The seller’s name: “ibuydigital.com”
At this seller I had the worst internet shopping experience in my life. I’ve placed an order in 5th of September. I did not get any e-mail, which confirmed my order and payments. Fortunately I’ve print order confirmation right after I placed an order.
When I placed an order I was outside the USA, so my phone was switched off. They called me and left message to call them back to verify my payment info. I’ve send them FOUR emails asking about my order status - NO ONE ANSWER.
Than I called them back and verified my payment info (it was 09/11/08). At 09/15/08 they said me that they will ship me my order “very shortly”. Next day they said me the same. At 09/17/08 they said me that they will ship an order “today at the end of the day”. But even today order is not shipped yet!!!
If you do not want to buy stuff without order receipt, without attention to your needs, without answering on your emails, with holds you on telephone line for more that 15 minutes - DO NOT BUY AT THIS SELLER!

I can't believe what a horrible experience I had with this retailer. I should have just canceled the order as soon as I got the confirmation email requesting that I call them to "confirm" my order. Of course, the true purpose was to give be an extremely aggressive sales pitch for a ridiculously overpriced accessory, a warranty for a light bulb that cost 50% of the cost of the item itself, and another warranty for the projector I was attempting to purchase. Over the course of the next two weeks, I received no communication at all until one day I found a UPS notice on my front door when I came home from work. That's fine as I'd rather get a notice then find a $2500 projector sitting on my front porch. I contacted UPS so I could pick up my package in person. Within 90 minutes of making this call Central Digital recalled the package. Their only attempt to contact me was to leave a voicemail to "confirm" that I was picking it up, but my this time they had already recalled it, so that was meaningless. The only way I found out about the recall was when I arrived at UPS to pick up the package.
Of course, their customer service is only open until 5pm, so I had to wait until the next day to call them, and they told me they have a policy against people picking up their packages in person. Ridiculous. Then they tried to tell me there would be a restocking fee for the package that I never even laid eyes on. In the end, they agreed to refund the full price, but only after 45 minutes on the phone, and I'm still waiting for the refund to show up on my credit card, so we'll see.
In the end, I have never had such a terrible experience in making a purchase, and have only managed to waste three weeks of my time.

Update: After I posted this review, I got a call from them saying that they refuse to refund the full purchase price because I gave them a bad review. Now I am forced to dispute the charge via my credit card. Completely insane. They basically stole my projector from me.

I ordered a Pentax K20D (Mfg Part #: 19381) from IbuyDigital in time to qualify for the $100 rebate. The item was listed as having a “factory warranty” and was not indicated as being “gray market”. It was also listed as being “In Stock” and “Usually Ships in 1 to 2 business days”. I was called the following day to “verify my information”, and get the pitch to purchase additional items. I was told the camera was a genuine US product. The item shipped a week after I ordered it, and the part number on the box was 19385. The part number had been covered by 2 stickers and could not be used to apply for the rebate. There was no US warranty card, only a generic card, with no company name on it, to mail in. Given the different part number, and stickers, this was clearly a gray market camera. Since the camera arrived after the rebate expired, and I had only 3 weeks left to submit the paperwork for it, I didn’t bother to try to return the camera, since I knew it would take a month to resolve the issue, if it could even be resolved. I know the agony of trying to return a product to IbuyDigital would not even be worth trying to get the $100 rebate. Bottom line, don’t buy from IbuyDigital.

After reading reviews, I decided to take a chance on ibuyplasma.com. Their price for the Canon camera I wanted was too good to be true. It turned out that the good price that was advertised was for a "gray" camera. However, they do sell the USA certified version of the same camera. You just have to ask for it. And it comes at a higher price. The higher price was still the best I could find on the internet, or anywere. There was some pressure to buy the gray version and a 3 year extended warranty, but simply stating "no, I want the USA warranty from Canon" was all it took.

Beware of this store. Ordered a Canon 40D, no response for a couple of days. Then sent me a Grey market camera (no warranty), even though the reciept says USA. They are also very hard to get on the phone (unless you are purchasing) and rude.

Grey market products! BEWARE!!! I ordered a Canon 40D with the lens but later they sent me an email to confirm the order but when I called they told me that they didn't have it. When I told Jim that the CSR who I talked to before told me that they have it, they Jim answered angry and told me that they had the US version but not the overseas version. When I asked him to clarify, Jim told me in harsh tone of voice that the one I purchased was the camera with overseas warranty not the one with the US warranty. The website didn't specify and the emails I got from the store also don't mention that you're getting a US version or overseas version. Clearly they are trying to sell Grey Market products as US market products. Here's part of the description taken from their website;
"Condition: Brand New, Factory Warranty"

P.S. I wouldn't had ordered the camera if I knew it was Grey Market camera.

Ordered a Zumo 450 GPS on 7/9 with 1-2 day shipping for an extra 50 bucks. Site said in stock, person on phone assured me it would be delivered by Fri 7/11. End of business day EST 7/10, charged my account but did not provide a tracking #. Called customer service, they claimed that my billing address was not a match on the credit card (even though the card was charged 534.00), not possible. I canceled the order. We will see how long it takes them to credit my bank account back the money.

