I ordered with this merchant on the advice of a client. The merchant sold me a Shuttle Barebones advertised as new. The mother board installed in the Shuttle case was missing the BIOS chip and some of the baggies of parts in the box showed signs of having been used before. Merchant's customer services was horrible and slow to respond. They couldn't resolve the issue for me and their support and return process so difficult that you can't get anything resolved. NewEgg.com would have given me better service and better prices. I will avoid Directron in the future.

This item was brand new and was never sold to another customer. This customer filled out our online RMA form but failed to ship the unit back to be replaced. On 09/03/09 after seeing this review and having this issue brought to our attention for the first time, we contacted the customer and offered to email him a pre-paid UPS label to send this unit back for a brand new replacement. The customer declined the offer and stated he had purchased another unit elsewhere and did not need to send anything back.
All of our policies and instructions for returns/discrepancy reports are made available on our home page and printed at the bottom of every invoice.
Seller advertises low prices...upon checkout, shipping charges are 2-3 times what comparable vendors charge. My issue with the company regarded shipping costs. Contact with the company was maddening...Not until me threatening posting bad reviews (like this one) did they offer to resolve the problem in a way that satisfied BOTH parties. Originally they were going to charge me $16.50 for shipping (and returning)a $32.95 part that I never even received! We eventually agreed to meet halfway on the shipping costs, just to resolve the conflict...There are MANY reputable vendors out there who offer excellent customer service and problem resolution...Read the rest of the following customer reviews and then decide who you have confidence in buying from.

This customer ordered the wrong item from our website. He contacted us to cancel the order, which had already shipped. We agreed to give the customer a full refund minus the 10.00 delivery intercept fee which is charged by UPS and the customer agreed. His email is quoted below:
"As I am quite familiar with running a business and know how shipping costs affect all of us...I will accept your offer...Please credit the
$34.45 back to my account and we will call it even."
I bought a controller for my media center and when I received it it wasn't working properly. If a store sells something that is broken I will not pay to return it then pay for them to send me a new one again. i'm very unsatisfied with the site and will never order or recommender this store to anyone else. I've never had a problem with any one else not paying for shipping for broken goods.
Ordered a video tuner after comparison shopping online. Unfortunately, the company's website links to the WRONG (but very similar) product, so I ended up placing an order for something I couldn't use.
BOTTOM LINE: Company offers NO exchange policy, long hold times to speak to a real person, and then, get this: REFUND ONLY (!!) with a 15% RESTOCKING FEE. Plus I've got to pay to ship it back to them, and no consideration for the shipping I've already paid for. Fuhgeddaboudit!! Sure, partly my fault, but these guys are not interested in customer relations.
I contacted the company with the intent of ordering the correct product from them if they'd been willing to work with me, but instead I got attitude from a nasty CSR. The thing is going on EBay, what a fricking waste of time. [plus, the price on the correct item wasn't competitive]
This merchants service far below satisfactory.
1) After ordering an item from them on May 15 I received a telephone call on May 16th stating the order was 'on hold' and I needed to register my ship to with the credit card issuer.AT no time during the order process was I informed that this would be the case.
2) rather than do this I called them on May 16th and cancelled the order
3) The customer service rep I spoke with said I would receive an e-mail confirmation of the cancellation, which I did not receive
4) I had to call AGAIN on may 18th and spoke with a representative who told me the ORDER WASN'T CANCELLED. I then told him to cancel the order AGAIN and received an e-mail confirmation
5) On the 20th of May, I noted the 'HELD ORDER' had been charged to my credit card.
%)If you do not see the problem with situation then go ahead and order from these turkeys, you get what you deserve
This was my first time ordering from Directron. UPS returned the motherboard after 3 failed delivery attempts (no 5-day hold for pickup). I was charged for roundtrip shipping for an item I did not receive.
Newegg, for example, would refund the shipping cost but not Directron.

