I ordered a .6 carat "signature" princess cut diamond set in a platinum ring. The website is great and makes ordering very easy. I particularly liked the build-your-own ring section with views of the ring/diamond combo that updates as you change diamonds: very nice and reasonably accurate.  
 
Shipping was a breeze. After I placed the order I called to change the shipping address and the customer care specialist I talked to was great and fixed my problem quickly.  
 
When the ring arrived, the first thing I noticed about it was that, wow, the diamond was exactly as described. Very, very nice.  
 
The second thing I noticed is that the ring it was set in was just awful. The area beneath the cathedral setting had a large, jet black smudge. The smudge wasn't surface grime or the like and would not wipe off. The three local jewelers I took it to (so much for avoiding "mall" jewelers by ordering online) were unable to clean it. Two thought that the ring was not cleaned properly before the cathedral mount was added and both thought the craftsmanship was very poor.  
 
The defect is by no means subtle. It is GLARING. It is simply not possible that the jeweler at Blue Nile failed to notice it and I'm left to assume that he or she simply decided to send it out, anway.  
 
Although I wouldn't suggest purchasing a ring from Blue Nile, their diamonds are great. If I were purchasing stones separately in the future I'd consider going to them again.  
 
As it is, though, I've given them a low rating because when a) I've spent several thousand dollars with a company and b) it's for something as obviously "important" as an engagement ring I'd like to think the company would make a point of at least checking for obvious flaws in their product and, if any are found, correcting them BEFORE the product is shipped.  
 
Blue Nile does, however, have a 30-day return policy (which I'm taking advantage of). If you DO decide to go with Blue Nile, make sure you order the ring with plenty of time to spare, so you'll have time to return it should yours turn out like mine.

Placed an order for custom made diamond earrings, they comfirmed immediately, gave me a shipping date. Order shipped 3 days later by Fedex and arrived exactly when they said it would. Was packaged professional and safely, with lots information included. The blue jewerly box was "ok" but I wished they would give you an option for something nicer.

I was REALLY unsure about buying such an expensive thing from an online store.  
 
But after reading about this company on Forbes, which helped me feel comfortable with the idea, I went ahead and bought a necklace.  
 
All I have to say is that all the good reviews were right, 5 stars are deserved. The necklace was amazing, I couldn't help but stare at it before I gave it to my partner. It was better then I even imagined.

I have bought 2 times from these guys, bought a diamond necklace which was on sale, second time which is today, I bought a Pearl Bracelet for my wife on valentines day. I really have to give props to these guys cause of the great prices and super fast shipping. Ordered a watch, but the size was too big. Gave them a call and they were very helpful and friendly. Returned the item for another one; just received an email indicating the new watch will ship overnight.

Very Good! I found the diamond search engine one of the best I've seen. The education sections are more than enough to bring you up to speed on making a diamond purchase decision. I called them a couple of times and the people I talked to were always friendly and very knowledgeable. I must add that I was never put on the dreaded 'please hold for the ....' for more than 10 seconds. I am extremely satisfied and will be back.

I ordered a diamond and sapphire ring as a small Valentines gift for my sweetheart. The ring came in three business days by overnight FedEx. It's beautiful and perfect, just like the picture.  
 
The only bad thing is that you can't get a non-engagement ring in the nice hardwood ring box. I asked a service representative about upgrading to a hardwood box, but it's not an option. All other rings come in a blue felt box with a white leather lining. It's still nice, but not quite as nice.  
 
Overall, I'm very happy with Blue Nile and I think I will buy the engagement ring from them as well!

I ordered a 1 caret diamond engagement ring and myself and my fiancee are extremely happy with it. The only problem we had was that she told me the wrong size...we had that fixed locally. The shipping was fast and on the exact date predicted with my original order. That made it really easy to plan for the big proposal.

Excellent seller. Bought a necklace for my wife's birthday here and it arrived in a (wisely) unmarked package. Inside, it was packed in an elegant little box. Classy store. Arrived exactly when expected and in exemplary condition.
