape was missing on the bottom of the heatsink and the bottom had an imprint of a die. Also, the packaging had obviously been opened before and the fan didn't work. It was obviously returned as defective.
Also, the order you're looking at, with the Athlon XP 2400+ went fine. That was ordered under my Father's name. You can find a history of my purchases under Ian (same last name.)
The motherboard in question was returned through an intermediary as I have said. His name was Jason Thompson. That was an ASUS P4S533 board.
Please understand that my comments are about the general experience I've had with RBC over the years and not just this one transaction.
As I have said, MOST of my transactions have been fine. This review was modified by its author, AIW Guru, on

Just saw this today.. not sure why our interface is poor.. please elaborate. Most people find our system very easy and fast.
As for the heatsink being sold as new, you bough an AMD 2400+ Retail and an Asus mainboard. Are you saying the retail packaging for the CPU was open? We never send out used products as new; never.
And last, as far as the asus problem, I have no record of ever doing service on a board you bought from us. Who did you deal with for the RMA?
Thanks,

I went to this site because its customer service was recommended to me by other people.
Its got a nice page but I find the lack of pictures kinda frustrating. I also find the page somewhat unorganized, ie: sound/video has the sub category videocards. I think "videocards" are enough of a product to have its own category.
They also double charged me on my first order. They did correct that though without even contacting me.
I never got a tracking number either though they said they processed the order...not sure if thats normal...
I also asked 3 times to get a pricematch on an iDEQ 200n and 200t, (it was $50 cheaper elsewhere). I have not heard back yet though I selected both "urgent" and "respond by end of business day" (this was 3-4days ago)
I tried calling them at 4pm cst but it said "no one was available in sales" then asked me to leave a message. Havent heard back yet concerning the message I left but it was kinda vague so thats ok.
Hopefully I will receive my barton2500+ soon as it was a good price. I dont think I will be dealing with them again though.
edit: ROb e-mail me about 30 seconds after I posted this pertaining to my phonecall. Seems like a nice guy, I hope to buy an iDEQ from them. This review was modified by its author, ullyeus, on