Not only will I never use this site, but I will never use a small internet reseller of electronics again. They are all scam artists.

If you read these positive reviews they are clearly schill reviews written by the same person. I thought RR.com could do better than this.

To the person writing these schill positive reviews: Almost NOONE remembers the name of the person on the phone when the transaction goes smoothly. So keep writing, "oh Derek was great!" all you want. Your reviews are obviously bogus.

But why was I even using DBuys? Because price comparison sites including reseller ratings were showing false prices for major retailers mots notably Amazon.com.

RR, pricegrabber, yahoo shopping, and just about every price compare site had a price of between 80-300 dollars higher listed for Amazon.com than the actual price of the device if you searched on it directly at Amazon.

Also if you click on the higher price listed for Amazon in the price compare you are taken to Amazon.com where Amazon glady charges you 200 or more dollars over their prices for the device and kicks back the difference to the price comparison site.

So I thought dbuys.com had the cheapest price by using these sites, only to find out by going directly to Amazon.com that the price was over a hundred dollars less.

Which leads us to the conclusion, Of course dbuys didnt ship my order as promised, because they need time to buy the device from Amazon, and reship it to me and pocket the difference.

You electronics guys are a piece of work, and I will let every single soul I can get my hands on know what a scam you are running.

I have had a great experience with Ibuydigital. This is my second purchase (camera) since I bought my 52" sony lcd last year. I was quite anxious last year purchasing an expensive large item, but it was delivered on time in great shape and I was more than pleased at the savings. No complaints about the camera purchase either. I will continue to do business with them.

I was able to receive my product in a timely manner and the product preforms as described. I guess the old saying, "you get what you pay for" applies here. For a lower price, in order to complete my order, I had to talk with a clerk who tried to sell me products that I neither wanted nor needed. I found this not an acceptable trade off for a lower priced product.

This was my first time from ibuy.com and here are my thoughts.

Good -
Easy to find products, pay and check out.
got a call the following day to check up on the order

Bad -
Not able to see status of order online
When tried to call was on hold a long time.

I would buy from them again.

I ordered a Canon 5D online at ibuyplasma.com on Friday night. Unlike other online merchants I didn't get a confirmation email immediately. On Monday morning I got an email asking me to call to confirm the order. When I did I was informed that the camera did not come with a manufacturers warranty. When I asked why not the rep told me that it was because the camera was "gray market" but that I could buy a warranty from them. I said I wasn't interested and would like to cancel the order. The rep replied: "You want to cancel the order" and I said that yes, I did. His response was "Drop dead! Goodbye" and he hung up on me!

It is really hard for me to believe that anybody has written a positive review of this outfit. I can't imagine that the positive reviewers got the right store name.. only one reason occurs to me for writing a positive review.. oh well,
What a HORRIBLE experience! Stay away from these people!
I ordered a hi=def TV on Fri., June 6. I printed the confirmation from the web site, which was fortunate, since no email confirmation was received. I waited until Tuesday, June 10, and still having heard nothing, I called. The recording said they were closed Mon. and Tue. (It turns out this was a Jewish holiday, and, it is claimed, was stated on their web site - ok, maybe so. I didn't see it).
I called again on Wed., June 11. The CSR told me, after checking my order #, that it had been "sent to the warehouse for preparation". She asked me to hold on. Next thing I knew I'm talking to a man named Jim, who confirmed the TV I had ordered. He asked me if I needed cables/wires, and a mounting bracket or stand. I said, no, since I'm having it installed locally and all of those things will be provided. He asked me if I wanted an extended warranty. I said no, thanks. Then he said ok, the TV will probably ship in about 5 days and will be there in 2-3 weeks. Now, when I ordered this TV, I accepted the price of $2101 for the TV, and I selected "Express Threshhold delivery, for $149.95, stated at 5-7 Business Days". I pointed this out to Jim, who said that the order was received TODAY, June 11, even though I had placed it last week on June 6. He also said, I think, that they have up to 5 days to fill the order, and THEN, the 5-7 business day delivery would start. (Note the web site says orders "typically" ship in 1-2 days)
He went on to say that there is NO WARRANTY with the TV, and no stand.
I pointed out that his web site specifically says the TV includes a "manufacturers warranty". Are you ready for his reply? He said, "well, WE are the manufacturer, and we provide a LIMITED warranty". I didn't understand him. I said, "What do you mean, YOU are the manufacturer? Are you Panasonic"? He said,"no, we are Ibuyplasma.com, WE are the manufacturer, and it is our warranty". I said, but did YOU make the TV set". He said, "No, its a Panasonic but we are the manufacturer". Figure that one out.
Before I cancelled the order, he made the following additional points:
1. Even though the product info page at their web site clearly says the TV includes a stand, he said, "that's a typo. No stand is included."
2. He said its a grey market TV and thats the way they come - no warranty from Panasonic, and no stand.
3. He offered me a US set (same Panasonic model but legitimate made-for-USA-sale), for $2399, plus $99 for White Glove shipping, and less a special discount of $50. So, instead of paying the $2251 I was originally billed, had I been incredibly stupid enough to accept his kind offer, I would have paid $2448. And oh yes, if I agreed to buy the "US set", THAT one he could ship tomorrow!
