Ok, I read all the other reviews...but the prices were sooo good, I wanted to see for myself. I decided to call first just in case, and boy were the other reviews right! Here's what happened:
First day I called them I told them I was on their website and I was thinking about buying something. They asked what it was and I said a Sony DSC-F717. I then asked him if it was in stock, when it would ship, and how long until it got to California. He said it was in stock, we can ship immediately, and it will take 1-2 weeks. (you see, I read the other reviews so I wanted to be very careful. But, I really hoped this would work out for me. It was a great deal!) I told him I would think it over and place the order later. He was very courteous and said, "ok, thank you for choosing us, have a good day."
The next day:
Once I transferred the money to my account to make the purchase, I called them. (I definitely didn't trust them with my card number over the internet after reading the other reviews). I pressed option one and was placed on hold for about 30 seconds. They answered "Sales!" I said "Hi, my name is ... what's your name" wanting to make sure I knew who I was talking to. His name was Paywu, or something. I told him I'd like to place an order for an item I saw on the internet, a DSC-F717 for $685.00. He responded, "Yes, that is an excellent price." He then asked me what kit I would like to order with it. I told him "I don't think I'll be buying a kit today." CLICK! He hung up on me! I called back and asked to talk to Paywu. CLICK! They hung up! Ok, this is getting a little irritating. I called again...option one...He answered "Sales!" I said "Hi I was just on the phone with you and I think we were disconneced..." CLICK! He hung up! I called back, but this time pressed option two. Someone named Jim answered (but he sounded just like Paywu). After telling him what I wanted to order, I asked him if he had any in stock. He said "No problem, January 29 delivery!" CLICK! Then he hung up. Now, why would he do that? I called again but pressed option three "Customer Service" Yeah right! They were closed at 3:00PM EST, but by my clock it should only have been 2:20 EST. Anyway, I called again pressing option one and talked to someone named "h h h Henry". I think he was just coming up with a new name every time (quick thinking though!) I told him I called a few times earlier and I kept getting disconnected and asked him if he they were having any problems with their phone system. He replied, "Yeah, they're working on the phone lines outside. Why don't you just place your order online? CLICK!" He hung up.
So, you see it wasn't as easy as I had hoped. And thank goodness I wasn't ripped off like some of the other reviewers. I just don't know why anyone would do what they did, but I place it on my list of other pure evil things: rape, murder, stealing, lying. They must work for Satan himself! Save your time and your effort, and don't even think about ordering from them or their Brooklyn cohorts. Here's a very informative article about these idiots and their scams from PCworld: http://www.pcworld.com/features/article/0,aid,107855,00.asp
I don't think I'll ever understand, but I am thankful that I wasn't abused like some of the other reviews. Please don't waste your time, go somewhere else. This review was modified by its author, MrMan, on

Just like everyone else. Pure bait & switch on the Canon G3. Confirmed that it was in stock, then refused the extras and was immediately told that it would now be 4-6 weeks. When I reminded him that he had just said that it was in stock and ready to ship, he said that it was "in stock" in their "Japanese warehouse" and would take 4-6 weeks to get to their "US warehouse." I decided to mess with them and just keep it ordered. Then I bought from Cameratopia for 595 shipped. I now see here that they apparently do the same thing, although they said it would only be ten business days. We shall see . . .

I tried calling these people. They hung up on me 3 times (just as soon as I notified them, that this conversation will be recorded). It was a no brainier. After the 1st time, it became fun to try to get them to hang up again, and after a second time to see if they are consistent in their practice of hanging up on their first time customers who are interested in purchasing a product (in my case it was going to be a Sony DCR-TRV950). These people are nothing but a COMPLETE SCAM. If after reading this review you go and place an order with them, you are lacking some brain cells (no offense).
Complete morons. I am surprised they have stayed in business more then 3 days, and why didn't they get shut down by responsible parties in NY, is beyond my level of comprehension. Maybe you can figure this one out. When you do, please let me know.
Sergey.
By the way they wouldn't even tell me their name. I can't tell you whom I spoke with, other then every single time a male picked up the phone and had an middle eastern descent type accent. Go figure!! Must be the brothers of the terrorists that caused the 9/11. Cowards!!

I called their 888 number and kept getting busy signal so I had to keep dialing the number over and over again. After 15 minutes of trying, I finally got a ring tone. Then I waited for another 5 minutes before some guy picked up. I told him I was interested in ordering a Canon Powershot G3 from them and he asked (in a very rude voice) what else I needed with that. So I told him I only wanted the camera, he hung up on me right away. I WOULD NEVER ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!

