I ordered a an Aviator EX7 with a P4 3.4 processor, 1GB Mushkin memory, Geforce Go 7800 video card, 80GB SATA HDD, and DVD +/- RW with Lightscribe. I waited a very long time to receive the laptop (received 8 weeks after I placed the order), and when I finally did receive it, I had nothing but trouble. As soon as I started up the laptop for the first time, I started having file corruption and instability problems. I was able to identify a defective memory chip and removed the offending piece of hardware. The system ran well for about 2 days after that, but then crashed as soon as I took the shiny new laptop on its first trip. About 50% of the time when I attempted to start up the computer, it would not recognize my HDD. The other 50% of the time when I attempted to start up the computer, it would not even post the bios. It just sits there with the power lights on, a blank screen, and no fans running. Their offered solution was to ship the computer back and let them fix it. I decided that I did not want to pay that much money for a repaired/rebuilt computer without ever having really received a new computer. I asked that they either refund my money or exchange the computer for one of the pre-built ones that they listed on their site for a similar price as I paid for mine. Their response, "That will cost you an 18% restocking fee." An 18% restocking fee for a defective product! It's not like I'm returning a product just because I changed my mind. This is (was) a $3000 laptop, and it didn't work from the moment I opened the box. My only choices are to either ship it back to them so they can fix it (I'm not at all excited about continuuing to do business with these guys at this point) or eat $540 just for ordering a product that doesn't work. I hope that everyone doing research on which laptop to purchase will see this post and think carefully about their policies/procedures before dealing with this company.

Update: I feel it is fair to let everyone know that they have since contacted me and offered to waive the restocking fee. It took a little time, but they eventually did do what was necesarry to take care of their customer.

Whenever a Hypersonic laptop owner is experiencing difficulties, the Hypersonic Technical Support and Repair Teams do their best to repair the laptop as quickly as possible. It is very easy to request warranty service. We issued a repair ticket and the laptop was shipped back to Hypersonic for warranty service (Hypersonic covers shipping both ways). The system was shipped overnight. Our technicians repaired the laptop. Before it was shipped back to this customer, customer service received a call from the customer demanding a full refund. Hypersonic only offers a full refund during the first 7 days after the order is shipped. Returns made after the 7-day period up to 30 days are subject to a fee. Nonetheless, this matter came to a satisfying resolution.

Extreemly slow to ship. I had a 30 day system build and ship. I thought that was long enough but figured that I would go ahead and wait. After the ship date came and went I decided to cancel my order. If they have such a large window and could not make the ship date then how long would I have been waiting?

I ordered the Aviator GX7 laptop and recieved it about 3 weeks later. I went with them because they offered 4x dvd burner/a+b+g wireless cards which no one else offered. I have been impressed that everyone there speaks easy to understand English and tech support has been able to offer a solution quickly. I have had very little hold time. My biggest complaint is that my laptop was switched with a b+g wireless card even though I paid for and ordered and was "shipped" the a/b/g. I brought it to my saleperson's attention and was told another should arrive in 1 week. It took almost a month which included several phone calls and emails (emails unanswered). I was given several reasons for this. My big complaint is that they emails were not returned necessitating phone calls and communication on this topic was poor. To put it into context, this laptop is priced much more than a similar offerings by other companies that use the same chassis. I thought premium pricing would included premium support/communication. Not yet. I would buy from this company again only if they were the only ones to offer a specific configuration, otherwise, I would think twice because the service has not justified the price paid. The laptop itself is very fast/stable and I use it with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro without any problems. I am very satisfied with the product.

While I have had problems with Hypersonic PC Systems in the past, since OCZ took them over, the turn around time for repairs and customer support is greatly improved.

I recently sent my Aviator FX7 back for repairs. My laptop was purchased in December, 2005.

The nature of the problem was an intermittent failure to recognize the hard drives. This resulted in failure to boot, and occasional 'blue screens'.

My first thought was to replace the hard drives. I did this on my own, after talking to Hypersonic's tech support. This did not solve the problem.

Next I contacted tech support again, and obtained a service repair number. I sent the laptop in and waited. The resulting 'fix' was that the BIOS was set to a RAID setting incorrectly. (I strongly doubted that, as I had never used the drives in RAID mode)

The machine booted a few times, and then reverted back to the fail to boot mode. I contacted tech support again, and once again shipped the machine back to California. Shipped the laptop back on 5/27/08.

Hypersonic's techs had the machine for roughly three weeks, trying to replicate the problem. There were several proposed fixes, including a new mobo, refurbishing the current mobo, replacing the HD controller, etc.

The net result of all of this is that (so far), the laptop seems to be working as it should.

My only real complaint through the process was that I *really* had to stay on top of the process. I had to call in an reiterate information such as that the machine had already had a stress test over the weekend. It seemed that they lost focus on what to do because the problem was transient, and difficult to reproduce.

The support person mentioned several times that his supervisor didn't want to order a replacement mobo, even after I specifically asked to have that done, at my expense. I use this machine for my business, and having it out of commission for nearly a month was quite painful.

To their credit, Hypersonic did restore the machine back to full functionality, and minimized my expense in doing so.

