I have purchased limited items from buy.com for about a year, AND one of my most Recent Purchases WIll Be My Last from buy.com
From initiation of purchase, to completion of the order, all the way to customer service, BUY.COM is a roller coaster ride of Aggravation, Confrontation, and Unmet Expectations.
THey will fight you on your order every step of the way. The final straw came recently when I required information and assistance on a warranty for my computer. No help at all.
If you are expecting any type of assistance from the customer service side, avoid Buy.com at all costs.
NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION - THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!

I searched for a place to buy navigation software for my Garmin GPSMap 60C. The best price was from ANTOnline through Buy.com. I ordered the software, installed it and found it was incompatible with the GPSMap60C. I contacted customer service at ANTOnline and they responded that they could not accept a return for opened software that hed been previously installed. I explained that they sold me software that was supposed to work and it did not. They did not care. They refused to exchange my software for the proper version. I told them this was unacceptable and that I required further service to resolve the matter and never heard from them again. I will NEVER shop at Buy.com or ANTOnline again and I tell everyone I know how badly they treated me.
There was a good ending to my story though. Garmin International picked up the ball where ANTOnline dropped it and gave me FULL Credit for what I had paid to ANTOnline and exchanged my software for the proper version even though they did not sell it to me. Kudos to Garmin. Boo to ANTOnline and Buy.Com
Here's an update. Buy.com contacted me and apologized for the lack of help from their reseller. They gave me a small gift certificate which is totally appreciated. It has been 13 days since my item shipped, and 29 since I placed my order. I still have not received my item. Customer service was very poor - I was told that the item was shipped and that these delays were normal. I was given a date and told not to contact customer service before then, but if the date passed that they would consider reevaluating the status of my order!

I personally would never buy from Buy.com ever again. A year and a half ago I ordered a 200 dollar camera. First things first, I paid 20 dollars for overnight shipping, it came in 4 days. Eventually when it did come I opened the shipping box and saw the camera box. Well that camera box was completely empty, no camera, no manual, no cords, no nothing.
So I filed a report and explained the situation. After waiting a week, it said that my claim was denied. Something about the weight of the package being the same as when they previous weighed it. That doesn't really matter because I didn't receive anything. Then I called and basically explained the situation again that I had paid for it, and did not receive anything except for a box. I don't think a small cardboard box is worth over 200 dollars.
To essentially get me off the phone they said that I would hear back from within 3-5 business days. Okay, fine. The thing is though, after 12 days or so, no one had called me. So I actually called them again, and of course now I'm rightfully angry. I was actually able to talk to this woman who was a higher up (not really sure what she did, but the foreign guy on the phone said she was a higher up).
She listened to my ordeal and supposedly sympathized with me. Saying that she totally understood what the situation was and how she would hate to be treated like this. She tells me that she'll get back to me within 24 hours. Now of course I'm thinking, finally all this BS and waiting has paid off. Well guess what, 24 hours pass, 48 hours pass, 72 hours pass, a week passes. I haven't received a return phone call.
So again I call them back. By the way: Their customer service number is no where to be found on their site (at least at the time). I had to search Google to find the number. I'm now really angry when I call. I'm not yelling but there's a sense of anger in my voice. I would think by now, they don't think I'm trying to stifle them from being paid. Why would I go through all this trouble just to steal a camera? They heard the story again, for the third or fourth time and now there's anger in my voice.
They tell me they will get back to me in 3 to 5 business days. I say to them "Really? Really? Are you sure? Because that's what you said the last 3 times and it took you a week and a half. And you never actually called me, I had to call you." They assured me it would actually be 3 to 5 business days.
Two days later I receive an email from Buy.com. Wow, I can't believe it. I'm paraphrasing now, but what the email essentially said was "We have looked over this situation and have come to the conclusion that we aren't going to help you. You're screwed."
So lastly I file a wrongful charge on my credit card. Of course Buy.com denies it and I don't get my money back. I kind of just gave up, because honestly what could I do? Sue them?
Sorry, when I hear "reputable" and "highly recommend" and Buy.com in the same sentence it makes my blood boil. As you can guess, I would never recommend shopping there.

Buy.com recieved payment, but claimed they didn't. I paid with paypal. Not until I entered a dispute with paypad did they acknowledge their mistake. Now they want me to close the dispute without them giving a refund. Also, the order was cancelled without my request. I have had great dealings with internet companies, to bad buy.com has to be such disreputable pitiful companies to ruin others reputations. Hopefully they will refund before I have to escalate further with paypal.

I recently purchased a laptop from buy.com. Without even receiving an email, the order was cancelled, and I only found out this fact when I checked the status off of buy.com's website. The reason that the package was cancelled was that I changed my address on my paypal account before the purchase (I just moved) and it was unverified. I had no idea that this mattered at the time. Well, I am fine that the order was cancelled, I understand that, buy I was still charged for the price of the laptop from my paypal acccount (around $212 dollars.) Recently, I have received no emails from buy.com pertaining to the problem, and I have talked to their customer service many times, and each time, they tell me that the issue will be resolved within 24-48 hours, and so far, it has not. I just want my money back for something that should not take this long, since no item was shipped to me. This was my first time dealing with buy.com, and depending on how they resolve the issue, it may be the last time. This review was modified by its author, mradambowman, on

Ordered two hard drives from Buy.com because they listed them as in stock. The order sat processing for 9 days. I emailed them at least 3 times asking for an ETA. They gave the "I don't know" speech every time and said that they only update their website once every 24hrs. Funny, for the next 8 days including today they say it's still in stock. Worst of all, my credit card got charged without the item shipping. I had to cancel the order and contact google checkout. BE WARNED, Do not buy from them!