Bait and Switch as described by others here is exactly what happened. I ordered a Canon G3 for $599 plus shipping. I got a call back telling me they could have it to me by Christmas and ship it free if I purchased their "Holiday" special for $1100. The accessories were all overpriced. I said I wasn't interested in any accessories and the guy hung up on me. I receieved an e-mail with a 4-6 week back order shown giving me the right to cancel the order. I called back and did not identify myself but asked to order a G3 and asked if it was in stock and ready to ship. The salesperson (Rude Michael)said sure they are in stock and ready to ship. I have cancelled my order. I don't trust these people at all and would like to have the legal authorities close them down. This review was modified by its author, Jim313, on

Directsource's M.O. is bait & switch - post low prices, with no intention of honoring them, on products to generate leads, and then try to sell over-priced add-on's. When the customer refuses, the advertisd product suddenly becomes back-ordered by ~ 6 weeks. Please do not waste your time and money on this retailer.

These bozos tried the old bait and switch routine. Told me it would be at least 3 or 4 weeks to ship after I refused extra high priced accessories. Then were rude when I cancelled my order.
I'll never deal with them again. Don't waste your time, buy from a reputable dealer!

I tried to purchase a Sony DCR-TRV27 camcorder, for the website advertised price of $649.99.
I called their sales rep and he told me this item had been out
of stock for months, but that he could sell me the "platinum" package for $999.99. This is a classical bait and switch operation! When I expressed dismay at the higher price, the sales rep rudely hung up on me.

Bait and Switch Operation. On their web site they advertised a good price for a Minolta Dimage 7i camera. Ordered it and then the fun began. Within 15 minutes received a phone call from a sales person wanting to confirm my order and asking if I wanted accessories. Told him no and he said the order would be filled shortly. Next morning I checked the status of the order and it was noted as 'Cancelled'. Called and talked to a salesman who said it was on 'Back Order' for from 4 to 6 weeks. However if I would order the 'Executive/Holiday' set it would ship immediately. Cost difference - $330 more for a group of useless accessories that are way overpriced. So I cancelled my order and sent an e-mail to the company. They responded and offered me the 'Ecexutive/Holiday' set for $50 less. Told them no I would go to a reputeable dealer.

My experience is the same as the other two reviewers. When the hard sell of accessories doesn't work, my order is "backordered" instantly, even though it was "in stock" 5 minutes before. Extremely frustrating. Don't know when or if I will ever get my order.

I ordered Nikon Coolpix 5700, that supposedly is "usually shipping within 24-48 hours", the next day their representative left a message on my answering machine, that my order is ready and awaiting my telephone confirmation, when I called I was "offered" an additional package for an outrageous price of $400, after I refused salesperson was quick to say the camera is out of stock and I will have to wait for 3-4 weeks before I get it. The very next day I received an email giving me an option to either wait or cancel my order. I have 2 additional thoughts to that story:
1. What kind of company misleads its customers about the order already placed and then tries to sell more stuff?
2. If they have it really out of stock, what would I do with a whole bunch of overpriced equipment and no camera?
I let you be the judge but I am going to contact BBB in NY about them.

I called to place an order on a digital camera that DirectSource had advertised for a good price. I called to verify they had it in stock. They did. I told him I wanted it. The guy made a hard sales pitch to buy lots of extras which I did not really want. Every time I said, I don't need those lenses, he said, well, why not? I told him I didn't want this stuff. So, he forwarded my call to someone's voice mail. I decided to place my order online instead to avoid the hassle. The next day, I checked the status of my order on their site, and it said, Pending, call them. So, I called them. The guy said they just do that to verify information (name, address, order, etc.). Again, they had the camera in stock. When he started another sales pitch, I told him I didn't want anything, just the camera. I had paid for 2 day shipping (2 days processing + 2 day shipping = to get the camera in 4 days). The guy said, thanks for the order, you'll receive your camera in 4-6 weeks. I said, WHAT!? He said, yea. I said, you had it in stock yesterday and when I called you a few minutes ago. He said, that's if you buy it with this "package deal." I said that is way too long to wait. He said, do you want to cancel? I said, yes. He said ok...click, he hung up the phone! How rude? No confirmation number, nothing. I did receive an email canceling my order (even though I never received one when I placed the order). I would never, ever call this place to order anything again.