My overall experience with the machine has been quite good. As I mentioned, this machine is used for business, and I travel quite a bit. It is on the heavier side, but considering i used to travel with full Unix workstations, this is a dream. (remember 21" monitors that weighed 90lbs themselves?)

Final comments regarding Hypersonic as a company: I feel they ultimately did a good job in taking care of my machine's problem. There could be some improvements in communication, and the speed with which the problem was resolved. That said, I am up and running again, so all is good.

I needed support for my 3 year old Hyper Sonic EX7 laptop. On the edge of my warranty expiring I sent it in. The tech support guys were easy to work with and knew their stuff. Being in IT myself, it was important to me that they were able to talk to me on my level and trust my knowledge base. Together we were able to work out all the issues with a minimum of downtime for me and all under my uber warranty!

I've been an Alienware owner for a number of years, but when it came time to upgrade my laptop to something a bit newer, through price and hardware comparisons, Hypersonic beat them out, plus I had only good reviews from friends of them. So I settled on an Aviator EQ-7. Ultimately, I should have waited a few months for the new DX10 graphics cards to come out, but I wasn't really tracking that, being deployed. Suffice it to say that the initial purchase and dealing with customer service was excellent and then, in the wake of the acquisition by OCZ, I didn't hear from Hypersonic or its parent company for nearly two entire months.

I will admit that once a member from OCZ started handling my situation, however, the system was assembled and shipped to me within two weeks, the only delay being shortages of the processor that I wanted installed. From contact with the customer service rep from OCZ, it was about 3 weeks until I received my system. Keep in mind that I am deployed to Afghanistan and the system showed up, ready to rumble.

I have no complaints with the laptop itself. It is an excellent system although I would have liked an option for maybe a slot-loading DVD drive as I have become accustomed to the one on my previous laptop. Otherwise, the system is beautiful and operates well except for the interface with the screen-mounted camera. Being unable to really contact tech support from my location is about the only thing hindering me from solving that issue.

One warning that I feel should be made very obvious, however, is the effect of Windows Vista on certain games. Even with specs that should annihilate the requirements to run games, both Vista32 and 64 have issues with games like Company of Heroes and World in Conflict. The architecture of the OS causes game crashes and reversion to desktop. While that is not a Hypersonic issue, being a product that they offer, it should be noted (in my humble opinion).

Now that the turmoil of the acquisition is past, I expect that the customer service Hypersonic is known for will reassert itself.

I have nothing but good things to say about Hypersonic PC Systems. I found them to be a very helpful whatever my question may have been. I ordered the Aviator EX7, and to date it has been one of the best systems that I have worked with. I am a graphic desinger, and needed to find a desktop replacement, but one that would meet my needs. Needless to say the Aviator EX7 from Hypersonic PC was just what I needed. I would recoment Hypersonic and the Aviator EX7 to anyone interested and a professional computer and Co.

Hypersonic immediately began negotiations once I placed my comments on this site. We have worked out a satisfactory compromise for our issue. I bought an AX6 laptop and it runs very well. Also, their technical support is very friendly and knowledgeable.

purchasing was very simple online. web site is great. liked the way the prices for upgrades and downgrades were posted behind each item so you could see right away if it was able to fit the budget instead of having to hit the update button and wait for a refresh. shipping calculation was nice to be able to see how much your total was without having to stuff it in a "cart" and go part way through checkout before getting a real total.

bad part first. It took seven weeks to get my aviator. i don't mind that long, i was told it would only take three weeks at fist, then one more week, then a few days, and so on. Once the order shipped I recieved a tracking number that didn't work with any tracking system, so I had to blindly wait for the computer to arrive. so if you need a computer fast I would not recomend this company.
The good points are these, the aviator is great, it's fast and is working flawlessly. their customer service was curtious, But not always helpfull(don't say a few days, when it's really a few weeks) when I called them for updates on my order. If you want a fast machine and have time to wait this company is great.

I purchased a laptop from Hypersonic based on ratings on this site. I was willing to look past the complaints about shipping because I thought I would get a good PC, and good service. However, the shipping was a very big pain. If you need a system fast, or even have a project next month that you think you'll use it for, I wouldn't go with Hypersonic. I ordered a month ahead of my project start time, and wound up doing some of my 3D work for it on a very old, very lame system until the laptop arrived.

That being said, if you can wait for a PC, these guys are good. My PC is running very well, is faster than anything here at the office, and is fantastic for the work that I do. I'm very happy with the system. Hypersonic has followed up a few times now on various aspects. They will likely help me add an extra hard drive in a few weeks when it becomes available.

Overall, I'm satisfied. Once the idea that it took so long to get the PC fades from memory, I'm sure I'll only think nice thoughts when I think of Hypersonic.

Where do I start...First my shipping took forever probably because I was getting the p4 3.06ghz. It finally came and it was one kick ass system. They also sent me a wingman joystick to make me feel better for the late shipping. About 2 weeks after receiving the system a DIMM failed. Tech support was nice but you can only talk with them during business hours. After hours your forced to use there outsourced support. I called that and waited 2 hours for someone to call me back. I ended up finding the problem myself and not picking up the phone. So it's a little frustrating but I can deal with it.
