Ordered a D-Link 802.11b Router (DI-614+) and a D-Link 802.11b Wireless PCMIA card (DWL-650+) on March 25 @ 11PM. Items were $20 cheaper than other sites I checked out. Received buy.com's free "value" shipping. Item shipped the next day and was at my door on the 27th. Would definitely buy from them again!

I purchased a fairly small yet hard to find item. I placed the order and waited. several days later, I get an email saying " we're still working on shipping your product. be patient".
So I tried to cancel the order, and was greeted with a message saying I would receive an email within 1 business day to let me know if it was able to be cancelled.
3 more days pass without a word. The website still shows my order "sent to warehouse". So I try to do the normal thing and call customer service. NOPE! If I actually want to talk to someone in customer service, I will have to pay $9 for the privilege. Yes, pay for customer service.... not support, customer service. OUTRAGEOUS!!!
So I email customer service to see what is going on. they reply a day later saying that they couldnt cancel it and it would ship, but I could refuse the shipment, etc.
several days later, there is a knock on my door. Its the Airborne Express guy. He hands me my package and its my buy.com order. Amazing. the buy.com website still doesnt show it being shipped.
Literally 4 hours later, I get an email from buy.com "we shipped your order!" As of this writing, there is still no tracking info available on the order, even though it has been delivered via ground service almost across the entire country.
NEVER AGAIN!

I bought a 256MB Viking CF card. Ordering was easy. It came with free shipping and arrived sooner than I was told it would. It even had a $20 rebate so it was a good deal. Have bought from them in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

Because of the incredibly poor service I have recieved from buy.com I will never buy from them again.
On monday March 17,2003 at 4am I ordered a viewsonic VX2000 monitor from them for the price of 1328.99.
In the process of checking out, it popped up Add this free camera for purchasing over 150 dollars. Ok I didn't really care a bit about the camera and was resisted adding it, but for some reason it didn't seem to want to advance in the checkout options, so I figured ok i'll add it, after all its free. It turned out to be the checkout process was being picky about something else. I can't remember what at any rate, I figured.. Well the camera is free, so oh well.
It did not get shipped till late tuesday, even though same day shipping should have been easy with a 4am order that was in stock. I had allready noted that according to their policy they would match amazon.com's price of 1287.11 price. That pricematch request was issued right after the order.
On March 20th I received a reply to my earlier message that if the "free" camera was any kind of issue with the pricematch to cancel it. I had probably sent that message with their online system the 19th.
On the 25th, after still having failed to hear anything about my pricematch, I called again and demanded to speak to someone and not their $9.95 per call helpline(another ridiculous thing). By that time I was more than fed up with trying to resolving the problem via email which was the only free option. I finally got ahold of someone who claimed that the pricematch was declined because of the camera which 1) I had requested to cancel on the 19th 2) Had never shipped. So my pricematch was refused because of a toy camera that was supposed to be free, and I never got anyway.. Any excuse will do for these bozos I guess.
Today, March 25, there was a 1378.77 charge on my credit card for the monitor.. Thats perfectly normal. There was in addition to that a 1378.77 authorisation and a 39.35(camera?) authorisation on my card that that person refused to even admit was a problem Heaven forbid I want to buy something else until it auto expires in a few more days.
This person even refused to let my talk to his boss. Needless to say by this time I was quite angry at talking to someone who could have as easily been replaced with a computer. He hung up on me after I commented on his incompetance in great detail.
I called back and got ahold of a lady who seemed to at least be trying. She agreed to cancel the camera and take care of it. A few hours later I receieved an email.. Oops, my gosh, we couldn't cancel the camera, it suddenly shipped. Convienient eh? Well since the "free" camera was "valued" at $30.00 we will return the remaining $11.88. Gracious of them eh?
Needless to say I will never buy from buy.com again, and I would encourage everyone else to think twice before doing so.
Oh if your curious, the only reason I bought from there in the first place is they had a returns policy that seemed pretty reasonable. I wanted to make sure after buying a ~$1300 monitor that if I didn't like it I could return it.. I'm just glad there were no problems with the monitor.. Heaven forbid what a nightmare that would have been..

Easy company to deal with. I ordered a Linx USB Plus program on March 23rd and received it on March 25th. Retail price was $69 to $79, depending on where you purchase it. Buy.com had it for $53.99, no tax or S&H, plus there was a $20 rebate.

