Potential Customer Beware! www.dbuys.com sells gray market/import cameras as US market ones. This has happened to me! I ordered Canon 5D Mark II camera (order# 0398453F) that was advertised as "...Condition: Brand New, USA Warranty." Upon arrival, I noticed that standard Canon registration card is missing but instead there was "home-made" card that required me to register camera at Brooklyn's P.O. Box. The 800 number for the warranty repair was "disconnected or no longer in service." Local dealer at Murphy’s Camera upon looking at the box and warranty card told me that this is gray market camera. I called dbuys and asked for refund. They tried to mislead me again by swearing that it was indeed US market model, and offered me “to order the warranty card from Canon for my camera’s serial number”. After I told them I did not want the camera of questionable quality, they offered to give me 3 years extended warranty for free. Finally, they told me to send camera back but advised about restocking fee. I'm in process of reversing the charges. However, it took me a lot of nerves and missed day of photography. And it is still not over. Please, use reputable sellers. This one is not! I would give it 0 if I could.
They said they will give me the tracking number, but they did not. So I tried to call to cancelled the order. I followed the instruction, but it was on hold for many times, wasting me an hour.
Finally, I called the ext 518, still get transferred to the "on hold" line.
I think they call caller ID, which they did not even answer my call and switch it to "on hold" line.
Called half hour later, finally the gentleman took my call. This is the best Dbuys.com done for me so far. I cancelled the order and they totally agreed since they have NO stock.
There were quite a few bad reviews, which scared me away from ordering my Sony HDR-SR11 Handycam from Dbuys, but I went ahead and ordered an $200 accessories package for the SR11 from them, which turned out to be a great deal, just like I hoped. I called customer service and spoke with Sara, who was very nice and told me accurately that my order would ship out later the same day. The only problem that I had was that the order was a little slow in coming--I ordered it on 2/22/09 and it shipped on 2/27/09, which was a little slow, but everything was there in good condition and I saved a bundle on this package (zoom lens, wide angle lens, 2 tripods, UV filters, 8 gb flash card, camera case, backup battery, more, free shipping)--us1photo had a similar package for $400 instead of $200. Overall I was looking for a "deal" and I got one. They were a little slow, but I would definitely order from them again, if they had the best deal I could find.... :)
Ordered a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver through these guys. Receiver was delivered quickly however the HDMI inputs/output were defective. Also come to find out the product was grey market. Unable to exchange or return the product due to dbuys policies. Bottom line....don't let the price fool you. Avoid this seller.
Bought a camera from Central Digital, which claims on most product pages, "Shop with confidence! All products we carry are factory sealed, complete with all factory supplied accessories, and a full manufacturers USA warranty."
It just wasn't true. This was obviously an imported item, because it came with a non-USA power cord. This camera company does not warranty products that are not purchased in this country.
I bought a SONY Camcorder HDR-SR12 on 9/24 from Dbuys and it said it's in stock but it was shipped out on 10/9. I called to check my order status on 10/9 and the telephone manner was NOT TOO bad. I am glad at least eventually a camera shop honor its price and shipment.
I purchased a digital camera from ibuyplasma.com which was experiencing immediate technical malfunctions upon it's first use. Dissatisfied with the product, I sent it back within the 10-day return slot, and was assisted by a helfpul customer service representative, Doug, in resolving the return. So although the product itself was defective, the level of customer service received was phenomenal.
I attempted to purchase a video camera for the government agency I work for. I should have researched more before ordering from this company (poor judgement on my part). I got the "please call and verify your order" email. This of course means that you call and they try to pressure you into buying more accessories. I (very politely) declined any package deals. The "salesman" immediately became agitated and called me a "wiseguy". NO LEGITIMATE BUSINESS would use that kind of language or tone. I asked for my order to be cancelled, and the "salesman" became even more agitated. I informed him NOT to process the order and that I would be ending the phone call. The "salesman" then called the office back several times, asking to speak to multiple people before then calling my private line back to call me an "a**hole"!!??. In retrospect, I regret being so polite. Not a legitimate business.

Like other customers, I bought a Canon 40D, and did not receive the Canon USA warranty, even though it is advertised with a "Manfuacturer's Warranty". The warranty card is generic, without any specific mfr or product identification.
Canon USA customer service tells me that I may still receive service through them, and to only keep my invoice.
I bought a Canon 40D body only which is advertised on their website as USA warranty.
What I received was a grey market/imported version of Canon 40D + 17-85 lens kit, which of couse they removed the lens from the package.
The manual looks like a photocopy (black and white) and very small, very different than the Canon's original green color larger size manual. The photocopy booklet is considerably smaller, it is hard to read.
The package is also missing the Pocket Guide.
The warranty card is NOT from Canon USA but store warranty.
I tried to submit my review of this store at pricegrabber.com but they censored / didn't approve my review. Dbuys.com has good rating at pricegrabber. It is apparent now to me that pricegrabber protects bad vendors like dbuys and don't care whatsoever to REAL customer experience like mine.
I phoned in and placed an order with Michael for a Canon 40D and an EF-70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens. I specifically asked Michael that the lens be the IS lens since Canon had an older non-IS lens which is what was listed on their website and I did not want that. He put me on hold to check and a few minutes later came back telling me that it is indeed the IS lens. After putting on the hard sell to get me to buy some additional accessories (I think they have a list of over-priced stuff that they're required to try and sucker you into) which I successfully fended off the order was finalized and placed.
A week later I receive the order and lo and behold the lens they shipped me is the non-IS lens that I specifically told him I did not want. A couple of work days of phone calls and emails to their "customer service" department went by without a single response from them. So I called up again and asked for "sales" (I think this is the only number they actually reply to) and got a hold of Michael (BTW he may be the only guy really working there) to tell him about the mixup. OK so he gives me an RMA number to return the lens for an exchange and a new price (of course according to Michael the price they had charged me before was not for the IS lens).
So I send the lens back, it takes a week for them to get the lens. Still no phone call or emails from them saying that they’ll ship the correct lens. I call three more times to see what the status of their shipping to me of the correct lens is, and finally they tell me that the exchange has been processed and that they will send me an email tomorrow with the tracking number for the exchange lens. Surprise ! the next day came and went without a single call or email from Dbuys. So at this point I need to bother to call them every day until they finally send this lens to me.
Bottom line, this is my first and LAST purchase with this sorry outfit.
i purchased new laptop from dbuys.com without the warranty. and then a salesman from the company called me, and persuaded me to buy warranty on the laptop through them and he claimed that the warranty is good for all toshiba service centers. my toshiba laptop had some issue with its built-in tv tuner, and called toshiba, and they knew nothing about this warranty from dbuys.com. i found more about this warranty. it's MACK warranty (www.mackcam.com), and i need to send my laptop to NJ state to get it fixed where toshiba's service center is 4 miles away from my home in VA state. i called dbuys.com, and try to get a refund for the warranty, and they give ratshit about it. first they said 10% restocking fee for the warranty. second they said 10% off from the original warranty price which is a lot more that what i have paid. specifically, i paid 213.99 for the warranty. according to their calculation, they'll refund only $160. i tried to talk to them, but they abruptly hung up the phone. i'll sue this guy if they don't pay me back.
if u don't want to go through this shit, and don't buy from this ghetto online vendor.
Great service. Very easy to speak with helpful customer service reps, reasonable price and very fast delivery. The product was exactly what we ordered and was shipped the day after we placed the order. One of the best internet transactions we've ever been a part of - would definitely buy here again.