DONOT-BUY.COM / NEVER RECEIVED GOODS. NO WORD FROM THEM!!! I am outraged by the ineptitude of this seller! I ordered something over the phone -the sales person insisted that this way I would - A) Get my product sooner, and, B) Be assured to receive one of the few they had left in stock of this particular model - I paid extra for 2 business day freight; and never received the item. I waited and waited, patiently, I might add. Now 2 weeks later nothing. I called and learned that my order was "held up" by some random "verification" process which I was NEVER informed about (I know they had my contact info because I received an Order Confirmation email). Now it seems, wait for it, they are out of stock. And... so sorry... but too bad for you ma'am, no idea when/if they will get more....
Please, please please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THE MONEY YOU SAVE WILL BE TIME AND MONEY WASTED IN THE LONG RUN. I believe in the power of the dollar to say what needs to be said to incompetent businesses. Help communicate to Buy.com that bad business practices will cost them more than a bad reputation. I made two orders from www.ca.buy.com, for the 1st order I felt happy, but 2nd order cost me lots of time. What happened?
First, they made a mistake and sent wrong items to me. Secondly, the customer service did their works but took over two months to deal with my 2nd order. The whole story was:
ca.buy.com sent wrong items to me and I contacted with customer service, they didn't send right items to me and just canceled my order, in the mean while they asked me send back wrong items to their warehouse and I did but I paid the return shipping fee by myself. After returning the wrong items to them, I spent over one month to ask them give me the refund for the return shipping fee. At last they knew this wasn't my fault and gave me the refund for the order and return shipping fee. The whole process over 2 months from making order on June 2 to getting refund on Aug.21, 2009.
In a word, www.ca.buy.com is not a too bad online store, but please be careful their non-efficient customer services if you don't want to waste too much time.

This product was delivered fast, with a Trojan Horse program included! This dangerous item was returned to them right away, but they have not replied to my request for an explanation and apology. They have offered it again since then, even though they KNOW it has this trojan horse!
Beware of Buy.com!

Buy.com was offering a deal (not a steal of a deal, but a pretty decent one) on an ATSC/NTSC framegrabber card - about $20 below the price I would get when ordering direct from the manufacturer. When the card arrived, however, it turned out that it was missing 1) the remote 2) the interface for the remote 3) the IR blaster to control the cable box and 4) the ports for the remote and IR blaster - in other words, it was NOT the same card (although the manufacturer number was the same). To make things worse, after I went through the convoluted procedure of requesting a refund and shipped the card back, I received an e-mail that a refund was issued, however, no refund was actually posted to my account, one week and counting. Trying to talk with customer service did nothing to remedy the situation - complete denial on their part, won't even give me the transaction number.
Ultimately, it took more than a week to get a refund. I am not buying anything ever again from these blighters: there are plenty of drama-free online retailers to choose from. This review was modified by its author, gavniamra, on

This company sells things that do not work, then when you contact them, if... you can find the phone number, they will not stand behind the item, and will give you the run around for weeks, then just brush you off! No matter how good the price may seem.. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Well.. Buy.com says they emailed me about this to try to resolve it.. funny.. but. as of Aug.31,2009 5:08 PM PST I have received no email from them!
As of Sept. 17th, 2009, I was informed by Jaime Black of Buy.com that a full credit was given to my credit card for the purchase, and the Netbook was returned to Buycom. Today is Sept. 27, 2009, and I am still waiting for the credit to post to my account. Jo-Anna
Today is Oct.1, 2009. I was just called by my credit card company.. who informed me that indeed the credit from Buy.com had in fact posted to my account on Sept. 19, 2009 and they were "sorry" that I had been given incorrect information! I want to thank Jamie Black for all the help and patience with me over getting this issue resolved! This is truly a valuable employee who went way beyond to satisfy a customer. Thank you Jamie for making things right! I have always liked Buy.com till this issue.. I once again will be a happy customer.

Placed an order for "World At War (11-Disc Set)" on July 4 2009. Buy.com sent me a notice on July 14, 2009 to say the order had been canceled ... no reason given. Oh.. and by the way "thank you for shopping Buy.com".
This is a despicable practice of any retailer.. Buy.com has now done this sort of thing to me twice.
They are taking orders for items they do not have in stock.... then canceling those orders over a week later. My time and effort is worth something too... all I get is an I'm sorry or an thanks come back again.
This practice is inherently flawed. When I place an order online, that is a business contract to my way of thinking. They have broken this contract and there is little recourse that would be practical on my part to pursue.
A good business would have filled the order from another vendor.. even if it cost them more to do so.. or maybe they would give me a $10 credit for my effort and disappointment.

Our last order from buy.com, we received a wireless keyboard and mouse that was opened, used, and returned before it was shipped out to us. It was even missing the batteries. It was NOT listed on their web site as an open box or even a refurbished product.
Issue remains unresolved after over two weeks, with no response whatsoever from buy.com customer support.
