Company is really overpriced. Won't even match other prices found on Pricewatch.com. Excessive restocking fees. Good customer service, horrible management. Buy from someone else.

I purchased a power supply from Directron. The power supply was defective and appears to have damaged my motherboard. They at first said they would charge me a 10% restocking fee for returning the defective power supply, and only said they wouldn't after I called to complain. They also refuse to accept any responsibility for the damage to my motherboard. Not what I expected from a company with their reputation.

VERY impressed with these guys. I ordered a case, which was $40 cheaper than anywhere else I found. I had it shipped UPS ground, and it arrived in less than 24 hours. Now, I am only about 3 hours away, which explains UPS being so fast, but most of the dealers I have ordered from lately take 2-3 days just to process the order. I placed another order with them 10 minutes ago, and if it goes as smoothly as the last, they may just become my default supplier.
Update- THe last order just arrived. One of the items is backordered, but I knew that when I ordered it. Very happy with them.

I received my order in a relatively timely manner (for ground shipping). It was well packaged and everything was as expected.
Will use Directron.com again.

This is a follow up to my initial post on 03-22-02. After expressing my concerns about the shipping charges not being credited on my RMA, Directron credited my account for the shipping charges. This company is very fair, and I will order from them again.

I purchased a graphics card from this company. It arrived (1) week later and was DOA. I sent it back for a replacement, but in the meantime, the item was out of stock. I asked for credit back on my account which I received (22) days after the item had been sent back to the company. This company has good prices. My only complaint is the company charged me the $6.29 shipping charge for sending me a defective card. I had no problem paying for the return charges, because that is listed in their return policy. I felt it was unfair to not credit me for the original shipping charges. It was not my fault the card they send was defective.

Sorry to hear about the problem. I wish to make the following explanation:
(1) We are aware that our customer communication for pick-up orders is not quite efficient as desired. The person you talked to or emailed should know that an item is out of stock for your order before giving an answer. We are working on improving it.
(2) Our web site does not have a system for monitoring product availability or inventory for most items. As a result, it's quite possible to order an item that's already out of stock. However, that does not happen very often since we frequently mark items that are sold out. That process is time-consuming since it's done manually. We are in the process of automating the process.
(3) The order is automatically authorized/allocated online. Our order processing department does not know the stock situation before processing the order. An item may be charged but later informed by the warehouse as out of stock. This happens only to 1 or 2 percent of our total products. The sequence of the process is debatable, however, we find it most efficient in an overall asseessment.
I hope the above helps.
We are processing your refund immediately. It should have been completed and an e-mail notice being sent to you.

I love purchasing from this company. Prices aren't bad, shipping is cheap and fast (they get things out the door quickly), they have almost any accessory you need for assembling computers, and I like the suggestions for other parts related to the part you are purchasing (power supply caps and power cords for example when you purchase a power supply). Dealing with this company is a great time saver for me!

I'm very disappointed with the customer service at Directron. The monitor I ordered was out of stock (a Viewsonic G90fb). Not only did they not tell me that it was out of stock when I ordered it, the told me my order was ready to be picked up! To me, that means the order is complete. I didn't find out that the monitor was not available until my mother got there to pick the order up for me.
As a further insult, I check my credit card and they had already charged me for the monitor that they didn't have. IMHO, this isn't just bad customer service, it's fraud.

Ordered an Alpha 8045 HSF with the Panaflo Quiet 80 mm fan. But my Alpha heatsink didn't come with almost all of the necessary screws, washers, standoffs, etc. Filed a discrepency report and talked to customer service and they told me that the heatsink was now back ordered so they couldn't send me the missing parts until a week later. Geez!!! First time buying experience with them so not sure if I would go through them again.

I'm a home user who was a pro geek for about 15 years, and I've been buying and selling things in business most of my life. I'm not cynical; I'm experienced. These folks sold me a couple of very good products at excellent prices with reasonable shipping & handling charges. My new keyboard and speakers showed up when promised and work great. They're in Houston and appear to get some Dell overstock which means you can get some very good peripherals dirt cheap. There is also a user community on the site which is how I got the keyboard driver without having to look for it myself. Everything they have ain't the cheapest, but you DO get what you pay for when you expect it.

I have placed at least 10 orders with Directron.com in the past, for myself or a friend. They have great service, short delivery times, and low prices. The additional discounts they offer for previous customers, almost pays for my shipping every time. I use Directron.com as the benchmark for any online computer store I go to.
