Got a great price on a nice camera. TriState customer service called after my order and offered a 4GB SCHD card for what seemed like a reasonable price. In retrospect, the card was a little overpriced. Overall a good experience. This review was modified by its author, markrosenleaf, on

Order came within a week in excellent condition. However, although I was given a link to track my order, I always received a message saying that no tracking was available. Therefore, I was not able to track this shipment as I was lead to believe.

I'm pleased with the camera and the price is perfect. I purchased a similar Nikon camera a year ago for retail price of $300. I got this one for 1/3 the price and it is working just fine. It was sent with all the attachments, cords, software etc. I recommend this seller.

I ordered a Sigma 70-200 Len from TriState Camera after extensive research on the web about the product. Everything went as smooth as web order can be and I got the len four days later. I got the lowest price I could found plus free shipping. What eles can you expect?
The number one concern for me to place order online is the lack of trust of some of the online stores. As many have experienced, I placed an order of a Canon 70-200 2.8L on an other web store with advertised price about $200 higher than Sigma, a good deal by number. As anticipated, a phone call came five minutes later and I was pushed to buy Sigma with the same price, which means $200 more. I refused and the next thing is a 'back order' email. I went to check the order status on the web site, it said 'Canceled'. I wonder if those guys ever do research on the Internet to see how others are doing and concern about how long they survive.
Anyway, my purpose is not to show the bad guys out there, but to let viewers know that there are good sites. We just need to share our experiences and publicize both good and bad. By the way, I just found TriState Camera has the best deal of Sigma 10-20 len I am looking for. I definitely will revisit when I saved enough.
Thanks and keep up the good wook!
-Ted

Never Again! Called for an advertised Nikon Speedlight (didn't have one) and sold me one that was identical, made by the same manufacturer, etc, and cost less money. Like a fool I bought it over the phone, checked on the net and found that others sold the same light for $85 less. That was bad enough, but they also overcharged my credit card $50. Just an oversight, a mistake, they told me, and quickly offered to subtract the $50 plus the $85 and let me have the strobe for the same price that everyone else sells it for. I didn't even open the package when it arrived, I sent it back, then called them 5 times over a 4 week period to find out where my refund was at. Each time was told it takes 7-10 days, refunds are issued from some other location, would look into it that day and issue the refund etc etc. It's been 4 weeks, called them again today, was told the same story verbatim, still haven't seen the refund. Will call Mastercard tomorrow and see if they might be of any help. I would probably shop elsewhere!

I bought a Sigma lens from this store online. The lens came on time and as I expected, but I realized that I bought the wrong lens and that's when thing went wrong. Living in NYC, I thought I would go to the store and exchange the wrong lens with one that matches my camera. Wrong. The guy in the store said he had no direct link with the warehouse in New Jersey (online purchases) and he couldn't take the lens back. So, back home, I asked for RMA# and shipped back the lens. I was shipped the second week of August. We are now I October 2009, and I still didn't get the money back on my credit card. Already called 4 times, the guy said he will process the credit "tomorrow", but he is obviously lying. I guess now I will have to file a complaint and from now on I will buy my camera stuff elsewhere.

I was really impressed when a rep. called to confirm my order and recommend another product instead of the one I ordered to make sure my camera would work efficiently. Most of the time it's what you asked for, right or wrong.'
I will use this company again.

Order:
1 x Canon 10-22mm lens (Wide angle)
1 x Tokina 10-17mm lens (Fish Eye)
After placing my order I received an email from them asking me to call them asap. I called and they wanted to inform me that the two camera lenses I ordered were very similar, and that I would save around $300 by just ordering a Phoenix fisheye adapter for the Canon lens, instead of two separate lenses.
After doing some research, I called them again and told them I wanted to stick with my initial order, since I believe the picture quality of an adapter is not good enough for my use. I also added a couple of bags for my lenses to the order, along with a hood for the 10-22. Again, they advised me to choose a no-name hood, to save me a couple dollars.
+++ Helpful and honest customer service.
These guys are NOT out to get your money. They have affordable prices and it seems like their main purpose is to make the customer happy.
- The only minus was the shipping time. It took 7(!) days for me to get the package after the order was completed. I live in Colorado, so it should not take that long. In comparison, Newegg got their package delivered in 3 days.
Regardless, these guys come highly recomended.

I typically deal with very few online stores on the internet that are typically located in the North Eastern part of the USA. Just research ResellerRatings.com and you will see how many scamming companies are from the east! I have dealt with over the last 25 years with J&R Music World, B&H, Adorama, with absolutely no complaints!
This was my first order with TriState. There were a few negative reviews here on Reseller Ratings, but they didn't bother me too much... so I thought I would give them a try! After placing my order online over the weekend, I received an email to call Peter Ryan at ext. 222. I did that and he reviewed my order. The other companies listed above don't have you call them that I am aware of. This kind of tactic can result in high pressure sales to purchase other products and is a companies way to pad their sales. Peter 1st checked to see what camera I was putting my expensive lens I ordered from them on... I see this as a real positive as lenses can be confusing for beginners and I am sure everyone hates returns. After verifying my lens would fit, he then offered the usual filters and such to complement my lens. There was no hard sell... I didn't need anything else they offered. Peter quickly verified my other info and final price and said it would be shipped free that day. Peter was professional, accurate, a little abrupt in his demeanor (rushed?), (I find this typical of easterners and not a dig at Peter, but not your sales experience you would get with a business such as Crutchfield!!!) I was expecting the order to take about a week to get here and was surprised to see it get here by Thursday... Pretty impressive! They do require signatures for orders so just be ready to be at the delivery location when the UPS man arrives! The packaging of the lens was excellent even though UPS looked like they drop kicked it, thanks to the packers at TriState... Lens was undamaged! Overall... I would rate my experience 4.5 out of 5 stars. If this is TriState's typical service... I wouldn't hesitate to buy there again..... but it almost didn't happen! I don't understand why they don't become a member of ResellerRatings.com I ALMOST didn't give them a chance because of this. Come on TriState... my great experience shows that being a member would entice others to buy, and might offset whatever costs you have with more sales based on your affiliation with ResellerRatings. One thing I would like Tristate to do is put a recommendation of products link on their website. There are a few brands of items that their direct competitors carry that they don't, and I could have given them about $400.00 more business that day if they carried those brands... I guess you can't have everything! Peace! This review was modified by its author, sirluke, on

Ordered camera on Thursday. They called and left a voicemail on Friday but went ahead and shipped anyway. I received the camera by the following Tuesday. No problems.

I was very leery of ordering from Tri-State because of all the negative reviews. I gambled and ordered something I felt was "harmless" and wouldn't require me to call or have many issues. I ordered body armor for my camera. I did get a strange email from them titled "invoice" yet it was completely blank. I did not pursue it because, again from all the negative reviews about calling and them trying to sell you something else I was scared. The body armor came within the time specified, I had no problems with the item. I would still be cautious of any on-line electronic store.

They did not have the camera they advertized. I was asked to call them back and at that time they tried to sell me a more expensive camera. Although they were very quick to charge my account for the camera, the refund for the non-existent camera was not as forthcoming. I had to hold for an eternity when I called to find out what gives.
