I was told by the salesman that I would be quite pleased with my purchase, and I was. I ordered an expensive light meter which arrived very quickly. It was mint, although the box was dented. Everything was in the box exept the instruction manual, which was easily downloaded from the Sekonic website.
So, I got a new light meter for the cost of a used one on the auction sites.
What a deal! Highly recommended.

I purchased Left 4 Dead 2 for PC from techforless.com. The copy i received was packaged in a generic DVD case with a L4D2 cover scotch taped on. When i registered the key, steam rejected it because it was already registered. Customer support did say they would refund my money. I'll find out if that happens in about 7 working days.

I purchased an open box Microsoft 5000 Wireless Mouse. I received it in no time and the mouse works great! I would definitely buy from Tech For Less again and would recommend them to anyone!

I bought a Nikon D40 for a very good price from this store. I received the product on time - seven days after it was ordered since it was an international purchase. Unfortunately, I just found out that the battery and the charger are not compatible with the camera. I am really disappointed because I had to pay a large amount of money for shipping and taxes, now, I feel defenseless about getting the rightful accessories . I feel that I am going to be required to shell-out money again for their mistake. I am still awaiting reply from Tech for Less. I do not recommend buying from this company if you do not want to waste your time chasing after them, especially if you would like to have the product shipped to an international address.
Update (17 March)
Tech for less contacted me saying that they are planning to send out the correct parts for my camera. They did not get my previous e-mails, apparently. So now, I am waiting. This review was modified by its author, tin918, on

I have had mixed experiences with this company thru Ebay. Yes, they can have very good deals on their refurbished merchandise, but you had better pray that you don't need to return anything. Returns are a nightmare.
My monitor developed a line running thru the picture, sometimes blue, sometimes green, less than an hour out of the box. I emailed them to get a RMA, and that's when two weeks of frustration started. It takes 2-3 days to even get a "standard" reply, where they tell you how busy they are due to increased business. No kidding! Glad your business is doing well, TechforLess, but I didn't ask if you were busy. You're AT WORK for God's sake, you're supposed to be busy! I'm busy too.
I was told that I would be contacted by a customer service rep within 2 days. Didn't happen. I try emailing again, and they tell me I WAS contacted, the first woman actually forwarded me the email--it was sent internally to her, not to me! I tried to explain this, but they didn't get it. Got a phone number at least, and called. Got voice mail. Call again, more voice mail. Call again, get a guy who could not possibly have been more snarky and sarcastic, telling me OF COURSE I can put so-and-so on the phone, "I would be DELIGHTED to do that sir!" And a minute later, he gives me the woman's voicemail again.
I leave my name and number. Next morning I call again, finally get the woman who also seems a bit smug and sarcastic, and she finally agrees to email me the return UPS label. 45 minutes later, she calls and leaves a message on my machine, saying that she's returning my call from yesterday, and looks forward to speaking with me. She had no idea who she was just on the phone with!
Of course, I never get the email. They tell me it must be in my spam folder. I keep trying, give them another email, and finally get the damn label.
Second monitor has a problem. I want a refund this time, and email and tell them that, in no uncertain terms. I volunteer to pay a 20% restocking fee, no problem. 2 days later, same "form" email telling me how busy they are, and someone will be in touch with me. Never happens. 2 weeks now, and nothing. I knew it. It's a common tactic, ignore the customer and hope they just give up and go away. I didn't pursue and harrass them the second time, and they were more than happy to just ignore me and let it go. So now I will sell the defective monitor on Ebay, and just deal with the bad feedback when it comes.
Thanks TechforLess! No need to reply, I know you're all busy with your increased business. And trust me, I won't add to that problem again.

I originally came to the site tech for less in researching a camera, so I was aware of the comparisons on other sites. The camera was shown (the kit) compared to the full kit price at other stores, (and the other stores had free shipping). But I ended up apparently only buying the body. When I saw this in the invoice it had already shipped so I couldn't cancel and so instead had to return to sender, and am now looking at paying like $50 (they were able to "help me" by only charging me a 10% restocking fee on something that has never been opened.) in restocking fees and shipping.
BOTTOM LINE: this site is not a deal.
stick to newegg (if you return to sender, you pay NOTHING, they return everything IN FULL. WONDERFUL customer service, highly recommended.)
I wll never even look at this site again.

My email to techforless on 1/11/10 is copied below:
I would like to say that I am fully satisfied with my purchase (Magellan Maestro 3200 GPS). I was amazed at how quickly it arrived after I submitted my purchase. You are definitely on my list of vendors.
Thanks,
Bob Johnson
As of today, that message still expresses my opinion.

I'm a first time customer and I ordered the Samsung N120 Netbook from techforless. I was skeptical at how low the price was; so I
checked more sites for the same product and well their name defintly doesn't lie. I'm 100% satisfed with my netbook and glad that cnet allowed me to compare different laptops. I will defintly come to this site for now
on with my orders. Thank You tech for less, you gained a new customer.

Ordered 2 x powerstation 200 new price..
they shipped something wrapped in on boxes with missing labels and no retail packaging.. I didnt even open their boxes as i am sure there might be something used in there.
called customer service and they immediately offered $50 refund, even before completely discussing the details. They didn't offer an exchange (see i am technically not asking for exchange but ship what i ordered) :). I refused and decided to return.
funniest transaction i have ever done..customer service was helful but be careful as you ***may*** not receive what you order.
and they used switch and bait technique to sell some used junk. This review was modified by its author, sarish.jain, on

I ordered a NEW Canon SD 1100is that was marketed as "open box". What I received was a used camera with mismatched cords from different manufacturers and no disc or book. I was ordering a replacement for a lost camera and was amazed when a "refurbished camera" with missing parts and mismatched cords and charger arrived.
Very, very disappointing! I did not want a used camera and was expecting the original factory box with all accessories included (hence- "new", "open box").

I would really like to apologize for the problems with this order. This is certainly not how we operate as we take our customers and our customer service very seriously. We are researching this issue to see where the disconnect was and have offered our customer a partial refund or the return for full refund. |

This is my 1st purchase from TechForLess and it will certainly NOT be my last! I purchased a Quantaray 70-210 lens for my Canon EOS XSi camera and have been thrilled with it since its arrival. The transaction was perfect, the price was the lowest I found anywhere, shipping was incredibly quick and pre-and post-purchase communication was outstanding. The product arrived perfectly and its performance is exceptional. I can't thank you enough for my terrific experience with your company-keep up the GREAT work!!

I have a complaint about Tech for Less and that complaint is: Other companies, on line or not, are nowhere near as good as Tech for Less. For the past few years, I have done much of my Christmas shopping at TFL. Their products are only surpassed by their phenomenal customer service and support staff.

My experience with Tech For Less was miserable. I purchased a credit card processing machine (Hypercom 4210) from them and discovered the power cord was missing from my "new" machine. When I called, they were friendly and sent me a replacement, but it took 10 days (I ended up going to Radio Shack for a replacement prior to this, because my business needed a functional credit card machine).
Then the machine quit permanently after only 1 week of use. When I called, the gentleman on the phone referred me to the manufacturer who said the machine could probably be fixed, but it would take 2 weeks. I could not run my business without a machine for 2 weeks, so I returned the device to Tech For Less and purchased a new (different) machine from another company. Now Tech For Less is charging me a 20% restocking fee, plus the price of shipping the machine back.
I only recommend this company if you want to receive a "bunk" product that will be missing pieces and will break down soon after purchasing.
Addendum: After reading this review, Tech for Less did call and refund our money in full. In the end, our experience with them was not amazing, but at least somebody in the company does have some integrity. This review was modified by its author, dsage123, on
