This is my first purchase "venture" with 6ave. Like most online customers, I always read reviews on resellerratings for an online merchant before purchasing anything from them. Here is my experience so far with 6ave:
......
June 22, 2009 - Inquired about Product in stock and Order receive date (between July 2, 2009 and July 10, 2009).
June 23, 2009 - Order Placed after reading mostly good reviews (very few bad reviews).
June 24, 2009 - Noticed that "ships in 7-10 business days" does not seem to change on their product page. Upon inquiring with customer support they gave a response: they are just posting ETA based on whatever information they get from the manufacturer (Panasonic) and they really can't guarantee when they will be able to ship the product out. This really means that they are OUT OF STOCK - BACK LOGGED on this TV and will still keep stating "Ships in 7-10 business days" on their site every day which is a LIE. (My worst fear of falling for the online TRAP of Backlog and OUT OF STOCK product seems to have come true!)
June 24, 2009 (12:30 pm PST) - One of the support person from 6ave calls at my home informing that there is some misunderstanding and that product is in stock but just needs to be picked up from one of their retail location and that normally happens in 1-2 days, the reason why they keep 7-10 days to ship notice on the product page
June 24, 2009 (2:30 pm PST) - I receive an email response to my order status inquiry as seen below:

I bought a Panasonic P50V10 television, Panasonic Home Theatre in a Box (SC-BT300), and a Bell'O mount for the TV.
The television is awesome - great picture, very attractive, easy to set up.
The home theatre was fairly easy to set up and is fairly good quality. My only complaint is the limited number of input ports, making it hard to stream all of my audio through it.
I did have a major problem with the stand however. Before I made the purchase, I spoke with a 6ave "expert" to make sure it was compatible with my television. However, when I finished the assembly, I discovered that the placement of the brackets ran across the plug-in for the power cord, and it was impossible to have the brackets on and the tv plugged in at the same time. I spoke to customer service about returning the item, but they said they only accepted returns with the manufacturers original packaging, which I had had to cut open with a box cutter just to get to the item in the first place. They promised to have a manager call me, but instead I only received a curt e-mail from someone informing me that the managers had said no. Considering the amount of money I had just spent with this company, and the fact that I had specifically asked about compatibility before I made the purchase, I am still very upset about the matter. While my big ticket items were quite nice and a very reasonable price, I would hesitate to recommend 6ave to anyone concerned about customer service.

Following a two week wait, my TV is finally set for delivery!
Calls to the shippers finally yielded results.
I'm not too impressed in the delivery company used, but 6Ave have been surprisingly responsive.
Hopefully all will be well once it arrives!
Update: Well worth the wait - gorgeous TV - great price - thanks 6ave.
Advice: Call 6ave if there is a delay, not the shippers! And 6ave DO read these reviews. This review was modified by its author, oakes3, on

I recently ordered a 67" Samsung HL67A750 rear projection television set. Ordering from 6th Avenue was easy and I found the site easy to navigate an understand. The order confirmation was quick as was the processing and shipping. I ended up having a minor issue with shipping, however, it was not directly the fault 6th Ave and further they resolved the issue by refunding the cost of my white glove shipping upgrade. The television arrived in pretty good shape, although there is a minor issue with the edge bezel where it looks like is separated from the screen in one spot. Again I do not fault this to 6th Ave and attribute it to the tv quality and/or ease to ship something of this size. I would definately recommend 6th Ave to anyone interested in ordering electonic products. They were quick, responsive when I needed them to be and easy to buy from. I will definately check their site the next time I am looking to purchase electronics.

I could not be more satisfied. Sixth Avenue Electronics is an outstanding company to do business with. I was leery at first because their price was so low on the camera that I wanted. I was expecting an email back saying you "need to call" to confirm the order so we can sell you a 2 gig memory card for an an additional $100 (that you can buy anywhere else for $8) before we can ship the order and if you refuse we suddenly are out of stock, but that never happened! My order arrived very quickly with no shipping charge and no tax. The price quoted was the price paid. No "bait and switch" tactics. What a refreshing change from some of the retailers I have dealt with! I was so happy with Sixth Avenue Electronics that I ordered a high powered amp and speakers, again with the same results. Great price, fast service, great quality.

Ordered a Denon 1909 receiver from them on 1/17/09. It was defective and I sent it back to them, received by them 2/10/09 according to UPS tracking. Today is 3/05/09 and I have not received a replacement or a refund. They advertise as a authorized Denon dealer but cannot deliver product or service. Stay away unless you have all the time in the world to wait.

Slowest shipping in my lifetime from any online vendor.
I first ordered a Pioneer 5020 that took two business weeks to arrive and now I am waiting a full business week for a Pioneer 51FD.
The problem with that is, I live less than a 60 miles from them.
Will never do business with them again, even though they have good pricing, and will not reccomend them to anyone who appreciates getting what they paid for in a decent time frame. This review was modified by its author, E-A-G-L-E-S, on

I placed an online order for a Blu-ray player on Dec 26, and paid through paypal. On Jan 9, called them since I did not get any confirmation or shipping information. After half an hour on the line, I was told that the order was canceled since they cannot get the items. They claim the money was credited back to Paypal, but it is not in Paypal. Entered a dispute with Paypal and waiting on this...
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER.

