This is the second time I've dealt with Case-mod.com. The first time, I had problems. My order was delayed. This was a few years ago, so I thought I'd give them another chance. That was a mistake.

I placed my order on January 19th. By the 24th, I'd heard nothing regarding the status of my order. I emailed them and they told me that it was a problem with the powersupply, and that the manufacturer would drop ship it. The rest of my order would ship that day. I told them that this was fine. By the 26th, my order still had not shipped. I emailed them once again, and my email was ignored. It did finally ship that day. I received the power supply a few days later. On 2/3 I received the rest of the parts, only to discover that 3 out of 4 of the fans I'd ordered, my ATA cable, and one of my dual green cathodes were all on backorder and didn't ship. I was never notified of this until my box showed up...missing pieces.

Successful retailers keep their customers informed of problems, they don't just ship half an order. I will NEVER do business with case-mod.com again, and will discourage anybody else I know from doing so. Had I actually been contacted and my emails answered, I would have been ok with the delay. However, if I need to go elsewhere and pay a few bucks more just to keep informed, I'll do so.

I ordered from case-mod because they had the specific case I was looking for. Customer support was good for the most part. I emailed them about paying for my order via money order and the next week they put money order as a payment method on the site. Sadly, though, when I finally recieved my case I found that it was not the specific style shown on the site. For 80+$ I would have expected better. Shipping was fast and cheap though.

They didn't include everything with the case, the screws and the keys were left out. They did not replace them either.

We gave him complete information including phone number, email, and address of the manufacturer so he could obtain a set of keys for the case.

I ordered a Kingwin water cooling kit and Arctic Silver 5 with the FedEx 4-day shipping option late on 10/7.

The first e-mail I received from Case Mod came 10/7 confirming my order. On 10/8, I received an “order update” e-mail stating "Kingwin shipped separately" and that I would receive a tracking number from FedEx soon. But, I never received an e-mail from FedEx. 4 days later: Tuesday (10/12), I got a UPS (not FedEx) tracking number for the Kingwin kit. The UPS site reported that Case Mod chose two-day shipping on the 12th. It came on 10/14 - the day it was supposed to arrive by FedEx.

UPDATE: After reviewing my comments, Case Mod told me that my kit came from their sister warehouse where FedEx is not available.

As for the Arctic Silver: I received that via standard mail (USPS) two days later (10/16). The packaging -- which was FedEx branded -- said it had shipped 10/8 and because it came through the postal service halfway across the country, it just took an entire 8 days to get all the way to me. (This includes the date it was shipped and the date it was received and excludes Sunday.)

UPDATE: Case Mod told me they are currently investigating this mistake.

Luckily, I was not in a time crunch, but it would have been nice to have the Arctic Silver on time so I could install the Kingwin water cooler with my favorite thermal compound.

My first experience with case-mod.com left me with a bad impression. Here's how it went:

2/3 (tue)- ordered fan grills that showed "in stock" on the site.

2/6 (fri)- sent inquiry as to why my order hadn't shipped.

2/8- received email saying they were out of stock, but would have more in a week. They asked if i wanted to wait or cancel. I agreed to wait.

2/10- received another email saying they'd be in stock 2/18. I again agreed to wait for them.

2/16- my bank was refunded the purchase amount. I did not request this.

3/3- received email stating that they "aren't able" to get my item in stock. Since a full month had passed at this point, I requested that my order be cancelled.

3/4- received email stating that my order had been cancelled.

3/5- received email stating that my order had shipped.

3/16- Grills arrived a few days prior to my check card being charged again, causing overdraft on my account. Luckily I was charged no bank fee due to checking/savings rollover protection, but if i'd been broke and not just voluntarily keeping my checking account low... it would have sucked.

To case-mod.com's credit, they were quick to respond to my emails and polite through the whole fiasco. They had the lowest price on my item by far, which is why I decided to keep the order I cancelled.

My advice to prospective customers is to avoid using their online ordering system. Call them to verify your item is in stock and place your order over the phone. Hopefully a real person could do a better job of determining what is and is not in stock than their website.