I had been happy with orders from buy.com until I had to make a return of 3 items. They've only credited my with one of the three items. They lost the other two and are now claiming that I never sent them. I've tried emailing and talking to them to work out a resolution but they are unwilling to help. If you must shop with them make sure you only return one item at a time. Better yet shop somewhere else in the first place.

Buy.Com used to be my sole source for almost any computer or electronics item I purchased for either myself or my clients. Their prices and value USED to be the best. Their customer service was excellent too. That was then. Now, their prices are not so competitive, their shipping is ridiculously overpriced, and they now charge for customer service and tech support. I buy from this vendor rarely now and only on a last-resort basis. They have lost another loyal customer. This review was modified by its author, ingenito, on

Buy.com used to be an incredible e-tailer. Unfortunately, it seems that after New Year's their customer service has become horrendous, they no longer provide free shipping and handling on many products, and it is virtually impossible to cancel an order. Consider my recent experience. I ordered a 512 MB compact flash card from Buy.com on Feb. 26. Given that the item was listed as being in stock and available to ship in 24-48 hrs, I assumed that it would reach me by mid-March, in time for me to submit a $50 mail-in rebate. I started to worry when my item still had not shipped on March 1st (mind you, it was still listed as being in stock and my order had supposedly been "sent to warehouse"). At this point, I attempted to e-mail customer service. After two days and no response, I decided to simply cancel the item. Once again, I received no reply re my cancellation request and my order was still listed as "sent to warehouse." Finally, on March 14th I received an e-mail stating that my order had been shipped the previous day. This begs the obvious question: why wasn't the order cancelled during the intervening week plus between my cancellation request and the ship date. Having been slighted in this manner, I refused delivery of the shipment and have boycotted Buy.com. In an attempt to make an easy buck, they have lost a valuable, and once loyal, customer. Thankfully, there are other sites (i.e. amazon.com for DVDs/electronics and newegg.com for all things computer related) that retain a commitment to excellent customer service (not to mention free shipping/cheap and reasonable prices). Ordered, DVD on 3-8-03, was shipped and I got an email on 3-10-03 and I received it on 3-14-03. Not bad at all for free shipping!! As per other posts I did keep a look out for "handling charges" but never had any added to my order or saw anything about them. The DVD arrived in good condition and was packaged as you would expect for media mail, but it was sufficent for the purpose. DVD is double sided, which is a little unusual but plays very nicely and not a scratch on it. Over all I'm quite happy with my experience with them.

Item: PCI parallel port card.
Price: good.
Shipping & packing: good
Return policy: Not good. Card manufacturer agrees that card is defective and will replace with no time limit, but must go through seller. Due to slow responses from manuf. concerning installation problems, defective nature wasn't identified until several days after the 30 day Buy.com return limit; they will not allow return.

I can't agree with gladlock's comments more. Buy.com's service is the worst I have even seen. I placed an order at their web site on Feb. 26, 2003. And the item's status was instock, and it's said it should be shipped within 24-48 hours. But after a week, the item still has not been shipped. I called 800 800 0800 (which is the only number I can find on their web site), and amazed again that they charge $10 for the call if it's about an existing order. See, it's their attitude to existing orders :( However, later, I bypassed it and got to talk with a representative, and was told the item is actually unavailable. It wasted me almost a week before I can try somewhere else. I will NEVER use buy.com again.

It is clear that buy.com is unwilling to do anything for its customers when there is a problem with an order. Accidentally, my order was sent to the wrong address. This happened because the shipping address defaulted to the last address I used which was a gift to a friend. I caught the error right away and called buy.com to get it fixed. I paid $10 for their toll customer service at the 800 800 0800 only to be told that there was nothing they could do by Dick at extension 81572. I asked if the item had left the warehouse yet and he said no. Dick told me to handle it myself with UPS and was kind enough to provide the number. Dissatisfied with this response, I sent an email to customer service explaining the situation, but by the time they got back to me, the items were shipped and they said again there was nothing buy.com could do. Personally, I think there were things they could have done, but they just won’t go out of their way to do them. As a result, I spent a lot of time talking with UPS. In the end, the packages were returned to sender and I canceled the order. I’m still waiting to get my money back. I won’t be using them again.