This stuff was to be new and looked
like it came from a 20yr old swap meet.
It would not pass for new and not only
that I was suppose to get a 3 percent
discount which they never applied.
They sell Used Stuff at this store
and you cant trust if yours is going
to be new or switched with used stuff
so they can make a better buck.
there shipping is high also.
BEWARE my Friends
I dont trust them after that Last order.
BEWARE
This was my first purchase from Directron and NEVER AGAIN! I purchased a surveillance system that arrived with no hard drive. The ad said it had a hard drive, the box it is in says hard drive included and it is on the spec sheet on the box. I contacted Directron for them to tell me it does NOT come with a hard drive. I contacted the manufacture and they assured me that it DOES come with a hard drive. Now lets see how long it takes to get a refund!!!!!!
Worst experience on-line in a long time. Ordered and was given a tracking number on Wednesday afternoon with an email that stated if you have a tracking number the package has left their warehouse. So not true. My package did not leave until Monday. I emailed customer service on Friday and they stated it would leave their warehouse that afternoon...again not true. I called and was told it wasn't going to leave until Monday. Asked for compensation (shipping credit?)for their errors and was told there was nothing that could be done. Will never shop there again. Would not recommend you shopping there either.
In the past couple years I made several purchases from this company. In my order placed on October 11 of last year (2007), the Thermaltake video card cooler I ordered was not packaged with the screws needed to attach it to the video card.
I did not realize this for over a month. When I found this out, the various people I spoke to at Directron said they would look into and get me the darn screws and whatever missing parts were needed, but NEVER did.
I followed up several times and have decided now one year after making this purchase to air my frustration with Directron screwing up and sending a product missing needed supplies.
This was a low cost heatsink.. I can't use it.
I was a good customer for a while. I bought enough to be treated better and being left out to dry on this one means.. NEGATIVE review.
Directron just called me 9/25/08 (put my RMA in on 9/22/08, quick response huh) and they will send me a return shipping slip IF I take the negative evaluation off this site. After talking with 4 people, and Directron says the memory I ordered is probably not compatible with the laptop. I tested the memory on two different brand laptops with different motherboards and cpu's, and still get a black screen. Laptop does the same thing with No memory in it.
I didn't get a response from Directron until I wrote this response on the 22nd. I feel I am being Blackmailed by Directron to give them a good review after I wrote the below review because I didn't get a response from them other than, I pay to send it back and Directron will test it and go from there. They keep insisting that it's not compatible. If they don't trust me then how do I know to trust them. I have ordered several items from them and of course not all was in the proper packaging but the product worked, and I just over looked the idea I wasn't getting new sealed items or possible used items.
So to you Directron, Keep your return slip I will eat the my cost and shop at a store that is known for quality products and service. Thank you but no thanks.

I ordered laptop memory which was listed as Directron 200-pin 512MB PC2100 266Mhz. The memory was DOA. They didn't have the option to test the memory before sending. I was told by a technician that it was my notebook not being compatible. Well, I have to disagree. For one, I've tested it on two laptops (different brands newer and older) and the same thing happens "nothing", put in either slot nothing. Laptops work fine with the memory that is in the laptop in either slot so it' not a slot. The chip set is Samsung and guess what, I already have Samsung memory in the laptop which makes me think, huh, must be compatible.
Directron now wants me to pay to ship it back for a product that was DOA. In 11 years with Gov, Education, and private sector vendors I have never had to pay to return a product that is DOA.
Oh, and the Directron technician suggested they had a Kingston memory that might work for $20 more. I don't think that is my fix from Directron since the first problem hasn't been addressed. My RMA #14947

I ordered an Asus 1000H on the 11th and had it by the 13th, excellent so far. Typing on the unit revealed that the right end of the keyboard was loose and that text would leap to the top like page up had been pressed. I got an RMA from them and shipped the unit back. They had it back on the 20th. Without sending me an email, phone call or letter they decided to return it to stock and charge me 20% restocking fee when I stated that I wanted it repaired or exchanged. I called them on September 3rd to inquire as to the statuse and that is when I found out what they had done. The keyboard was physically loose and yet they said that it was physically tested. Asus has acknowledged that this was a defect addressed prior to August. The notebook was defective yet they charged a 20% restocking fee and then resold it without letting me know what was happening