I ordered $86 worth of products from this site, consisting of SLK-800, 2 cathodes, 4 fans, LED's, as3. Right after I ordered i recieved my email confirmation of my order, and sat back to wait for my order.
I never got any other email from case-mod again, ever. I never got any tracking number either. Their FAQ is way out of date as well. I tried to use their reference tracking number on airborne express site (this is what their faq said to do). But it didn't work so I called them up long distance (no toll free number) and they explained how they use fedex to ship now. ok..

So my package arrives on Thurs. I'm excited and open up the package.... just to find that half the stuff is missing. My slk-800 and 2 fans are missing from the box. I look at the invoice and it has the 2 fans highlighted and comments: backordered. Ok so the website said in stock but it's actually backordered. There was nothing said about the slk-800, it just wasn't included in the package. I called them up immediately (long distance) and after about three tries, someone picks up. They said my fans are backorderd until monday and my slk-800 was shipped out yesterday (meaning wednesday). Of course I got no email or phone call about any of this. They expect you to either forget about it or call them back yourself at your expense.

On monday I call again and ask for a tracking number since of course they don't update you by email or phone. I reconfirm with the fellow I'm talking to on the phone and ask him "so this package should include both the thermalright and the two fans right?" he says "yes that's everything".

On Wed. Fedex Ground says i wasn't home but I was right next to the door on the comp the entire day so i dunno.. anyway, I got my package Thursday and opened it to find.. two fans. My slk-800 is still missing. There is no note or invoice or anything inside the box. As usual, no email or phone call about the situation. I call them up again and explain my situation to one person. He says the slk-800 should have been shipped. hmmm. I say it wasn't. I forgot to mention that the fedex tracking site and the package both say the weight was 1.0lb. I was POSITIVE a huge copper heatsink would way at LEAST 1.1lb which would make the site say 2.0lb (they round up). He said he'll call me back after he talks with his manager about this problem. About three hours later I call them back (long distance, mind you) and a different person picks up and I explain everything to him again. Finally he agrees to send my my slk-800. He says the estimate time it will arrive is monday. I tell him I've waited two weeks for my stuff.. and since I live in LA and they're in San Jose, it's rediculous i've waited this long for my products to arrive. So he agrees to shop by fedex overnight. They actually call me back in 30 mins and gave me my tracking number. I recieved my package as promised on Friday.

Well there's my story. My comments on case-mod is that they are very unorganized and irresponsible in dealing with their customers. I only recieved ONE email throughout the entire process (actually i recieved another automated fedex email like a week after i got my package). Maybe I'm just too used to newegg's 3-4 emails per order. I never received any info on why my slk-800 wasn't in the package. I was also given false information about my slk-800 being shipped on 7/9 when it really wasn't even packaged until friday, 7/11 to be shipped on the following monday, 7/13.

But with these truck loads of complaints.. there are bits of positives. They ammend the problems (lots of them) quickly and come to a solution. The operators are patient and calm and try and fix the situation.

It seriously looks like it would best be ordering products over the phone.. that way you can get inventory update, tracking number, and have everything you want answered, answered.

I can honestly say that they are horribly unorganized. It would seem as though they are running this website out of someones basment. I knew the prices were too good to be true, so I emailed the Customer Service Dept. I SPECIFICALLY asked if they had the items I wanted to order in stock.
I got this:
>Hello Sir,
>
>Yes, we do have both of those items in stock. Thank you for your inquiry.

So I went ahead and I placed my order July 7th. I did not get any emails about orders until I emailed and asked for a status check on my order where I was told:

>Dear Sir or Madam,
>We would like to inform you that the following >items from order number: XXXX are out of stock.
>Thermalright Sk-7

To which I replied that I wouldn't be ordering from them again. They replied and told me they were sorry and the item would go out Thursday, the 10, and I would get a tracking number from Fedex. I got neither. I called and they guy said that they were backordered until Monday, and mine would go out on Monday (the 14th). It is tuesday, and I called and was told that they had run out AGAIN and I was put on BACKORDER AGAIN!!! UNTIL THURSDAY!!! So far, I am not happy with the service.

