I bought a Metra Axxess iPod adapter through them to use with my factory stereo in my car. Today, I took it to an audio shop to have them install it, as reaching the back of the stereo entails taking a part the entire center console. It took the professional around 2 hours to do this, imagine how long it would take an amateur such as myself. So anyway, we soon discovered that this does not actually function the way it should. They had 3 iPods there to test it with. It would play the song from one, but you couldn't change the song or anything. On the rest, and including the one I have at home, it did not work at all. I called Metra and after waiting on hold for nearly an hour, they told me the product is out-dated and no longer work with newer iPods. So I called techforless.com and they said they would provide a refund for the product but not for the price of the install ($45). They obviously need the product back to submit the refund, but that means I need to pay another $45 to have the product removed. Utter BS. Their excuse was that their product specifications state it will work with any iPod, even though that is not true. Stay clear from this shady company.

I am sorry for the problems with this order. I am able to refund our customer without him returning the item, however I am not able to refund the installation costs. |

Frustrated at present. Tech for Less initially worked with me (to their credit) in taking back an out-of-box digital camera (Panasonic FZ30)that I simply didn't like the image quality for. I asked if I could exchange it for a digital SLR (Sony A200) and they immediately sent this out to me -- after sending me a prepaid shipping label for returning the initial order (FZ30). The Sony A200 arrived quickly, but was found to be defective. I sent them emails -- four so far over the past 36 hours -- and have called them twice. Still no response. I simply want to get a shipping label to return the defective camera and get a full refund (if I can). We'll see if they charge me a re-stocking fee. I was initially please with TEch for Less, but now am pretty disappointed. Hopefully they will contact me soon (it's now going on 48 hours). We'll see what happens. I'll post a followup soon.
**********************
Update: FINALLY got a live person (who knew how to help me) on their toll free line -- this was 5 days after I made my initial call and sent my initial email to them about the defective camera. She says they'll send me the return shipping label via email ASAP. She also noted that it will take 7 to 10 DAYS AFTER THEY RECEIVED THE DEFECTIVE CAMERA BACK BEFORE MY CARD WILL BE CREDITED! (Is this standard?)
I am pretty unhappy with this company, primarily because their after-sale customer service is inconsistent at best. I think they are simply under-staffed and dealing with many 'issues' with the 'open box' and 'resealed' products they peddle. They should have better customer service followup for when problems like this inevitably arise. After all, they are dealing with products that have been opened and/or 'resealed', so presumably there are problems to begin with. Open box and refurbished items CAN be a great deal, but there needs to be better in-house QA checks by Tech for Less BEFORE they send products out, and THEN better after-the-sale customer support! Two check marks, at best. This review was modified by its author, halcb56, on

I ordered and received a refurbished PS3 from TechForLess. The unit appeared to be in good condition but stopped working about three weeks later. I attempted to contact the company through the website, by email and by phone. I could not reach anyone. No one in customer service ever picked up my calls. About a week and a half after I first contacted them I got an automated response saying they'd send me a replacement unit. Well, I had changed addresses after my initial order and repeatedly contacted them telling them to be sure the replacement was sent to my new address. No response. Then I received a UPS tracking number for the replacement unit stating that the delivery address was in fact that of my previous residence. So, I had to wait out in front of my old place waiting for UPS in order to intercept the new PS3. Finally, I got the replacement unit and took it home. However, upon opening the box I discovered that they had sent me a broken, old, beat-up PS3. Its case was cracked, the power button worked intermittently and the USB ports didn't work. Now, I'm going to have to ship them the replacement unit back, get a refund and buy my ps3 somewhere else.
Do not order from TechForLess unless you enjoy sub par service and recycled junk for products.
Edit: I appreciate your reply, but perhaps if you spent less time responding to buyer feedback you might be able to answer the customer service line. This review was modified by its author, jpdeltoid, on

I am horribly displeased with Tech for Less. My boss recently purchased an HP notebook and from the moment we opened the box it has been a nightmare. First, the notebook wouldn’t work properly because the product codes that were sent to us were not valid, with that being the case my boss asked me if I would return the product and get the money credited to the company’s credit card. I thought that was a fine idea, but so far I have called twice and both time I have been told that my return label will be sent to my email address and it has not, and now, for the past 15 minutes I have been trying to get a hold of Customer Service through the phones and each time I call I just get the voice mail and I know that doesn’t work because in the past weeks I have left multiple message and I have never gotten a call back. This whole ordeal has been a real disaster! This review was modified by its author, ndw2306, on

I ordered an Xbox 360 20gig with an Open Box condition.
Sadly, only 8 days after getting my Xbox 360 it is already getting a Red Ring of Death. Thus making my Xbox as useful as the box that it came in. I personally find it frustrating that a company would deliver a product that would die so quickly. It is my hope that is company is able to resolve the issue in a timely manor... I will edit this entry once my ticket has been answered (Submitted June 22 ~9:00AM PST)
I would suggest users be wary of purchasing from Techforless.

JUNK. This company sales nothing but junk thats already been sold in other stores. Items that have been returned at Best Buy and other electronic stores. I've returned my TV 4 times already. In two months. I called to get my TV registered and Sharp told me it was registered 2 years ago. My TV was suppose to be an Open Box. New. Not refurbished. Junk. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Purchased an open box FM transmitter. Upon receipt, I hooked it up to find that the dock connector does not attach properly, and I can get only intermittent sound, often very quiet and in Mono, not stereo. I have emailed 3 times with no response, through Google and directly, trying to obtain an RMA number. Will not be purchasing from here again - will be disputing with the credit card company if I do not hear a reply within the next few days. DO NOT buy from this site - poor customer service standards!

Had great price on refurb Onkyo 606. Had initial problem with verifying payment. Called but received voicemail. Per instructions on VM, they recommend e-mailing for quicker response. Did as suggested, and received a phone call that evening to process payment info. Received in good condition in only four business days from across the country.
Would recommend to others who are looking to buy refurb units to save money!

Hands down, best merchant I've ever done business with, online or off. They specialize in refurbished products and their prices reflect that. I ordered a refurbished TV for $300-$400 LESS than others selling the exact same refurbished product. Complications arose where Amazon had listed the same product from them, but with lower shipping, which they gave me. On top of that, I had to cancel my order AFTER it shipped (no problem), then re-order the same product (no problem either.) They never gave me a hard time and were always more than accommodating, even when all complications that arose from my transaction were from me. Online, as well as box retailers could learn a thing or two about customer service from this stellar organization. I've bookmarked their site on both my browsers and on all my computers.

I bought a Wacom Graphire3 4x5 tablet in the open box catagory. Product arrived as stated and in perfect working condition, I actually can not tell it was an open box special. Fast shipping and prompt confirmation emails will have me ordering from this company again in the future.

I purchased a open box konica/minolta 5d body.Their website defined open box item as everthing being intact. But upon receiving saw body strap and body cap missing (which was supposed to be included with the body)and warranty card.Customer Svc department was very helpful specially Titus Kleppinger, who promptly addressed all my concern via email and phone.Promised to honor the original 1 yr manufacturers warranty, will have to see if needed how effeciently they handle it.Would purchase from them again.