Fantastic service! I ordered a 46in Samsung LCD and a Denon AVR3808CI receiver. Dave Schonfeld took my order oferring advise and the lowest prices I could find anywhere on the internet. Delivery was within one week and all components work great. I was a little uneasy about ordering an LCD through the internet but Dave assured me it would arrive and it did. I tell all my friends to order from 6th Ave now. Thanks Dave.

Purchased a JVC GZ-HD5 at a great price, online ordering was fine, but called to verify availability as we wanted to take the new camcorder on vacation this weekend. Unit arrived on time and in excellent condition.
I should comment that I ran into a JVC display at the fair this past weekend, and was looking over the soon-to-be released HD camcorders, and when they heard the price I was getting from 6ave.com, the salesperson...trying to upsell me at the time...just said, "If they're legit, I'd jump on that price."
The only thing I found odd was that there was no way to track the order online. You receive an email stating it shipped, but no tracking number. If it's just going ground, no big deal, but we really wanted the device before we left. Ultimately, we called their support line and they gave me a tracking number to look up myself. I purchased the Shure SE530PTH earphones on 10/07/07 from 6ave.com via (Amazon.com).
6ave.com shipped the discontinued BRONZE/GOLD earphones instead of the new BLACK Shure SE530PTH that I ordered from Amazon (please see link below). Referencing Amazon.com is clear that the new BLACK SE530PTH earphones are the ones being offered.
I called 6ave.com twice and both exchanges resulted in conflicting information. The first person was abrupt and issued an RMA while the second person stated that the Shure
SE530PTH earphones were not available nor in stock. He asked me to place another order and I declined.
Though I have read that other retailers have been shipping the discontinued BRONZE SE530PTH earphones in place of the new BLACK SE530PTH earpones, it is clear what is advertised on Amazon.com and what is shipped is entirely different.
This is nothing short of a bait and switch gambit designed to dump discontinued stock.
Product I purchased:

Product 6ave.com shipped:

I purchased a DVR/VCR player from them but even after 8 days it had never arrived. I checked on the order at their web site and no information was shown. So, I called them and THEN they told me it was out of stock. No email notification of an order change. Nothing. Poor inventory control. Poor customer communication. Bad dog, Bad!

6Ave called a few days later with an extended warrenty to make it up to me. Not bad. This review was modified by its author, Zayphar, on

I placed an on-line order for a Pioneer PDP-4270 plasma because the online service said the unit usually ships in 1 – 3 days. The next day I got a call from 6th ave saying that they had checked the 4270 just prior to shipping it out and that it had "burnt pixels." This line was lame enough to make a grown man whimper like a baby, but it gets worse. The salesman continued on to explain that they would not be getting any more 4270s for at about 3 weeks, but that he could make me a deal on the 42 inch Elite model. The deal on the Elite model was actually tempting, but in reality it was just more money than I wanted to spend. So, I declined the bait-n-switch and canceled my order. Ok, so that’s not as bad as it gets. I then call my CC to find out that they already charged my CC before calling me to tell me it was out of stock. So I call back 6th ave and talk to a lady this time, she tells me that the guy who called me back to tell me about the "burnt pixels" can not cancel orders. I again try to cancel my order, but they could not credit my CC due to some reason that she did not explain very well. So, I call my CC and dispute the charge (Amex rocks!). Ok, so it gets worse. After buying the unit from another vendor and getting all the way to the point of selecting a date for the delivery service to deliver, I then get a call from another delivery service wanting to set up a delivery date for a unit that is coming from 6th ave. I declined the delivery.
This place is using very poor business practices and they lie like a rug.

Purchased a Big Screen TV from them and they had the best price, cheapest shipping and the service was spot on. Everything was perfect and the freight company called in advance. Simple easy swift transaction. I will buy again.

Wow, what a wait. I ordered a Pan VDR-D300 camcorder from them 12/31/06 for what seemed like a fantastic price. I get a confirmation of order email but days later still no shipment tracking email. I called only to find out that it takes 6-10 business days to process the order. Okay, so I wait until the 10th day and call. They say it will be anytime now, they are experiencing shipping delays. Then I receive an email stating that they are in an oversold situation (the website still says they are in stock) and that they are trying to get it from their retail stores and to give it another week at the latest. Okay, I'm patient, I wait and I get another email saying that they're really sorry, they're doing inventory and there is another delay for another week. To make up for it, they would send it by expedited shipment when they got it. I checked their site - the camcorder is no longer even listed. This was 1/23/07. I called and canceled my order and ordered from the big, and credible camera store on 9th ave. That store shipped it the next morning for only $10 more. Too bad for 6ave, I even bought some extras from the other store. I read another post about a one month wait. That is unacceptable. Unless there was 'reverse back in time' expedited shipping, this kind of business is unacceptable to the majority of shoppers. There are many choices out there for us shoppers. This is a good way for us to find another.