Not the worst I've delt with, but not the best either, as far as shipping is concerned. One of my components was backordered, which I received a day lated. They never notified me ahead of time that it would be backordered. Some of my components in my order (a 80mm chrome fan and some blue LEDs) were missing from the order. They just sent those out today. Their customer service is great though. responded to my email within a few hours. They would save a lot on their shipping costs if they sent everything in one box, I'm waiting on the third package containing parts of my order. Items were packaged well, but I hate those styrofoam peanuts :) . All in all, they made an honest mistake in my order but they did a good job taking care of it. After a reasonable $5.34 shipping cost, they've had to send me three packages. Case-mod is a reliable and friendly dealer, and fortunately I wasn't in too much of a hurry to get my order. I finished my ReplayTV window mod with CCFL lights and it looks awesome. Case-mod.com isn't a fly-by-night but they're not perfect either. all-in-all I'd probably buy from them again, but I'd hope they do better getting everything right and on my doorstep in one box next time.

I ordered a waterblock and rounded cables on sunday evening. I expected my stuff to be shipped monday but it was still "processing", so I let that slide. Checked the status on tuesday evening, it still says "processing", I was a bit angry but though they must be busy for some reason. I check today and it's still processing, I don't know any online stores that takes 3 full days to process an order. This will be my last shopping with them.

Edit: I got the package today March 4, 2003 and they sent the wrong block! what a way to piss me off after over a week of waiting for a waterblock they send me the wrong one. Very poor business as they took 3 days to ship my order.

I only received 71% of my order, only one item was marked as being out of stock. I received no email/call concerning the out of stock item until the package arrived (missing 7 items).
I contacted them and they were very receptive regarding the missing items and they are being shipped out (hopefully) as I write this.

Prices at case-mod.com were hard to beat and the items are quality. This was a first time purchase from them. Making another through them might take some serious thinking. It was a good thing I was not in dire need of any of the items I ordered.

I think resellerratings needs to remove "Online order tracking" and "Customer Support" from the list of supported services above. My order has been "pending" on case-mod.com since I ordered it 5 business days ago. I sent an email 2 days ago from my email address, and another early yesterday through Google Checkout and have received no response from case-mod.com. I wouldn't mind if it was backordered or drop shipped, or even if they were on vacation from new years, I just want SOME kind of response. If I knew the status of my order I could at least stop worrying about it. As of now my credit card HAS been charged, but I don't have a clue what the status of my order is. VERY poor communication, NO phone number, and as far as I can tell a non-functional "order status" page on their site.

UPDATE: Sunday, Jan. 6 - got an email from case-mod.com saying they were on vacation and my order will be shipped within the next 24 hours.

UPDATE 2: Sunday, Jan. 6 - I requested a shipping upgrade for my troubles, this was their response: Since you are in Southern California, FedEx Home Delivery is the best way to go since it is guaranteed to be there Wednesday. Instead of a shipping upgrade, we’ve included a free mouse pad for you and hope it works with the new mouse.

They also claimed to be under new management since 1/1/08. That may be true, but it would have been VERY simple to put a little note on the front page of their site saying they'd be gone and nothing would ship until the 7th. As of Sunday night my order status is changed to shipped and I have a tracking number... even though it won't be picked up until Monday.

UPDATE 3: Wednesday, Jan. 9 - received my package. FedEx left it on the doorstep, even though I never requested that happen, I'm just glad I was home sick from work. Everything was packaged fine, but I got the small mobile version of the mouse I ordered, not the full desktop sized one. Nowhere on the case-mod.com product description does it state the mouse would be a mobile version. The product description is DIRECTLY copy/pasted from the manufacturers website. I sent an email to case-mod.com hoping to get a response today, I offered to ship the mouse back if they can cross-ship the correct one. Still no phone number to contact them.

UPDATE 5: 1/11/08 Got an email back with a return shipping label and a promise to ship me the correct mouse when it is in stock next week, all at no extra cost to me. Looks like they ARE reliable.. just slooooooowwww to respond.

