Ebags is an opt-out junk mailer, with a bait-and-switch privacy policy, thus they cannot be trusted with your personal account information, which they may misuse for marketing purposes you did not authorize.
The specific example this time is TV Guide. Apparently, after unchecking the box on the order form, indicating my preference that my personal account information not be used for marketing purposes, by email or other means, customers are then expected to opt out yet again, or their personal account information will still be shared with outside companies, for marketing purposes (in this case, a free trial subscription to a magazine).
Where do they indicate this second opt-out? When you receive an order confirmation, scroll all the way to the bottom. There’s an asterisk, and some fine print, indicating, “Your paid order includes a 13 issue subscription to T.V. Guide,” along with the steps one has to take to prevent this from happening.
In my mind, I’ve already indicated my marketing preferences, on the first order form, so I’m no longer scrutinizing the fine print and disclaimers. I probably opened that order confirmation email five or six times, without even scrolling down that far.
Three weeks later, I find a TV Guide magazine in my mailbox. It’s got my name and address on it, and I have no idea where the hell it came from. I know for certain I didn’t subscribe to it. I don’t even watch TV.
So now, suddenly, I need to find out how payment was made on it, to make sure I didn’t get scammed. I needed to be certain magazine subscriptions haven’t been put on my credit card or something.
I ended up wasting an hour doing this. I called TV Guide, they say they got the order from Magazines.com. I call Magazines.com, and they say they got the order --in my name --from friggin’ Ebags.
I spoke to a manager at Ebags, and explained the problem. First, that I did not make any mistake filling in their order form, and would have expressed my marketing preference clearly on that form. Secondly, that any personal information I provided to them was for the sole purpose of placing an order with their company, and that anything else amounts to a misuse of that private information.
The manager I spoke to on the phone told me, basically, that the situation was entirely my fault because I “didn’t opt out properly.” I kid you not.
Any company that attempts to hide a second additional “opt-out,” that you must find or they will automatically share your private account information with outside companies, is acting in bad faith, and cannot be trusted. I won’t do business with them again.

Hi
I have ordered the Amsterdam Travelers choice 4 set luggage. The shiping was cool. But the luggage is not good quality wise. I flew from Miami to San Francisco by the time it reached .. the zip of one of my bags broke. and its ok for may be couple travels.. after that you need to buy another set. So by this I understood WYSIWYG

We placed two orders in the last few months. One item was a computer case on wheels, the second was a n aluminum briefcase. Both items were the lowest price available on the net. We received both items in perfect condition, promptly. Would use again and would recommend.

My experience was great I ordered the bag on the 15th and it got there on the 17th. I payed a total of 12.42 for a messenger bag they had on special. I did not pay extra for overnight or 2nd day service but none the less from oder date to arrival date was two days. The quality of the bag was nice and from my experience I would surely order from them again.

I had a similar to user: davemon's experience. I ordered a snowboard bag + backpack combo. I recieved my confirmation then the next day I received a notice stating that my order cancellation was a success. I replied to the e-mail to them stating that I never cancelled and I will want my order. They replied stating that they cannot give me my order and that the items I wanted were sold out. I replied requesting a raincheck since it was an very good deal, but I have not received a reply for them. It has been 2 weeks since my last e-mail. I highly suggest staying away from this site.

I ordered a $24 bag. One day later I got a cancelatino email. I was unsure of why my ordered was cancelled as I never cancelled the order and my credit card was already billed. There was no info nor substance in the email other than the fact that they cancelled my order. I called their 800 number but only got an answering machine. I check my order status online and there was none. They removed any record whatsoever of my order.
Meanwhile, after I made my purchase and before the cancellation I had already sold my previous pc of luggage that this new one was replacing.

Ok, my first review :P
I like this comment because they have a lot of user reviews on the products. The user reviews and the easy navigation really helped me in my selection from the huge selection. Ordered on 11/27 and got to me on 12/2.
I would recommend this company if you are looking for bags of any sort.

The Columbia Sportswear backpack arrived on the estimated time of arrival. I would purchase from eBags again if they carried a bag that I wanted to purchase.

I ordered the Lowepro D-Res 8S camera case from eBags on Sunday and chose UPS ground shipping. To my surprise, it came two days later on Tuesday. The case was in mint condition and was exactly as advertised on their website. Great prices, good discounts, large selection and excellent service. I'd definitely order from them again.

I purchased a Sumdex Powerbrief case from ebags on Sunday and had it in my possesion on Friday, they provided me with a tracking number and I was able to track my shippment. I am very satisfied with the deal and product I received, it came shipped in a well protected box and everything was in excellent condition. I would definately purchase from ebags again.

I first dealt with this company in May 2004. I was trying to purchase a Clava Tote bag. I placed my order over the phone and was checking the order process daily. On the third day when I could not find the information about my order I called the company. They stated that the color I had ordered was not in and I would have to wait 3 weeks for the shipment to arrive. I asked why they hadn’t informed me about this problem when they found out about it. They did not have an answer for me.
I called Clava directly and they told me Ebags had been informed 3 weeks earlier about the problem.
I wrote an email to Ebags and complained about the situation. This time I got an answer stating that on my next order I would receive a 20% discount and free shipping. I decided to wait as this particular bag was for a special trip and now it was too late to order.
On June 28th 2004 I decided to order and get my discount. I ordered over the phone, gave the service person my email and specifically asked that I be sent a confirmation email asap. He said “not a problem; I will do that right away.”
I tried checking my email and tracking my order. My account stated that I had no order, I tried calling the company.
The customer service in this company leaves a lot to be desired. Very rude on the phone and not helpful at all. I then called the Special Service Rep and got voice mail. Needless to say by this time I was getting pretty angry. Left a detailed message on her phone and got a call this morning. Come to find out the email was sent to my husband’s computer not mine.
The return phone call from this morning was very unpleasant and not caring. I will never do business with this company again and I would suggest if one does order from this company keep tabs daily until your merchandise arrives safely at your home.

I had a good experience with this seller. They have a huge selection of bags, low prices, even lower when there are sales and free shipping. Also,the return shipping is free. The order took 5 days to arrive. This review was modified by its author, Azndude51, on

My first couple of dealings with eBags were fairly
positive, but the most recent was an example of excellent
Service. I purchased a business case I'd been looking at
for awhile when it went on sale at a good price.
Ordered on Jan 17, confirmation for a Jan 27 delivery,,
it arrived early on the 23rd!
Everything looked OK with the bag (a US Luggage #941,,
nice roomy laptop bag), but only later I noticed the
shoulder strap was missing. And still later did I
contact eBags through their website on Jan 28 re:
the missing strap. Received an auto answer email within
12 hours,,received a personal email from them 3 Hours!!
after that explaining their line of action.
The next communication from them was 48 hrs later to
announce the shipment of the missing strap, and it
arrived on Feb 4.
They could easily have dropped the ball here, but instead
took care of a glitch in an effective and courteous manner.