I placed an order on Monday December 3rd, 2007. I received a Welcome email and an order confirmation email, immediately. However, on Wednesday the 4th I checked their website to see if anything had happened with my order and the status was "Pending". My credit card cleared the charge on 12/05/07. I emailed them on Wednesday the 5th to find out what the status of my order was and got no reply. I also tried calling them on Friday the 7th of December (their phone number showed up on my credit card statement) to only get a generic answering machine message. I also emailed them on the 7th and still have not gotten a response to the status of my order. I understand that it is the Holiday season and that the might be busy, however an email letting me know the progress of my order would be appreciated, a "Pending" status on my order after my card has been charged has kind of got me wondering of the legitimacy of this company especially since they claim to ship 90 to 98% of their orders within 24 to 48 hours.
{At Case-Mod.com, our aim is to ship all orders as soon as possible. We are able to ship all in stock items within 24 hours. In fact, 90% of orders ship in less than 24 hours and 98% of orders have shipped within 48 hours. Some orders placed on Sundays may ship out on Tuesday. Please do not contact us about the shipment of order until a reasonable time has passed. From time to time, items may become backordered or discontinued. We will contact you to inform you if there are any changes to the status of you order. You can check the status of your order by logging into your account and viewing your "Order History."} Taken directly from Case-Mods website, in the Shipping and Returns Link.
As of right now I am not satisfied with the way my order has been handled, all I want is a response to know that my order is either being shipped, backordered or does not exist. I will try faxing them today and see if that gets a response. I have ordered many things online and this is by far the most frustrating experience I have had.

This customer's order was shipped in 48 hours on 12/5 and delivered to his home on 12/10 as scheduled. Just a bit overzealous as some others who come to post here against retailers. We always encourage the 100's of customers who have positive experiences to post here to offset some of these types of posts. This customers order shipped in 48 hours yet he posts a 'very dissatisfied'.

So far, I am very disappointed. They have not reply to my emails nor will they answer the phone.

My CC was charged but the order status is "pending" so I email them to ask when the order would be shipped. I have not heard from them.

Their website claims that 90% of the orders are shipped with 24 hrs and 98% within 48 hrs. So does that means there is a problem with my order?

All I want is some sort of communication.

I will withhold a "Very Dissatisfied" rating until Monday Sept. 24th.

------------------
Update: Sept 24th
------------------
Well, I finally heard from them. My item was not in stock (even though their site stated that it was in stock) thus the delay. I will leave my rating as neutral since my order will be shipped today.

I would have left a positive rating if they would have just contacted me when they realized that they didn't have my item in stock. Instead, they waited two days and only after numerous emails did they inform me of the delay to my order.

If we screw up an order, we will definitely admit it (see above post). This order, however, is not one of those cases.

This customer was just a bit overzealous, which is the case for most negative ratings people post on this site (except for the guy above, we did screw up his order, and we're the first to admit it). He placed an order late Wednesday afternoon for a $6 cathode light with regular USPS shipping. Friday at 7am we received the first of *6* emails from him asking about the order. Though he did read from our website that most orders are generally shipped in 2 days he decided to start sending numerous emails after just one day and leave a negative rating here early in the afternoon before the 2 days had even passed; he didn't even wait until the end of the day for us to response to his numerous emails. One email asking about the order status would have been sufficient.

We did respond to his emails the same day, Friday, and he was told that his order was unable to ship on Thursday, but he should expect an update email with tracking information within 24 hours. He did receive an update email with a tracking number over the weekend and he received his items during the week.

With regards to the item he ordered, we consider 2 days within regular processing times. So in this customer's case, an item was on backorder, but order was expected to ship within 48 hours, so no email was sent. Of course, if there was to be any delay more than 2 days, or if there was an upgraded shipping method (ex: if he had overnight shipping in which case the customer would expect to receive the order before the weekend) we would have emailed him as soon as possible.

As we have mentioned numerous times in the past, anyone who orders from us, does receive their parts. We are an honest family run business and do communicate with customers. Sometimes people can be overzealous in posting here, but sometime we also deserve a negative rating once in a while. Once again, this rating was undeserved.
